The most important area of the shop is also the largest and usually most jam-packed. Wide metal tables take up the majority of the shop, each one laden with albums both old and new in various forms. There are so many tables that they are very carefully set up to just barely allow enough space for customers to walk past each other in the makeshift aisles. The tables, while regularly fixed to the floor, have the added benefit of being able to be banished to the back room by the shopkeeper to open up the floor space for shows and events. Unfortunately, this means that with each visit, you may find yourself searching for the table you wish to find, as it could turn up in a different area each day.

All types of recording media can be found on these tables - some are full of records, their jackets carefully arranged to be flipped through without damaging the vinyl within. Others are stacked with cassette tapes, the spines of their plastic casings turned upward to display the names of bands and albums. More still bear old compact discs in their jewel cases, in mint condition unless labeled otherwise. While not as plentiful, 8-track tapes and shellac records can also be found as well; the appropriate devices to play all of these things, paired with large over-ear headphones, can also be found at each table.

While a great many of the tables are dedicated to well-known Muggle recording formats, a fair amount of them are also dedicated to "item albums" as well. Small boxes bearing a band and album name litter these tables, stacked together haphazardly; inside are items the size of a knut, varying in colour and shape dependent on the box's label. A single tap with a wand will cause the album to begin to play aloud; should one choose to, the album can also be stuck behind the ear to be played privately, so as to not disturb others.

Feel free to browse and sample music from bands both new & old, Muggle & Wizard. Just remember - you break it, you bought it, and some of the items could turn out to be fairly pricey.

Eden (http://www.polyvore.com/eden_fall_2089/set?id=199163751) was in London for the day to buy some potions supplies for Uni and had heard there was this cool new place in Diagon; a music shop! ABOUT DAMN TIME. She was pleased as soon as she slipped inside, letting the door close behind her.

Ahhh.

It smelled like a new store, and the enormous amounts of new music...old music...and ANCIENT music was astounding. She needed to take Phe here. He would LOVE it. Now where to start...where to start....

The tables! LOOK AT ALL OF IT. GAH.

The tables! LOOK AT ALL OF IT. GAH. Atticus was rather distracted today, though he tried to keep himself as busy with work as possible. There was still no news on his missing cousin and sales here were a little less than he had hoped for a grand opening. Perhaps he should have rushed things to have it open during summer. But he told himself that this was for the best and it would work out, and he wasn't about to outwardly show his concern. Just his cool and casual usual self.

He had heard the door open as he was re-shelving some of the merchandise and he watched as a very attractive woman came in to look around. Atticus turned his attention away to finish his work, then he sauntered her way to see if she needed any assistance, or just to chat up another music lover.

"Anything I can help you with, Miss?"

The brunette looked up and smiled, giving him a little chuckle as she gestured at the shop. "This is brilliant! When did you open?" she asked, shoving her hands in her pockets and walking over to him. "You sell both muggle and magical stuff? Old and new?" she had spotted an Agro album a second ago, and it made her heart skip a beat, especially since she knew they were splitting up.

Ugh.

Broke her heart, ugh.

"Is business going okay?" she asked curiously. "I live all the way in Cairo--else I'd probably be around here all the time." Since Eden loved music. BLED MUSIC. MUSIC ALL THE TIME.

"I'm glad you approve. I figured that there was a need that I could meet." And he was sure that people would agree soon enough. "Just opened last week, actually." Still technically his grand opening, he'd suppose. "That's exactly what I sell," he smiled a bit smugly. "Was there anything specific you were looking for, or just browsing?" Though he really wouldn't mind her taking her time to look around.

"Cairo?" He raised an eyebrow. "That's quite a distance... Well, I'm glad you stopped in today. You seem like something of a music lover... Do you sing or play? Or just listen?" There certainly was nothing wrong with that, because it would be the fans to keep him in business. But he was curious, and nothing wrong with chatting up a pretty lady.

Just last week, huh. Eden nodded and.......she really got a look at the guy. Like REALLY looking at him...and she thought she--

"I RECOGNIZE YOU!" she cried suddenly. "You sang uh--that song--what the heck was it called--FOE GLASS REFLECTIONS!" she was positively BOUNCING. "Wow--SILVER STREELER! Right? Am I right?!" She was right she KNEW SHE WAS RIGHT.

She was excited now. And he was cute. Like. SO cute. Those tattoos...her blue eyes glazed over his arms briefly before meeting his gaze again. "Weeelllllll I'm mostly...looking for some old wizard rock...any chance you have some vinyls of like, Wiggenweld or...oooh any Cast Iron Magick?" She hadn't listened to Cast Iron in FOREVER. Ugh. "I just listen..." she explained, shoving her hands in her pockets and slipping off her engagement ring into her pocket. "I know people in the music world." Phoenix, mostly.

As the woman seemed to be checking him out, he looked her over as well, his arm still leaned casually against one of the tables. She was rather easy on the eyes after all and he currently didn't have any other customers in the store who needed his attention.

Though he was somewhat used to the occasional random fan recognizing him, the woman's sudden exclamation took him by surprise. "Yes, that's right," he grinned. "I was in Silver Streeler. I was their guitarist actually. Atticus Zeller." Foe Glass Reflections was easily their biggest hit, but being several years ago, it sometimes got lost in the more current music. "You must be a fan," he added, giving her a charming smile. He was always happy to meet his fans. Especially very attractive ones.

Old wizard rock on vinyl. Sure. "Ah, wrock using muggle means. Those are slightly more rare but I do carry that in stock." Many of the magical bands preferred the magical forms of delivering their music, but there were quite a few that also liked to put their music on vinyl just for the vintage experience. "That's right this way, Miss." He put his hand on her back to lead her that way. "Well," he smiled, "We do need fans. Musicians are nothing without them." Even if he played music for himself and didn't get into it for anyone else, it was important for people to listen and relate. And also buy.

Jaxson needed more music and who better to help him was his wife and child. He wanted more smoother music to help soothe their little one while he was trying to get him to sleep. and plus for him to travel to work, Jaxson loved to take the train and having music helped the travels.

"babe, if you like anything let me know" he valued her opinion because she had amazing taste in music and well pretty much anything

Zeller. Eden smiled her broad, wide smile and nodded. "Nice to officially meet you, Atticus. My name's Eden.." she said and held out her hand for him to shake. "I'm just...really into music...and all kinds, too...anything that can take me places," she said with a giggle. "Guitar. Wicked cool," she commented. "And I listened to some of your band's other stuff...I actually don't think Foe Glass Reflections was the best one...but I can't remember the others because it's been a few years." And she hadn't ever bought their album either :O

Of course, Eden knew it was rare. So she didn't expect him to carry it in the store so when he SAID HE HAD THEM SHE BEAMED. "Oh MERLIN! You have them?!?!?!?! WOW!" she bounced a little on the balls of her feet and followed beside him, noting his hand on her back...

Ahem.

"OH wow...WOW...um...can you reach them? I..." height challenged, yeah?

Family time!! She didn't know if this was the best place for family time but she would take what was thrown at her at them moment. She was having such a busy schedule lately. She just couldn't deal with everything at work but at the same time she really loved her job.

Wilhelmina (http://www.polyvore.com/let_me_love_you_home/set?id=200245903) followed her very handsome husband into the the new music shop. As the woman walked into the shop she held Harrison's hand. She knew it was new because she had never seen it before...unless it had been here for a long time then she just wasn't paying much attention to her. She looked at her husband and smile. "Will do."

Smiling back at his wife he flipped through a bunch of music and stopped a few tracks and took them out and placed them in his basket. Turning back he stared at Willa and Harrison and he wouldn't mind letting her have some free time to maybe relax. "Hey Harrison, come see daddy" he bent down and saw his little man run and he held him up in his arms. He loved his little man.

"want to help daddy pick out some music" flipping through more he took out one to show him. While his son was looking at the track Jaxson looked over again at Willa "maybe he'll be a rock star" he smiled at her.

Atticus returned the woman's smile. "Eden.. Such a beautiful name, it suits you well," he said, taking her offered hand to shake. "You are certainly in the right place then. I'm sure you can find exactly what you're looking for." He was always happy to meet a fan and she sure seemed like one. "Oh, have you? Yes, it has been a few years.." He didn't care to elaborate on that though. "Our album is here too, if you needed it." No pressure though.

He had to chuckle at her enthusiasm though. And of course it was always his goal to make his customers happy. "Oh, yes, sure I can do that for you." The merchandise wasn't that high up, but he supposed she was a tad on the short side Reaching up, he looked through his collection of vinyls, pulling out a few from the bands she had mentioned. "You didn't specify which albums, but maybe some of these are of interest?"

Ahem.

No confessions from her, though.

Eden took the albums he had gotten and looked through them. How much was she willing to spend on music right now? And records, too. Hmm. "One of each band..." she mumbled to herself. She just had to decide which one..."Not too many of their albums are in vinyl," she spoke of Wiggenwold. "So I think I'll take this one--" she picked one of their earlier ones and smiled. "As for Cast Iron Magick..." she didn't know what to do. "Have you heard their bass player is doing a solo album? Do you think that's true?" Rocco Marsden, a solo album. Wow.

What better place to hear a bit of juicy gossip than a crowded music store? She (http://www.polyvore.com/tess_da_2090/set?id=201184285) could hardly take three steps without bumping into someone by accident and almost all conversations were loud enough for her to hear so really, she was bound to find a story or at the very least-some inspiration for creative writing.

You had to love Diagon Alley.

Really, was there anything better than music? Harker (http://i66.tinypic.com/15eu4nl.jpg) was sure there wasn't, and thus he found himself ducking into the music shop, out of the cold that had Diagon Alley in what seemed like a permafrost. Once inside he immediately stripped off his coat and stuffed it under one of the tables, hopefully out of sight enough that it wouldn't disappear on him; it was warm enough inside that he knew he wouldn't want it in a good minute. The tall man bypassed the counter, eyes lingering on the giant wall of shirts along the back of the shop before he made his way directly to the table littered with boxes and boxes of the item albums.

These things were so great for work. One little tap, and he could tune out an entire bar's worth of boring stories and needy patrons. They were honestly the best, and he wasn't sure how he had lived without them. As he passed by a girl (Tess) who was just sorta... standing in his road, he bumped into her, unable to fully get by with how close-quarters everything was.

"Sorry," he tossed over his shoulder, before leaning over the table and rummaging about to search for something good.

"Of course you are," Was the girl's reply from her place on the floor, having dropped a record because of the mishap. Hopefully it wasn't broken. Seemed a shame to have ruined a-oh, ew. Yeah, if it was broken, it'd be doing that band a favor.

"Excuse me, pardon me, trying to get up here." Like, getting down to retrieve the record had seemed like a good idea at the time but she was definitely stuck down there now.

What on earth was that woman doing on the floor. Hark glanced up from what he was doing, one hand having snapped up an album called Cerberus that he hadn't seen here before. It looked interesting, and he was intent on trying it, but... he stepped back another step or two, giving her room and holding out his hand. Because even if he hadn't knocked her down, it was polite to help a woman up, especially if they were... standing... like, under your feet.

"Mind your head," he said pointedly, eyes flickering to the table's edge.

"So sweet of you to be concerned," Tess replied as she took hold of the record and the man's hand with her free one. Once she was on her feet, she gave him a once over. Not the most tragic looking guy on the planet, so there was that.

"Thanks for the help, really." She did appreciate it, even if she blamed him for the whole being on the floor ordeal in the first place. "I'm Tess Song." Gossip columnist extraordinaire. "And you are?"

The look didn't go unnoticed, and Hark was having a difficult time figuring out if she was being sarcastic or if she was being genuine. It was easier to assume the latter, and once she was up off the floor he gave her a grin and glanced at the record she had been holding.

"Not their best work, that one," he said helpfully, gesturing toward it as she offered her name. He offered his hand again in return, for shaking instead of helping up. "Harker James. Hark."

He gave her a look over too, like she had done to him. Just because he could.

He had listened to it. Once, ages ago. It could be a grower, possibly... but he wasn't willing to give it that chance. Because it had just been bad. Hark looked back at the table with the item albums on it and fished around through them absently with one hand, splitting his attention between her and the titles.

"Serving drinks to pretty girls. And old men. Who aren't nearly as interesting, hence..." he held up the album he'd already selected. "Good for drowning out people who think firewhiskey is a pass for telling their entire life story."

Since she was already planning on buying several, he did sometimes give group discounts. "Did you want that on vinyl also?" He was sure he had a copy of it here.

He waited a moment as she looked through the albums, more to offer answers to any questions she might have rather than look over her shoulder. But she was taking kind of a while and he wasn't trying to pressure her too much, so he glanced at a few of the other customers as she decided. Didn't look like they needed any assistance right just then, so he turned back to Eden again when she made up her mind about one of the Wiggenweld albums. "Good choice," he nodded. "A solo album? There have been rumors circulating... I wouldn't be surprised if they were true." Sounded like something he would do, and the source that he heard that from was pretty reliable. And it was probably pretty close on the horizon if customers were asking him the same.

Smiling, she turned towards him completely, giving him all her attention. "You mean firewhiskey isn't a pass to do that? Hm. I'll have to inform most of the wizarding world."

Having set the other album down, Tess took the one being offered with both hands and considered it. "Thanks, I think I will." As for what she did, the brunette smirked. "I'm a journalist."

A special deal? Eden smiled reaaaaaal big at that. "I'd love that! And really? Cool, I'd love a vinyl of that, too," Eden nodded. So..three vinyls, then? Cool. Eden could slowly gain a small collection and feel COOL AS HECK and she was sure Phe would like it, too.

"Yeah...I'd be very interested to see if it's any good." She said with a shrug about the solo album. She looked around the store, spotting a few more people trickling in. That was cool, though. Eden wanted this place to do well and stay open because man, it was so rad! "So uh...when you close up?" she asked....curiously. Very curiously.

Ahem.

Cue smiling and tucking some of her hair behind her ear.

Cue smiling and tucking some of her hair behind her ear. Atticus smiled back. He was quite enjoying this making his customers happy thing, especially the rather attractive ones. "Sounds perfect," he said with a slight bow of his head and he set aside the Wiggenweld album that she had selected, then reached for the Silver Streeler album from the shelf as well. "Did you decide on which Cast Iron Magick album you'd like also?" Of course, if she still needed some time to peruse, that was fine too. He was just curious so he could put back the ones she didn't want. No rush.

"Yeah, me too," he nodded, his thoughts not completely on the solo album. "I suppose time will tell anyway." It was still rumor as far as he was concerned, even if they might eventually come to fruition. Atticus smiled again as she did. "Well, I close up shop at 10.. if you're around then, I wouldn't mind buying you a drink." If she was interested, of course. Leaky Cauldron was close by. Though he frequented other places as well.

