CoMC Lesson Three :: Merpeople
As you enter care of magical creatures classroom you'll notice Professor Clark has yet again illusioned the class but this time to reflect underwater scenery.
Professor Clark was seated ontop of his desk, on a weed bed he took the liberty on decorating himself. He greets you with a smile and a murmured "Hello" as you enter the class, "class shall commence soon".

Amelia entered the CoMC, which she felt as though she had just left. She gazed around the classroom to see that it was disillusioned to represent underwater scenery.
Taking a seat towards the front, she took out her notes and looked up at the professor. "Hello Professor, How are you today?"

Willow stepped in the Care of Magical Creatures classroom, feeling a little sleepy. Homework was definitely keeping her busy during the night. "Hello Professor Clark" She greeted politely, before yawning a little.
Mental note: Quit staying up so late
Forest green eyes examined the classroom, with curiosity. She had to face it; The place was looking very nice. Swimming may not be one of her strenghts, but the ocean was probably one of the most beautiful things ever.
The seond year took seat in the middle of the classroom, and waited for the class to start.

Amelia looked from her left to her right as students filled in, three of whom sat near her. She smiled at the older slytherin girl and said back, "Hi.." before turning her attention back to the the other students that joined her.
Not enough room for everyone near me, she thought noting that Rhiannon was last of the three to join her and had to settle for a spot near her, rather than next to her. She was feeling slightly popular today, which made her giggle quietly, to herself.

She looks down at her hands on the desktop and is cheered up by the sight of her mother's ring on her right hand. She was really happy that she had finally heard back from her cousin, and that his letter had contained this tiny part of her family. Glancing back up, she noticed that class had officially started. Shadow, on the other hand, had other plans. Sitting was not for this kitten. That leafy stuff looked good. Shadow wandered over to the desk that had Tall Man But Gives Good Treats sitting on it, and he started nibbling on a bit of the weed bed.
"Don't they have like the tail of a fish instead of legs...but the upper torso of a human? So...a fishykindaperson?" His eyes darted to Lyra, who looked a little frazzled. Oh dear.

Amelia rolled her eyes. The boy was persistent and she knew, much to her dismay she would have to hang out with him eventually. She closed her eyes a moment and was about to respond to his request, when Fabian started talking, causing her to turn back around in her seat. The last thing she wanted was to lose points...
"Aright settle down" Fabian called out as he bounced off the desk and landed on his feet to get the entire class's attention.
"Today we shall cover merpeople, as most of us know. Merpeople are beings that live underwater. They have created their own cultural and social structures over many many generations. So lets start by describing them out, what do merpeople look like?".
The sixth year raised her hand and responded to his question, "Merpeople around the world vary in appearance just as humans do. The sirens of Greece are the oldest recorded merpeople, who match the descriptions of Muggle legend 'The Little Mermaid'. Whereas the selkies of Scotland and the merrows of Ireland differ in appearance.
The merpeople of Hogwarts - who are selkies - have greyish skin and long, wild, dark green hair. Their eyes are yellow, as are their broken teeth, and they wear thick ropes of pebbles around their necks. They have silver fish tails, but their upper extremities resemble those of humans. Merpeople are also very tall too.."

"Yes yes. All those are very good descriptions. Two points each!" he smiled tenderly at the class, "Mermaids do have gray skin with long green hair, yellow eyes, broken teeth, quite charming aye? and wear thick ropes of pebbles around their necks. Those descriptions are for the selkies mermaids, selkies of scotland, there's also the Irish merrow and the greek sirens whom look quite differently from the selkies."
Hitachi kept his hand held high and asked, "Professor, can Merpeople be ''friendly'' at times?" he slowly slid down his hand and stared admirably at the professor.
"Of course they can, they behave just like people. They can be friendly, its only our society that depicts them as dangerous and ominous. Dissapointedly we fear anything that doesn't resemble us, humans".
Savannah had been pondering over something in her head, until Mia mentioned merpeople of different places differ in appearance. Her hand raised, adding "Now that I think of it, if I remember correctly, Professor Lainey said Merpeople don't have hair; their bald, purposely."
Fabian crooked a brow at Savannah's statement, Professor Lainey could have meant something else. For clearly they had hair, very long hair. "Hmm" he sighed, "well she could mean a species of sorts? For merpeople have long hair, especially mermaids, its part of what makes them attractive and magical!".
"Moving on. Other species of mermaids resemble humans. With bright colorful hair and eyes. Typical merpeople hair colors are: Brown, Blonde, Red, Sea-blue, and Sea-green. As for eye color it can range from: Blue, Green, Moonlight-silver, Hazel, Gray, and Amber. They positively look like humans from waist up, from waist down they have a scaled tail of a fish. And they are very very beautiful both mermaids and mermen and that is why us, humans are attracted to them".

Claudian shrank a bit in his seat and looked around to see who was watching. He was starting to feel a bit shy, with his hand still up, he spoke. "Well,...My grandmother told me a bit about the selkies. She also said that in the North, there have been many legends about merpeople of different types who come to the surface and take the form of a regular woman in order to seduce surface dwelling men. One such story is the Mermaid of Gollerus, who married a muggle man and even had children with him." He shrugged a bit. "I'm not sure if it's true or not, though. Have you ever heard of any such interactive circumstances between the merpeople and muggles, sir?" He wanted to get a professionals opinion on this. He nodded his head about what Aggie had said. "I've also heard that, as well. A Cornish Mermaid once held down the unfaithful lover of young girl for breaking her heart as the tide came in." He was careful where his eye roamed when saying this.

