The first thing you notice as you walk out in the grounds toward the usual CoMC area is the a sign by barnyard's ajar doors. "Enter". So you enter inside to see nothing particular unusual in the Creature Housing area.. So far. Professor Thompson is casually leaning against one of the already closed animal pens waiting. Welcome.

FAVORITE SUBJECT ALERT.
Eden was in a gooooood mood for this class because this class ALWAYS put her in a good mood. She walked down to the grounds, tying her hair back as she went, and stopped only when she reached the creature pens. She smiled at Professor Thompson. "Good day, Professor...how're you doing?"
So she was feeling friendly. Professor Thompson was always nice, though...she didn't think he'd mind the casual conversation.
She was also the first one here. Or one of the first ones here. Well then. COME ONE FRIENDS, COME!

Ethan stretched his arms and let out a big yawn before he entered the barnyard. He had a good sleep back in their dorm, which was kind of rare last term given it was his OWL year. Somehow, he still felt a bit sleepy, but is hopeful that Professor Thompson will fix that in a minute or so.
CoMC was always packed with an interesting activity anyway, so he was kind of sure that he’ll feel pumped once the class starts. Making sure that he was all ready, Ethan knocked on the door twice, pushed it open and had let himself in. “Hello, Professor.” Uh-huh. Nothing unusual, eh? The man probably disillusioned a creature or something behind him so they won’t get over excited, eh? Ethan stood behind the back of the room and waited for the rest to arrive.

COMC lessons were his favorite.
You didn't have to be close to Benny to know that about the sixth year. And the Gryffindor was ready for the latest lesson...despite anything currently going on with his life. He would be doing his best to simply enjoy the class and whatever Professor Thompson had to show the class on the subject matter.
So at the appropriate time and in the usual comfortable clothes, Ben picked his way across the grounds to the COMC area. Seeing the note on the door, he quietly slipped inside and took in the usual surroundings. Nothing seemed to be there out of place or grabbing his attention, including the presence of a certain Hufflepuff. "Hello Professor," he said, greeting the man simply as he took a spot off to the side to await the beginning of the lesson.

WOOT!
CoMC, HERE CAME ADI!
The Hufflepuff hopped and skipped practically all the way over to Barnyard, wasting no time in entering through the structure's slightly opened doors. It did say 'enter', after all. And there was the Professor! "Hiya, Professor!'' Whaaaat was in there? The pen that the man was guarding, he meant. Wasn't there someway Adi could take a peek? But he could see no way for him to do this. How disappointing.
Anywayyy. There were Ethan and Eden. "Hey, guys!'' he said happily as he came to a stop beside Ethan aka his rock n' roll buddy. He noticed Benny by himself but Adi ignored him completely and fidgeted with the Manchester United badge that Henric had given him earlier that term. Yeah, Benny. Surely you noticed Adi always wore the badge?

With one hand shoved into his pocket and the other hand twirling his wand deftly through his fingers, Toby stepped into the barnyard. He was tired, worn out in all the ways, and feeling kinda despondent. All these things he put down to his NEWT studying, at least if anyone were to ask. It seemed that the NEWTs were really living up to the name, which was horrific and stressful but provided the perfect excuse for things.
In any case, today was CoMC, one of Toby's favourite classes and one of the ones he found it easy to do well in, so of course he was here. His love for animals had probably grown a hundredfold, if that was possible, since recent things that he was trying to not think about. Still twirling his wand, doing some neat little tricks as he did so, Toby glanced around for any clue of what they might be looking at today. Seeing nothing particularly telling, he simply looked to Thompson, said, "Hi Professor T," then looked back to his watch still-twirling wand.
It was fantastically soothing, really, to watch and do. AND it kept his fidgety hands busy, so that was like a double bonus.

Smile on her face, Lux made her way to the Care of Magical Creatures classroom. She was looking forward to seeing what they would be working with today. She hoped it would be more unicorns, but that was doubtful. A lesson on mermaids would be so amazing. That would be her favourite for sure.
Seeing some of her classmates already inside the creature housing area, Lux waved at them. "Hello, everyone." And of course Professor Thompson was there too; she noticed him leaning against one of the animal pens. "Hello, Professor!"

Care of Magical Creatures!
That's what time it was and just where Hady was headed. This was one lesson she was always excited for and couldn't help but hurry to. As she reached the open door of the barnyard with it's 'Enter' sign hung beside it she did as told and walked inside. Glancing this way and that it was easy to see there currently wasn't anything to much of interest in view. Hmm...
Without a clue as to what the lesson held in store Hady grinned brightly anyhow, "Hello Professor," she chirped warmly sending a wave the mans way. Everyone else got a grin or a nod of the head in greeting sent their way. She was in a good mood today and it showed. Hopefully whatever they got to do today with keep her in a good mood or even better, push her into a great mood. Now just what was it they'd be doing?

Henric was very....repeat...VERY....excited for this class. He practically ran as fast as he could from his dormroom to his favourite class of all time, and it only took him what..less than 8 mins to reach. He was panting like a dog, literally trying to catch his breath with little strength left in him.Man...that was brilliant! He waved at the professor,"Professor Thompson, its really good to see you again!"he greeted happily before he proceed to join the rest of the group.

CREATURES! Caleb loved creatures. Which was ironic, since apparently he couldn't keep track of his own creatures very well - he hadn't seen Beans in like, a week. Maybe more. He wasn't sure, the rat was sleeping most of his life away so he never really took too much notice of him. Maybe he'd met a cute lady rat in the kitchen and run away? He wouldn't be too surprised. Happy for him, really.
Taking a seat next to Ethan, Caleb smiled at him and then turned to the professor. "Hey, Professor," he said to Thompson with a smile.

Angel was totally not looking forward to this lesson, everything was going wrong at the minute and it took all her strength just to drag herself to where the lesson was taking place, getting to where the lesson was taking place she looked around and saw that the Professor was leaning again a close pen.
"Good day Professor." Angel smiled at him. "How are you today?" Angel thought that it was only polite to ask him even if her own day was going really wrong.

Janelle was soooo excited for Care of Magical Creatures class. She didn't know what the professor had in store for today's lesson, but she was sure that she would enjoy it. She almost always did. When she arrived at the barnyard, Janelle went inside and saw that a number of her classmates had already arrived.
"Hello Professor Thompson", Janelle said with barely contained enthusiasm. What animal would they be working with today? She hoped it would be one of her favorites. Well, they were pretty much all her favorites so she couldn't go wrong. Giving a wave to her friends, the second year found a spot to park herself until class started. "Hi Adi", Janelle said to her older friend. She had not had a lot of time to talk with him so far this term. She would definitely have to do better. Now if only class could begin, life would be great.

Care of Magical Creatures.
Dante was interested as long as the animals were interesting and that was about it. Everything else was not important. Professor Thompson was cool enough, look at him leaning against an animal pen so naturally. As if he does that every day. Maybe he does.
Dante does not know
"Hello Professor"
Now all Dante could hope is that they were not studying flobberworms because face it, anything is better than flobberworms.

Passing through the entryway to the barnyard, Sophie took in everything that was there - which was nothing out of the ordinary, besides the gathering of other students and Javy, which was still pretty normal for a class, so... hm. What WOULD they be working with today?
Shrugging a little at her own thoughts, Soph crossed over toward the group and instinctively gravitated toward Tobes, standing beside him and giving him a very gentle, playful nudge with her elbow accompanied by a friendly smile.
Hi, best friend. Hi.
Oh, and she gave a cheery little, "Hi, professor," to Javy, too, though she didn't think he would have been particularly hurt if she hadn't greeted him. He knew the way things were. It would've been fine.

Zhenya had already been walking around outside the Hogwarts grounds, enjoying the cool grounds, when she looked at her watch and knew it was time to head over to Care of Magical Creatures. She slung her bag on her back and made her way down to the barnyards, and entered the barnyard with the sign. There were a few people here already, and Professor Thompson of course.
"Hello Professor," Zhenya greeted Professor Thompson with a smile. She smiled at her friends who had already assembled in the lesson, and went to stand by Lux.

This was one of the classes Jenna really looked forward to every time. Creatures were some of her favorite things to learn about - some creatures more than others, but they were still cool in general too.
"Hi, Professor," she greeted with a smile before taking a spot beside Hady. She gave her dormmate a smile too before looking around, as if that might help her figure out what this lesson was going to be about.

Yep, again, for a second year, Marigold was taking Care of Magical Creatures RECREATIONALLY (because of that blasted OWL grade). Which was weird because she liked animals, a lot, but whatever. That's why she was taking the class again.
YOOOO. Cool!professor. One of the only sane ones, though less sane now that Piers wasn't there. Sadface. "Hello, professor!"