Mo loved the smell of dusty old vinyl and desperation! Like... he felt that some people made their way into shops like this in hopes of spotting a celebrity or some such. Hilar.

The former Ravenclaw pulled a hand through his hair as he ducked into the record store to escape the chill. GAWD. He missed Santorini. So much. But life had a way of kicking him in the... teeth sometimes. Could be worse, though. He could be in this country permanently, yeah.

Swearing softly in Greek, the man blew on his hands to try and regain feeling, and cast a glance about.

Jory was not very much into music but that didn't mean he missed listening to certain bands and singers from the Muggle world. Coupled with the fact there was a new music store opened, he did not want to miss the opportunity to check it out. Deciding that he would also surprise his wife with some romantic music, he stepped into the shop.

The Auror didn't know where to begin. The shop was so full of musical things! He began browsing but upon hearing the soft mutterings of foreign language by the man close to him, Jory looked up. "Something the matter?'' he asked curiously. By the tone of the man's voice, he suspected something was up.

After having seen to it that Ringo was okay to talk Lilah and sort her out (and by that, he meant ditching them as soon as they'd reached the Leaky by Floo powder), Corbin paused only to fix his hair - the ash from fireplaces was not a good look - before heading directly for Atticus'. If there was a better shop in the Alley, then Corbin had yet to find it.

He also liked the fact that everything seemed to be in a different place each time: it meant he was always finding gems. Thumbing through a stack of Muggle Rock, he wondered what new favourite he would come across today.

How did he get famous?

Being almost 15 was a blessing in disguise for this Ravenclaw. He had been able to shed his younger sister with the reason that he needed to speak to some shopkeepers for a school project, and his mother had already given up on her hating him to let him do it. So..Brinlee-free and mother-free, Rooney Bronwyn was finally able to stretch his fingers through the selection of music here and even listen to a little bit in an attempt to destress after the gut-kicking three months he'd have.

Plus, he needed some new inspiration for any spontaneous pieces he would have to perform at WADA this summer, something he was ridiculously excited for and couldn't bear to still be weeks away from.

He just had to make up properly with Liv first. Be best friends again.

And then keep Minnie on his side, or just call things quits with her.

Making effort with so many girls was hard.

Life wasn't supposed to be hard at 15.

Colt was doing his thing wandering around Diagon Alley hoping to find some new stores. As he wandered he came across a jewel piece. He saw a music shop. His eyes went big and he was grinning like a kid in a candy shop. Now this was awesome. He walked right in without no hesitation. He opened the doors and smelled the vintage vinyls. The best smell in the world. This brought the slytherin back memories of being in New York city and going to old record shops.

He began to make his way through the aisles. He was skimming the records to see what artists this place had. Hopefully they had good ones.

Just getting to go wander around Diagon Alley by herself had made Elle (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=205980565) feel like she was free. She might have been instructed to let Avalon know when she was ready to come home, but neither of her sisters had felt the need to accompany her. Aside from a list in her bag from Ash regarding things she wanted, the sixteen-year-old could do whatever she liked. She had been tempted to let her friends know she was going to be there, but instead she’d walked over without doing so. In some ways she had forgotten, but in others she was curious to find out what could happen if her dorm mates weren’t around.

Except they hadn’t been completely out of her thoughts, as she had found herself investigating the music shop that had recently appeared in the Alley. She didn’t play herself, but she knew both Kelly and Nat did. Plus, Ash liked to think she was a musician, which gave Elle the idea that maybe she could find a gift or two. Therefore, she set out to simply wander the aisles, looking at everything and nothing while waiting to see if anything would jump out at her and give her an idea. Except instead, she found herself accidentally bumping into a boy perusing the records. “Oh, I’m sorry,” she said softly, stepping backward and finding herself running into the display. Thankfully nothing fell.

As the slytherin was busy finding some decent albums to listen to, he felt a light bump on his side. He looked to his right and saw a cute girl bumped into him. He used his flirtatious smile and waved off her apology. "Oh it's fine. I'm usually distracted by this store to even pay attention to where I'm walking." He looked her up and down and wondered if he had seen her around. He didn't want to ask because then that sounded stalkerish. "What kind of music are you looking for?" He was curious what music people listen to.

Still half turned to make sure she hadn’t knocked the display over, Elle had been a bit thrown off by the boy brushing off her apology. Especially as she turned back to look at him gain and realized he was sort of familiar. Maybe a house mate or something, but as she tried to come up with the answer it became clear she was woefully unaware of most of the other students at Hogwarts. It could be fixed now, though. Maybe. “You weren’t walking?,” she pointed out, her voice still a bit unsure. Especially as she’d felt him looking her up and down. She’d glanced down, only to see her hedgehog poke his nose out of her bag just the tiniest bit. It calmed her down, anyway.

“Honestly? I don’t know. I wasn’t really looking for anything in particular. Just a few gifts, maybe,” she replied. She pretty much listened to all music. She had never really thought about specific types of music that she liked. Plus, she doubted that Kelly and Nat’s band had any records here yet.

Colt nodded and shrugged in agreement. "True I wasn't walking, I was just buy admiring all these albums." he said still scrolling through them. Man they had everything he liked. He was surprised they had muggle vinyls here too. As he took in her details, he saw a little hedgehog poke its head out. That didn't go unnoticed. He smiled and pointed towards it, "Nice hedgehog ya got there. What its name?" It cute sort of thing. A few gifts? He offered his assistance. "Well I could offer my assistance. Part of Elle had honestly expected him to disagree with her, just out of a matter of fact. It would have been the Slytherin thing to do, not accepting that you were wrong. Of course, she hadn’t been saying he was wrong in the first place, but she knew by now that there were people who might have thought she was. Obviously he wasn’t one of them, and she filed that away for later. First she had to remember exactly why he seemed familiar. She had nodded in response to his comment, anyway. “There certainly are an awful lot of albums here,” she agreed, glancing over at the displays n ow that she was sure she wasn’t about to accidentally knock anything over.

She hadn’t thought that Marvin was that noticeable, but then he had been paying a lot of attention to her appearance in general. “Oh, his name is Marvin. Like from A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy?,” she replied, tempted to reach inside her bag and take the hedgehog out. The only thing stopping her was the fact she didn’t know what the shopkeepers might think of an animal in the shop. Her hedgehog was hardly as depressed as the character from the book, though.

“Um, well, it’s sort of more than one person? My sister likes a lot of music, more of the popular stuff than anything else though, and then the others you probably know. Kelly and Nat? They have their own band?” She was almost certain he was a Slytherin like she was, so he ought to know her dorm mates. At least he ought to know about the band.

More than one person, well he didn't expect that. "More popular stuff eh? Like what like billboard top 100's or something?" He knew that reference from his aunt liking all the top chart stuff. Kelly and Nat? Those names sounded familiar and he recalled hearing them in his own house. "Oh yeah yeah I heard about that. I haven't had the chance to listen to their music though.." He wasn't much of a social butterfly and made his mission to get to know ALL his dorm mates.

Now that he was connecting the dots, he questioned, "So wait you are a Slytherin too? How come I haven't seen ya around?"

At least she wasn’t feeling quite as much like she was being sized up for something. That had definitely not been her plan when she’d chosen to come to Diagon Alley, or when she’d decided to investigate the music shop. His admittance to not understanding her reference hadn’t bothered her either. That was the usual response, really. “That’s okay. Not many people here have,” she replied with a slight nod. Odds were he knew things that she wasn’t aware of either. That was another things she was used to, feeling sheltered.

She had blinked when he had spoken again. “Huh? No, like Wizarding rock and that sort of thing. What’s billboard top 100’s?,” she asked, completely confused and feeling awkward. Yet again. At least she hadn’t backed into the display a second time. Plus, he in fact did seem to recognize the names of her dorm mates. “You didn’t go to the show they had in the Rom of Requirement last term?,” she asked softly. She’d felt like everyone had been there. “They play a lot of covers still, but they’re working on original songs now too.” Spending months in the same room as them did provide her with a sort of inside information in the end. And he also seemed to realize what she hadn’t said.

“I don’t really get out much,” she replied, feeling a blush creeping up onto her face.

"Is it like a muggle thing?" he asked about her reference. Maybe that is why people don't get it too much or maybe he had to get out more. Probably that. Wizard Rock? He never really dived into that genre yet. He was more into the muggle music listening when he got home. "Never really got into the Wizard Rock aspect. I am more a stickler for my genre back at home." He mostly liked hip/hop-rap, classic rock and sometimes pop. Only sometimes because his sister kept blasting that crap in her room. Ya know some of it is catchy. She didn't know what billboard top 100's is? He forgot some people came here from just the wizarding world. He would explain. "Well it is kind of like a top list of the songs being played in a certain year. There could be popular pop or rock songs that constantly keep playing.." He hoped was making some sense. He wasn't much for explaining too much.

So this band she was talking about had a show in the Room of Requirement? He didn't not get the memo. "Nahh I didn't. I think I saw it on the bulletin board in the common room but never got around to it. I think my friends were doing something else that night." By something else he meant doing graffiti in the courtyard. "What kind of covers do they do?" he was curious now. Maybe they did cover of muggle songs. "Trust me I don't get out that much either. We got that in common.." he muttered and still scanned for the right CD to buy.

”The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy?,” Elle asked, a bit confused by the question about something being a Muggle thing. “It’s a book. Well, the first in a series, sort of, but I guess it’s a Muggle thing.” She’d never seen it as that, but she could see why some people did. If it was, it might be the only Muggle thing she really knew about. Just as she found herself surprised that he hadn’t seemed to know about Wizarding rock. Okay.” Maybe they ought to have that for Wizarding music too. She didn’t think they had that, but she wasn’t sure.

His answer to her question about the Sirens concert was interesting, too. “You think they were doing something else?,” she asked, curious once again. If he’d seen the notice, and he at least knew of the girls in the band, she couldn’t see why he wouldn’t have gone. Obviously he appreciated girls, if she’d read his earlier scan of her own appearance correctly. She’d shrugged as he asked about their music, though. “I’m not sure. There’s some Wizarding stuff. The Dead Kneazles, anyway.” There had been that big thing when the actual band members had shown up at the show after all. But she supposed some of the songs might have been Muggle songs as well. She didn’t know for sure. “Do we?” That seemed surprising.

"Well if it is a muggle thing, I was never much of an explorer when it came to reading. I only read comics and video games.." He knew it wasn't that impressive but it was true. "Yeah my music genre back home when I was in New York City was mostly hip/hop-rap and pop. I guess there could be others but that is what I heard the most." He was curious and asked, "Have you heard about those genres before?" If not he could explain it better. He smirked and she was a smart one to pick up on that. "Well you caught me. I didn't really care to check it out." Now THAT should have been obvious. The Dead Kneazles did sound familiar though. "You know Dead Kneazles do sound familiar...I might have heard one of their songs around the castle.." he said slightly recalling.

She seemed shock they both had something in common. "Yeah we do. I mean I don't really see it as a bad thing." he shrugged. He found his album he had been looking for. "Aww sweet they have Blink 182 here.." he grinned with joy. "Do the people your finding gifts for like this band?" he pointed to the vinyl.

A brief nod was given to the kid who joined him at the music table, but Corbin still flicked carefully though the records. For a boy who had absolutely worry about damaging anything in the world (including hurting peoples feelings), the way he was when it came to music was always a shocker.

Music was the most precious form of art, though.

Noticing an old Catfish single, the thirteen year old began to hum it slightly, before stopping, and looking up at the other boy. "What was that?"

He'd said something.

Maybe Corb had misheard.

He was curious and asked, "Have you heard about those genres before?" If not he could explain it better.

His confession, at first, didn’t surprise Elle one bit, if just because she figured that a lot of Slytherins might see reading, especially Muggle literature, as useless. As a Ravenclaw thing, even. Except she did find one part of it curious. “You read video games?,” she asked, completely mystified as to how that might be possible. She was a fan of futuristic genres, sort of, yet she didn’t think it was possible to read a game. “Others that you listened to, or just other genres in general?,” she continued, back to the topic of music. Which was much more normal given their location. “Have I heard of hip hop, rap or pop?” She thought for a moment. “I guess so, but I don’t know anyone who performs them?” She was out of sorts again, and his smirk only made the feeling worse. That just seemed rude. “You didn’t care to support your housemates…,” she trailed off, rather surprised by that. If anything, she thought they supported each other. “You might have.” Now this was just getting weird.

Especially given that he’d already said they had something in common, but it seemed like only that one little thing. “I never said it was a bad thing.” Although it seemed like, even though she was much shyer than her dorm mates, it seemed like she still knew more about Hogwarts than he did. “Who?” Back to Muggle bands, she guessed. Oh well. “I have no idea.” She was starting to think she should just abandon her gift idea. Either that or just finding it here.

Colt chuckled and rolled his eyes playfully. "Well yeah I do. I mean how else can I know the storyline and figure out what to do?" Makes sense right? Why is this girl surprised. "Hmm I do try to dive into other genre's but I am kind of picky. I try to listen to Rhythm and Blues and Oldies but I am like ehh.." he shrugged like it was no big deal. She doesn't know who performs hiphop-rap? He thought he might give her a crash course. "Well some popular artists are Eminem, Tupac, Jay-Z, D12, Flo Rida..?" He hoped she knew at least one. Now when she said it like that, it didn't sound kind of heartless. He wasn't going to admit it though. He just stood there and moved onto the next topic.

This girl seemed a bit annoyed by him. He was getting the feeling she wasn't up to the gift idea for music anyways. He shrugged and suggested, "Do you want to go to another store then?"

Now that he had found this gem, Levi continued to look through the albums one-handed as he held the one that he found in his other hand. He was hoping to find more by the artist, in fact he was really hopeful, but deep down he figured it was unlikely.

The twelve year old looked up as he heard a voice. Oh, was the boy talking to him? "Misplaced Rage," he grinned as he held up the album. "I was just excited to find them... you know them?" It'd be really cool if he found another fan, but he wasn't sure many would know the muggle indie band.

"Anyway, I was just looking to see if there were any more by them." No such luck so far though.

The chuckle and the eye roll hardly went without Elle’s notice, yet she hadn’t quite figured out if he was laughing at her incredulity or if it was just innocent. That was the difficult part about talking to her housemates. It was sometimes hard to determine their sincerity. “But that isn’t really reading the game, is it?” She figured that was more reading whatever was written about the game. She was at least familiar enough with that to know that much. Most of her life before Hogwarts had been taken up by things she could do by herself at home, after all, or at least it had been that way ever since the loss of her parents. She’d only recently managed to convince her oldest sister that she wouldn’t get in trouble going out alone. And the way he kept talking about music only made her feel that much more sheltered. “Well trying to branch out is always a nice thing to do,” she said, hating how awkward she sounded. It didn’t help when the only thing she could do as he’d suddenly listed off what she assumed were rap artists was blink.