Of course, it's a Muggle fairy tale, but magical Muggle stories always have some root in truth. They actually know a fair amount about magical creatures, however warped the information. She bit her lip, and then went on "Merpeople are also known for dooming muggle ships and for telling sailors that they will never see land again, and in others they just tell them that they are close to the shore, when it really is the complete opposite" Scary creatures merpeople were. Good thing she was not a muggle sailor "The male ones, the mermen, in the other hand, are described as not having much interest on humans... Is this true professor?"
Willow bit her lip again, before adding "I've also read that muggles tend to confuse Merpeople with Manatees because these animals are notable for the way in which they carry their young, cradled in their arms much as a human would carry a baby" Well, she had certainly spoke a lot.
Weird. She was usually very bad at Care Of Magical Creatures.

Kerry listened as her classmates gave a lot interesting facts and ideas. Hearing one of her classmates talk about mermaids in sailor, reminded Kerry of muggle myths she had heard about Mermaids. Raising her hand she said "I also heard that mermaids are looked upon as bad omens by muggle sailors. Adding to that, the muggle sailors believed mermaids had the ability to enchant them through song which caused them to be distracted them from their work, walk off the decks of ships or even cause shipwrecks."
"I've also heard through muggle lure that Mermaids love to brush their long hair and look into hand mirrors. I read somewhere that a man can capture a mermaid, and make her his wife, by stealing her cherished possessions such as a cap, mirror, or brush. When he had her possesion, he had possesion of her. Pretty cruel, blackmailing someone into marriage, if you ask me. But that's a man for you." Kerry smirked. "I guess, too that they'd want to do this because it was believed that Mermaids made good wives and brought luck to the family - the descendents of mermaids are said to be very good looking and have the gift of prophecy. At the same time though I would venture capturing a mermaid to be a huge risk. I've heard they are very vengeful creatures. If you hurt them or anger them they'll seek vengence upon you and your family with floods and tidal waves. I don't know about you, but that's not a risk I'd be willing to take." Kerry laughed. "Leave it to a man to think of himself and try to kidnap a mermaid."
"If you ask me, I'd much rather try to rescue a mermaid. I heard that if you rescue a mermaid and help her back to sea, she'll grant you a wish. To be on the mermaid's good side for the rest of your life and get a wish in return. How sweet would that be?!" Kerry grinned, wondering if it were true.

"Some legends about mer-men say they capture the souls of drowned sailors and keep them in soul cages under the sea... And that female mermaids are considered very beautiful, but the mermen were basically ugly, which is why mermaids seek out human men. Female Merrows are said to own a red cap or cape, and if a human could capture and hide either so the Merrow never found it, then she would remain on land without a fuss. But if the Merrow should ever find her cap or cape, she would feel compelled to return forever to the ocean." Xana said.
"In Asia, they say the mermaid is not as a personality but a part of nature, like a storm or an animal. But in Africa there are tales of Mami Wata, the African Mermaid Goddess. She appears as a mermaid, and sometimes splashes about in the water at the end of a rainbow after a heavy storm... she takes people away to her land beneath the water. These people are transformed by the experience. When they return to earth they are different, serene and strangely remote from the world around them. They are more beautiful and have become wealthy. She also appears to people in dreams, counseling them or granting them wealth, good health and children. She also denies children to her favourite women and they are said to be her land-dwelling representatives... so very beautiful but barren women are often called Mami Wata in Africa."

All this talk of mermaids and the enchanted room around her was very surreal. It was like the class was taking place in the lake, and Kerry was waiting for a mermaid to swim by them and tell them they were all fools for what they were saying and give a first hand lesson herself.
Suddenly Kerry felt something brush up against her leg. She swore it felt furry, and it made Kerry shriek as she jumped out of her seat!!

Besides, Kerry wasn't usually the one to cause trouble; at least not during class. Scanning the floor and faces of the students, she looked around for the source of the commotion.

That's when she noticed the monkey trying to chew it's way through her bag. "Enough already! You've destroyed my books, my homework, my parchements and quill...do you really need to eat my bag, too?" Kerry said as she poked the bag with her wand. "Don't make me use this on you..." she began to threaten as she heard Professor Clark question her.
Professor Clark was too mesmerized by the topic of mermaids and collecting different student theories when a commotion and certain dallying started at one end of the classroom, completely disarming him from addressing students and answering their question. Oh that annoyed him.
"Pardon me" he excused the collective student that were actually paying attention to his lesson, then directed his now furious eyes towards the disordered students.
"OY!" he called loudly, "mind to elaborate on why your screeching like merpeople above the wave, way in the back, because i certainly haven't brought any to class".
"No. No mermaid Professor... Although something tells me if there was one, it would be a lot nice than this thing," Kerry muttered, as she shook the bag again in frustration.
"It seems a monkey has joined our class today. It must have heard your classes are amazing and it wanted to see for itself." Kerry laughed, shaking her head.
"Seriously though... this thing just came out of nowhere an made itself a home in my bag. It's already eaten my homework, thrown my quills out and has gone swimming in my ink Professor! Would I lose points if I ready hexed the little thing." Kerry asked as she glared back at her bag. "Not that I would of course..." she smirked said, realizing how cruel that sounded.
"So ummm... what exactly do I do about this anyway? There's no way I'm letting this thing free. And it won't be long til it sets itself free, Professor. It's already beginning to chew through my bag!"
Hearing the voice of the creature that had feed him earlier, he wanted to get out and to go near him. He would probably be safer there than in here. Taking a good bite on the bag hoping he will touch the things that was holding him here, he kept bashing with his tiny hands over and over again.
Xana looked at her and made a face. "As they are humanoid in nature, wouldn't that make you a cannibal?" No surprise there, though, really. Everyone knew Trel was a man-eater.
"Not if you eat the fishy parts!" Really Venefica was driving her nuts! Couldn't she just leave? "Also in Japanese lure if a human eats the flesh of the mermaids (the fishy part), they either become immortal, or they are transformed into monsters themselves called 'lost souls' or the 'poisoned.' This transformation is permanent."