Marsha was happy. And she was skipping… Though, coming down the hill she had flown run down part of it, her arms flung out to the side as if she could catch the wind under her wings and fly upwards into the sky. Oh, how amazing that would be… like flying only BETTER.
With slightly pink cheeks from the run, and a huge BEAMING smile on her face, the Welsh girl waved at the Professor as she walked into the housing area. She knew better than to run, full force into a building with animals in it; that was just mean and would likely upset a few of the glorious creatures that considered this building home. Nope, you had to walk politely and quietly up to an animal's home if you expected them to give you any thought or attention.
Just like Rusty and she had done over Christmas break with the baby bunnies.
”Hi, Professor.” she said, her fingers playing with the warm material of her jumper. She had opted for jeans and a jumper so that she wouldn’t be cold, but she could be as hands-on as Professor Thompson let them be without ruining her school uniform.
As always, she was excited for class and excited to learn.

Care of Magical Creatures, man. It was one of this subjects, you know? Either they were gonna learn about some dead interesting creatures which would lead to a freaking interesting lesson OR they were gonna be dealing with creatures more annoying than the Talking Toadstools. And boy, was that saying something.
It was probably because of curiosity alone that the seventh year tried to get a peek at any new creatures once he entered the barnyard, only to be disappointed moments later. Nothing unusual here. Where were all the cool creatures at? The Graysons of the animal kingdom? He wanted to be learning about THOSE.
Spotting the Professor, Grayson gave the man a small smile and a 'sup nod while saying, "Heeeeeey, Professor Thompson." Yeah, good to see him and all that jazz. Not wanting to seem like an eager beaver but also not wanting to miss anything exciting, Grayson came to a stop somewhere near the front of the class and tucked his hands in his pockets.
Bring on the creatures, man.

He wondered what creature was in it.
He took a seat next to Grayson and waited for the lesson to start.

Well then, there was no other reason to delay the start of lesson given the telling eagerness on some faces still. When it was officially time, he removed himself to stand up straight. "Good day everyone. Today we will be practicing real care in the creatures provided for us." Now then, "Before I unravel the doors here, by show of hands who has had experience with caring for a human infant? He definitely knew some in here did indeed have experience. He waited to get a good estimate of hands before moving on, "Alright. Even those who haven't are free to answer, what is one of the most important things they desire in order to live happily and healthy?"

Dot sparkled generally in the professor's direction. He looked like he needed a hug, and she was a very good hugger. And also, she was hoping that if they got tasked with something yucky, he might offer to be her partner on account of how charming she was.
BUT BABIES! Oh! Dot knew about babies. "I have a baby brother, Professor! His name is Bubba, and he needs attention. If you give him a little love, he just lights up like you gave him the whole big moon." She paused. "His name is Sammy, actually, but we call him Bubba."

Marigold PERKED UP at the mention of BABIES. Her hand shot up. SHE DID. SHE CARED FOR BABIES. Her best friend's LITTLE ICKLE SISTER, THAT'S WHO!!! And she held Mitch's niece person. ALL THE BABIES. YES. What was the question?
OH. Happy babies. "LOVE!" Marigold demonstrated by hugging the person next to her. "Even though it sounds WEIRD babies of ALL SPECIES need love and care! There was this muggle study done in like…I don't know for sure, but a LONG TIME AGO, like, BEFORE Glitter Dragon. Anyway. Basically these scientists studied rats that had been pet as babies, and rats that HADN'T been pet as babies, and the rats that had been LOVED were all happy and healthy. But the poor unloved rats were very SCARED of even SMALL THINGS and seemed very anxious and had faster heartbeats. So love is SUPER important."

It was time for class to begin and Professor Thompson certainly got right to the point. When he asked the first question, Janelle's hand shot up. "I've had a little experience caring for an infant. Well, as much as I was allowed." She loved babies and children in general, but not everyone was comfortable with a kid taking care of their baby. She went on to answer the Professor's other question.
"Babies need food to be healthy and happy. If they don't get it, they will make sure to let everyone know about it."

Still purposely toying with the Manchester United badge which was situated right next to his Prefect one, Adi turned his attention to Janelle. He smiled widely at her. Where had she been hiding lately? Sure he saw her around during classes and here and there around the other parts of the Caste but how was it that they hadn't hung out in a while? Hmmm. "Heya, Janelle! How's it going? What's Jasmine up to?" Adi did miss the other girl.
....................
Oh they were starting! ...with a rather unusual question. Did that mean that they were going to care for a tiny creature? Is that what Professor Thompson was hiding? Anywayyy, about the tiny human beings... Adi raised his hand. Yes, he had a bit bit of experience with infants. Hannah's kids, Henry and Iris, whom he referred to as Little Monster Number One and Little Monster Number Two respectively. "Uh... for you to be gentle with them even if they aren't with you. That way they never get hurt.'' Henry certainly hadn't been gentle with him with all those bites Adi had gotten on his shoulder.

Bleu thought about that question for a few moments. She had helped her aunt with her little cousins a lot. But she never really thought about what they needed to be happy and healthy. She raised her hand, "Professor, babies need formula, a lot of careful watching, diapers changed, and just a lot of love and care to be happy and healthy. It's a lot of work to take care of an infant." She was kind of nervous about what animal they would be taking care of in class now. Hopefully she wouldn't do the wrong thing.

Woah Kace made it just in time because when he sat down, he realized Professor Thompson started the lesson. He asked an interesting question about if anyone had any experience taking care of an infant. Kace raised his hand instantly because he had experience taking care of his little cousins. I mean he was always asked to babysit and what not. He heard Professor Thompson's question and he heard Janelle's and Bleu's answer and he couldn't of have said it any better. He went with their explanations and added on to them a little bit...
"Professor babies need a sense of security in order to survive. I mean if they are uncomfortable in their environment and can't adapt it could put a damage in their rate to grow."
There that sounded good. He sat back and waited for the Professor to move on.

Henric waved to Adi and the rest of the group he was with."Hey Adi! Hi Ethan,Hi everyone... oh Adi, you got that Manchester badge I see, me too! Brilliant mate! We should go to one of their matches one day,if you're still up for it!" he chuckled as he showed him his own Man U. badge. He looked around for Benny and wondered if they made up yet. Oh....there was Benny over at the other side. He should wave at him too,"Hey Benny!"
-------------------------------------
Although Henric had no younger siblings or cousins of his own, he used to care and student volunteer over at the children orphanage too. He raised his hands,"Yes I did too professor,"he replied. He went silent after that when the professor asked them what the infants need most to live happily and healthily. He guessed...it would be someone to love them and care for them as best as they could. It would not always be perfect, but atleast they did not mean to abandon or leave them in the care of someone else's arm.

Eden was officially SET. HAPPY. EXCITED. IF terrible things happened EVERY day this week, Eden would still be happy because of THIS lesson, okay? Her hand SHOT into the air at Professor Thompson's question. "Yes--babysitting is hard, but rewarding, if you like it--and they definitely need food. Nutrition to stay alive. And you have to feed kids or children at the right times, too..not when it's convenient for YOU."

As more people arrived Lux sent them smiles and waves. It was almost time for them to begin. Yay, Zhenya had joined her. "Hey!" she said while giving her friend a playful nudge before the lesson started.
Had she any experience caring for a baby? Not yet though of course she had held them before. This would change soon enough when she became an aunt and could help her sister and Jaxson with the baby. She wanted to help them even if they were around at the time.
Raising her hand, Lux answered the question. "Babies want love and hugs! Everyone feels better with love in their lives and hugs bring happiness." Yep, loads of LOVE and HUGS.

BABIES? SHE KNEW ABOUT THESE. Norah waved a hand enthusiastically in the air and waited impatiently for her turn to spread aaaalll the baby wisdom. She had two whole entire little brothers, okay? She was experienced. An expert, even, except maybe not because she was never ever going to be a real expert if real experts had to deal with diapers. That was a big no. "They don't like it if you put funny hats on them or pull their toes or wake them up when they're sleeping even if it's for a really good reason," she began, nodding knowingly because this was good information here. Hopefully the others were taking notes. And for the record, having a bruise shaped like a butterfly WAS a good reason to wake up a baby, even if her mum and baby Marcel didn't think so. "So I think they want comfort. Or maybe respect. Or maybe they're comfortable when they're respected. I dunno which."
WERE THEY GONNA PLAY WITH BABIES? That's be almost as fun as the unicorns. Almost.