The thing she was most irritated by was the idea that he had a rude part of himself. Since the whole conversation had started off so nicely with him offering to help her. That seemed at odds with his statement that he hadn’t cared about going to the concert to support their housemates and she was still trying to understand that. Plus, there was the frustration at realizing that she really didn’t know what anyone would like, especially since she hadn’t needed to buy gifts. Ash’s birthday wasn’t for a while yet and she’d just felt like Nat and Kelly might like gifts. “I don’t know. It was just an idea anyway.” Maybe it would be better to just stick to the list.

So...he had never been in this shop before. Usually when he was down this area of the Alley, Derf's attention had been drawn towards Quality Quidditch Supplies and that was all they wrote. While the lure of flipping through more magazines and rereading all the interviews of a certain Alice Odessa Fischer he could find, the 11-year-old was feeling more like indulging his growing curiosity about this particular shop and thus had slipped inside.

Woah.

Okay...what WERE half of these things?

Picking up one of the record jackets, Derf pried it open with his fingers and peeked inside at the...er...large flat black donut-y thing. He TOTALLY knew about muggle things...just needed to, er, remember what exactly this was.

Summer was always the best time. Natalia couldn't be having a better summer. Her internship was going great and she had gotten so many opportunities with it, but she still liked being at the shop and she enjoyed being around Atticus. Hello did people see the man and how hot he was? Plus he knew so much about music and was really cool to work for.

She had walked into the shop and started to look around. It was her day off, but of course Natalia was drawn to the music and to the shop. Her eyes moved towards the bands. She knew all the musicians by heart and knew the order they were all in. Finding some that weren't put back correctly automatically Nat was rearranging the items.

So maybe she was a bit obsessive of things being in place, it wasn't a bad thing now was it.

His favourite shop in Diagon Alley was obviously the first one he hit up when his parents sent him to go and get new robes. He was sure that someone Ringo could figure out how to do a spell that would alter his uniform and make it suitable for his new height: it wasn't like he'd grown that much, not like he'd ever rival the height of his parents, and if he was going to buy new clothes, then they'd be proper clothes. He already had his eye on a new pair of boots, and figured that George would give him enough money for roadie-ing to get them before summer was out, at least.

He meandered over to the rows of vinyl records, flicking methodically through the LP's and casting glances over at the recording studio every so often. What he'd kill to get in there one day, but as much as he'd love a band, it was pretty certain that no one would put up with him it was damn hard to find the talent. Ugh.

Did they have any Radiohead? He was feeling that lately.

What a great summer this was. Yes it was!

Cornelius Orion Baltazar was a FREE man. Last summer he'd been grounded for speaking his mind -- when parents say to speak what's on your mind and then ground you -- and had spent most of his days locked up at the Baltazar estate. This summer though, it was different.

Was F R E E .

So here he was. At the music shop. Which wasn't a strange thing. When the boy wasn't out on the pitch he was following beats. On this specific summer day, the curly-head bopped his head into the shop, fingers tapping a beat on his thighs. Deeper into the shop he went, Cornelius spotted a familiar curly head bro.

Corbin Stemp. The dude who'd helped him drop water balloons on girls with white shirts. On accident, of course. One of the two was trying to catch them and 'unfortunately' dropped them. Woopsie!

"Hey, Corb. 'Sup?" Cool bro nod. Long time no see.

A Moon Shaped Pool. That couldn't be all they had, right? It was definitely not what he wanted right now, so Corb dropped it back amongst the other records and moved on to the item albums, sorting through the boxes methodically. Probably the only shop he'd be careful in, in all honesty - music was precious, after all.

He fumbled with a red one, bringing the box up to his eyes to inspect it closer, when he heard a voice behind him. Taking a moment to replace the box carefully, eventually the fourteen year old turned around. "Oh, hey, Cornelius." With a nod of his own, Corbin returned his gaze to the table, the corners of his mouth turning up into a smirk that could only have come from memories.

"Not grounded this summer?"

So maybe she was a bit obsessive of things being in place, it wasn't a bad thing now was it. To be honest, Atticus had his reservations about hiring Natalia this summer. It wasn't that she had done a bad job last year, in fact the opposite was true. And she was awfully nice eye candy. But he knew how busy summer would be in Diagon Alley and having her here on the weekends probably wasn't enough. He wasn't so sure he wanted to hire two people though and she didn't need any training, so he decided the weekend would work out. Maybe he just liked her that much. He did have a few applications on file if anything urgent came up though.

Today saw steady business though and as he was the only one working today, Atticus made his rounds through the store to offer any assistance as needed and make sure no one was attempting to shoplift. He did have charms in place for that, but there was at least one kid every summer who tried to be cute. He smirked as he noticed Natalia in the store arranging some of the merchandise and he headed over. "Just can't stay away, can you?"

She smirked hearing his words before looking up. She was going to put the last away before looking at him. "Face it you know you couldn't function without me." Her brown eyes finally lifting as she smiled at him. "I had stopped by the candy shop after I got done at the record label and thought I'd just pop in for that new Dead Kneazle shirt I've had my eye on all week." Glancing over at it she wasn't going to be leaving without it.

She half wondered if he had noticed her leave with a guy the other night after her shift, but she wasn't going to say nor was she going to explain if he did. "Looks like you could use some help. Want me to stay until closing?" She could send a message to Cal so he knew that she picked up a few hours. They didn't really do much but hangout at her house anyway, so he could do that until she got back.

James walked into the shop, thinking he could just chill out here than anywhere else in the area. Honestly, he couldn't afford most of the things in his Hogwarts list. He left his small London apartment home with the amount of money he saved a few months back. With only 8 galleons in his pockets, he knew they weren't enough to buy the books listed for his fifth-year studies. Second-hand books were his only option. Glancing at his list again, he crossed out new school robes because no way was he able to afford them. Whatever...he could make do with his old school uniforms or hand-me-downs they got from the salvation army across town, his mom could bleach them or something to make them brand new again. So here he was, wondering if he could find any good music. The Dead Kneazles? Clearly, he had no idea who were all these British wizarding bands and why they looked all funny...and hairy. Urgh. His grandmother dressed better than them. Come on...now, where were all the current music at?

Music was life. It literally kept Anthony's head 'above water' some days. Not that he would admit that. So the music shop was a must go to. His bookbag was firmly put on his back. He was a foster kid so didn't have much and sometimes... took... what he wanted. Survival. His eyes looked around the music shop and came to rest on a person in there.

Hmm.

Maybe he would be able to use him as a distraction of sorts if he found something he wanted. Heading over to, Anthony looked over at what he was looking at. "TDK? Eh. I've heard better music." He told the guy before offering him a crooked grin. First two was to make an acquaintance.

Brian was really here to look for a few scores, and maybe try his hand (or hands, or hand and bow arm) at some magical music. Or the fusion type. Because he was honestly getting a little bored with his repertoire. So he was extremely purposeful, striding into the store - until he saw someone holding what looked to be a record disk.

A real life record disk.

Honestly, what was life? This stuff had to be at LEAST a century old, and nobody even had a thing that played those - a grammyphone? - anymore. His ma still laughed at her parents for their affection for compact disks, and those were still far more advanced than the thing the kid was holding. So uh. Don't mind him so much, he was just going to stare quizzically at the boy holding the thing. Yeah. No big deal or anything.

"Too early to sing victory," Cornelius smirked, green eyes browsing the table. In other words, he wasn't making any promises to behave. It just wasn't in his nature to keep still and be the good boy. That was far too boring. He tried it once. For four seconds.

"How's it so far for you?" And was there anything fun he could get his hands on?

No...really...what WAS this thing?

Since simply peeking into the envelope wasn't providing him with any real answers, the only natural thing was to take the flat stiff black donut - or was it doughnut...because they were so delicious they deserved every letter they could get? - out and give it a proper look over.

Wiping his hand on his trousers first, Derf reached in and pulled the thing out. Yeah...still not making much sense but there was a tiny little hole here that he could look through....and see an older boy staring at him.

"You know what fis is-s?" he asked, one eye still pressed to the tiny little hole. "Or how muggles hid mus-s-sic in it?"

Olivia had been shocked when she had found out that there was a music shop in Diagon Alley. Simon had never mentioned this place was here. With widened eyes, she headed into the shop, desperately looking for a label that she knew. She was more familiar with muggle brands; however, she did enjoy listening to Melanie Sung and TDK (The Dead Kneazles). It was all dependent on her mood.

She eyed the music tables, filled with so many records. THERE WAS SO MUCH HERE!! Maybe there was a new band that she could discover. However, she first HAD to check if TDK had a new album out. If they did, then that would be an excellent early birthday present for herself. Humming to herself, Olivia ran her fingers through the albums, trying to find one a TDK album. It had to be there. It just had to be.

James shook his head. "Nope. Well they're not popular in the states that's for sure." To be brutally honest, he couldn't care less about the band history but since he was somewhat nice enough to explain it to him, he spared the guy his attention. He nodded when he finished. "I see. Seems like everyone I bumped into here are from Hogwarts." An amused smirk played across his single pierced lips. "Are you one too?"he asked. James didn't need to wait long before the boy introduced himself next. He nodded in greeting back. "James." Yup, he was one of those types who preferred short introductions so less talking involved about himself.

"Genre? Anything really. I don't have a particular type I stick to for long, but I do listen to club remixes a lot, though. What about you?" James asked the boy named Anthony.

The states. Anthony had recognized that his accent wasn't one from here. But he couldn't pinpoint where his accent was from, from the states. Not that he was trying really hard either. He could care less to be honest.

Anthony also, wouldn't consider himself a Hogwartian. It wasn't the worst school he went to, but he wasn't overjoyed to be going there either. He was more indifferent. As long as he could do what he needed to do, then he was okay. "Ill be going there this year coming up." Anthony offered while pulling out a CD. He slid it behind another CD, being casual. "What about you?" Conversation. He just needed the conversation to continue.

Club remixes. It'd been awhile since Anthony had been out to a club. But with Stephen in town, he was sure to get into something. He needed a good... freeing night. He'd been cooped up too long. "I'm good with anything but oldies, blues, and country." Country made his skin crawl. Ugh.

Just a few days left before she left for California, and Hadley decided she needed some new music for the long flight from London to the west coast of the US. Eleven and a half hours including the layover at JFK the flight over. The flight back had a considerably a longer layover and would be fourteen hours. Fun.

So yeah, music was a must. And Hadley was really into Wizard bands right now. There lied the problem. She wanted to listen to new albums from her favorite bands, but also had to keep it muggle friendly. Not only was she using muggle transportation, her muggle twin sister was bringing a muggle friend along that had no idea magic, and witches and wizards existed.

So basically she was looking for a way to get magical music onto a muggle music device. Easy, right?

Hadley sighed and wandered the tables. A small smile crossed her lips and shook her head. Over X-mas break last term, Hadley had visited this shop with her Mom, and Hadley had to ask her about all the different formats. Even her Mom didn't really know them. They had to look them up online when they got home.

What a wizarding music shop was doing with century old muggle musical formats that predated her grandparents was something she'd never understand, but it was a quirk that always made her smile.

Ugh.

"Cool. I guess we'll be seeing each other a lot next term. I'm originally from llvermorny...but my mom got a job offer here so she thought it be better if I go there. Nearer I suppose." But James was dreading it. Changing schools meant unfamiliar faces and more galleons to be spent on new school robes. The only thing he looked forward to is the free food provided by the school. For another three years, James didn't need to worry about not having enough food in his stomach which was pretty damn great to be honest.

"You don't like any of them?" He chuckled. "I guess you're right, I don't listen to any of that old stuff too. Do you play music?" he asked, interested to know if the guy can play instruments.

Duuude.

There was a music shop here! Brent looked around, almost sure he'd see his brother Kane in here somewhere. He didn't, but that didn't mean the younger Westwood wasn't around. Brent flipped his hair back and entered the shop. Surely there had to be some pretty cool wizarding tunes in here! He could only hope. Quodpot, or Quidditch at the very least, had been the silver linings to him having to move here from America. Now that he'd figured out both were pretty much a no-go, music was really one of the only things left.

Approaching the displays, he began combing the selections for someone he knew. Ohh, cool! He actually knew all most of these. Brent picked up a selection by The Dead Kneazles and started to look it over. Only, he must have picked it up too quickly, because he dropped it, and it landed safely on the floor by some girl. Perfect, Brent. Way to look like a loser in front of somebody who looks your age. "Uhh, sorry about that," he said. "Guess I got a little too excited about there being a music store here."

Anthony's eyes ventured around the shop as he pretended to listen to what was coming out of this boy's mouth. "Oh yeah. Cool." He said before he realized what he actually said. So he was going to be new.... did this mean he might have a new customer? He looked at the boy with more interest.

"Mm. No. The oldies don't cut it for me." He said with a slight smirk. "Are you new in town too?" He asked... wondering if he could show him a few... spots he knew. "I play the harmonica." It was hard to actually play instruments when you didn't have any money to get them... and stealing them nowadays was almost impossible. "If you heard me play, youd be jealous." Yeah, he was owning that.

Aha!

A band that began with the letter S! She was getting closer to TDK. She had to complete her mission the whole world waited on her. Determined to find it, Olivia ignored the students that had passed her until she heard the sound of something hitting the floor. The only moment she looked away was when she heard the soft thump of plastic hitting the floor. She glanced over to the noise to find that a boy around her age had dropped a selection of The Dead Kneazles. Merlin's Beard! Sacrilege! To drop such a phenomenal band on the floor..... How dare he! she thought for a moment and was prepared to give the boy a good talking to. Oh yes, no one dropped.... She turned around and stopped straight in her tracks... Wow. He was kind of cute .....and obviously had good taste in music. AHEM. Olivia glanced away to the album so that she wouldn't stare. But the album.... She'd let him get away with dropping a TDK album on the floor.... just this once.

Besides, it wasn't a big deal and he probably felt horribly embarrassed by the whole situation.

