View Full Version : Class #2
Hendrik
03-26-2004, 06:43 PM
Professor Hendrik erases his notes from the blackboard and clears his desk. He then levitates the tank containing the Quandury and heads back to his office. As he is leaving his classroom he can't help but wonder where the congregation from.......*thinks to himself* "where could they be...possible delays...last term........I wonder what she's doing now." His cheeks flush.

*Nadia wanders in and takes seat; she notices the professor flushed cheeks, apparently thinking to himself.
"Hi, professor, is everything fine?" Nadia asks with a polite puzzled face.*
Shacklebolt

Mr. Shrine walks next to Professor Hendrik.
"Reporting for Duty, Sir" he said with a laugh
Shacklebolt
03-26-2004, 06:50 PM
Mr. Shrine assembled all his notes and waited for more students to show.
Hendrik
03-26-2004, 06:53 PM
"Yes Nadia, everything is fine...just preoccupied. Ah Mr. Shrine, very good! Well I will leave the students in your care, I have some...er....things to check on. Enjoy yourselves!"
With that, Professor Hendrik takes the Quandury and heads for his office.

"Hello Nadia, how are you today?" he says politely.
"Hello Professor......., Mr. Shrine?"

*Sees Professor Hendrik go, puzzled, and turns to Mr Shrine.
"Are you teaching us today, Mr Shrine?" Nadia asks. "Why so? There seems not to be anything wrong with the professor  "

"Yes, I will be teaching this class. I'm afraid that is all you have to know." he said
Shacklebolt
03-26-2004, 07:02 PM
Mr Shrine then took out a picture of a Unicorn (http://elc2000.ednet.ns.ca/beach%20unicorn.jpg). He then muttered
Engorgio!
The picture enlargened.

Rookwood enters the class.
"Hi Proffesor,"he said with a smile and took his seat.

"I am not a sub, Skiving. I am a guest speaker. Nadia, that's okay. Save your pictures for later. Soon, you may want to take some new ones" he said
"Lesson will now begin"
"Now who can tell me why the Ministry gives Unicorns an XXXX classification?"
She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho!
03-26-2004, 07:16 PM
cause they are the target of muggles and need to be protected. And it must be treated with great respect
Shacklebolt
03-26-2004, 07:19 PM
"Excellent, both of you.
Five points to Slytherin. Five Points to Hufflepuff!"
"Okay. Now, who can tell me the color of a unicorn at an adolescent stage?"
She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho!
03-26-2004, 07:21 PM
when grow up its skin is the purest white; they reach this stage a little pefore being grow up, before that the are golden.
rookwood
03-26-2004, 07:22 PM
"gold i think" said rookwood
Shacklebolt
03-26-2004, 07:22 PM
"Correct again! Excellent, Skiving" he said
"Now I am looking for your opinions. I am sure you all know about the dastardly use of Unicorn blood. Now I want to ask you: Should Unicorn blood be provided in hospitals for those who need life support?"

"No, as the bloods use can cuase more harm then good. Also killing such a Creature is wrong." Mike says.
She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho!
03-26-2004, 07:25 PM
The blood of the unicorm is cursed because you live a life by killing something so pure...
Shacklebolt
03-26-2004, 07:25 PM
"Interesting. BUT. What if they needed only a few more days to live, just to set their affairs straight?"
HPgurl
03-26-2004, 07:25 PM
'Of course not. Personally, I don't see the point of living if you've only got a half-life...thats just my opinion though'
rookwood
03-26-2004, 07:26 PM
No it is a most unholy act to kill such a noble animal.
She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho!
03-26-2004, 07:28 PM
No, I don't think so... maybe they could use another part of the body without harming it, like the thorn and hairs which have powerful properties as well.
And well, it's such a beautiful thing... I wouldn't dare touch it, my case
HPgurl
03-26-2004, 07:29 PM
I agree with She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! I wouldn't be able to kill a creature as beautiful and pure as a unicorn but if another part of the body could be used without harming the unicorn...I still wouldn't do it, but I guess some people are desprate enough to.
Shacklebolt
03-26-2004, 07:30 PM
" I don't mean killing the Unicorn, I mean if a Unicorn is already dead" he said. He was curious, but he had very bright students. He didn't tell them that.. yet
Backslash
03-26-2004, 07:31 PM
Personally I wouldn't bother to kill a unicorn under any circumstance. My life isn't worth taking anothers, expecially the life of a defenseless creature.
If the unicorn was already dead, I still wouldn't. One should respect the living and the dead.
HPgurl
03-26-2004, 07:32 PM
Even if the unicorn was already dead, I would still feel guilty.
Shacklebolt
03-26-2004, 07:33 PM
"Backslash, just to let you know, Unicorns are NOT defenseless. They have a horn on their head, remember? Anyway, I will allow you to discuss this topic amongst yourselves for a while. And I would like to see the class come up with a verdict upon my request"
She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho!
03-26-2004, 07:33 PM
Well... apart from how disgusting that is.... I don't know, I supposed it would depend of the person; if he/she would risk being cursed after death even by only some more minutes alive... who knows! Given the case, when you are about to die and lost a lot of things you may think it's better to live such a life... or such a *death* more like...
HPgurl
03-26-2004, 07:35 PM
If you had only a half-life, after you drank the blood, would you even have the right thinking to be able to use your last days, minutes to set your affairs in order?