As focused as he was on the fidgeting he was doing, it was impossible to miss the nudge he got, and Toby looked up to see Soph standing right there. He smiled back at her, and returned the elbow nudge. Hi, best friend.
Toby continued whirling and spinning his wand around his fingers with no sign of stopping, even as Thompson began speaking. It was good to have it back again, even if he wasn't doing magic, purely for fidgeting reasons. As for the actual lesson, this sounded like something Toby would absolutely enjoy and maybe do well with. He glanced up at the question about looking after babies and raised his own (wandless) hand, the teeniest hint of a smile on his face.
Mood was being boosted slightly by thoughts of Curtis, yep. Even though Toby really really missed him whenever he was here, he was at least able to focus on the happier parts of thinking about the baby nerd. That, at least, was an improvement, right?
As for the question... those who knew Toby well might have noticed the faintest of mischievous glints in his eye. He was thankful that others had mentioned love and hugs and the like, otherwise he would have felt obliged to go with that answer rather than his own idea. Toby kept his hand raised and offered his totally innocent suggestion.
"Babies need milk, it's like, super important and stuff. That's why all mammal babies can get milk straight from the mother. Cows make loads of milk, don't they? But baby humans don't benefit from cows milk for a long time, not 'til they're like a year old, and they can actually just have formula. So if you were to, say, bring home a cow to help provide milk for your baby brother, it probably wouldn't be very helpful, even though cows are super awesome." Toby lowered his hand again, oh-so-casually adding, "Though I've heard it's unwise to bring one into the kitchen to surprise your parents. They might not like it." He said it so deadpan, but it was pretty easy to do so. Toby barely remembered The Incident, after all. Still, he was snickering on the inside, and dared not look at Sophie. "But yeah. Babies drink milk."
That was the point he was making. But it would have been a crime not to make the other reference. Toby still found it inappropriately amusing, and he was clinging onto any funny thought he could, at the moment. If Ella was here, she would laugh. If Piers was here, he would not.
Really, though. Cows were awesome.

Class had officially started, well kind of, and Zhenya listened as they were told they would be caring for creatures today. Oh, well, Zhenya could always learn more about creatures. It was one area she wasn't... well, great in. The theory was interesting, but she was often challenged with a fit of nerves in the practice, so today would be a good challenge.
First they were speaking of infants. What was the most important thing? Well there were many things, and Zhenya listened to the answers her classmates provided. She agreed with all of them, but didn't really have anything new to provide, so she continued to listen. Until she realised there was one very serious thing they all needed, though not necessarily desired at infancy. She raised her hand and waited until she was called upon then said "Er... well, it's not necessarily something they desire when they're infants but all human infants need a name. Otherwise they might not have any sense of identity." So yeah, necessary for psychological development. Wasn't this a thing the nasty muggles did, shave prisoners hair and remove them of their name, then give them a numerical identity? Awful awful stuff. And even animals generally had names.

“Hello Miss Valentine.” It was nice when students were polite. “Doing quite well and yourself?”
Angel smiled at the Professor. "I'm okay, thank you." Angel didn't want to talk about things, it seemed that everything was going wrong at the minute but the Professor wouldn't want to sort thing out... now all she had to do was figure out what was happening but that could wait until later.
Angel then didn't raise her hand, she had always wanted a little sister but instead she was part of triplets which was fun and she enjoyed spending time with them but a little sister would be good.
Angel looked at the Professor and smiled as she raised her hand. "Professor, you need somewhere that you feel safe." Angel loved the fact that she was safe and sound at home.
Baby things...
They were studying baby things today. He didn't much mind baby animals, those were cool, but he found it slightly unnerving that the first question they were asked was about HUMAN babies.
Ew.
Zeke semi-raised his hand anyway. He'd seen plenty of them... and they were fine so long as they weren't crying or pooping or messing with their food. Babies were actually kinda gross.
The answers his peers provided sounded sufficient enough to him, so he didn't feel as if there was any way for him to contribute more to this conversation. OH WELL. Third year Gryffie just standing to attention here.

Leah smiled at the professor as the lesson began. She was eager for this class, and it seemed that her classmates were feeling the same. Practicing REAL care? Hmmm. Were they practicing FAKE care until now? This was confusing.
Babies? Leah shook her head at the first question. Although she loved little kids, she rarely had a chance to play with one, let alone care for them. The second question though, she could answer. "I agree with Marigold and Lux - infants need LOVE in order to be happy." And that worked for people and creatures of all age! Leah was almost sixteen and she wanted to be loved.

Benny had let his gaze wander around as he awaited class to begin. So it was how he caught sight of Adi after he greeted the professor, the Hufflepuff seemingly having arrived shortly after him. No surprise, seeing they both loved the class and Adi tended to always be one of the first to arrive at lessons. Before he turned away, the Gryffindor noticed the other boy fidgetting with something, registering the badge moments later.
Oh...that thing. The badge he remembered being told Henric had gotten from him.
Speaking of Henric, he heard the younger Puffer call out to him. Ben did his best to ignore it, especially as he noticed where Henric was. The sixth year instead descretely moving closer to Angel just as Thompson got them all started.
----------------------
The Gryffindor was listening as class was begun, but only half-heartedly. This was harder than he thought, tuning out the tension to enjoy the class they all loved. Letting out a soft sigh under his breath, Ben gathered his focus but didn't answer the first question put before them. What did he know really about babies anyway? Not like he was an expert, not even of dragons, and he was an only child.

Babies? They were talking about babies. Hmm well um alright then.
Hady shuffled about a little from foot to foot as she listened to everyone else give their answers. They all were pretty much saying the same things so there was no sense in repeating all that. She might not have had her own siblings but she did have a few cousins and friends back home with younger brothers and sisters. It might not be much but it was something. Plus if it counted for anything she'd raised all three of her pets from babies...not human babies of course but somewhat similar still.
After a moments thought of her pets Hady raised her hand, "Guidance. Babies as they grow will need guidance so they can learn right from wrong and how to do things in order to continue to grow." It might sound easy but really it wasn't. Everything needed someone to help teach it, understand it and care for it. Guidance was right up there with love and nutrition wasn't it?

Awkward. Things were intense between Adi and Benny still. Angel looked like something was brewing inside her too. Maybe she was upset with the besties fighting too. AJ didn't like to pick sides, but she was going to support her man. She stood next to him and glanced between the trio every so often. When the professor started to speak, she tried to give him her full attention.
Babies? Did this mean... Oh man. Please be a baby unicorn. Please be a baby unicorn. AJ had to try really hard to compose herself. Just imagine if there actually was a baby unicorn. More point deductions? Probably so.
Anywho, AJ didn't really have any experience when it came to babies. There weren't any younger siblings in her house. Thank goodness for that too because they could be very demanding and she just knew her mom would make her change diapers.
What to add? She sort of had experience with baby unicorns. That was the same thing, yes? The brunette raised her hand. "I know they don't like to be startled." So, in a way she had answered the question by adding what babies don't need.

So Tia definitely enjoyed magical creatures lessons, but then again who didn't like creatures? There was always something to learn about them and it was sort of a safe adventure when dealing with them.
At Professor Thompson's introduction though on caring for a human infant, Tia smiled thinking of her little cousins. She didn't really care for them; not without direct supervision at least. And being the youngest, unlike some of her classmates, she had no experience in caring for baby siblings. But she did know a couple things which were already mentioned. They required food, love, attention, guidance. But there was one more thing she knew about babies which hadn't been mentioned.
Raising her hand, "Clean, unsoiled diapers. Human infants are just like us, they poop, only they do so in their diapers and if not changed promptly can lead to health problems." Yes, she mentioned poop and she didn't even laugh out loud.

Jackson just sat at his seat silently until Professor Thompson started the class already. His chocolate brown eyes sometimes looked at Leah who was sitting at two rows in front of him. He hadn't seen her for a while, maybe because both of them were really busy preparing the OWLs or maybe she went home for Christmas break. Ugh, why he had to think about her? Focus on your study, Jackson! FOCUS!
Right, back to the lesson.
Babies? So, they're gonna learn how to take care of creatures' babies? Well, he found babies were cute though he didn't have younger siblings or nephew/niece (kinda surprising if Micky got married and have babies). And what did he know about babies? "Professor, babies love to cry. A lot. But it's because crying is like their only way to communicate and tell the parents that they need to be fed or diaper change or anything." The Korean boy spoke up as he raised his hand. "So, they need attention and lovable patient parents to handle them."

There goes Adi. Seriously, something's way off when his other half is missing. He did return the greeting though with a snappy salute and a, "Yo."
...
Should he go ask why he's not with his Lion buddy?
Oh good, a fellow Snake! Finally.
"Hey Caleb. How's it going?" His prefect must be very busy at the moment, because he's rarely spotted in their dorm or in the common room. Hmm. Must be that time of the year, eh? Prefect events and all?
Henric waved to Adi and the rest of the group he was with."Hey Adi! Hi Ethan,Hi everyone... oh Adi, you got that Manchester badge I see, me too! Brilliant mate! We should go to one of their matches one day,if you're still up for it!" he chuckled as he showed him his own Man U. badge. He looked around for Benny and wondered if they made up yet. He guessed...it would be someone to love them and care for them as best as they could. It would not always be perfect, but atleast they did not mean to abandon or leave them in the care of someone else's arm.
"Hallo Henric." Ethan gave the kid a 'sup nod and a grin, and turned to Adi to check out his...other badge. Uhuh. Isn't that a bit too much on his uniform? Not that he should care, just...unusual. It seems like Adi's trying to play a game here with Henric and Benny. Well, whatever it is...it was a bit unsettling.
But back to the Professor...
They were going to what?!
Ethan blinked at the news, and just continued to stare at the man before them. Well, the subject isn’t called Care for Magical Creatures for nothing, so it was expected that they should know...or at least get an experience with the actual practice of taking care of something that is breathing and alive. The question is...what kind of creature will they be taking care of? Hopefully, it isn’t something that can easily fly away.
AND NOPE, hopefully not REAL infants. Merlin, no.
With that in mind, Ethan raised his hand to share his answer. “Attention, professor. Lots of it.” He’d seen muggle mothers (and fathers) fuss over their children most of the time, so yeah, attention must be one of the answers.
And look at those girls go gaga the moment Professor Thompson mentioned the words human infant. Cute and all yeah, but...will they still gush happily about those wailing creatures if they got like, a whole lot the size of a Quidditch Team?
Don’t think so.