"It's okay," she said with a small smile as she bent down to pick up the album. She checked the album. Yep, no marks on it at all. This guy was lucky. "Looks like there isn't any damage to the album if that helps," she said with a grin and then glanced over her shoulder. Was the shopkeeper paying them any heed? Hmm.. She couldn't see him. "And the shopkeeper isn't nearby or he doesn't seem to be at the moment. So I think you're alright." Olivia gave the other boy a grin and nodded in agreement with his previous statement with this store being so exciting. "This place is exciting. I didn't know there was a music shop here in Diagon Alley. I just had to come check it out and take a break from school shopping for Hogwarts." It was good to take a break from all that shopping and listening to music whilst she wrote was one of her favourite hobbies. Olivia glanced down at the selection that she had picked up and realized it was still in her hands. "Oh." Whoops. She held out to him. "This is yours. Nice choice by the way. TDK is one of my favourite Wizarding bands."

"Or how muggles hid mus-s-sic in it?"

.... oh crap.

Had he been staring too hard? For too long, too, perhaps? Yeah, that was probably it, but he was busy being confused at the younger boy's confusion and there hardly seemed any time for artificial niceties when he was as bamboozled as a deer in a suburb. What was the child trying to do?

Oh, wait. Was the kid asking him? HIM, BRIAN WOODS, HIM?

Well. He asked for it. "It's a grammerphone - I think it was a grammerphone. Or was it gramophone?- record disk," he said, nodding at the thing in his new companion's hand. "Extremely old muggle technology. Decades before the stuff my grandparents grew up on, compact disks. Compact disks were basically this, only smaller - compact, y'see? - and playable on a slightly less bulky machine. The thing this disk does, though, is that it's put on a gramophone which kinda looks like the lovechild of a tuba and a table and they put a needle down on the surface."

Had he lost him? Yeah, maybe. "So what happens is the disk starts spinning and the different ridges you see on the top cause the metal of the tuba part of the gramophone to vibrate at different frequencies. So vibrations result in these mechanical waves that travel through the air - sound waves - which is basically what you hear in the end." Nod nod. "But nobody's used them in over a hundred years. It's extremely outdated tech. Now we've got digital versions which record sound much much more accurately."

......... too much information, maybe? "Lots of people keep them as collector's items, though." Please tell him the boy hadn't zoned out and gone to sleep. Brian just liked his ancient tech.

Atticus chuckled as he leaned against the display table. "There might be some truth to that." He could admit that Nat did a great job while she was here and he did kind of wish that she wanted to work more than weekends. But he could understand why not and he'd probably do the same had he that opportunity at her age. "Well, don't let me stop you. I'm sure you could find a few other things you can't live without while you're here. We just got a new shipment in yesterday." And she was also as good as any other paying customer.

He didn't pay much attention to her personal life, or what she did while she was off, mostly because it didn't concern him. Things like that never did as he was a go with the flow kind of guy. But if she wanted to hang around, he certainly wouldn't stop her. She could stay as long as she liked. "I knew you couldn't get enough of me," he smirked, joking. "Sure, that'd be great if you could stay a while."

She still had to apply and get in, but maybe she could work here part time while she did that? Though she was hoping she might end up with some record deal possibly with this internship.

"A new shipment you say? Maybe I'll have to help sort it and see what we got." He knew her weakness and she didn't at all enjoy it, okay maybe she did. She bought so much from this shop alone when she was home. It was a wonder her entire paycheck didn't just go back to it. Not that he would complain money was money so he should be excite she spent so much of it.

A blush might have crossed her face as he said about her not being able to stay away from him. How did he know? "It pays to have hot artist pictures up where you work all the time." He was an artist and his picture probably was around here some where so not a full lie. Plus Nigel Barrington was a poster she purposefully put above the counter the other day. "No problem I can stay." She'd have to put her purse down and glancing around there were two boys that she didn't feel could be trusted at the moment. Maybe she'd keep her eye on them.

"Oh I'm going to put The Sirens on the recording schedule to. We want to do a bit before the talent show like we did last year." That was coming up quickly.

Brent lifted his gaze to meet the girl's eyes. The album had hit the floor right at her feet, and no way was he going to scoop it up there. It'd just be awkward, especially since they didn't know each other. Instead, he did the whole hair flip thing and then waited for her to make the next move. For a second there, he kind of thought she was going to go mad on him. Girls could be that way sometimes. They'd be perfectly fine one moment then on a rampage about something the next. Perfect. He'd angered some girl in the middle of Diagon Alley on his very first day here.

...and then she surprised him, causing him to pass a smile in her direction. So the album was okay? Cool! That meant he didn't have to waste his money buying an album that would never work. "Yeah?" he casually asked, looking over . "Awesome. The Dead Kneazles are cool, but I don't want to throw away money buying an album that'll never work." He could just hear his dad now, giving him a whole speech about the value of a galleon and how Brent should be more careful with things. He looked over his should and noted that the shopkeeper did indeed seem to be busy, and the girl had taken care of the album, so all was good.

"I didn't know there was a music shop here either," he admitted, "but that's because I just moved here from America. I didn't know that any of the shops were here." Diagon Alley was pretty cool during the summertime. There were loads of kids his age to hang out with! "Hogwarts?" Brent grinned. "I'll be there, too. Incoming fourth year." He shook his head. "I don't think I'll be buying anything today. Just looking, but thanks. It's your's if you want it." As an afterthought, he added, "I'm Brent, by the way."

He had a nice smile. This guy seemed friendly which was good! Olivia liked meeting friendly people. Glancing down at the album momentarily, she listened to his comment and nodded in agreement. Yes, wasting money on album that wouldn't work was never a good thing. She had learned that lesson a while ago when she had been convinced to buy a product at a mall that was supposed to make her hair slightly less frizzy but it was a total rip off. It hadn't done anything. Oh well. She had learned her lesson. Do more research. "That's completely understandable."

Woah, woah, woah. Hold up. He said that he had just moved here from America? "Well welcome to England if no one has said that yet. I'm originally from Australia. It's only sunny occasionally but mostly the stereotypes about rain are true," she said with a chuckle. "Which part of the States are you from? What's it like? Were you at Illvermorny? Oh Merlin. I'm asking you so many questions so quickly. Sorry." She chuckled as her cheeks turned the slighest shade of pink. She just was so intrigued by the United States as she had never been to the States. Despite having watched a lot of American television shows, Olivia wondered what it was like and debated whether or not the shows accurately depicted the country or culture.

She grinned a little more when he said that he was also attending Hogwarts and was going to be an incoming fourth year. "Same here! I'm an incoming fourth year too!" It was nice to meet someone in her year. Perhaps the two of them could be friends? Brent seemed pretty cool. Olivia glanced at album once more. She didn't have that one yet and it could totally complete her collection of TDK. "Then I'll definitely take it. Thanks. I came in here looking for a new TDK album and this is perfect." And this guy had found it and flung it almost at her. Talk about luck. Brent was his name? Brent from the States. She smiled at him. "Nice to meet you, Brent. I'm Olivia."

Phillip (http://www.polyvore.com/spring_into_summer/set?id=213162406)'s first impression of the store?

Wannabe Hipster Central.

Just LOOK at the equipment there! It looked like the perfect place for the kids who were trying to be unique and act as though they secretly belonged in the 1800s when they really didn't. He picked up a compact disk and eyed it, a look of complete and utter confusion on his face. This was worse than having to sit through a double period of Ancient Runes.

Setting the disk down, the fifteen year old wandered over towards another section, right near some girl he hardly even recognised. Aside from a glance over, she wasn't noticed much or taken into consideration as he started flipping through the music there. No need, was there? Every now and then, he'd pick up an album, only to pull an expression and set it back in its place.

Nah, nope, no way, had that, maaaaaaybe, eh, got that, definitely not.....

ON and on it went until.........

........ "Hey, recommend anything good?" To the girl beside him. Hey. Help a guy out, will you?

Hadley hadn't even noticed she wasn't alone anymore until the boy spoke. He looked sorta familiar. Student at Hogwarts? Probably. "Huh? Oh, uh..." Hads tucked her long, red hair behind her ear. "Honestly, you probably know more about wizarding bands than I do." She'd only been introduced to wizarding bands last summer, and then, of course, spent all the time between then and now in Hogwarts.

"Depends on what kind of music you like, I guess?" She gave him an apologetic shrug. "Mostly, I'm trying to figure out how to convert albums from magical format, to something more muggle friendly..." And failing, mostly, by the way. She was gonna be spending the month of August with her Dad in California. Also with her Dad's new muggle girlfriend. And her muggle twin sister's best friend. Neither knew about magic, or wizards and witches, and yeah. She had to keep it that way. And listening to music on a magical device, didn't really do that.

That and her long hair was annoying her today as it kept slipping out from behind her ear and obscuring the view of the albums as she browsed.

"So, what kind of music do you like?"

Time would tell when it came to it, but he would admit that he wouldn't mind having here more than just the weekends. Her presence was also good for business. "I was disappointed you only wanted to work weekends this summer, you know." But he understood why.

"That's right, a new shipment," he grinned easily as Nat mentioned staying to look through it, possibly even sort it for him. He had a feeling she'd react that way, but many got excited about new merchandise. "I'm sure you'll find at least one or two must have items in there."

Atticus couldn't help but to chuckle. Hot artists? Hmm, he supposed there was something to be said about the rock star, and there were quite a few posters and pictures hanging up. "Even better when they're in person though, right?" He laughed more, just teasing her a little. "Great." He didn't think it would be to hard to convince her to stay anyway.

"Okay, I'm sure there are a few open spots." The schedule did tend to fill up quickly, especially in the summer, but he could always find room for her and her band.

He was actually think about keeping her own next summer and more. This would be amazing. Going to WADA and working here with him. Even the thought put a bigger grin on her face. That smile faded a bit when he said he was disappointed that she only wanted weekends. "I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to work at the record label. I was hoping to get a foot in the door for the band." He understood, didn't he? "I've missed it here though." She wasn't lying she really did miss it here.

She was going to have to look through that shipment. Though she wasn't sure there had been any new TDK stuff out recently. Rumors were there was possibly a new album in the works, but she had been hearing that for awhile. "Alright I'll put that on my list of things to do. I can have it all unpacked and shelved in no time." She was sure she could do a good job at it and it wouldn't take that long. Plus she'd be the first to find what's new and what she wanted.

He got her joke didn't he? He saw right through it. She was certainly blushing a bit and started fixing some of the albums again, even though they didn't need fixed. "Yes of course, is there one here in person?" She pretended to look around but then looked at him with a grin. "Awesome just let me know what'a available and we will be there." The band loved recording here.

Katherine had begun doing things she enjoyed slowly, but firmly since... everything, and so she had decided to come here on her free time on the Alley. She was usually only allowed two days in the whole summer to come here, and this was (thankfully) her first day. So she stepped inside and looked around. She wanted to listen to piano things, and soon enough, she located the muggle side. She walked there and started browsing. She had no idea who to listen to apart from the classics, but she wasn't in a hurry anyway...

She'd passed this place so many times but never gone in and today seemed as good a day as any to check out the music store. Maybe Junia could find something for a dance party. She hadn't had one yet with her family this summer, which was completely unacceptable. Yes, she needed something upbeat with a good rhythm. She did. Oh! She could also see if there was anything from TDK in here that she could get. Then she could send it to West to be autographed. He wouldn't mind at all.

The place was more crowded than she'd anticipated and the fourteen year old was thankful that she was small, as she found herself needing to squeeze through small spaces in order to get around those larger than her. Plus she couldn't quite tell if there was any rhyme or reason to the way the music was organized, so she was kind of lost. So lost that she didn't see her fellow Hogwartian until she was shoulder-to-shoulder with her. ...Katherine. Yeah. That was kind of awkward what with the way the other girl used to look at Sam. What would Kitty do in a situation like this, she wondered? Hm...

"Hey." It had been decided that Kitty would keep her friends close and her enemies closer and while Junia hadn't decided if Katherine was an enemy just yet, it was best to play it on the safe side of things. She smiled big and regarded the girl curiously.

Katherine didn't KNOW what to do, which one to buy, how to play, if she could even play a sample here - in essence, she had no idea about music and this shop, which made her extremely anxious. It was a disaster for a Ravenclaw to just not know. Someone was already beside her, judging her, she knew. She lifted her head to look at the person and maybe ask - Junia... this was Junia, wasn't it? The girl Samuel was dating. Katherine wondered if the girl knew or guessed.

"Hi." She smiled back, although not as big. She still lacked in that, and she bet this was a contributing factor to Samuel's decision - even though Genny had insisted that Katherine had just been late. She wondered how long Junia knew him and how many special moments they had had. But - none of this mattered. She was over Samuel. She hadn't even seen him that much since Genny told her he was dating someone else. She was over, yeah.

Except, one wondered... and thus, Katherine regarded Junia curiously back.

Junia wondered if she was supposed to keep staring until Katherine looked away. Would that make her the winner? Was there even a winner when stuff like this happened? Was this even a thing? Maybe it wasn't. Maybe she didn't have to feel weird at all. ...Maybe.

Growing up was SO weird.

"So are you looking for anything specific? I can't really figure out how the music is organized." Shifting from one foot to the other, the brunette tried at conversation. It was decidedly better than having a staring contest and not blinking was going to make her eyes watery, you know? And she'd just managed to figure out mascara, so that wouldn't be good.

Io (http://i.imgur.com/9v7SP7g.jpg) traipsed around the music shop like she owned the place. She had a silver slick flash tucked into the band of her nylons and every once in a while she would pause in flicking through vinyls to slip a hand into the band and pull out the flask for a long draught of fruit punch flavored rum. It warmed her bones, kept her loose and helped keep the boredom retirement from the academy had brought into her life.

stupid academy. stupid barton. he'd ruined all her plans by falling grossly in love with that ballerina bore and her sloppy little snot kids.

all that potential wasted and now hers too, right down the drain. She took another swig, wiping her mouth on the sleeve of her leather jacket. the drink was sweet, but the taste in her more was as bitter as poorly made black coffee. english coffee, as a matter of fact. they had no idea what they were doing. a fact the bulgarian-born witch would never forgive, along with all their passive aggressive 'polite' talk.

she took another sip, the liquor warming her blood. she kept the flask in hand as she casually went back to glicking through records in search of something, in particular, for a rainy day.

Okay. So this WAS Olivia's favourite shop in all of Diagon Alley. It was usually quiet and a nice escape from the noisy streets filled with families, younger students, and potential students coming to Hogwarts. It got very noisy out there and difficult to navigate around the crowds of people. In fact, the crowd navigating reminded her of when the Illvermornians arrived at Hogwarts and a good chunk of them all came to the Gryffindor table. Lots and lots of people in a small space was overwhelming to the Lioness...

So Atticus's Attic First and Secondhand Music Shop was a safe haven away from all the chaos.

Now let's see what new music they have here?