Tag, having no interest in sirens or mermaids whatsoever, had been secretly dozing behind a book in the back of class when the commotion roused him from a dream (one in which he was being slaughtered bloodily by a raging cheetah).
"Hey!," he yelled with a start. "Hey, it's that monkey! Be careful! Don't shake the bag, you'll freak him out and he'll go king kong on your footwear." Tag almost said 'my' monkey, but if the creature really was a student he wasn't sure how the student would feel about that.
"Oh sure...now you tell me. Thanks Tag! You couldn't tell me this sooner?" Kerry said sarcastically as she immediately stopped shaking the bag, and held it as far away from her as she could, her hands still tightly gripped on the handles.

As Tag spoke up, the monkey seemed to get even more excited. Kerry looked at the bag and then back to Tag. "I think it likes you." Kerry laughed. "As soon as it heard your voice it started going crazy. Just look at the thing going!" Kerry said as she held up the bag and watched it shake as the monkey tried to bite and claw it's way out.

Fabian was waiting for a response from that collective group when out of no where the Ravenclaw captain started yelling about a monkey. Fabian muttered and cursed under his breath along the lines of "everyone is doomed" and "your all gone bloody mental" when it came to him that Tag as referring to a monkey.
A monkey.
"Bloody rotten luck" he barked, and stormed down the asile and it cleared upon him what the shaking reference was all about.
"No. No mermaid Professor... Although something tells me if there was one, it would be a lot nice than this thing," Kerry muttered, as she shook the bag again in frustration.

"I bloody well know there wasn't a mermaid in my class" he gritted out, "I'm very confident of my sanity" he looked down at the shaking bag. He shuddered.
"I'm afraid you would lose points kerry if you stunned it, but since the monkey came to enjoy our class, we can cage it in?" his lips twirled into a menacing smile, of course he could think of one hundred and one things to do to this monkey after class. Until then, those thoughts must be frozen.
Clark waved his wand at the windows, shuttering them close. "I'll get a cage from my office, meantime, you make sure this monkey stays in this classroom and try not to use wands on him" his eyes darted towards Tag, "use bananas".
He turned around and stormed out of the classroom closing the door behind him.

"I heard that if you catch one, they make great sushi, and one of the best aphrodisiacs known to wizard-kind..." She looked at the other students and blushed... "I read it somewhere!"
Amelia tried not to snicker as Trelawney suggested eating merpeople. Honestly, that girl had some serious issues. Read it somewhere? The insanity magazine doesn't count...
Her attention shifted to the commotion in the back of the room and the next thing she knew, Fabian had left to get a cage for the 'monkey'.

Professor wasn't having a very good day, Kemma surmised. And now they were going to try to capture the monkey again? With the Professor's luck he'd be wearing a live monkey hat before it was all over. Kemma's twinkling eyes slid over to exchange a humorous look with Tag.

Well sort of anyway." Kerry shrugged. "But still, Gryffindor should get points for that!" Kerry grinned.
"Wait! You're leaving to get the cage? Can't we just summon it here?" Kerry gasped. As she muttered to herself, "Oh yes...make sure he doesn't go anywhere, no problem...let's just hope he hasn't chewed through my bag by then."

Tag's eyes were glued to Kerry's bag, which was rustling and shaking vigorously in her grip. "I gave him fruit before," he explained. "Monkeys have voice recognition, like babies. He probably thinks I have more food." Tearing his eyes away, Tag quickly ripped open his messenger bag and started rummaging recklessly. A few quills went flying, one of them sticking itself in Claudian's shoe.
After a few moments, Tag produced a small bag of Jarvey-Jiggles, three caramels, a stale pumpkin scone, and a single licorice wand. "Here," he picked out the Jarvey-Jiggles. "These are made from fruit. See if he wants one."
His hopeful eyes flickered up to Kemma's. Maybe the potions won't work and I'll get to keep him. Maybe mum will let me keep a monkey if it's potty-trained!
The monkey was now making crying sound. He wanted to get out at all cost. What was doing the nice creature (Tag) and why wasn't he getting him out of there. Trying to make lamenting sound in order to make them open the bag, he stop bagging all over the place.

She hoped that Agie hadn't eaten all the bananas from the time they left the lake to the time they had arrived in class otherwise, they would have to come up with Plan B and quick.

She was actually having too much fun.

"Anytime Mr Slughorn, but I didn't do anything" Kayla said with a chuckle. She turned her attention back to the class, which quite frankly was going downhill with the introduction of the monkey, but hey she was all up for the excitment.
The monkey was wondering why the creature was acting strangely all of a sudden. This wasn't something he was expecting but then again, he had no clue how he would react. Deciding to get out of his shirt and to go closer to his face, he watches him with in interrogating looks. Where was the food? Making a series of sound as he tried to communicate with him, the monkey was unsure that he would understand him.

Kerry realized she still had the food Tag had given her. Looking at Agie, she smirked. "Hmmm... you want to make up for this," Kerry asked her sister, still not believing her that she brought the monkey in, she held out her hand, "Here, Tag said something about the monkey liking these fruits here. "I'd do it, but I think I've had enough of that little devil for one day, besides that - I have to admit I'm enjoying watching Tag dance around like this. It's rather amusing." Kerry laughed.

OMG!!!! It was the monkey. Agie looked for Lyra and started giggling. She reached into her bag and handed her a banana, and got another one for herself. "i hope this works. If not, I'm giving up on the monkey and going after the cheetah."
Agie turned and giggled with Lyra and then faced Kerry. "We were hungry." She smirked. "I have nothing to do with it." She grinned. "I promised Fabian to be on my best behaviour."
Lyra giggled at Agie as she spoke to her sister...one she had never met before. "I'd say you were on your best behavior at the moment, Agie, and I am proud but..." she turned her attention to Kerry who now spoke of placing Josh in a cage. "I dare say that, he will not last in a cage again...or at least I don't think he will." She had enough from Fabian the other day with the caging of Josh and Christian but now another student wanted to do the same...oh geez! "Somebody better tell her about her broom," Lyra whispered to herself as her head hit the table.