.....What?
The Gryffindor couldn't help but be a little disappointed at the opening vague question. It was even more vague than the normal vagueness. You know? 'Cause normally Zander could at least speculate as to where the lesson was headed. But this time... Human babies? Unless they were actually dealing with babies here, which Zander hoped they wouldn't be. 'Cause how lame would that be, right!? If he wanted to work with babies he could've just gone back home to a daycare or something. But he expected great things from Thompson. So what the heck was this about?
And if they really were dealing with babies... That'd mean that Professor Thompson would've had to get his hands on a baby for each of them and where the heck would he get that many babies? It was a little suspicious. Also, Zander agreed with the answers about food, so he didn't see a need to add on. He did, however, nod his head in agreement. What that one said, sir!

Cutty had never cared for a baby or even an animal in his whole life. Nonetheless his hand was about to go up, but he stopped it realizing this was Care of Magical Creatures and he might be asked to prove this in some way or another. So, he sat it out and waited for any clue as to what would be next. Oh, a question...about babies. Cutty knew a few things, or so he thought. He fancied that he'd make a fantastic father one day. Alas, this was all the excrement of jobberknolls. The older snake boy raised his hand, "Babies need to be thrown into the air and caught on occasion. So like...air...NO, hang on, play. Infants? Sophie smiled at the topic, thinking immediately of Curtis and Helena, the only two babies she had ever really liked. Babies in general were pretty gross and hard to care for, and she wasn't about that life. No, she could hardly even take care of the kitten Cutty had gotten for her - an actual real human was completely out of the question. She had careers to worry about and a love life to figure out and friends to care for. There would be enough on her plate.
But thinking about those two kids, Sophie began to think of things... much of which others already said, and when Tobes piped up beside her, Soph turned to watch him curiously.
As soon as he said the word "cows," she was gone. Attempts at stifling her laughter with her hand were useless, but she kept her hand there and ended up bringing her other hand up to cover her entire face as Tobes went on, talking about cows and milk and parents and--
There was no end. She continued to snort with laughter even after he stopped talking, peeking through her fingers to see Javy's response to the whole thing.
Good thing he wasn't Piers.

Leah smiled at the professor as the lesson began. She was eager for this class, and it seemed that her classmates were feeling the same. Practicing REAL care? Hmmm. Were they practicing FAKE care until now? This was confusing.

“Love does indeed conquer all for them.”

Eden was officially SET. HAPPY. EXCITED. IF terrible things happened EVERY day this week, Eden would still be happy because of THIS lesson, okay? You do need food to be healthy.
So yeah, there is that.
"Excellent answer. Food is essential for everyone."
As more people arrived Lux sent them smiles and waves. It was almost time for them to begin. Yay, Zhenya had joined her. "Hey!" she said while giving her friend a playful nudge before the lesson started.

"Very true.. Any form of positive interaction is vital for their developing brains."
There that sounded good. He sat back and waited for the Professor to move on.
He nodded approvingly, "Correct."
"A lot of work is involved, yes."
Almost.
"Yes.. Comfort and respect are both equally important." A small smile for this one.

How Javier managed to keep a straight face through this, was anyone's guess. "....Yes." Though his eyelids did lower slightly before returning to normal with his brows.
Interesting. An answer he wasn't expecting to hear, yet was true. "Good, Miss Burton. Take a point."
"Take a point, Miss Lynch." Another unexpected, yet truthful answer. Not that he didn't think either answers wouldn't be touched upon.
"Very true Miss Valentine."
And something everyone dealt with on a daily basis, "That is correct." Quite unfortunate to alot.
"Indeed they do." There were also theories and studies related to considering the importance on a baby's cry. But that was not going to happen today.
"Correct."
From the show of hands it seemed to be the general conscensious that those with that amount of experience would have no problems transferring that with creatures. Professor Thompson was quite approving of them all, even those without the experience. They were here to learn something after all.
“Right. Just as it is important to showcase that amount of love and care with newborn human infants, it is the same with all creatures.” Continuing, “Most magical creatures tend to not live very long without having a parental figure to supply the appropriate nutrients. So today we're going to stop that today with helping care for baby Griffins.” Cue the Professor finally turning to slide open the door of the horse-like pen where many little versions of them hawked and squawked around. Their front to the top of their head resembling an eagle with the back to the lower end and tail of a lion.
"Gather around here," After gesturing everyone to follow him inside they could see quite a number of them roaming around the woodchip flooring inside. "They are orphaned, but luckily old enough to not be as reliable for Griffin milk, so they will survive in captivity." So what did this mean? "Before we feed them, I'd like you all to get to picking one or even better, letting one choose you as you sit." Which the Professor then chose to sit down. "They'll try to nip or claw you when they show an interest, but not to worry, they aren't sharp enough to cause any sort of damage just yet."
----
OOC: Just as Professor Thompson said, either choose one or let them come to you while you sit. Feel free to name them as this should only take two labeled posts minimum. Lesson will continue on from here tomorrow. ^_^

She got a point? That made Zhenya smile, glad her answer was welcomed. Zhenya listened to the rest of the suggestions, nodding as they spoke, because infants, and creatures, needed all of those things. They really were like babies, which is probably why the muggles in the apartment block always babied their cats. Zhenya treated her cat like an adult, because it was so old, but perhaps if she had a kitten she would treat it like a baby. Her cat got grumpy if Zhenya tried to care too much. It just wanted to be left alone most of the time.
But today, they wouldn't be caring for cats, they would be caring for baby Griffins. Aww. They were kind of cute, though Zhenya still didn't particularly want to go close to them. Zhenya gathered closer to listen to further instructions, walking closer to the door and looking at the Griffins. She didn't want to go and grab one, what if it didn't like her? The poor things were orphaned, she didn't want to make them feel like she was removing them from friends and possibly siblings. So, Zhenya followed Professor Thompson's lead and sat down. They were moving around, and Zhenya looked at one close to her, who, she though, looked up at her.

Beverly had absolutely no experience with infants. The first thought that popped into her head when she thought of them was: annoying. They cried, soiled themselves and repeated the process. It was the lack of exposure to infants, she thought, it was also for other reasons that caused her forehead to wrinkle.
Said forehead wrinkle disappeared as professor Thompson explained what they were going to be doing. Baby Griffins. They were going to work with ACTUAL baby Griffins. Baby creatures she could do, human babies...pass those to someone else.
Gathering what the professor was saying, Beverly mimicked what he did, sitting down with her legs crossed. They were just so adorable Beverly could pick them up and snuggle them for ages. Thing was, she didn't snuggle in public. And she was sure that wasn't what Thompson wanted them to do.
Instead, she sat there and watched the baby Griffins, occasionally petting the ones that got near. She was letting them choose her, so far it seemed they were playing around.

Adi grinned at Henric. "I always wear it along with this badge, Henny.'' He pointed to his Prefect one. And this was an important time not to forget to wear it, yes? His eyes flashed in the direction of his ex bestie, a smirk on his lips. "We should! If you aren't off chasing dragons.'' He did know all about Henric's plans for his future.
....................
Eeeeep! Griffins! How positively AWESOMEEE! Momentarily forgetting about his MU badge, Adi leaned forward in anticipation to see the little creatures. Just lookit them! So cute that they melted the Puffer's heart. Hehe. HE WANTED ONE FOR KEEPS! :x3: Then they wouldn't be orphans no more.
Okay, all that aside, they had to get to work. Adi yanked Henric down beside him, also tugging on AJ's hand. She join them on the ground, too, yes? He would be patiently waiting for a griffin! YUP! Did they have to sit still, anyway? Adi thought they should. It wouldn't be nice to be shifting around and then scaring off the poor things. But everyone know how difficult it was for hyper persons to sit still.
Come on, Griffin!