The not excitement of the beginning of the summer with her runaway brother was still raw in Noelle's mind. She couldn't help but feel responsible for things due to situations. Try as she might though, she needed to get that out of her head and grab some school supplies before her internship started so she would have that done just in case she didn't have time later.

She'd sent Olivia an owl asking if she wanted to join her for today. They'd agreed to meet at the music shop. Noelle headed in with her bag and looked around for the spunky brunette. Spying her near the music records, Noelle went up beside her.

In her best Ace impression, she said. "Fancy meeting you here." Heh.

As she was pursuing the music selection offered here, Olivia kept on glancing over at the door every so often just in case Noelle would walk through the door. She was worried about her friend. The news of a twelve year old running away from home was terrifying. She couldn't believe how Noelle or her family must have been feeling. Then Vi heard Noelle's voice but it sounded much deeper than usual. Huh? Was she trying to impersonate...? Olivia picked up the album that she had been half-reading and turned around....

Oh hey! It was Noelle. And what was with that posture and.... She turned beet red when she realized just who Noelle was impersonating. She broke into a giggle. Of course, she'd impersonate Ace in front of her. Olivia should have expected it. Heh. "Come here often or is just on Saturdays?" she winked trying to place the album back in the box; however, it made a terribly light thud on the ground. Whoops. Not so smooth after all, Holden. She bent down to pick it up, placed it on the table, and then threw her arms around her older friend.

"Hi! How are you feeling? Are you okay?" she asked giving her friend the biggest bear hug EVER. Olivia was here for Noelle. Whatever she needed.

So her Ace impression didn't work.

But Vi got the picture seeing as she turned a shade of pink that looked lovely with her hair. Noelle managed to giggle, especially at the wink and the comment that she made. "I only come here when the time is right." Que eyebrow wiggle with a matching giggle. Okay, so she wasn't the best Ace impressionist.

Then Olivia was hugging her.

Noelle had been holding in a lot. With her parents divorced, the family split, she felt like she had to bring in a strong front to be the strong older sister that her siblings needed. It only resulted in James missing. Not to mention Tim had some issues. Lulu, merlin bless her, was too young to really see what was going on. So when Olivia hugged her, it caught her by surprise and the range of emotions she'd been holding back almost broke through.

Luckily she was able to hold it back.

Noelle hugged her tightly. "I'm okay. For now. How are you? How's summer so far? And thank you so much for those posters." They were currently scattered around DA, neighborhoods, etc. James' smirking, smiling face.

Music.

Merlin knew how much she lived for this, for hearing it, for breathing it…heck, often it was like music was the fuel for her very soul. Music and animals. That likely was all Melbourne needed to survive (it wasn’t). Thumbing her finger along the new albums that had come in recently – or well, were new to a girl that hadn’t been able to come into the shop at all for months upon dreadful months because of school.

Sigh.

The sixteen year old girl placed one of the pairs of headphones (https://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=226790923) over her ears and began to listen…what was this? She hadn’t heard this before.

When the time is right? Woah, woah, woah. What a smooth answer. Noelle Summers had GAME. Well she has always had game. I mean, c'mon! thought Olivia as she smiled proudly at her friend. Merlin. Maybe Noelle could rub some of that game off on Olivia or maybe Mel could help too with that? "Smooth talker," she whistled and then laughed.

As she hugged Noelle, Olivia tried to understand what her friend must be going through. A brother that ran away from home.... Merlin. She couldn't imagine. Though unfortunately Olivia didn't even know about the other heavy weights that her poor friend was carrying on her shoulders. She wouldn't ask her friend directly about James.. It didn't seem appropriate in such a public place even if the music shop was much quieter than the streets of Diagon Alley.

Okay for now was an answer Vi could work with for now. But Noelle had asked about her. Okay... Umm.. Well. She nodded. "I'm good. I've been working at a cafe during the week and volunteering at a museum on weekends. I'm helping out a summer camp there," she smiled. Her brother had introduced her to a lady who had asked Olivia to come help them out with their art camp. It wasn't much work. It was simply making sure these kids were having fun and behaving well. "And just coming here on weekends... Visiting people like your wonderful self and Etta..." Her smile grew slightly more when she said the next comment though, "And seeing Ace too, of course.[/b]"

Noelle had mentioned the posters. So Olivia nodded several times over. "Of course, I'm just glad that the second version of them didn't have a printing error." Merlin knows that she had been MORTIFIED when the first set had come out and everything was just... incorrect. Whoops. "Any luck with people seeing him? My brother's best friend works at the MLE. We could try contacting him too." Ethan would know what to do. Heck. Maybe her brother and Ethan could start looking into cases. They were self-considered consulting detectives after all fashioning a likeness to the great Sherlock Holmes and sharp Dr. Watson.

Noelle was anything but a smooth talker. Just ask Noah. Now HE was a smooth talker. Maybe Noelle had channeled him. She giggled at vi and shook her head. "I missed you!" She said with a small grin before looking around the music shop a moment to compose herself because emotions were threatening to spill over.

"Oohhhh Etta is a sweetie. I like her. And Ace.." Noelle's smile grew when Vi's smile grew wider at the mention of him. 'Soooo? Do you have any news for me?' She asked with a little tilt of her head. She wanted to know all the details. It was a great distraction for her head right now.

"The posters were lovely. Even if they had a mistake on them the first time, his picture was being sent out there. People really only look at the picture anyways." She really wished she could offer up some money as a reward for finding her brother, but being from a divorced family, where her dad was a muggle who owned a farm, that wasn't happening. "Hopefully..... he comes home soon." The MLE was working on tracking him. "I owled out a few people like Frankie and Leon who work in the YATi program. And theres some Diggory's in the auror division." aka, she was tracking down everyone she could to find her little brother.

"Anyways...." She breathed and looked at her. "Tell me this Ace news.'

Anything to distract her head.

"I've missed you too. It's so good to see you," beamed Olivia. It had been way too long since the two had hang out. The last time she had seen Noelle truly had been in the secret passageway when they had a rather unfortunate run in with a Professor's fluffy cat.

Etta was a sweetie. Etta and her had a made a pact to be best friends for a very long time and Olivia was determined to keep that promise. She couldn't imagine not having a friend like Etta or Noelle or Mel. All three of those girls had had a huge impact on her life at Hogwarts. News about Ace...? Well... There was some things to mention but she held out because Noelle was speaking about her brother now.

She blushed. It made her happy that Noelle still loved the posters even with the small mistake. People did mostly look at the photo on the posters. She was glad that she got them fixed though. Phew. Olivia's mind was made up. She was going to talk to Ethan. She made a mental note of that and continued to nod as Noelle listed all the people that she had contacted. Merlin. Tons of people. This was good. Hopefully this would make it easier to find James.

But she knew that her friend needed a distraction so she decided to focus on the question that Noelle had asked. News about Ace. "We're going on dates," she began. They weren't dating exclusively but perhaps we're getting close. Olivia had never done the whole serious dating thing before. It had never lasted this long. She really did care for him which kind of scared her (because she scared A LOT). "We did kiss...." She could feel her face getting warmer when she thought about the kiss and how it all happened. But that was back in April.

"Speaking of cute boys, how's Noah?"

The only decent thing about Diagon Alley aside from getting to know new transfers was this shop. At least, in Corbin's opinion. He thumbed across the records, noticing the ones that hadn't been here last summer, before looking up and scanning the faces of the people surrounding him.

With a grin, he dropped the album in his hands and crept up behind a brunette he was sure he recognised. "Guess who?" He was sure she couldn't hear him over the music from the headphones she was wearing, but he knew she'd definitely notice the hands over her eyes.

Julie stuck out like a colorful sore thumb amidst the darker hues of the shop in her lavender t-shirt, powder pink jean skirt and fresh white kicks, but sticking out was never a displeasure for the 14-year old Slytherin. In fact, it was her preferred form of living. Sticking out, showing off, looking cute and garnering attention was what she knew.

it helped a lot when you were meeting up with friends, as she was today with one Cameron Temesis. The music store had been her idea, but one she thought Cam would appreciate considering how curious (and strangely quiet) the place could be. Flipping through some muggle records, Julie found herself scoffing at ridiculous name after ridiculous name.

Oh that cat.
Noelle was on potions now for her allergies to cats. It was a wonder how she didn't have any run ins with cats before last year. But not to worry, she was prepared for this year.

Noelle couldn't help but grin when Olivia blushed. The girl had been a huge help with those posters. Noelle appreciated it, even if the first had been a slight mistake. The next batch was even better. Plus, as they said, it got James' picture out there. And that's all she asked for. Maybe someone would find them. Because really... how long could 2 twelve year olds get without using magic, and barely any money?

But Vi was doing a good job of distracting her. Ace and her had gone on dates as in plural! AND THEY KISSED?? This was BIG news! "Okay, you have to tell me everything. Where did you two go on your dates? How was the kiss? Is he a good kisser? Have you ever kissed anyone else besides him?" All were important questions.

Then she mentioned Noah.
Vi was perfect.

Noelle blushed and smiled wide at the mention of Noah. "He's the best. I don't know what I'd do without him. He's helping me out a lot lately. Constantly out looking for James. He's got a lot going on this summer yet makes me a priority. " She could go on and on but.. there wasn't enough time in the day.

The venue Julie had chosen was VERY interesting in Cameron's eyes.

While inherently curious he hadn't ventured into this particular shop before today. There was a first to everything, right? And who better to do that with than Julie. Smiling, he entered the shop immediately looking for his friend before he could get too distracted by the records and other items on display.

Fortunately she wasn't very hard to find. "Hey!" Cameron quickly walked over to her and hugged her. Because it has been too long. Yes. Hiiii.

There he was. Cameron Temesis in the flesh. Julie beamed, tucking away the kooks record she'd been looking over to embrace her fellow Slytherin. She didn't hug too tight, lest she squish his skinny frame or bruise him up- not that Cameron seemed weak per se... well, okay, maybe a little fragile. Not weak, just fragile.

"Hey Cam, isn't this place cool?"To be honest, she was a little anxious to hear what he thought of the music shop and if he'd approve. Cam was easy to please-ish, but that didn't stop the worry. She needed him to like Atticus' Attic First & Secondhand Music shop as much as she did, otherwise this would kind of be a flop.

Eyes closed, head bopping to the music…wait. There was pressure on her face – it was…what? The warmth of the hand felt nice. ”hmmmm” Mel just chuckled tried to turn toward the voice. ”oooh whoever you are – you’ve got calloused fingers…” so that just meant they were likely a musician right? Or did something weird…yeah?

”so….do you play an instrument?” she asked as she tried to figure out exactly whose had was covering her eyes.

Tell her everything, hey?

Vi wracked her brains. Where to start? Where to start indeed? She bit her lip. "Hmm... Well.. We went on a Valentine's Date as you know," she began. They would have been going out anyway on a date. It didn't matter what day it was. He was her closest guy friend and meant a lot to her. He just....got her. As for the dates, there were a lot so it was hard to name all of them. But the kissing question surprised her a little. She... errr... Olivia had never kissed someone before except for on the cheek as a form of greeting. "He's my first kiss. And yes, a very good kisser," she whispered softly and blushing. She was looking forward to spending much more time with him.

She smiled, hearing that Noah was helping Noelle greatly with everything. He sounded like a great guy and a really fantastic friend for Noelle. "He sounds wonderful," she said with a nod. "And it sounds like he really cares. What does he have on? He is also in the internship with you?"

Excuse you, he was not weak. He was tall(er) maybe. AND he was still staying fit by exercising regularly. He had to hold a beaters bat after all. That took STRENGTH.

When she pulled back, Cameron took a moment to grin at Julie before letting his eyes wander around the shop again. "It's different." He concluded but it was clear from his tone that he thought it was a good kind of different. "Do you come here a lot?" Taking a small step back he picked up a record at random and turned it over.

Interesting.

Cameron was not what Julie thought of when the terms 'muscles' or 'strength' came to mind. Okay, maybe he wasn't exactly weak and he certainly seemed taller now, but she still saw the boy as a bit of a weakling. She couldn't help it. It was just the impression that had stuck.

For better or worst.

"Definitely different." Julie agreed, glancing around the shop to proper assess his assessment. "I wouldn't say a lot, but enough to be comfy here, y'know?" Julie half turned, stepping to the rack of records and idly fingering the first few just for the feeling of it. "It's quiet, and you find some really wild stuff- and the staff are pretty nice and they know a lot about music. Muggle and wizard. Like a different kind of history." Julie was talking like she'd reached a very serious conclusion.

Her hands were free and it was a very strange feeling. So strange Sophie caught herself holding onto her sholder bag once in a while just because. Whenever she did realise she was doing it, the brunette would let go and try to make the most of the fact she had no children to look after today.

Truth be told, she should be used to that by now, since it wasn't rarely that her own parents looked after her children. Still, there was no getting used to have FREE HANDS, especially since her youngest was only 4 months old.

'Only 4 months old' felt more like 'ALREADY 4 months old', though. Sweet Merlin, where was time going???

Anyway, there she was, with her hands FREE. Might as well explore a shop she had never been to as well, right? Right! Off she was to the music shop to wait for her best friend.

How nice! Sophie felt like she would've liked this place when she was a teenager. Not that she felt that much older than a teenager, but maybe she was. MERLIN, she was!

... Oh well. That wouldn't stop her from smiling at those already in the shop and going straight to where she could see several albums displayed. Not looking for anything in particular, she simply flicked through them, mouthing some of the strangest band names she saw.

As far as uncles went, Caleb Bishop was the bees knees. Cecelia and Sam were lucky enough to have one willing to make babysitting into a date day and give his older sister a bit of a break. Ella appreciated it more than she could say and while she missed her kids like crazy, she needed time with her best friend. Adult time. Time spent talking about things other than play dough unicorns and Mr. Dragon, Sam's newest stuffed animal.

"Soph!" The blonde arrived and navigated her way through the crowded shop, a string of polite excuse mes following her right up to the brunette she'd been excited to see. "I almost didn't recognize you without kids attached to your legs." Tugging the former Hufflepuff into a hug, she gave her a squeeze. Mrs. Mordaunt had been missed, did she know?

Sophie beamed when she heard Ella's voice and turned around in time to crack up about the next comment. "Oh, I know... I don't think I recognise myself without them anymore." She chuckled while hugging the blonde. She definitely needed more of this 'hands-free time' and what better way to spend it than with her longtime best friend?

"I finally found something to do with my hands!" She added in a triumphant tone and chuckling, gesturing with her head towards the beautiful vinyl records she'd been flipping through. "Imagine these hanging on a wall!" The former Hufflepuff held one in each hand, lifting them above her eye level as if she was about to place them on an imaginary wall in front of her.