"Well, they'd have to, considering all the weird things that have been going on this term," Tag snickered, not so much from his comment but because the monkey had put his cold fingers in his armpit. "Agie, how about one of those bananas? I think he's hungry. Maybe we can train him to ride a broom. Do you suppose Hufflepuff could tell the difference?"
Tag turned, arms out stiff. "Hey Claud'! I have a new member for our Gentlemen's Society. I have a feeling he's got better manners than most of the students." He intentionally didn't look at Josh.

WHO JUST GAVE ME THAT TAG?!?!?
Agie looked at Tags as she heard her name, and then back at the banana. "Sorry, but there are for me and Lyra only. But, I'll feed it to the monkey." She grinned, knowing Lyra would kill her if she gave the banana's up. Agie help out the banana for the monkey to eat.
Agie giggled at tags comment. "Oo that's a good idea. He be a great playing on your team. No one would even notice the difference. " She smirked. "he'd blend in with your team AND he'd be better than any of the Hufflepuff players" Agie, looking at Josh with a grin.
Why don't you help poor Tag there, by distracting the monkey with some of these." Kerry said handing Agie the fruits. "Watch out though... keep your hand very flat. I've heard this thing bites. Agie nodded proudly at Lyra. "I know, it's been hard too." She laughed. "She wont lock Josh up." Agie smirked. "Erm... I don't think she needs to know about her broom." She giggled.
"Look Lyra...She gave me the fruits he likes." Age handed her some and then help her and out offering it to the monkey. In one hand she had the banana and the other she had the fruits, "Hey monkey, are you hungry, I have some yummy food."
The monkey eyes widen when he noticed that they were food that he could have. Leaving the creature for just a bit, he sat down on the desk while trying to figure out how to get them. Up on his feet having his tail behind him, balancing. He took one step closer but looked at her in a unsecured way. Those fruits were looking very good.

Deciding not to move another inch, Lyra's eyes widened as she began to talk out of the side of her mouth. "You feed the monkey and I will watch. No sense in scaring him off right now." She watched with gleeful eyes as he was doing a cute little balancing act with his tail. "He's soooo cute," she whispered, still staying still enough to not run him off.
Taking a glanced from her to the fruit and back and forward, he wasn't sure he was understanding her. Those creatures had a rather strange way to communicate with each other and he was wondering if he could take a chance. His stomach seems to have more control over him since he jumped down the desk and took the fruits in his hand. As he took a bite, he felt all the flavor coming down his mouth and he squeak of pleasure.

Agie smiled at Lyra. "Yes but you are not a quidditch player, so it was no offence to you silly." She giggled. "We'll have another broom ride." She said in a whisper. This time they'd go through the forbidden Forrest, Agie smiled to herself.
Agie gave her some fruit and nodded at what she was saying. 'I know, I just want to squeeze him." She said softly.

Licking now is tiny hands since the fruit was all in his tummy. He was still looking for some more. One of those weren't enough to fill up his tummy. Glancing at the creature and making sound to her to let her know that he wanted more of those. By the looks of it, he wasn't going to get them as easy. Making a pouting face as he was hoping to get them without going close, he took a step closer but still was frighting by her. He decided to wait for a bit just in case.

Agie sighed, she wanted the monkey to come. But he has a sad look on his face. Agie rolled a piece of fruit over to him, it was a lot closer to her than the other one.
The monkey crawled toward the piece of fruit that she had put on the floor. He was still eyesing her because he was getting closer and closer to her but somehow she seems nice. He was still not sure that he would trust her but enough to eat what she was offering him. Taking a bite in the fruit, he took one step closer to her. He was now standing at her feet. The monkey suddenly froze and stop making any sound. He wasn't expecting her to touch him and this was making him nervous. Jumping back, he took a glanced at her. What did she trully wants with him? Was it trully safe or was it totally a lied and she was about to lock him away for good. Hesitating to go back to her, he took one shy step back toward her and make shy little sounds as if he was asking her something.

Rhiannon had completely zoned out shortly after the professor had asked his first question, taking notes but not paying attention to much else. It was something that happened sometimes when she got extremely focused on something.
Finally, she realized that it seemed like class had devolved into something else entirely and snapped out of her daze. What?, she thought as sh eglanced around to find what seemed like half the class gathered near the back of the room and the professor gone. Random words filtered through her confusion, enough to figure out that a monkey had invaded class. And Josh had been talking about, among other things, brooms, and exhausted people that had needed to got to the hospital wing . . . She flushed a little, knowing who he was talking about. And she heard something about cages. Again.
Looking back at her notes, she realized that half of the page was covered in sketches of mermaids, as well as more abstract designs. Rolling her eyes, she glanced back at everyone yelling and rushing around, and then closed her eyes. She hoped something would get resolved, soon. Because everythign was still distracting her and she really didn't want it to end up reflecting badly in her grades at the end of the term.

After walking around for a bit the Cheetah picked up a familiar sent. Following the sent led her to a big rectangle thingy with a crack. Making her way threw the crack of the rectangle thingy she noticed a lot of Two Legged Things. Ohh this place would be bad they'd try to capture her. Shayna shifted uncomfortably in her seat, despite the beauty of the scenery that surrounded her, it made her painfully aware of her fear of water and all the came with it. Staring resolutely down at her textbook, she lifted an arm onto the desk, curving a hand around her forehead so that most of her vision was limited only what lay below in front of her.
Suddenly a mild meow alerted her, and her head whipped up, despite her firm resolution not to. Her gaze settling on a beautiful cheetah, Shayna's emerald green eyes widened, more with shock than fear. It was then she realised that a monkey too was currently in the room, enjoying some kind of fruit and perched on a desk in front of an older girl.