Awwww the baby griffins were so cute. He had experience working with baby animals back on his farm. He would have to learn to take care of them since his grandmother had no time since she was doing other stuff. He grinned and knew he wasn't going to go right to the cage. Oh no no that would scare them. He was going to let one of them come to him. He began like the others to observe them. He observed how the babies were behaving. They were behaving like creatures would. The griffins were playing around and tackling each other like siblings. He grinned at the cuteness.
As he was watching, one baby griffin caught his eye. It was staring at him and tilted his head in curiousity. Kace wondered if the griffin was going to come to him. He smiled warmly to let the griffin know he meant no harm. He waited patiently to see what the baby griffin would do.

OMG, they were going to be working with baby griffins!!
HER HEART WAS MELTING BECAUSE BABY ANIMALS.
It was hard to resist the temptation to squeal, but somehow Lux managed. They were just so cute. She loved babies!! Listening to Professor Thompson explain what they were supposed to do she couldn't wait to start. They could nip and claw at her all they wanted, she wouldn't care in the slightest.
Either she could choose a griffin, or she could let one choose her. Lux preferred the latter option. Getting comfy on the ground, she watched them to see if any would venture over.
They were sooooo adorable.

HOLY MACARONI WITH EXTRA CHEESE. If there was one thing in the entire universe that was better than human babies it was ANIMAL BABIES. Norah sat cross legged on the floor and inched herself closer to the opening of the pen Professor Thompson had just revealed. Look. How. ADORABLE. She pressed her hands to her cheeks as she watched the little griffin cutie pies moving around in their little cutie pie way. And their little TAILS too! Would it be okay if she fainted? She was gonna faint. No big deal, just KNOCKED OUT by all the CUTE. Okay, maybe not 'cause no griffin was going to like her if she was boring and knocked out and being liked by a baby griffin had quickly made it's way to the top if her 'Stuff That Needs to Happen Right Now Or Else' list.
The fourth year scooted a little closer to the griffins and held a hand out. "Heeeere babies." She let out a squeal as one of the animals gave a squawk. She needed one. And soon. Before she exploded would be preferable.

Oh...Benny didn't he hear him calling his name? Henric frowned...weird...maybe he really didn't hear him...they were standing quite far away from each other...so..he guessed he would be talking to him later.Hmm...well...Henric didn't want to ponder over the thought anymore, time to get back to the lesson at hand. Brilliant! Baby griffins! WOOTS! Oh Adi would love this one, alright! If only it they were baby dragons instead. But baby gryffins were extraordinary too! He loved both.
His smile widened as he watched the baby griffins came out from their pen,oh merlin...why were they so adorable! He wanted to pick them all up and hug them as much as he could. But he knew he shouldn't do that or it would scare them away. Before he could assess on how to actually come up with a plan to approach one, he was pulled down by Adi none too gently, his knees hitting the ground hard.
"Oww...man..give a warning next time mate,"he groaned, rubbing his knees. Wait a minute....the baby griffins were coming closer to them..oh my oh my...Henric quickly got up into a crawling position and hold out his hand.
"Steady...steady...we don't want to scare them off..."he whispered to them both.

GRIIIIIFFINS! That was SO cool that Eden bounced quite a bit at the prospect. She was pouring over all of the info in her head about griffins...it wasn't her forte but...she was still pretty knowledgable about them. Mhmm. The way to attract one..well, you didn't just WALTZ up to a griffin and expect a good response, but Eden thought baby ones might be easier to deal with.
Ugh,
BABY GRIFFINS.
Eden went into the pen and tried to poke around...figure out a good spot to sit to attract one...hmm. She picked a spot near the far end of the pen, against the surrounding fence, and plopped down, just quietly watching and waiting for one to come near.
A few of them squawked by, but Eden didn't move. She was waiting for one to come REALLY close--and finally, one did--and Eden smiled and geeeeently, very gently, raised her hand let the baby sniff her or something...but as soon as she did, it stepped back in alarm.
Oh.
Eden sighed and pulled her hand back in...COME HERE WITTLE BABY!!

Cutty followed Thompson and the rest inside the stables and observed all of the orphaned bodies. How were they orphaned? Were they being hunted down for potions ingredients? Or was it a habitat thing? He needed to go and see the Professor about his owl anyway. She was acting funny.
Let one chose you.
Cutty knew how this would go, so he casually passed a little orphaned boy griffin and lifted him, tucking him into his body as the tiny thing nipped at him all the way to their seat.

They're gonna work with babies.
Griffin babies to be exact.
He heard some of the students were squealing and admiring how cute they were. Yeah, those griffin babies were cute but he didn't need to say it out loud. Hehehe. As Professor Thompson said, he joined with the other students gathering around the baby griffins and chose one? Hmm... Okay. The Korean guy looked at them before he decided to choose one of them. His chocolate brown eyes looked at one baby griffin that wasn't far from him. "hey there, buddy." He petted the baby's head. "Professor, how could we know if it's a male or female baby griffin?" He asked curiously.

Marsha’s had flew into the air. She had plenty of experience with children. Although she had been the only niece/grandchild for a long time in her family, her oldest aunts and uncles had started having children and she had helped to look after them… and now, now she had a gorgeous sibling. ”Professor, I have a baby sister called Alis, she turned one just before I came to Hogwarts.” Huge smiles. ”She needs sleep, somewhere warm and comfortable and where she knows she will be safe.” Because without sleep and rest, babies were loud and grumpy and meant that YOU didn’t get sleep due to them being over-tired. YES, sleep please.
From the show of hands it seemed to be the general conscensious that those with that amount of experience would have no problems transferring that with creatures. Professor Thompson was quite approving of them all, even those without the experience. They were here to learn something after all.
“Right. Marsha was excited. She wanted to know what was behind the door. Surely, from this conversation it was a baby creature of some form - but … what that was? She had no idea. AND SHE DIDN’T CARE! ‘Cause it was an animal, something and somethings were always cute. Right? Right. Right. Wheeee. Come on Professor, let me seeeeeee.
With a grin, she bounced slightly on the balls of her feet, the anticipation was kiiiillllliiiiinnnnggggggg her! She just wanted to know who they would be helping today. Rusty, Adi, Cutty and more of her friends could verify her love for animals and that Care of Magical Creatures was one of her favourite things, ever.
And then he moved and opened the door.
Marsha gasped. And likely squeed a little, though as her hands cupped her face she couldn’t really hear anything other than her heart racing in her chest. THEY WERE SO CUTE. However, her heart broke as her hearing came back to Professor Thomson saying that they were orphans. No! No-one should ever be an orphan and left without someone to love them. Her Dad and his siblings were all orphans brought together by her Grandad and Grandpa, who to this day still fostered children even though they hadn’t adopted anyone since Uncle Connell. Her heart broke as she stood in the doorway. Nope, this wasn’t happening; her dad and her Grandpa had taught her to love. So that was going to happen.
Moving into the enclosure, she sat looking around them wondering if she would be told off for trying to hug them ALL… could she look after them all? IF they were orphans? Making a decision to talk to the Professor after class, she set that thought aside as she simply sat there waiting. She would give them a few minutes before she took action.

The little orphan boy was still nipping when Cutty set him down in front of him. And when he wasn't nipping, his beak was well and truly open in preparation for nipping.
"Suusss. Calm down, lad. Calm down." Cutty had his hands up and out before they came resting on the shoulders of the still tiny beast. Nip! Nipnip'nippy!
Gently, Cutty began to stroke the baby beast, letting his large hand glide over the back between the wings. The orphan boy looked straight on but held still as if growing used to the handling. When he felt it was smart to do so, Cutty used one of his fingers to scratch at the animals neck. His hand was full on scratching and massaging the underside of the neck when he decided to name the creature Phlegon.

Zhenya could see that a lot of the students were sitting down, too, and the baby griffins were sort of coming towards them. Aww, well she did have to admit they were cute. Actually, they were very cute. Aww. The one that Zhenya thought had looked at her started walking towards her. Well, not walking... Maybe walking... well, making its way slowly towards her. Zhenya smiled at it, and held out her hand. Once it had hobbled towards her enough, it started to sniff at her hand, then it opened its mouth and...
"No," Zhenya said to it firmly, pulling her hand away. The gryffin looked up at her, its head tilting to the side. What? She didn't want it to eat her finger off, no matter what Professor Thompson said. But Zhenya couldn't be mad at the little thing. It must have sensed everything was okay, because it reached a hand out towards her and started to swat her. This made Zhenya laugh, and she reached towards it with her hand, gently gently stroking its outstretched paw/hand. It ran its hand down her arm, enough so that she felt its claws, but not enough to leave a mark. She saw its claws but they didn't appear very long. In fact, there were only faint pink lines down her arm, but no skin had been broken, so it was all playful, and not painful. "What are we going to call you?" she asked, moving her hand around so that the griffin could follow it with its eyes and practice its swatting.
What would she name it? She assumed it didn't have a name. But was it a male or female? Zhenya didn't know. What was a good unisex name she could use? Zhenya had a thought whilst watching the griffin clawing at her arm playfully. She smiled and decided to go with "Vaska, that will be your name," she said to the griffin, to Vaska. Vaska paused a moment to look up at her, then continued to claw at her arm.