Yeah, yeah, they played music and all, but Sophie was a lot more visual and those were BEAUTIFUL!

"That's not how I was thinking of using them, but yeah, I can picture it." The blonde smiled, amused. Sophie was forever thinking outside the box and Ella couldn't help but wonder which of her children would've inherited that trait. "I was actually thinking of getting Caleb something since he agreed to watch the kids for me. He brought his girlfriend over and everything." When her baby brother had gotten to the age where he was old enough for a serious girlfriend, she didn't know. He was still six in her mind, a fact he was always complaining about. "He told me he loves her, Soph. How did this happen?" HOW?

The blonde shook her head and moved towards the nearest box of records, leafing through carefully. Maybe she'd get Alec something, too.

Had Sophie been drinking, she would've spat her drink everywhere. Or at least choked. Caleb had a GIRLFRIEND? AND said he loved her, WHAT?

Lowering her hands and the records, Sophie gawked at Ella. "How old is he now??" She had lost track of time, clearly. In her mind, Caleb was still... at least the (very) young teenager she remembered seeing at Ella's house back in the day. Merlin, she remembered when she first met him! A child. Literally, just a kid. How did he have-

It dawned upon her that it would one day be her own children and that freaked. Her. Out.

Quick, think of something else! Sophie pulled up another set of vinyl records.
"Maybe I should get Mordred some Muggle records! Do you reckon he'll-" And she trailed off when she saw what she was holding. Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica. The brunette blinked and looked at her friend. "Um..." Way to go helping her pureblood husband get acquainted with the Muggle world?

Ella gawked right back. They were really very good gawkers. Apparently it was a skill that got better with age. "He's...he's twenty-two now." Merlin's beard, that was old. Which made her feel old. Which made her think of her dad and how old he was. There was some comfort in the fact they'd made it through, the three of them, alive and well. That part made her proud, even if the big sister part of her was grasping at straws on how to deal with her baby brother's ascent into adulthood. At least she's nice. I mean, as far as girls you want your brother dating, she's at the top of the list." Bright side. Yup, she was still looking for those at every turn.

"Hm?" She'd been a bit lost in thought but she quickly snapped out of it when she caught sight of what her best was holding. And laughed. "Wow Soph, he's going to love that." The blonde grinned. "I can see him now, all studious, brow furrowed, rocking out to Captain Beefheart." Best. Image. Ever.

"TWENTY-" Sophie covered her own mouth. "Twenty-two!? Caleb's twenty-two..!" She had to repeat it and it still didn't sound right. "Merlin, Ella, we'll have white hair in no time!" And she could picture them like that, sitting on their rocking chairs and chatting all day long. That would be nice, actually. Maybe growing old wouldn't be too bad after all!

So Caleb's girlfriend was a pretty nice girl. Aw, that was nice to hear. "I'm glad! He's a nice boy... uh, man..?" Wut! Merlin. "...himself; he deserves a nice girl." The brunette smiled. "How's your dad doing, by the way?"

Sophie couldn't help but crack up at Ella comment. "Maybe I should get it and pretend it's a serious gift and see his reaction! Tell him that's actually what Muggles normally listen to." She couldn't help but laugh her head off imagining him trying to look... 'politely pleased' with this awfully strange gift to not hurt his wife's feelings. "I'll probably end up giving it to Mandy, though. This seems like something she'd enjoy."

"Mhm." Cameron hummed in reply, setting the record down again and picking up another. "Can you listen to them too?" He looked back at Julie before letting his eyes wander around the shop again, both in search of perhaps a room to listen to the records AND to see if there was anything else that caught his attention.

How had he never been here before?

White hair?! Ella gave Sophie a horrified look. 1. Her husband's hair obsessed ways might've rubbed off on her over the years and 2. They were still VERY young in the grand scheme of things, so white hair was NOT an issue they needed to worry about...was it?

Merlin.

Taking a deep breath, the blonde toyed with the ends of her hair and focused on what they were talking about. Caleb. Caleb deserved a nice girl. "Yeah he does. I attempted to give her the whole intimidating big sister talk, but it didn't go so well. I'm apparently not that intimidating." Who knew? Ella smiled and shrugged. "My dad is good. He loves being a grandfather. He even put up one of those muggle climbing frames they've got in playgrounds. It's cool." And yes, she'd ensured the ground around the area was softened so her kids wouldn't get hurt. She was a careful mom, okay? "How are your parents?"

"I think you should get it for Mandy, but pull one over on Mordred first. Oh, and can I be there to witness it? That'd make my day." She grinned, bouncing a bit. Teasing, she was.

Sophie laughed at the intimidating-big-sister-talk. She wasn't sure what that would be, being an only child and all, but picturing Ella trying to look intimidating was indeed a very amusing thought, so of course Sophie was chuckling. "I'm sure the girl knows better than to mess with you!" She added, also smiling, although she actually meant that. Only those who had been able to witness could fathom the power of an angry former-badger. Sophie knew it from her own experience.

Woops? Heehee. Anyways.

About the Muggle climbing frames. "He did it himself?? That's impressive!" Sophie knew Ella's dad was a Muggle and Merlin, it probably took them ages to get those things up. She was thankful all she had to do was to flick her wand and everything got done in an instant. Thank Merlin for magic. "Speaking of that, how does he and Caleb deal with the fact that... you know, the kids are magical?" It was a genuine question that sparked Sophie's curiosity as she herself didn't have to deal with that. Her Muggle family didn't exactly know about their abilities, but they were only distant cousins now. And when the conversation turned to her parents, she smiled. "They are great, loving being grandparents too! Actually, the kids are with them now. First time I leave Scarlett with them!" And all parties were taking it pretty well, in her opinion. What a difference not being a first-time mum anymore did.

The brunette was still laughing. "You should be there, it'll be funnier then! Not sure he'd believe me if I said this is strange even for Muggles if you're not that to back me up." She finished with a soft chuckle, looking at the strange cover again. Merlin, some people were really creative. Maybe a little too much. Like her cousin. "I can definitely see Mandy rocking out to this. Maybe even use it in one of her shows." Merlin!

"She seems smart, I'm sure she does." Because Ella might not look it, but she was capable of great and terrible things when pushed, particularly by someone who went after people she loved.

"Dad likes a challenge. I imagine he thought of building the thing as a giant puzzle. He did a good job of it, too." The blonde smiled, Sophie's next question causing her to pause her skimming of records and turn towards her best friend. "I think they're used to it by now. They're mindful, especially when Sam is throwing his tantrums because he's at that age. They never make a big deal if something breaks or goes boom. It's easier since they both got to see how Cecelia's magic developed, and mine way before that in my dad's case. I think it sort of prepared them better." And she trusted them completely with handling situations when she wasn't around, which made days like this much easier on the normally nervous elephant lover. "Your parents have their hands full, then. Do they have the kids helping with plants already?"

"You know you can always count on me for that." Having Sophie's back was a forever job now. Ella laughed, shaking her head. "We should go to one of her shows soon, actually. Drag Alec and Mordred along. I don't remember the last time I had a date night."

Why he had always passed by this shop was beyond him. This was in one word ...cool. Dorian looked around in wonder. He had never seen this many cd's before. His father and grandparents prefered the radio.

He browsed the muggle music section. Every band name he read didn't light a bulb in his mind. He had no clue who they all were and judging by the kinds of albums they were he guessed that they had lived a very long time ago .

He moved to the next section and stopped in front of a odd looking thing. It was small like a matchbox and black. He dared to touch it and confirmed that it was made of plastic. He looked up at the small sign saying 'Cassette tapes' and frowned deeper. How did one listen music with that??

Brody never was a very big fan of music. He doubted he ever would be but as his Uncle Lucas wanted to stop by to get some romantic (ewwww) music for his Aunt, here he was in Atticuss. His arms were folded across his chest as he watched everyone around fawn over the merchandise or albums.

What is it with music that they all seem to like? he wondered.

The eleven year old moved closer to one of the tables. Both Muggle and Wizarding albums littered them. Growing up completely in the Wizarding world, he was familiar with the Weird Sisters, The Dead Kneazles...

It was the Muggle albums that he was more interested in.

Ewan walked into the music shop with a large grin across his face. This was his type of shop. Music. He loved music! The repetition of the beat allowed him to think clearly and focus. He had never dreamed that such a wonderful place could ever exist.

As the door closed behind him, he noticed the lack of walking space around the shop. Despite the lack of space, he entered the array of metal tables to find something new to listen to. With a loving touch, he picked up the first cassette tape he could lay his hands on, longingly wishing he had brought his cassette player with him. As he looked up, the spotted another boy in the store, arms folded across his chest. With a small smile, he looked shyly at the boy and then quickly glanced down at his cassette tape, aware that cassette tapes were not cool.

Brody was quite good at observing, people in particular. You see, people watching happened to be one of the things he enjoyed very much. A hobby, if you will. It was for this reason that he became aware of the boy about the same age as him fondly looking over the cassette. Even the gentle touch of the object did not go unnoticed. Brody continued to look at him out of the corner of his eyes, forgetting about the Taylor Swift record he had been so interested in.

Rather, it had been a picture of the pretty and blond Swift that had caught his attention.

Though it was the other kid that seemed to be interested in him. "Problem?'' Brody asked in a bored voice.

Noticing that the other boy had caught him, Ewan blushed, quickly looking down. "Err... no, sorry. I.. Uh.."Not quite sure what to say Ewan dropped the cassette tape that he had been looking at and turned slightly to face the boy.

"Sorry, Hi. My names Ewan. I'll be starting my first year at Hogwarts. I just noticed you looking at the music". Hoping the boy wouldn't think he was strange, he gave him a small smile. Ewan wasn't sure how Wizards interacted. It couldn't be that different than muggles, he mused.

Brody stared. Did this boy, Ewan, know not to trust strangers? Granted that Brody wasn't going to be doing anything strange to him, there were weirdos out there. And what he was supposed to say? Nice to meet you? Right. That was the last thing that he wanted to come out of his mouth so he just nodded. There was no need for he too to offer his name or to reveal that he would be at Hogwarts this year as well.

"Actually, I was looking at her.'' Brody pointed to Taylor's picture. "Hot, isn't she?'' There were other pictures that seemed to show her evolution as her career progressed starting with her in curly hair then her with straight hair and more make up. Curly haired Taylor was the cutest.

Taken aback slightly, Ewan stared at the boy briefly. I guess not everyone was as friendly as he was. Shrugging slightly, he smiled at the unknown boy. He'd always been brought up to be friendly, and he wasn't about to change. Grasping on to the only information that the boy put forward, he smirked. "Aha Taylor Swift? Most definitely! I mean, how can you not like her"he continued. Honestly, Ewan hadn't really given much thought to girls, he was more worried about what he was going to have for supper later, but he wanted the older boy to like him.

"So... are you going to tell me your name? Or do I need to call you Swifty?", winking cheekily, he picked up the Album and turned it over, looking at the track list.

Beth tossed her long hair before quickly scrambling and pulling it up into a bun. A high, very messy bun. A bun that could easily have been pulled together by someone while flying on a broom.

It wasn’t that bad honestly, it was just…not perfect, it didn’t live up to the slytherin standard for bun-ness. Really, it flopped and made the girl quite a bit cross as she stood there in front of the bins of music. ”stupid hair” she muttered before taking it down again and shaking it out – it was only then that she noticed the boy from the broom shop…and the popcorn stealer were talking to eachother.

Okay…nope, she didn’t want to deal with them today. Instead of dealing she simply picked a random album out of the bin and used it to hide her face. In reality it looked like the now opened vinyl was trying to swallow the girl whole.

Okay, it was obvious from the very beginning that he had entered what could only be called a new world. There were so many fantastic thing that he had seen today, but as the day wore on, it just got overwhelming. As he wandered down the street, he noticed a shop that looked, well, sort of normalish. It was music anyways.

Heading into the store, he looked around and shrugged. Could have been worse. Stepping up to the music tables, near some strange girl who seemed to be trying to hide, he started flipping through the albums there. It was odd, while he wasn't a music expert or anything, they were all names he wasn't familiar with. Where was Drastic Apparatus or Entangled Environment? "What is Disorder of the Phoenix?" asked aloud, studying the cover of the album.

Lex entered the music shop, excited to see what she may find. Her older cousin, Marigold, had just released some new music, and Lex wondered if she would find it here. She wasn't sure if her cousin was famous or not - she didn't really care about such things. But she had been excited to hear the music for a long time.

Lex was sure that she could find something great here. She loved music. Despite always knowing about the wizarding world and spending her entire life around some very skilled wizards and witches, Lex thought that something as simple as music was the most magical thing ever. And it would definitely help her relax if she got too nervous about her first year of Hogwarts.

After brushing a few strands of her blonde hair out of her face, she started browsing through the music. She had plenty of time to shop, and she was looking for something new - something different, like she had never heard before. All the while, she kept an eye out for her cousin's new album.

Beth shifted the album just enough to see who was speaking…their voice, they had a nice voice whoever it was. Oh. He looked nice in the kind face way…not the pretty face way even though maybe, just maybe it was a pretty face. ”I have no clue – their songs sound rather loud and angry-metal-y?” she spoke quietly before lowering the album again and turning to face the young wizard.

”Honestly I’m not into the loud s c r e a m y metally music and I think that’s what this is?” Beth simply provided nameless-boy with that fact before turning toward the rack once more and picking up a delicate looking album. ”Now this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8yvnqHmFds), is more my speed” she told him with a grin as she held up an old muggle album, her finger tapping against one of the songs on the cover. ”I don’t know why…his voice just kind of makes me smile and laugh its comically high pitched” she smiled over to the boy then and reached out her hand toward him.

”Hey, I’m Beth…are you going to Hogwarts next year?” she asked as the curiosity was getting to her.

Well, he hadn't meant cause the girl over there to talk to him, but that was okay. "They do sound angry, don't they?"he said, looking over at her as she lowered her album. She looked like she was about his age, which was pretty awesome, since he hadn't actually met anyone so far, besides Miss Fiona and the shopkeepers in the stores he had visited.

He frowned and slipped the album he was holding back into the display. He absently flipped through them as he watched her, "I tend to lean more towards Rock, myself, but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot here. It's all weird stuff." Looking over the one she pulled out he studied the cover. "I think I've heard that one before. It's really, really old though."

"Hogwarts, that's the magic school, right?" He was having a hard time remembering the name of it, it was just so weird. "Yeah, I'll be going there this year. And, I'm Edmund." He gave her a quick grin, and looked back down at the albums. "Ah, finally, here's one I know." he pulled out one that was covered in neon lights. "I like synth pop too, its a lot of fun."