Amelia must have zoned out again while watching the monkey, who was now toying between Lyra and Agie. Bad monkey, she thought to herself. Of course she couldn't help herself here when Kerry had started in about the monkey subbing in for the match against them. She closed her eyes and groaned, vowing not to start in on anything. Besides, she didn't want to risk not playing. And then Tag responded to it... and now Agie!? Surely Max would never allow it, but then again, he was a Ravenclaw himself...
The sixth year was able to keep her cool just fine for the Brandywine sisters, but then she heard one more insult to her and just couldn't stand it. "Trelawney! Then turning to face the Ravenclaw captain, "As for you Tag, good luck getting this thing trained to ride a broom in a week." She would be as polite as possible to her opposition team, even though she was still kind of scared of that bat.

Catching back the fruit with an ease, he ate it in one bite. Those creatures were rather strange and he wasn't expecting a reaction like that. Of course, then her serious face quickly spread as the Professor re-entered the classroom and then complained of the bickering. Then Professor Clark had come back, panicked, and ordered that class be evacuated. Yeah, cause if the cheetah was going to attack us, we're better off all moving, scaring it even more, she thought sarcastically. Slippping her notes back into her bag slowly, she stood up and started creeping toward the door. She wasn't going to startle the creatures with any quick movements.
The monkey was on the ground looking for a place where he could sneak when he heard the voice of the very bad creature (Fabian). A sudden panic urge his little body and as soon as he found an opening, he rushed himself out of the place not without knocking few things down along the way.

Savannah was startled, by the strong meow sort of sound that came from beside her, and was even more startled to see Tiger hadn't followed her to class but the Cheetah had. Oh no.
Professor Clark came back before she could react, he demanded everyone leave immediantly. Somehow she didn't see that a good idea without the animal distracted first, but said nothing and kept her attention on it. She, unlike the others didn't move from her seat. If she left, the cheetah was more then likely to follow or even possibly get mad at her and responde badly.
"Professor..I don't think I should get up," Savannah said, so it wasn't as if she was silently refusing, she couldn't exactily. If she went around the other side of her desk, it still might come after her. Noticing it sniffing, a thought accrued, and she reached down to rummage through the side of her bag. Good thing she had gotten more of those peanut butter flavored cookies, "Here you go...good Cheetah," She murmured calmly, giving it two biscuits at once in hope of keeping it on her good side despite what was going on around them. She was not about to become the large felines next meal.

Xana moved to collect her things and stand when something caught her eye. That couldn't be a... cheetah? She froze in place, not wanting to make any sudden moves and alarm the creature. She watched, wide-eyed, as the hufflepuff girl offered it cookies. "pssst... " she whispered to the girl. "Can I help you? She didn't want the younger girl to be mauled by the powerful-looking feline.

At the sound of chairs shuffling and footsteps hurriedly moving, Fabian called over his shoulders, "class shall resume later .. when.. oh when everyone is safe" he bent down under a desk to find that monkey. Under the desk we pretty clear, he brought himself to full height again pressing the cage to a nearby desk.
"Where is that monkey? Anyone seen that monkey? Ten points to whomever catches that monkey! Use bananas!" he called loud enough over the entire, "don't hex any of the creatures!" he continued as he twisted here and there in search of that little minx. Oh was that monkey in trouble! He couldn't even comprehend why he was in trouble, but he could think of reasons later, yes later.

"I think you should!" Fabian replied to Savannah as he crossed her still searching for that monkey, "just take slow movements out of your seat. And don't get too close to it. One bite out of it can take your entire arm and i'm sure your mama would want you in one piece when she meets you at Kings Cross, aye?" he tried to stay calm. But all this movement was determined to anger the cheetah.
Right. No Panic.
"Cassandra! Mia!" he called out again, "one of you must go and find Professor Branxton, ask him for a potion. Tell him of the situation in class, while i try to keep both animals in check and contained in this classroom!".
"Older students, make sure younger students are safe. And try to stay away from the cheetah!".
"Yes sir..." She said. She left in a rush.

'10 points to Slytherin...what??!' Claudian's ears perked up at the opportunity.
"Trellawney? I can take the students back to the common room." He offered as Professor Clark said either her or Mia would need to go and get Branxton. There were opportunities to be had and he didn't want Slytherins to miss out on them.

"Erm..I think I've got it," Savannah spoke quietly, glancing to the older girl rather greatful for the offer, but she didn't see a way around getting up and going. Getting up was something she was just abit afraid of at the moment.
She sighed inwardly, nodding to Professor Clark. She wasn't sure which was a worse idea, angering the Professor or the cheetah. Abit too late on getting close to it, she thought to herself, again looking down at it. Why was it fond of her? this was the second time. Maybe it had an identity problem. When you fed a stray dog they took a liking to that person, but this was no dog.
"My mum is going to be irate with me if she even finds out I fed it, Sir. Let alone lose a limb." Savannah added, slowly getting off her seat from the opposite side of the large animal. She left two more cookies by it's paws, hoping it would focus on that atleast for another moment while everyone exited. "Thanks," The fourth year didn't forget to say, looking to Xana, before moving towards the door as told.

ooc: Yes, the monkey was petrified in Divination.
Cassandra made her way back into the classroom, with the petrified monkey in Amelia Rose's bag. "Professor, I caught him, the monkey. He was in the Divination classroom. I'll need the bag back though..." Cassandra said nearly chuckling.