Griffins! They would be working with baby griffin orphans! Janelle could barely contain her excitement. She would have to tone it down or the creatures would be afraid to approach her. She took a few deep breaths to calm herself down. When the Professor opened the pen, Janelle's face lit up with a smile. She would never get used to seeing magical animals. They were so.........unusual, but unbelievably cool.
Janelle followed Professor Thompson inside of the pen and looked around. There were baby griffins everywhere. She was going to make a new friend today, it seemed. Walking over to an area that wasn't crowded with students, she sat down. Janelle tried to make herself look as relaxed and friendly as possible. "Come on little griffin babies. Come to your temporary mama.", she thought to herself.
As usual, patience was important. Janelle was still working on the patience thing. It was always a challenge for her because she was ready to jump right into the task. This time she sat perfectly still (well, as still as she could manage) with a smile plastered on her face. Any time now, one would come.........she hoped.

Woopsie In his enthusiasm he had yanked Henric a little too hard down to the ground. "Sorry, buddy,'' he whispered, positive Benny was seeing all of this. Good! Let him! He thought he was being replaced, wasn't he? Well, he really was doing so right now! Anyway, back to the task at hand. He grinned as his Puff mate got into a crawling position. "Watch out that none of them take a nip out of your butt.'' LOL!
OOOOOH!
Look, look, LOOK! A baby Griffie was coming to him! Time to stay still as possible! With his bespectacled, excited eyes, the Huffie watched as the Griffin stood before him, surveying him back. Adi just smiled. "Come on, baby griff.'' The baby continued to stare at him for about a minute or so then it came closer. Adi let it, never once breaking the eye contact until the baby Griff was totally behind him. Uh oh... it was going to bite Henric's butt! :x3:
Adi turned his head slightly, catching sight of the Griff but not before it bit on his shoulder. "Owowowow!'' he muttered wincing, in pain. GOSH! Did babies like biting his shoulder?! But hey! The main thing was he had a griff! The Puffer reached around to pat the baby's head. "Heya!'' Pat!Pat!Pat! "Thanks for the shoulder bite. I'm sure I'll have a lovely little mark there later on.'' Hehe. "I think I shall call you Henry.'' Fitting, yes? A biter's name for a biter. Mhmm.

Thankfully they were moving on from human babies to talk of creature ones. Those were more Ben's interest...especially when Thompson revealed that they would be he=ping take care of baby Griffins. That got his attention. With a move of yhe older man and creature love, he could see them all behind them in pen he had been guarding and hiding. Griffins might be one of his other fav creatures besides dragons, given he always associated them with his house alongside their lion cousins.
Ben moved to obey the professor following him inside albeit maybe a little slower than normal excided Benny. He still didn't have anyone to work with if needed. Listing to what they would be doing and how to begin, the Gryffindor opted for the second option letting one of the creatures choose him. Which seemed the way Adi. Henric and AJ were going to handle things too as absently noticed them when they all moved.
Sigh.
Separating from the group a bit once they were told to get their Griff, he plopped down on the ground. "Here Griffin..." Ben said quietly, loosing some of the excitement within himself, his shoulders falling in defeat. It just didn't seem like the same class without him.
Not that it seemed to bother Adi much...if at all.

Patience wearing just a tad bit thin, Janelle tried to look what in her mind was appealing to the griffins. At last she was rewarded as a little baby griffin cautiously made its way toward her. Careful not to frighten him, she spoke in a soft voice as he approached her. "Hi little griffin. It's OK. I won't hurt you." The griffin took slow steps and got closer and closer to Janelle. She stupidly put out her hand and the animal began to peck at it. Fortunately, it did not hurt......too much.
Not sure if she was supposed to or not, Janelle gave the griffin's head a little pat. She thought that she could comfort him and avoid his nipping all at the same time. "You are a fine griffin. You need a name though. Let me think....." Janelle looked at her new friend for a moment waiting for some inspiration. "Hmmmm. What should I call you? I think you look like a.......Buddy. Yes, that's it. Buddy. Do you like that?" Buddy proceeded to peck Janelle on the leg. "I'll take that as a yes", she said to her Buddy. "You know, you don't have to bite me. I'm your friend now." He was probably hungry. That's what it was. "I'm going to get to feed you soon so you have to be patient." Janelle hoped that she could keep Buddy entertained until it was feeding time.

See? Babies didn't like to be startled! Professor Thompson had confirmed it. AJ mainly gave that answer because she knew that he would approve and think she was being all mature like when in came to animals. Truthfully, she wasn't sure if she would be able to contain herself in a unicorn came waltzing in right about now. AJ was only fourteen, okay? Jeeze.
Baby griffins!!! Be calm, AJ. But, as Thompson showcased them, AJ's eyes lit up and it was really hard to not flail about in excitement. Really hard, man. Like, trying to get advanced spells to work for her kind of hard. The fourth year was biting down so hard on her lip that she could taste metal. Must contain all of the emotions. "They are so cute," she managed to get out before Adi was pulling both her and Henric down.
Now seated beside the two of them, she leaned closer to the boys. "I want one of these too." Could they have one of everything? Henic was trying to keep them calm, but he obviously didn't know AJ very well. "I dunno if I can man... I just don't know..." It was an internal struggle and her legs were bouncing up and down in anticipation. Come on baby griffies.... come to mama!

His head had fallen at one point, leaving the older lion into an almost meditative position with his legs crossed as he sat on the ground. In truth it was Ben trying to keep control of his emotions...to attempt to push aside the feeling of being left out or maybe tossed out of his old position at Adi's side. Or something like that. Whatever the case, he was sitting alone, the world half-tuned out as he struggled to keep from looking weak, especially as a tear threatened from his one eye.
Ben didn't notice the first nudge sent his way from behind. Or the nip or two at the fabric at his robes. "Hey..." he let out as the second nudge actually moved him, the sixth year moving to turn around almost expecting his ex-bestie to be there causing trouble again like he had in History of Magic. But instead he came face to face with a baby Griffin who was clearly watching him. Its head tilted to the side in curiousity when it seemed to register that he had finally noticed his creature companion trying to get his attention.
"Um...hello" he made out once he found his voice. Ben tentatively reached out a hand to try and touch him. It took a few tries as the Griffin also seemed unsure of what he was doing, but eventually skin touched feather and the lion rubbed gently like he would a hippogriff. "Adi..." he said absently at the thought of hippogriffs, the boy shaking his head to free the thought but it did give him an idea.
Could he replace his friend?
"You need a name..." Benny mused as he rubbed. "How about Hiccup?" The creature seeming to ruffle his feathers in approval of his actions at least if not the name.

It hadn’t taken long, at all, in fact for one of the Griffins to come her. Marsha smiled down at it, wondering if it would venture close enough to nip and bite at her hands or knees (those were the closest to the ground after all). Waiting… Watching… Be still.
With a big grin on her face, she winced slightly as the baby Griffin nipped at her fingers. She kept her hand still so that the Griffin could get used to her and then slowly turned her hand over so that the back of her hand was resting on the ground. She watched the baby sniffing and renipping at the newly shown skin - and it was all worth at as the baby took a few more steps towards her hand and nudged the top of her hand, beside her wrist.
Smiling softly, she moved her hand softly to scoop it up, moving her hand even more slowly to rest in her lap. Her second hand then got introduced to the Griffin, letting it be nipped by the animal before she slowly ran her fingers over the Griffin’s head. The smile was SO wide on her face as she looked down at the little thing. ”Hello, Cadfael… Welcome home. We will look after you.” She said softly, giving the baby Griffin attention until the Professor spoke to them again.

Toby remained completely deadpan. Of course he knew Soph was next to him, snorting in laughter at the answer he'd given. He very pointedly did not look at her, because he KNEW that the second he did, it would be game over and he'd start cracking up too. Instead, he stood there, casually checking out his nails (which were attrociously chewed up and bitten down as far as they could go, by the way) like nothing had happened. At Thompson's response, he simply smiled ever so innocently at him, then gave Soph a gentle nudge with his elbow once he'd moved along. Just to acknowledge the hilarity with her.
Anyway, yes, moving on, and Toby was absolutely certain to completely ignore that part of what Thompson was saying about 'tend to not live very long'. As soon as the words reached his ears he very aggressively hummed to himself in order to drown that part out, hardly realising he was doing it.
Aside from that little hiccough, the excitement was starting to build a little bit because obviously they were gonna be able to work with some baby creatures. Baby GRIFFINS. Hey, that was COOL. The core of Toby's wand was actually Griffin claw, which sprang to mind at that very moment. He followed the professor with the rest of the class and craned his head to try and get a look at the babies, attempting all the while to keep listening to Professor Thompson. Though really, it was difficult, 'cause BABIES.
When the word 'orphaned' was mentioned, Toby subconsciously hummed to himself again, a small frown on his face. He didn't think it was necessary to talk about that stuff. Too negative. Too awful. Time to just focus on the happy stuff, which was baby Griffins. No sad things. Not allowed. Not today.
Luckily enough, they weren't dwelling on that. At the prompting from Thompson, Toby moved further inside and found himself a space on the floor to sit, eyeing the Griffins eagerly and wishing he could cuddle them ALL. Would that be allowed? ... Maybe he'd come back later to do so anyway.