Beth honestly didn’t mind talking to this guy, he seemed nice…and maybe he was her age? That would have been a plus because really she wanted friends that were close to her age and not creepy. Some of the people she had seen in this town were creepy which really, she was going to tell Q everything about this…it was I N T E N S E to say the least.

Beth flipped through more of the albums around her occasionally looking up at the boy she was talking to. When Edmund (as she had just learned was his name) spoke about the music he leaned towards she couldn’t help but grin, softly, but grin none the less. ”I like those too, yeah…there are a lot of obscure wizard bands and all of them have weird names like Acromantula?...who’d name their band after a spider that’s nearly six feet tall when full grown?” she shrugged rolling her eyes for extra effect.

Oh he’d heard the song? ”oh cool – I know…I like old things well some old things I don’t like old people in the like-liking sense…that’s gross and wrong and creepy” oh merlin stop talking ”I also don’t like old gone by food that’s…disgusting” dear merlin please stop my mouth from moving? She took a moment and gave him a cool, calm, and collected smile. ”Kidding obviously except for about the food gone-by-food is disgusting and the scruge of the earth…but old music is great” she smiled softly at him when he asked about Hogwarts.

”yes it is!” she nodded at him and then she leaned closer over the display of albums, ”I seriously wonder why they named it Hogwarts…I mean it is in Hogsmeade but – why name a school after a warty hog? Warts aren’t cool they’re practically parasites” oh…Edmund, that was a cool name.

”oooooh that’s a colorful one!” she smiled at him, ”and I like the name, you’re name it’s cool…not the music, I don’t think I’ve ever heard it…I’ll have to give it a listen” with a pause she asked ”muggle synth pop? Right…were I mean are you from a muggle non-magical family? If so, congrats y’know on being magical” she grinned at him – he seemed nice. Maybe she'd even consider being friends with Synth-pop boy.

I haven't heard any of her music.'' He looked back at the curly haired Taylor. Curly hair just like his except hers was blond and his was dark. "What do you think? Should I get one of her CDs?''

Brody blinked. What was it and people nicknaming him? First Curls and now Swifty. "Why do I get the feeling that even after I tell you my name you'll still call me Swifty?'' he asked, slightly irritable. Were kids his age always that immature? Really, nicknames were so boring.

Ed found himself smiling, as he talked to Beth. She seemed nice, and it was good to talk about something that was normal. Or at least half way normal, until she started talking about giant spiders. That was both alarming and pretty awesome.“No way, do those things really exist?” This new weird world of magic was apparently a lot more than doing magic tricks. “And you know normal bands have weird names. After animals, there's what, that really old one the Eagles, and one the Beetles, right? And you know, I bet there is even a band named Ham Sandwich., or Mutton Chop.” People just did really weird things with band names.

The poor boy wasn't entirely sure what to say when the girl started babbling on about old things. It was getting a little uncomfortable, but he cracked another smile, and tilted his head towards where the shopkeep was standing. “You mean old people like him?” he said, thinking it'd make for a better joke if he was old old, like his grandpa, not just old. “I don't know, he might tell you about all sorts of old music he likes.”

He nodded along with her. Hogwarts, he really need to remember that. “It is a weird name, but I guess magic people name everything like that.” After all, they had already exhausted all the strange names they named bands. “Parasites? I thought they were just weird skin things people got.” They weren't ticks or anything.

“yeah,” he said looking down at it, studying the cover, taking her talking in. He didn't know what could be considered cool about his name. It was just a normal name after all. “Uh, thanks, I guess, and yeah, its really cool, its like, uhh,” Quick math here and he looked at it again. “Wow, over 70 years old. I can't believe this thing still exists.” He looked back up at her questioningly. “Muggle? Um, whats that? And ahh, yes, non-magical. I mean, no one in my family can do magic, so yeah. What about you?”

Now, Brody was familiar with just a few Muggle bands and singers. It wasn't as though Lucas and Tallie had raised him to not be aware of that world. They had encouraged him to take an interest but the truth was, he hadn't been too keen on it. He shrugged and grabbed at random one of the CDs. It happened to be 'Fearless'. "If this is terrible or she sings purely about love, I'm finding you and shoving this in your hands.'' Brody waved the CD at Ewan.

"Anyway. I have to get going. I see my Uncle is done chatting.'' Sure enough, there was Lucas waving to get his nephew's attention. "See you around.'' Without another word, the future Slytherin disappeared to pay for his selection.

Simon had not long since been back in town before he found himself sidling to his favourite spot in the alley. Music was something he wished he had a talent for, but seeing as he did not, he listened to it with great fervor instead. Moving to the rock section of the vinyl gems he began to carefully flip through, looking for nothing in particular really. Just sometimes you had to wait until the music found YOU. Or something like that.

The dark haired man only paused now and then to pick one up and turn it over to read the tracks or some such. Or to occasionally brush a hand over his somewhat unruly hair. It was quite relaxing to be here in this familiar place if only for another half hour or so before he headed back to the office and out into the hustle and bustle of the alley in summer.

He was certain there was nothing much worse than the Alley in summer, either, All those sticky kids running about with no sense of decency or personal space. It was infuriating, really. Couldn't they restrict the hours in which they were ALLOWED to bother the grown ups? Pft. Kids were for the birds, he thought as he picked up one last album and flipped it over to scan the opposite side.

BINGO! He had found one he liked. Today was probably not going to be as bad as he had thought! Or one could hope, anyway!

This was needed – truly, it felt to Logan like she hadn’t had a break in a decade. It hadn’t been a decade, she was far too young for it to have been a decade already but it felt like that. The blonde ran a hand through her hair as she made her way into the store and over to the music tables.

This wasn’t her usual place, the music shop. Well, it wasn’t her place in the summer. The only place she seemed to frequent in the summer was the small coffee shop before her flat or work. Work, it was always work.

Every time she saw the kids though, she’d look up at them and make sure to take in as many details as she could…for work, all because of her boss’ new edicts about the happenings in the city. Kidnappings. Great time to send your kids freely into the city without supervision when people were still getting nabbed…without the kids it would be easy, there wouldn’t be any work even.

Well there still would be but there would be less. Looking up across the table she couldn’t help but smile when she saw the album in his hands. ”is that one good? I’m trying to find one that’s an escape from…well, work?” did she dare say the rest – an escape from diagon alley in the summer? Because that’s what it was.

He had, of course, been lost in his own thoughts and musings when he heard a voice across the table from him. Looking up from the album in his hand he offered a slight smile and a nod. "Yeh, it really is. Have you ever heard of the Arctic Monkeys? Really old Muggle band from the early 2010s or so. I quite enjoy their music still, though. These new Wrock bands and Muggle bands alike don't know what good music is." Especially some of the horribly entitled rich Wiz Kids that had started bands with their Mummy and Daddy's money and influence to back them. That "music" really just turned his stomach more often than not.

Of course he was too much of a gentleman to delve too much into his opinions on those matters.

Heh.

Giving the woman a quick glance over he couldn't help it really, he smiled more genuinely now. After a moment he offered her the album over the table. "If you want an escape from the here and now I reckon there is nothing better than what has been deemed ancient rock, I reckon." A slight chuckle escaped him, a gravelly sort of nature to it. "What kind of music do you tend toward then?" Might as well make conversation with a pretty lady... twas a right sight better than having to dodge sticky kids with no taste in music, wasn't it?

Ellie decided as long as she was here, that she might as well go into the music shop. It wasn't on her needed supply list, and she still had many important things to buy, but the eleven-year-old wanted a break from all of the excitement that was being thrown at her. Music always helped her re-energize and focus, so it made sense. And besides, this was way more fun than shopping for the actual important supplies she actually needed for actual academics. She could focus on that in a little bit.

She almost wished that her friends were here to help her pick as well, though she kind of liked doing it alone. It was her first real adult experience, her first real adventure. Ellie supposed doing it alone also made it a cooler experience like she was fully embracing the new adventure ahead. Goodbye, tennis camp. Hello, cool new school.

Besides, she needed to stop dwelling on it. They were going to be there later. She could always get the gossip when she went back home. It didn't matter at the moment. Ellie was going to miss them, sure, but she wasn't going to miss the annoying summer reading lists or the literacy tests, or the bad lunches. Tossing her thin brunette hair over her right shoulder, she hunkered down and continued looking, hoping to find something good. This wasn't productive to her main objective, but it was some type of productivity. She was procrastinating so hard at her ACTUAL responsibilities that she was being way more productive at the things she didn't need.

He had a nice smile, that was what she thought the moment she saw it. It was nice, it was real, it honestly seemed like he was a happy person and merlin did Logan like happy people. ”I think my cousin would love you for saying that…and I mean, its true” she paused for a moment her hand teaching out for the offered album. ”…I’ve learned a lot of the WROK bands have knocked off some older music like they don’t think we’d get it that it’s a really old muggle song.” she shrugged and grinned over to him before reaching down and thumbing through the albums until she found one that she knew.

”I’ve listened to this one before – my cousins’ husband introduced me to them.” she explained with a smile she handed it over, ”it’s the remaster from the mid-2010s…my favorite one is Sweet Jane” yeah, there was something about it – the quiet slow tempo of the song that she enjoyed. Still, maybe it was that she enjoyed the old British punk scene a bit – because wasn’t that what The Velvet Underground really was?

Koen had no idea what he was looking but he would know once he found it. Sometimes it was like that with music. A certain note or a particular beat could dance around in his head for days without him knowing where it came from. All he knew was he wanted something new, fresh, a different sound that he hadn't heard before. Perhaps something he could learn to play on his guitar or maybe even the drums since he was home for the summer.

The almost sixteen year old moved one of the boxes aside to gently pull another forward in order to look through the albums inside. So far he had gone through half the items on the table and nothing. He had found an album his little siblings would like though, kids songs or whatever sung by other kids. Keighley would likely enjoy that the most being the youngest of the three.

Patrick had wandered down the street and ended up at the music shop. He loved music, he was also trying to branch out and listen to more things wizard since his friends did. Yet he was still a huge fan of the super old rock music of years past. It was hard for him to describe exactly what the early emo/pop/punk music did to his soul and how well it fit his moods often.

He thumbed through some of the music looking at everything around him and taking in the scenery. He was going to enjoy window shopping the music. Even if that did feel a bit unorthodox to do at a music store.

Maeve hadn't a clue about music, if she was being honest, but as she was fourteen (and a half), she figured she ought to at least make an attempt to get into some of the wrock bands her peers were always talking about. Might help her to keep focused on reading and studying more, given she wasn't a quidditch player.

The blond popped into the shop, wondering if they were samples that she could listen to or maybe a familiar face she could ask for advice. Did one of the Emma Ds listen to music? Anahera probably listened to all the cool artists, but she was pretty much the girl next door to be envious over. Where were her dormmates when she needed them?

Oh there was a vaguely familiar boy who was about her age? Maeve watched him a moment, trying to recall his name .... and house ... Tilting her head casually, studying him.

Feeling someone looking at him Patrick glanced up. He spotted a girl with blond hair who looked about his age, he felt as if he should be able to pull her name from memory since he knew virtually everyone on the grounds. Yet for some reason he couldn't place her.

He looked away, a tiny bit afraid of being awkward. He had gotten used to his height and being tall for his age. He credited most of his confidence in his height to playing baseball this summer. It was teaching him about how to move and not look like a baby giraffe. With a quick glance to her he tried to place her again. His cheeks reddened with the idea of talking to her. He should just walk up to her and talk this out.

Koen had no idea what he was looking but he would know once he found it. Sometimes it was like that with music. HAHA. Of course Matt got her a VOUCHER as a birthday gift. She bet all of that Auror training was kicking his bum and his brain had been all over the place lately. Anna thought that was HILARIOUS and didn't mind much anyway, as something from the Music shop was always a good thing to have.

Old school was her favourite, so the almost fourth year knew where to go as soon as she walked into the shop. She decided to bring her Pygmy Puff with her. He was a YEAR OLD that week - or at least... he had been given to her by Chase a year ago, so she just assumed the creature was around a year old too.

Anyhow, she was already looking through some old discs when she saw a hand pushing and pulling boxes near where she was. Looking up, she smiled when she recognised her ninja friend - heehee. "Hey there! Looking for the perfect soundtrack for our next training session, are you?" She asked, cheeky grin in place.

"You ... play on the Slytherin Quidditch team, right?" She was pretty sure she recognized him from that. Because she wasn't a player herself but she was an avid supporter thanks to two of her dormmates plus Chase playing for Gryffindor.

Also, she totally didn't remember his name. Something with a P, maybe, Peter? Pedro? Eh, he'd tell her, hopefully, unless he ran out of the shop embarrassed?

With sunglasses still resting on his nose, Chase flipped through a couple records as he pretended to be a very important person. All important people wore sunglasses inside, right? Like the great muggle actor whom had played Iron Man in the 2000s. Yeah he was cool. Ignoring the people who could have been throwing confused looks, he continued pursuing until it became much more difficult to read the songs on the back of the latest TDK album.

Blasted small font, he thought, as he lifted his sunnies and rested them on his hair. He didn’t have this one... Hmmm... to buy or not to buy that WAS the question.

Kamryn was looking around the music shop, her fingers delicately moving over the spines of some cds, she had a certain few artists in mind that she was looking for and so far she couldn’t find any of them! She sighed as she ran a hand through her long brown hair and her blue eyes fluttered around the store for a minute before the landed on a boy who, if she had met him earlier this year, would have made her heart flutter wildly.

But, thankfully no one had known of her feelings for him, and now she got to be confused about Frankie. Whom she was pretty sure liked Anahera and not her, such was her luck wasn’t it? It was a good thing she told no one of her feelings and suffered in silence. That was always best yeah?

She looked down for a moment, taking a beat to steady herself and to make sure the aforementioned organ was indeed not pumping wildly.

Thankfully it seemed like she was all right, and so she moved towards Chase with a warm, if not slightly hesitant smile. “Hey Chase. ” She said in a soft voice.

Max Barton Anderson-Belfort hated Diagon with a capital H A T E. There were few places the 10-year-old felt comfortable (his home, the Barton home, Damien's place, the glen near his house, Joshua Tree- basically anywhere where there was more nature than people) thanks to his nervous disposition and lack of social engagement, but Diagon took the metaphorical cake with it's rushing crowds, loud noises, strange artifacts and the promise of an unnerving future.

He had been dragged here by his parents and Damien. Dragged, squirming and whining only to be told time and again that today was special. a rite of passage every witch and wizard had to go through and Max would be sad one day if he missed it.