As alot of the two legged things started to get up and move again the Cheetah didn't mind. That just meant no cage for her. When the girl gave her two of the round things the Cheetah gobbled them up. She liked this girl; as long as she didn't lock her in a cage and gave her more round things. Hearing the two legged peoples weird sounds the Cheetah recognized one of them from the water place (Clark). She didn't like that one.
As the girl got up the Cheetah noticed that she had left two more round things, deciding to save them the Cheetah began to follow the girl. Where was she going? She needed her if she ever got hungry! Stopped the Cheetah realized something, It was the two legged thing from the lake's fault! The Cheetah stopped following the girl and began to get closer and closer to the two legged person from the lake; the one in charge.

Taking the fruit from her, he tilted his toward the other one that had spoken. He decided to jump on the desk close to her (Lyra), in order to watch her as he ate the fruit. Her eyes was intriguing him and he was wondering if either of them were safe to be around. Then again, the previous experience had taught him to be careful and not let his guard down.
Agie smiled ad the monkey took another fruit and went over to Lyra. He seemed to like them both now. Agie was happy that lyra got a turn as well. He head turned into the direction of Amelia and Cassandra.
Cassandra smirked... "He'd be a better seeker than Rose..." she muttered to herself... She really didn't like that prefect...
The monkey a better seeker than Amelia. Agie tried to just smirk, but she couldn't help laughing, and very loudly at this comment. Good call.
"Trelawney! That is a lie ... and you know it..." she said, angrily. Oh how badly she wanted to slap that Slytherin, but despite her anger, she would not risk detention. Then turning to face the Ravenclaw captain, "As for you Tag, good luck getting this thing trained to ride a broom in a week." She would be as polite as possible to her opposition team, even though she was still kind of scared of that bat.
She turned to see Amelia's reaction, and it was just as she thought. Can't she take a joke? Agie snickered more.
Cassandra smirked... She loved getting under the Hufflepuff's skin. "They got YOU trained... didn't they?" she sneared.
Cassandra made the giggles keep on coming. Agie wondered why they have never officially met. The has something in common, one of Agie's favourite pastimes, taunting Amelia.
Even the monkey was on their side. He was off throwing fruits at her. Good boy!
Fabian walked back into the classroom with a cage in his arm, he was immediately greeted by the Prefects bickering scene. Initially he blinked, but when he heard the roar coming from one end of the classroom, his heart jolted, almost skipping a beat at the sight of a cheetah.
"What are you two doing bickering around when the entire class is in danger!" he tried to keep his temper in check, but those two prefects weren't helping at all. "Get the students out of here!" he waved a hand towards the door, before he skipped down the aisle himself, now where is that bloody monkey.
Agie looked up at Fabian and around the emptying classroom. She looked to see Lyra still sitting at her desk. Agie's face would have been red from all that giggling. She got up and walked over to Lyra. "I guess we should go too. Unless you uncle needs any help." She said more loud that normal, and looked back to see Fabians response.

Lyra was more than thrilled that the little monkey finally came up to her and took some of her fruit. But...he then disappeared. Sigh! As she watched him make his way over to Mia, Lyra let out her giggles, watching the monkey sticking his tongue out...well, both of them actually. "And this is my house Prefect," she whispered as she leaned into Agie and giggled more.
But soon, all the fun was ending as Fabian was kicking out all students. It was just the same cheetah that was the lake before and there was no in the harm, except for the one time when she saw the animal charging other students...well, yeah..."I'm sure that Fabian can take care of things. We can go in search of other animals if you like? That cheetah kind of scared me at the lake before." That last part she had to whisper because she didn't want others to know she was afraid of a little cheetah.

Agie laughed about Lyra's comment. "Yes I envy you because you have such a great prefect." She smirked.
Agie made a pouty face. She liked the cheetah. "Awww oook than." She said slowly, and then a thought came to her head. "Ooo I know where the Eagle is. Come on Lyra, follow me." She said, grabbing her hand and running out of the room.

Fabian wasn't a religious man, but in that instant he saw his life flash behind his eye. "Oh lord" he whispered along with a small prayer. He won't hex a student, even if it was dangerous as a cheetah.
His arms crossed tightly across the bag that he held against his chest, eyes fixed on the Cheetah, not sure what made him talk to it. But he decided anyway, since either way he would die. "So you wanted to learn about mermaids?" he croaked taking a step back at the same time.

But at the mention of the nurse coming to check on him because she thought he might be in trouble, that really got his attention. He smiled slyly in her direction. Tag conjured a container of water, still grumbling to himself that after all that work, someone else had caught the monkey. And not even any someone--Trelawney! Of all the people who didn't deserve to catch a monkey. Tag would not wish her on his worst enemy.
And now, of course, Nurse Numel had roped down the cheetah, using a similar spell he'd tried himself the night before at the lake. Which the cheetah had easily evaded before attempting to charge them all down and eat their heads.
He approached the big cat cautiously. "Professor, don't you think we ought to put her in an enclosure of some sort. . . she might hurt herself trying to get loose of the ropes." Tag set the water down in front of the cheetah, eyeing her giant white fangs.

Right, she thought noticing his hand waving. He probably thought she was just one to complain, but in reality that wasn't normally what she was like. Honestly, the sixth year had no idea what had come over her lately. Amelia nodded to Clark and was about to get a phial from her bag when she realized the monkey was trapped in it. That complicated things.
And then on top of things, she overheard some slytherin complaining about what they were learning about. None of the above, she thought, trying to refrain from laughing. Phial; right.
"Accio one phial," she muttered. Oddly enough, her summoning charm worked well and a phial came zooming towards her, presumably from the kitchens. "Aguamenti," she said as the phial began to fill with water. "There you are Pr-" The Hufflepuff carried the water over to the tall professor, but paused when it seemed the Ravenclaw Captain had beat her to it.
"Uh, more water here as well," she murmured towards Tag, in disbelief that he got the water...