Leah listened to other answers and Professor Thompson's responses, nodding along. Food, security, all those things were important for infants. She remembered when she first met her Kneazle Filomena. She wasn't exactly a newborn, but was tiny nonetheless. Filomena needed tons of love and care back then.
The mention of baby Griffins brought her back to Earth. Her dark brown eyes widened as she looked at the eagle-lion like creatures. They were BEAUTIFUL and OH SO CUTE. Why were they dealing with cute animals in every single lesson? Bob the box turtle was enough cuteness for Leah. She approached the pen, eager to get closer to the Griffins. Awww, they were orphaned. That was sad. Having proper parents must mean the world to babies.
Now, to partner up with a baby Griffin. Leah decided to let one choose her, because she liked every single one of them but only a couple would like her. LOGIC. So she plopped down on the ground and waited to be chosen.
... It would be really sad if she was ignored like this forever.

Toby already preferred this method already. Letting the baby Griffin come to him, making him feel chosen AND like he wasn't forcing the creature to be with him if it didn't want to.
He felt as though even sitting up made him tower the babies too much, even if it was just a little bit. Preferring to let the Griffins feel super comfortable and everything, Toby went the whole hog and lie down on the ground, right where he'd sat. Just chilling, just waiting.
It took a surprisingly short time before he saw it. A cute little Griffin face, though from Toby's angle it just looked like a little eagle, suddenly appeared over him, looking down and cocking its head curiously at him. Toby was just about to raise his hand to see if it wanted to nip at his fingers, when its itty bitter clawed foot also made an appearance, going straight for his face. Toby reflexively squeezed his eyes shut, but the Griffin clawing at his face didn't actually hurt at all, and it kept clear of his eyes anyway. He opened them again and smiled.
"Hi," Toby said, now actually bringing his hand up to the baby creature, who immediately nipped at his fingers. It didn't really hurt at all. "I'm Toby. And you're..." One name had immediately sprung to mind, and Toby always decided to go with the first name he thought of. "Griffin. Hi Griffin."
Griffin the Griffin. Sounded perfect to him.
Very carefully, so as not to worry the baby, Toby sat himself back up again. He needed have worried, because already Griffin was attempting to climb up over him, quite comfortable. Toby couldn't help but grin, and soon he was sat cross-legged again, with Griffin trying to climb all up over his legs, losing balance, and toppling over, right into his lap. It didn't seem to mind, and merely sat there with him, looking out at everyone else with Toby.
He had been chosen.

Eden stayed still, smiling a little as she watched the little griffin near her. He wasn't moving away, but he was still being cautious...and Eden wanted him to get closer so she could get acquainted.
He was adorable. Eden wanted to squish him. She wouldn't, but she REALLY wanted to.
The little guy hopped a little closer, nipping at her skirt's edges before stepping closer, looking at her SO curiously. Eden held out her hand, not petting him, and let him lick and nip at her as he saw fit. She didn't want to scared him away, so this was ALL on his own pace.
"...Do you like the name Hector?" she asked softly, and the griffin looked up at her with WIDE eyes. "Okay...Hector..."
HEHEHE. HIS NAME WAS OFFICIALLY HECTOR.

Lucky that the baby griffin that he had patted was quite friendly. Jackson continued patting its head and smiled. "What should I call ya?" The Korean boy asked. He was still not sure if this baby griffin was a male or female. For Merlin's sake, they all looked same!Earlier he was calling it buddy but well, it seemed like buddy wasn't really suited this griffin. So... buddy... friends... Chingu...
CHINGU!
"Ya, I'm gonna call you Chingu then." He said. It means friend in Korean and so... he hoped that they could be friends. Hehehe. Chingu the baby griffin. Not that bad. It didn't matter if his baby griffin was female or male because he called his baby griffin as friends. As he patting Chingu's head, it sniffed his hand and almost bit it but lucky that Jackson had a good reflex. "You hungry, right?" He asked. "We're gonna feed you with milk later, so be patient Chingu."

Henric rolled his eyes,"Thanks mate,I'm sure my behind will be grateful to your gracious warning...now shhh...they're coming to us,look..."he whispered back to Adi. AJ too seemed to look like she was trying her best to contain her excitement. He chuckled, these two were really something, no wonder they were voted one of the best couples in school. Why did he feel like a third wheeler in this? He hoped not.Henric felt a little jelly too, he wondered if he could have a relationship like them one day.But...now wasn't the time to think about that, back to the adorable GRIFFINS...yeah.
Henric reached out slowly but carefully towards the baby hippogriff, calling out softly,"Hey there little one...don't worry...you're safe...you're safe with me...we're not going to harm you...that's it..its okay..." He watched intently as the young griffin lifted its head to smell his outreached hand. He almost touched its head but he lost balance from reaching over too much and fell face flat on the ground. The young griffin came closer and pecked its beak on the back of his head several times, curious if the human boy was still alive."Ow..ow ow...hey...I'm finee,"I'm up..I'm up...Henric whined, shielding his head from further pecking. He looked up to see two beady eyes staring straight back at him.Wow...Henric had never been this close to a Hippogriff before. It was amazing!
"Hello....buddy!"he smiled, touching its feathers gently for the first time.Oh he was going to love this one...noway he was going to lose sight of him.

It was so cute how the baby Griffins were playing with each other. Lux wished that she could have one as a pet but knew that it wouldn't work out. Maybe she could ask Bay for a teacup pig instead because she really wanted one. They were so adorable.
Eventually one of the Griffins started making its way slowly towards her before stopping. It seemed a little hesitant to come over but Lux so wanted it to. She wasn't a threat and just wanted to snuggle the little creature. Patiently she remained as still as possible and waited to see if he would move even closer to her. "It's okay, I won't hurt you."
Her little boy Griffin needed a name! Was it even a boy? Erm, she had no idea.

Angel listened to the Professor and then she looked around this was going to be interesting and she just hoped that a baby Griffin would pick her because it would be weird if she was hanging around waiting for something that would never happen, actually if that happened she'd go and hide behind either her best friend or boyfriend depends on who was closest.
Angel decided to sit down and see what was going on with the baby griffins, she watched as they all seemed interested in other things at the minute, which was okay.
Angel sat there and waited, she wasn't going to scare the Griffins so they didn't come to here, she hoped not but she would have to wait and see, she watched them as they did other stuff. This was so interesting and she was enjoying herself for now.

Griffins weren't proper winged-horses, but they were mighty creatures that had wings and definitely could take someone on their backs as they flew, so that was good enough.
Agatha was determined to befriend one of those baby ones and maybe even keep it as a pet. If professor Thompson didn't let them keep the griffins later, she would have to use the fact she had been able to handle one when convincing her mother and uncle to get her one.
Anyhow, the Slytherin was willing to wait for not very long, though until one of the baby griffins came her way and 'chose' her. Whatever that actually meant. Did those tiny creatures even know anything? Weren't they supposed to be mother/father figures to them? That meant they all knew better than these baby griffins.
Cutty himself had chosen his own baby griffin, see? Maybe that was the way to go.

Norah made kissy noises and held a hand out from on the floor of barnyard. Heeeere little griffin. The noises worked on cats so it'd probably work on these too, right? They were half cat. Or half lion. Same thing. Wiggling her fingers, she increased the volume of her kissy noises until her lips were probably about to fall off or something. If lips could do that. She wasn't really an expert, okay? That'd be a weird thing to be an expert on anyways.
She saw a griffin that seemed to be headed in her direction, or in a direction she hoped was her direction, and inched even closer to it. "Hi little guy," she whispered. The griffin got even closer and nipped the fingers was holding out. Heheheh that TICKLED. Reaching both hands forward, Norah gave the baby animal some pats on the head and then on the little lion body 'cause look at that fur! It was so fluffy she was gonna DIE. Could she keep it?

Both Henric and Adi had griffins come up to them, and she had nothing. Didn't they know how much of a fun girl she was? She was even sitting down like a good girl. How much longer she could keep her cool was anybody's guess. These griffins had about .5 seconds to name her their mama before she went and picked one up and made the decision for them. AJ was not a patient person to say the least. She wanted her own baby griffin.
"Why aren't they choosing me?" He soft leg jangling was now rough. Adi and Henric were getting griffin nibbles and she was left out in the cold. She sighed deeply and looked around at the other students with their griffins. Her eyes spotted Benny and a pang shot straight to her heart. "When are you guys going to get over yourselves?" she asked rather blantaly.
Luckily for Adi she didn't have time to stare him down long because she felt a nibble on her leg. EEEEEPPPPPP. She had a griffin. Play it cool, Valentine. The griffin was the lucky one here. Her robes were in his mouth and all AJ could do was look at him lovingly. "Aren't you just the cutest little thing ever?" She was beamy. As slow as she could, she reached her arm out to him and gave him a pat on the head. "I shall call you Brutus and you shall be my Brutus." It was a boy right? Bruta if it just so happened to be a girl. It was settled.