They didn't take it into account that he might be sad today or his fears. The wand chose the wizard, he knew that very well - Thank you, Ollivander biography - what if no wand chose him? What if they all decided he wasn't magical enough, or clever enough, or brave enough or resourceful enough, or funny enough, or determined enough or cool enough or-

Or anything enough.

He was no Damien.
He was no Barton.
and Max was okay with that (maybe), so why couldn't his family let him live out his life quietly like he wanted? Max wandered aimlessly through the music shop, asking himself this question over and over again with his hand tight around his inhaler and his eyes soaking up every bit of this new environment. the young boy had dashed away from Damien while the young man had gotten caught up with an old friend and this... music shop had been the first place he'd ducked into.

It was, ironically quiet for a music shop and not very busy and that was just how Max Barton Anderson-Belfort liked it. Quiet, mostly devoid of people and full of interesting things.

Today's exploration of Diagon Alley saw him in the music shop again, but this time Józef steered VERY clear of the band merchandise tables. As much as he longed for some magazines and a t-shirt (or twelve), he was NOT risking the same thing happening again, knowing he'd probably get caught this time and getting caught was the definition of uncool.

So he'd stolen borrowed some from Flynn and tried to do some research as best he could and now he was HERE in search of the Dead Kneazles, and a bunch of Muggle bands whose names he had scribbled onto his hand.

But Jó was distracted by another kid, who he guessed to be about the same ages as himself, across the other side of the table. A kid who not only looked his age, but also looked - cue stage whisper - kinda like him.

And so staring ensued.

Lots of staring was happening. Staring at kid, oblivious to his discomfort.

Kamryn was beautiful. Those were the three words that crossed Chase's mind when he glanced up to see her. He wished he still had his sunglasses on so he wouldn't have to worry about staring admiring her personality and just general loveliness. "Heya Kam!" he grinned and then found himself struggling for words to say next. He had so many questions to ask her- some of the personal nature and others of a friendly nature. She was a mate after all and he wanted to hear how things were. However he had a hunch that she had developed a hunch on Mr. Frankie- Lucas' friend who had kind of become Chase's acquaintance-friend.

"How's it going? What brings you here?" he asked before realizing his second question may have been quite abrasive. Of course she could be here, Chase. Don't be daft. Free country and all. He was about to correct himself but then decided that his inner voice was just over-complicating his words once again.

Where did that cool, cool confidence disappear to, Spenley?

The playful grin was indeed there on his face when he lifted his gaze away from the current album he was checking out. "I might be but I'm not sure I could handle it if you got anymore pumped up due to the music," Koen teased right back. Anna was definitely an easily excitable girl and her enthusiasm during their training sessions never wavered. It was something he really liked about her.

"So what brings you in here? Looking for something specific or just browsing?" He glanced over at the boxes she was looking through as well. "Find anything good in those?" With as many boxes stacked on this table he hadn't made it over to the ones she was looking through. "How's your summer going? Keeping up with your training or am I going to have you work twice as hard once we're back at Hogwarts?" She was returning to Hogwarts, right?

Kamryn gave Chase a soft smile as he greeted her and she once again had to check herself for heart flutters. She was mostly pleased with the result, only a few. Good. Looks like she was almost fully over him! She knew he liked Maeve, and she was just a friend.

She was just glad no one had ever found out! She really was the suffer in silence type.

She ran a hand through her light brown hair as he spoke and shot him a warm smile. “It’s going all right.”, though if she was truthful things weren’t fully all right. She was nervous about going back to school after the Inferi attack, especially with her brother not being there. It really seemed like she had been the only one of her friends who had been involved with the attack! A few of them hadn’t even known it was happening!

“I’m looking for a few old albums of muggle music that I really like, I’m hoping to find a cd or two.” She said with a nod. “How are you? Anything you are looking for in particular?” She asked softly.

Anna laaaughed out loud at his comment about him not being sure if he could handle her if the music got her too pumped. "Yeah, I'm not sure if you'd win a fight against me if the right soundtrack was playing. Good to know! I'll keep that in mind in case I need to teach you a lesson." She laughed some more.

When he asked her what brought her there, she held up the voucher her brother had given her. "This." She snorted. "Nothing specific, exactly, but I do like old school music, both Muggle and Wizard." The girl nodded, looking back at the content of the boxes in front of her. She pulled up an old vinyl of Celestina Warbeck and looked back at Koen. "How do you like some banshee screeching?" She asked, laughing again. "She's my cousin's favourite." Anna added, still laughing and shaking her head.

The Gryffindor flashed him the brightest of smiles when he asked her about her summer. "I won one of the broom races I did this time!" Proud of herself was an understatement, alright. "And!" Her smile played between amused and sheepish as she got ready to share the newest news. "Let's say I won't have to try out to make the Quidditch team this year." She chuckled. DID HE UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT MEANT? Heeheeheee!

Koen laughed as well. "Is that a challenge? See who can beat who while your favorite soundtrack is playing?" There was a hint of playfulness in his tone but there was also a touch of seriousness. Perhaps this was something they could test out this term. Add some music to their training sessions just for the fun of it and see what happens.

Ah, the ever famous gift card. He had gotten a few of those through the years. "Gift cards could be the only thing standing between a decent gift and something even your worst nightmares couldn't conjure up," Koen laughed. "Looks like we have about the same tastes in music." He had grown up listening to many different bands both Muggle and Wizard... and Hady's while she was in The Sirens. "Nah... I'm not a fan of anything that can make my ears bleed." He smirked at Anna.

"Did you? That's great, Anna!" He smiled patting her shoulder. She had worked so hard to fly in those races and to hear she won this time was really nice. And? Koen raised an eyebrow curiously. "You won't... how co-" Before he finished that question the answer dawned on him. The only way she wouldn't have to tryout for the team was if she was already on the team and the only way that could happen during the summer was if... "You made Captain?!" That had to be it!

Anna's eyes twinkled with amusement. "I like that! We have to do it!" She said determined and yet with a chuckle. "I'll choose a song and then you choose another. We'll see if our songs help our performance." Her smile was all amusement but now she had decided they really did have to do it, so they HAD TO! Never mind she knew he was still a lot better than her, but STILL. She would kick his BEHIND kind of not really, but oh well, it'd be fun anyway.

The Gryffindor laughed at his comment about gift cards. "That's true. And now that I think about it, it's a good thing Matt gave me this instead of a random gift. The way his brain is at the moment, he'd probably give me a rubber chicken." She shook her head, looking somber all of a sudden... only to crack a smile again after a second or two. "He already given me one of those for my ninth birthday; I can't have that again." She laughed. Anna then raised her eyebrows in surprise when he said they had similar taste. "Really!? That's interesting. I wonder what you'll pick for our training." She gave him an amused yet teasing look. "It needs to be good, 's all I'm going to say." She added, laughing. She laughed even more at his comment about Celestina Warbeck. "I know! How do people even enjoy music with screeching banshees in the background!?" And she wasn't being dramatic. There were literal screeching banshees in the choir. How?? WHY? "I don't get it." She snorted.

"It is!!" The brunette beamed because of her broom race results. She watched him and chuckled as she could see the exact moment the sickle dropped. It was as if the words coming from someone else's mouth meant even more and she jumped up and down, flailing her hands in excitement when he said it. "I did, I did!" She could SCREAM! She HAD done a fair share of screaming already, so she didn't while inside a shop because she didn't feel like being kicked out just yet. "I couldn't belIEVE it! I got worried about Abra but then he told me he was still coming back to school anyway but as a prefect, so it's all good!" She blurted, beamed again as she stopped jumping.

Oh so he recognized her too, but wait, did he think she played on the snake quidditch team?? She wasn't a quidditch player. At all. And the only reason she recognized him as a player was from going to the matches to watch Chase and Emma and Anna. Speaking of Chase, there was him over with Kam, whom she turned and gave a small wave to, although they seemed rather involved in conversation, so Maeve wasn't sure how much they would notice her. Or not.

Also, the goofy wave? She was plenty goofy with Chase so it didn't really phase her at all. "Probably classes. I'm a Gryffindor and I don't play quidditch. Just a supporter for my friends. Likeeee him over there? Chaser Chase." She grinned, in her own goofy way, still finding it amusing that he was placed as a Chaser given his name. "Maeve though. Fourth year. I think you are too, maybe?" He was kinda tall, so it was hard to tell. He could have been a fifth or sixth year for all she knew, but she was almost positive she recognized him from her sorting.

Koen chuckled lightly in amusement. "Alright, deal. Only after I make sure you're back into the swing of things when we get back to school, okay?" All he needed was her getting hurt because she wasn't prepared or something. Maybe sometime in October after they had gotten back into the swing of things.

"A rubber chicken? Why? Is he a prankster?" It had to be likely that was the case. A rubber chicken wasn't your common everyday gift to give someone. Koen shrugged his shoulders. "I like a lot of different music." Some more calmer relaxed music and some louder music with awesome guitar and drum solos. "We'll have to see. I have no idea what I'll pick just yet." Something upbeat and that put him in a good mood for sure. Anna's laughter easily mixed with his own. "My guess is they like giving themselves a headache." What other reason was there for listening to that stuff? None, that's what.

Gosh she reminded him of his younger siblings and little cousins with her excitement! For some reason it always made him smile though. "That's amazing, Anna! I'm sure you'll be a terrific captain." Especially with her energy. Oh, yeah, he knew Abra. Good to know the guy was going to be returning and as a prefect. This was something he was going to keep in mind. It was always good knowing who the prefects were.

Anna smiled, amused. "Alright, boss." She teased before laughing. Deep down, she knew he was looking out for her, so she wasn't going to protest. Besides, she had to make sure she wouldn't get injured this term at all because that'd be just terrible and would ruin literally everything. So yeah, no injuries, thanks.

"Yeah, and it makes this insane noise too. Annoying in quite a funny way. A very Matt thing, if you ask me." She explained nonchalantly as she resumed looking through the boxes to see if she found anything she was interested in. She smiled at the fact he didn't know what to pick just yet. "I don't either. Definitely the most upbeat song I can think of!" The Gryffindor said, sending him her signature cheeky grin. Aaand onto more laughing because they had the same opinion on that particular Witch singer. "Or those whose family is already so loud a few screeching banshees in the background won't make much of a difference." She said kind of meaning her family because they could be L.O.U.D, especially when all the cousins got together. Especially THAT particular cousin too. Not that Anna complained about it, being kind of loud herself. STILL. No Celestina Warbeck for her.

His next comment made her smile beam even more and she bounced on the balls of her feet. "Thanks! I hope so." She said, biting her bottom lip a few times before grinning again. She was NERVOUS but EXCITED at the same time. Probably more excited than nervous. "I can't wait to see who'll try out and what the team will be like!" AND she truly hoped they would win, but only time would tell.

Going all right? He wondered what all right meant. A pout half formed on his lips before he stopped himself as he thought about the very nature of such a phrase. The phrase itself could mean a series of things. It could be positive, neutral, or negative. Oh the English language -- how seemingly concealing it could be hiding its speaker's true intentions. He wondered if she was alright after the attack. Chase had been fortunate enough not to have any unfortunate encounters with the creatures. He paused, wondering if he should dig deeper into her comment. Instead he stopped himself and smiled.

If Kam said that she was alright, then she must have been. He smiled softly. "I'm just pursuing myself. Trying to find a new album to choreograph a dance too..." He could feel himself blushing as he informed her that he liked to dance. As he reached up to scratch the back of his head gently, he paused and then saw a certain blonde out of the corner of his eye. And then she was waving at him and Kam. Oh hey Maeve! He waved back and silently wondered who she was with. Who was THAT guy? Kinda curious but he turned his attention back to the lovely Kam.

He was ready for the dance club this year. With Lucas as the President and their fearless leader, Chase HAD to be prepared so he needed his practice. He couldn't show up to the first day being rusty. People would think that he had two left feet. And Chase Spenley certainly didn't have two left feet.

"Got any suggestions?"

Kamryn was glad Chase didn’t push about her being all right, and she bit her lip a little as she tried to pretend that things were all right, that she wasn’t scared about going back to school and that it didn’t at all sting standing here talking to a guy who didn’t like her. She thanked her lucky stars again that no one knew of her former feelings for Chase.. or anyone really. She much preferred to keep things to herself. It was just.. easier that way.

“Oh yeah? A dance? ” She asked and then her blue eyes took in his wave and she bit her lip and turned her head to see Maeve there talking to someone.. Oh.

Kamryn’s face fell and she swallowed and ran a hand through her hair as she looked around a bit. She was obviously holding Chase back from being with the girl he liked and she bit her lip and fidgeted a bit. Got to love real world reminders that she was indeed not even close to being good enough. Not for Chase, not for Frankie, not for anyone.

“You should go say hi.” Kam’s voice was soft as she looked at Chase. “I was almost done anyways. ” She said quickly as an excuse to exit stage left before she started to cry. “I’ll see you around yeah?” She said as she started to edge away.

Chase was excited when’s kam seemed intrigued by him looking at music to dance too but it all changed so rapidly. He looked back to her and saw Kam looking at him. He blinked. What? She was almost done? She was.... He blushed at the thought and then awakened LT paused. He eyed Maeve and then shook his head. He wasn’t even sure if she felt the same way about him. Perhaps it was silly pining after a close friend besides if they did date (which was a big IF because who knew if she could even like him?! I mean he was Chase Spenley after all... laaaadies. Laaaadies ;). Anyway- he was unsure. And here he was losing Kam as she was trying to avoid him.

He reached out and grabbed her arm gently. “Don’t go. I want to spend some time with you too, y’know. It’s not often you get to run into a friend at a music store...” His gaze softened when he realized that perhaps he was the one holding her up now. “Unless you have plans and I’m keeping you....” Now he felt incredibly awkward and awful as if he had done something wrong.

“You can’t leave without finding a song.”

Boss. Oh, dear Merlin that made him sound... old. Shaking his head he laughed. "Just so I'm not a bossy boss, right?" No one enjoyed having someone else boss them around. Not that he would do that to her so she had nothing to worry about.

"My younger siblings would probably enjoy it then." The three little ones liked most things that made loud noises or repeatedly playing music and flashed lights and colors. "Yeah cause what you need is something to make you even more hyper," Koen teased lightly. As if that was even possible. "If that's the case I should love that music then, my house is noisy a lot... especially when Hady comes with her kids and my uncles comes over with his kids too." When they're all together that makes twelve little kids. Twelve kids under the age of six. It gets LOUD.

Seeing the excitement on his friends face made him smile. "Don't worry I'm sure you'll have a great team this term." If she had the team train and practice half as hard as she normally did on her own they would be fine.