Rhiannon had stayed in her corner, watching the cheetah inch toward Professor Clark, when the Slytherin prefect had come in, announcing she had the monkey. And then it seemed like everything was happening at once. People were talking, Tag was giving water to the cheetah, Amelia was too, it seemed like Josh was being threatened, and the nurse had come in.
She felt her way to a chair before she got overwhelmed, and sat down. It wouldn't help for her to faint again now. Digging in her bag, she slips out an orange and starts eating it quietly, not wanting to leave class right now, even though she was supposed to have left with everyone else. If others were still here, she was staying. If someone needed anything, they could always ask her.

He approached the big cat cautiously. "Professor, don't you think we ought to put her in an enclosure of some sort. . . she might hurt herself trying to get loose of the ropes." Tag set the water down in front of the cheetah, eyeing her giant white fangs.
Fabian raised a brow at Josh, "seeing you experience 'caging' first handedly i would come to conclude you did not come to like the experience. So I don't believe caging the Cheetah in, is a good idea" his head turned tag as he continued.
"I suppose a certain confinement of sorts would be a very good idea Tag, perhaps an invisible barrier on all four sides of the cheetah. That wouldn't come to her as imprisonment. Do you know you how to cast it up? I'd want at least three students, one on each side" he trailed off thoughtfully flipping the idea around in his head.
"Thank you Amelia for the water" he murmured towards the Hufflepuff prefect for conjuring water. He didn't even realize that this was the third or fourth time he has come to say her name. Funny memory he had.
She removed the ropes from the Cheetah and quickly conjured up a plate of food for it. No reason for it to go hungry. Hopefully that would sustain it until they figured out something else to do. She noticed that water had been placed in front of it as well and grinned that it was being taken care of. At least some of the kids were being helpful. "I'll take a look at your leg after all this if you'd like." Ari finally got around to saying.
"Your very kind" Fabian murmured watching the ropes fly off the Cheetah. "I always said it was the magic in you, didn't I" he mused peaking over the food that was conjured up as well. He would have said a few Shakespeare lines, but it wasn't appropriate infront of students, so he coughed instead and murmured, "well yes, later sounds good" he flashed a charming smile at the nurse. She was too kind, for her own good.
The monkey was still in that ugly bag unable to move from a reason that he couldn't comprehend. This was very frustrating for him. He wish he could express himself from everything that had been going on but no, a bad creature had done something to him. By the sound of it, he was back near the evil yellow one but he could also hear the good one. Regretted starting to fill his little mind about having leave him. This wouldn't probably have happens if he had stayed.

Tag backed away from the cheetah, now that there were no ropes holding her jaws closed. Sure there might be a plate of food in front of her, but what if she preferred human heads?
"Amelia and I could stand on either side, Professor," Tag offered, then glanced around for a third wall-holder. Josh was preoccupied with his stress-induced hysteria, and the other kid had obviously been daydreaming. His eyes landed on one of his teammates. "Rhi's over there--she can hold up the other side." He leaned forward and patted the bag in Clark's hand. "Don't worry, fella. We'll get you set up in a comfy place, too."
He frowned at the professor and Nurse Numel. "They told us not to try and petrify the animals, since they're students. If that was safe, plenty of professors could have done that a long time ago." And now Trelawney was earning points. He felt his dislike for the monkey-petrifying prefect rising.
The monkey was trying to fight the invisible cage that was keeping him from expressing himself and moving. It had to be one of the bad creature that had done it but the reason why was still uncertain in his head. They had to be very strong to be able to keep him like that without even touching him. At least in the cage he was able to move and communicate. If only he could be able to move, he would be able to go hide in the creature clothes (Tag) and sleep for a while.

Amelia blinked as Professor Clark seemed to finally remember her name, as he had said it maybe three times today. It was about time too. She nodded towards him after finally realizing that he had requested people to cast an invisible barrier on all four sides of the cheetah.
"Huh? What?!" the sixth year looked over from her bag with the monkey to Tag, as he said her name. "Yea I can help... and Rhiannon on the other side. Do we need a fourth?" she asked, hoping one of the professors would volunteer.

"Well Marco, its a good thing that creating an invisible barrier should have nothing to do with the clothes changing spell," Amelia said, trying not to snicker as she remembered his boxers. That was an image that she surely never wanted to see again, but would also never forget. "Although if you'd rather work better in your boxers..."

"Well working in my boxers is very liberating. I am wearing a lovely silk pair today, if you would like to see of course Amelia?" Marco smiled, "I wouldn't trust my magic though. Whoever is opposite me might become semi-naked." He wanted to make sure Amelia was opposite, just in case that happened.

"I'd rather not," Amelia said firmly to the slytherin captain. What was it with older boys and wanting to show their boxers off anyway? Besides, the kid was married now. She shook her head, "well then, have Tag stand opposite you." The last thing she wanted was to appear semi-naked in front of half the class.

Rhiannon looked up from her orange in surprise as she heard both Tag and Amelia volunteer her for something. And it appeared Marco was being his usual self. "Sure, I can hold up a side. If I was aware of what spell we were casting." She knew she generally could accomplish any spell, but needed to know what she was doing first.
She had finished her snack, so she swept the peel into her bag to dispose of it later as she stood and approached the others carefully.

"Excellent Rhian!" Amelia said, looking away from Marco momentarily towards her Ravie friend. "We have four people now, all we need is the spell... anyone have any ideas?" For some reason she was blanking on her spellwork and couldn't remember any that would conjure an invisible barrier. And of course, like all other useful things, her spellbook was in her bag, which was holding the monkey hostage.
The sixth year looked back over towards Marco, stunned at what he had said. He thinks I'm pretty!? But his wife... "Uh thank you!?" she said, unsure of what her response should be. "And I thought it would be Tag's acclaimed six-pack that would interest you more."