She thinks for a moment then says, "I'd don't think we should use the horn if it has to be removed and can't grow back."
Well, how do the wizard kind make their wands if they can't get hold of the unicorn's parts someway without killing them? I doubt they, the wand-makers, want to be cursed by doing so, there MUST be a way of getting it off without killing them...
She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho!
03-26-2004, 07:42 PM
Skiving smiled at her intelligent friend. "I just meant the horn, not the hair."
*Frowns pondering* But don't we use the thorn powder in potions and stuff. And I'm pretty sure there's thorn powder in the wands too, though I might be wrong.
*Nadia smiles at Skiving* Well, thanks^^ Though you are wining me over fr quite an amount =P
I still think it changes from person to person, matter to their history... If I were to loose something so imporant in my life if dying - like the love of my life, to be corny only- I think there's possibilitties to risk everything over that, even your afterlife.
HPgurl
03-26-2004, 07:44 PM
Like I said before though, with a half-life, would you be able to think the same way, feel the same emotions? I don't know, but probaly not, so wouldn't it be usless anyway?
Shacklebolt
03-26-2004, 07:45 PM
"Okay, I've heard you, and I know that you are still against it. Unicorn Tail Hairs are removed by simply plucking the hair from the unicorn. I'm sure some of you must have a unicorn hair in your wands. As for horns, the companies do not release it. I know for a fact it does not hurt nor kill the unicorn, though"
HPgurl

I would NOT say he is *innocent*, but I think there's reason why one would like to risk their afterlife... if there's an afterlife to start with, that is...

Well, as the professor said nobody knows what's a half-life but those who have it. But I kinda agree with you in what a half-life must be -- I've a theory of my own : I think a half-life eliminate all *feelings* within yourself.
Strangely that's what both heroes and villans want (and most humans); not to have feelings, so that way they are pefect and doesn't have the feelings being an obtacle to their doing. And paradoxically that's being *alive* after all; you still have blood inside you if you can feel it boil and make you feel hot inside. If not you are a robot, and life isn't worthliving.

I like what you said about the heros and vilians not wanting feelings, odd though that in those muggle movies, the heroes always end up in love.....
Maybe they are like robots, no one really knows, like Mr. Shrine said, but themselves, personaly, I don't want to imagine what it would feel like to have a half-life.

I'm guesing actually, if while living you are protected from death, I think death, or after it, should be cursed as well. In other words; you would be going to *Hell*
It's like, killing a unicorn is the evilest of the evilest =P to put it someway, because there isn't but a most pure creature, and you are to be punished. Sounds to me like a Biblical rule or something. Maybe the half-life means you have got a foot on hell and the other in this world. A *living* hell in other words.

And foals, are the female ones right? Do you know why this is, she asks interestedly.
"No, foals are babies, or kids"

Oh, ok, she says, rather embarrassed.

Shacklebolt

"They search forests for unicorns of the opposite gender. Much like humans and other animals"

Prof., do you know why, unicorns are so pure? They're white, cuz they're pure, I'm sure?!
Shacklebolt
03-26-2004, 09:08 PM
"No, Dawn, colour doesn't mean a thing. Same thing with humans. Colour doesn't matter, why should it? Anyway, They're just pure naturally... sort of like Angels" he said, thinking
Dawn Bloom
03-26-2004, 09:10 PM
ooc: Yes I agree, I just mean in stories and in books, or even brides, they where white because they're "pure".
"Right, Prof. I totally agree, that's an interesting theory," she said thinking as well.

Do Unicorns prefer day or night? Or do they have no preference?

"Do any unicorns fly, though I doubt it?"
Shacklebolt
03-26-2004, 09:16 PM
"Nadia, Unicorns are as smart or smarter then humans. That's all we can say. HPgurl, Unicorns are generally shy of humans, and have excellent night vision, so i presume it'd be night"

*Blinks* I thought so but I'm sure to have read somewhere, probably Newts Scamander's FB book, that they were not intelligent at all, which seemed ridiculous if I may.
 That's the winged-horse! Such as the thestral, granian & aethonan, you most probably heard of them, Dawn. Unicorns galopate, and really fast at that!

"you can go"
The homework is
Two paragraphs on Unicorns. I'm not setting guidelines, I just ask that you write about what you find most interesting about them.
Then, I would like one paragraph on the debate we had earlier on unicorn blood.

However, if a http://www.snitchseeker.com/forum/style_images/1/t_poll.gif were to be taken, the tail hair would win, because it resides in wands, which can do so much"

If a person were to like say shave off some powder from the Unicorn's Horn, would that powder be used to enhance one's magical power?

"No, it would not. The main purpose of Unicorn Horns are for potions. If the potion was a magically enhancing potion and it need unicorn horn, then it'd be a different story, but not itself, no it wouldn't"

"There are many different kinds. But really, only powerful potions need unicorn horn in them. I'm no potion expert, but I know that the Draught of Living Death, or the most powerful potion used for sleeping, in some cases needs a unicorn horn. Not all, some. Also, a Rejuvenation potion that is used on a Unicorn needs a shaving of the horn of a unicorn. Horns grow back, though, of course"