Rhiannon smiled ruefully and shook her head. "Nope. Sorry. Can't think of any invisible barrier spells." This had to be the first time she had left her spellbook up in her dorm. The one time she wasn't already aware of a spell.
She raised an eyebrow a fraction as Amelia thanked Marco for his comment. Personally, she tended to ignore the Slytherin. He wasn't exactly on her list of friends, or people she wanted to be friends with. And her eyebrow went up even more at the Huffie's comment about Tag. She'd been in the locker room with the captain nad hadn't seen anything. But then, the last time, she wasn't exactly in the condition to notice anything. Looking back, she was actually surprised she had even listened to the professor's pep talk after the game.

As a two legged thing sent ropes at her again the Cheetah knew that she had been caught. This only meant one thing: back to the cage. The Cheetah tried to escape from the ropes she knew it was useless but she didn't want to be trapped again. When a two two legged things put water and food in front of her the Cheetah stopped trying to escape. Even if they were evil at least they were still giving her food. Now looking around at the two legged people instead of trying to escape she wondered what they were going to do.

Amelia was quite shocked that Rhiannon of all people didn't know any spells to create an invisible barrier. Rhiannon was probably one of the best students she knew with spells, which was strange to admit, but it was true. That girl could perform any spell perfectly, usually after just one try.
She racked her brain trying to remember where she heard of such a spell being used. Turning back to look at Marco, she grinned. "Oh really now, I totally could not tell from your boxer incident." She smirked.
"Um, what about a simple shield spell?" the sixth year suggested, as she eyed the cheetah, who seemed to be annoyed by the ropes. "Between all of us, I'm sure it would be strong enough to hold the creature in."

"Quite so Tag" Fabian croaked on, "we'd rather not petrify any of the students. But under severe circumstances, certain measures must be taken" he allowed himself to glance at Nurse number before taking a few steps around the group of students and stationed himself on side of the Cheetah.

Protego creates an invisible barrier between yourself and the attacking object, so why would it not be effective? If anything, there is also Protego totalum, which is a defense charm that protects a larger area." she shrugged and looked towards the professors, hoping they would give some guidance as to what spell might effective.
She tried hard to stifle a laugh with what Clark said to Marco about the swooning and locking himself in a closet. Marco would enjoy that one too much though. Oh he was too funny, that man was. Part of her agreed with what he said; the only real conjuring spell she knew she was good at was the one her cousin had taught her and she had used in her duel against Josh at the beginning of the term. And she didn't think anyone would appreciate a golden eagle flying around, under the circumstances.
She silently nodded as he told them to use the shield charm. Easy. But maybe I should cast it verbally, in order to not confuse anyone, she thought. As she vaguely heard Amelia counting, she took her wand out and went by the Huffie's count. As she heard "three", she waved her wand on her side of the cheetah and confidently said, "Protego!", feeling the shield appear in front of her, between herself and the animal. Now she just had to hope it held.

Tag did his best to ignore Marco's chauvanistic parading, much like he tried to ignore him on the Quidditch pitch. He was obviously insecure in his masculinity. Tag, on the other hand, preferred to keep the color (and pattern) of his underpants to only those closest to him. Namely, the hedgehog, the rat, and the jarvey.
"One, two, three, protego," Tag counted with the rest of them, casting up his shield. It was a simple spell compared with conjuring, but he was wondering how Professor Clark planned to keep it permanent. Or were they going to stand here with the shield up until the potions were ready? After all this catching-and-holding-and-escaping, Tag was beginning to doubt the existence of the potions altogether. This was all just a cruel plot to make him want to own a monkey.

Rhiannon watched the cheetah wandering around between the shields. She felt kind of bad that the poor creature couldn't understand what was happening to it.
She tried to keep most of her focus on keeping the spell going. It wouldn't do to falter and accidentally let the cheetah get away. Taking a deep breath, she hoped that they wouldn't have to stand there holding the shields for too long. If they did, someone would have to figure out how to get food to them. And the Quidditch game was happening soon, and she knew at least three of them had to be there.
Yawning the monkey was stretching himself when he suddenly froze. He could move!! Opening his eyes, he looked around him. He could recognized where he was and also that some of them were guarding his furry friend. Inspecting the cage he was in, he noticed that they were not in very good condition which was making it easier for him as he pushed on of the bar. CLANG!! He had enough space now to get his body out here.

Amelia gasped as she heard some banging and the little devil monkey had broken free. Oh darn, but at least its not chomping on my books anymore! She had truthfully been afraid of what the monkey might have done to her belongings, and although she should be more concerned about keeping the darned thing contained, having it in her bag was not helpful.
Her attention quickly was startled though as she heard a roar coming from the cheetah. Tightening her grip on her wand, she prayed silently for the walls to hold. For if they didn't, then who knows what or whom that cheetah would attack first.
Cassandra walked to the CoMC classroom door.
Cheetah was still loose.
"Professor Clark? I re-apprehended the Monkey. I believe it will be safer if I just take him to professor Branxton on the fifth floor." She wondered if he was going to give her another 10 points for catching him again...
Still all cuddly in the creature's arms, the monkey respiration was calm and slow. He was at peace and not feeling any danger around him. He had no clue he was back in the same class or he would have run away without hesitation.
Dreaming about montain of bright yellow bananas with nuts and other type of food, he made some very soft sound.
Cassandra was cradling the monkey tenderly, petting it's head so it would remain asleep. She turned around in the doorway and made her way to the stairs. Branxton was probably still on the 5th floor.

She knew that the Slytherin prefect had gotten her temper to flare before, and so figured she just had a talent for getting on people's bad sides.
Even with all this going through her head, she was happy to know that her part of the spell had withstood. The cheetah, who was still attempting to find a way out, was still contained by the shields.