Still trying her best to suppress her laughter, Sophie buried her face against Tobes' shoulder after he nudged her until she composed herself and stood tall once more, her lips pressed firmly in a straight line to keep from smiling again. Yeah, she was fine. Totally fine. No laughing, no smiling, everything was good.
...Hehhehehehee.
Soft giggles still bubbled in her throat as Javy went on to explain what they were doing, and they finally died down when he mentioned BABY GRIFFINS. No waaaay! That was way cute, and Soph stood on her tippy-toes and leaned forward a bit to get a better look at them. They were adorableeeee and she WANTED ONE.
When Thompson led them in and sat down, Sophie did, too, right near Tobes, and eyed all the Griffins excitedly. WHICH ONE WOULD CHOOSE HER? She made grabby hands in their general direction, encouraging the little baby griffins to come see her.

It didn't take long for Beverly to be jumped on by the baby Griffins. She pegged it to her natural ability to interact with animals.
One of the babies hopped onto her lap and bounced back down, circling her, then bumping her on the back. "Oomph! What was that fooor?" she cooed, reaching behind to tickle the Griffin. It squawked cheerfully, tumbling back to her front and bouncing into her lap.
"Hi, want to be my partner?" The baby Griffin tilted its head, gazing up at her with it's big baby Griffin eyes. Her cold heart was melting. "I'll take this as a yes."

Oh. So they weren't dealing with actual babies here. Well, Zander had to admit that he was quite relieved about that. Babies weren't really his specialty. Actually, no he probably wasn't bad with babies... He just hadn't dealt with any before so he wasn't actually sure. Come to think of it, babies couldn't be any different than firsties, right? And he seemed to get along with them pretty well.
Anyways, baby Griffins. Yeah, Zander could handle that.
He watched as Thompson demonstrated, finding it kind of funny when he sat down and acted all gentle. It was quite a sight. 'Cause Javy was real big and terrifying looking, but the guy had a soft side apparently. Still weird to think that Zander had been over to his house before. They had a baby there too. Zander did remember that much.
Anyways, it was their turns now so the Gryffindor didn't waste another second. He inched his way towards the pens, looking around to see one that looked friendly enough. Actually, maybe it'd be better if it was the one who chose him, yeah? Loyalty and all.

Angel was looking at a couple of them when she suddenly noticed another one coming near her, she waited for a few moments to see what it would do when it suddenly starting doing what the Professor had told her they would do.

Her arms still extended and her fingers wiggling in encouragement for a griffin to choose her, Sophie watched with eager eyes as the griffin babies chose one student after another - but not her. There were only a few left, ones that were aimlessly wandering, and Sophie waited, her arms still open and hoping that one would look her way and see how cute she was and how eager she was to tend to one of them...
...And then one's little eyes were upon her, and the little thing came scampering her way. SHE HAD BEEN CHOSEN. IT WAS COMING RIGHT TO HER.
Just at that moment, she heard Tobes name his griffin "Griffin," and she snorted lightly to herself. Griffin the griffin. Very clever, Tobias.
What a nerd.
When the griffin reached her arms, Sophie pet it softly, letting it softly nip at her free hand and not minding one bit - no, it didn't really hurt, and she followed suit of Tobes and gently picked up the griffin and pulled it into her lap. "Hi," she murmured and continued to stroke it lightly, still letting it nibble at her other hand - whatever would keep it happy, right? All that mattered was that one CHOSE her and she was ALL SET.

The Gryffindor inched his way even cloooooser before sitting down in an isolated patch. Come to Zaaaaander little Griffins. Man, they were all going the exact OPPOSITE way that he needed 'em to. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that Zander was staring with bright eyes and a huge smile? Was that creeping them out?
He'd tone it down. Sorry, Griffins.

Hady hadn't been expecting to get a point for her answer but it was gladly accepted and kept the young girl motivated to continue giving answers. However no answers were needed right now as it was time to see what they'd be working with. As Professor Thomson began talking and explaining what they were to do she shuffled from foot to foot a bit more then ready to get started.
Griffins! They were going to be caring for baby griffins!
When they were told to have a seat and allow the griffins a chance to choose them instead of them being the ones to pick a griffin she did as told. Sitting herself down on the ground she laid her hands down on her lap. Now all she needed to do was be quiet and wait.
A little baby griffin would choose her soon enough...or at least she hoped so.

So they were talking about babies. Well over the past two or three years Cinna had been around her share of the little things both human and animal. So this lesson should be a piece of cake right? espeically if they were working with babies, animal babies. Which in her opinion easier to deal with. No talking back, or climbing all over her or running into her room uninvited. Chase. Hmmm. Anyway.
From hearing the lesson so far she could gather that they were working with some sort of baby creature. But what animal. Craning her neck to try to see as the Professor slid open the door. She moved into the inside. She looked around and spotted griffins. Griffins?
Griffins.
The they were working with baby griffins. How cute, right? Orphaned. Poor babies. She wanted them all now. SO they were going to feed them, yeah? Fun. She gently flopped down on the woodchips with a little group of the wittle griffins. Any of them wanted to pick her because she would just take all of them. At least she wouldn't have to worry about them clawing her arms up. She could just snuggle them all.

Ilia had been silent, in the back, in the corner for this class. It was her favorite class and too much was on her mind. She didn't want to interact with the other students right now, even Henric she wasn't sure because all her emotions came spilling out around him. Baby humans.....she had no experience and nothing to say so she just listened. She was an only child and the youngest of her cousins so she was honestly nervous around baby humans because she really knew nothing about them.
Baby griffins now that was a baby of a different kind.....as soon as the professor mentioned baby creatures she had perked up. She sat quietly away from the rest and patiently waited for a baby to come to her. They were all little orphans, that was so desperately sad. She wanted to mother them all, sweet little things. This was why she wanted to be a vet and a creature rescuer.

As the puff was waiting for the Griffin to come near him, the little guy seemed to be scared of all the students. He seemed to be curious what was going on. The baby was twitching every few seconds. He wanted to comfort him but he wanted the Griffin to come on his own terms. He still held out his hand for the little guy to come. He grinned and encouraged him, "Come on little fella..." he said sweetly. The griffin looked at him and then proceeded to move forward. It was moving little by little and then it came closer to him. Kace kept his breathing nice and slow and calm. He didn't wanna seem tense or stressed. The baby griffin came close and then nipped his finger like Thompson said.
Well now he had a little critter to take care of. Thompson said he could name the guy. He grinned and thought of a name. "I think I will call you Freddie..." he said. He didn't know why but the name popped up.

It wasn't like the real one was his anymore. So for now the griffin would be Hiccup to his Toothless. At least the creature seemed enamored with him and loyal...for now at least. Benny let the griffin playfully nibble at his hair as they sat together, the boy waiting for Professor Thompson to move them on. At the very least the interaction allowed a distraction from the trio currently all with their own set of griffins on the other side of the enclosure.
See Adi...

Griffins. WHY did it have to be baby griffins. It's like when she tried to focus on her studies and upcoming exams everything just seemed to point towards him. And even though he wasn't a half lion- half eagle creature, it was just the irony of him being lion and well the eagle part, that was negotiable but together it just seemed so right ... and ugh, couldn't she please play with ANY OTHER creature?
While her peers held their hands outstretched for one of the baby griffins to choose them, Tia just stood frozen, watching them all nibbling and flying about. Her eyes might have lingered over to him too, but not for too long. No, distract yourself Tia. Focus.
Even without holding out her hands for one to come to her, it seemed as if one sensed her distractedness and found her anyway as it tickled at her ankles. Glancing down, the fifth year smiled and knelt down beside it. "Hi there." She smiled.

BABY GRIFFINS? FOR REAL WHAT? Dot bopped along happily toward the door to the barn, taking in the herd of teeny tiny baby griffin things. SO CUTE. WHOA. She bounced. A lot.
Oh, but Professor? "Orphans, sir? How did all of them get orphaned? Is there a problem with griffin poaching here at Hogwarts?" Because that made her so furious. Legitimately livid. She was gonna go punching some griffin poachers in the face. Or you know... whatever.
She got to pick a baby griffin to be friendly with now, right? That was probably best, since if she left it up to the griffins to choose, probably no one would choose her. Like always.

She would just snuggle them all until they all were hers. Okay maybe not. But one of them should pick her. Ha that's what it was the griffins knew how awesome she was and couldn't decide who should come to her first.
Uh, She should try to coax one or a few over to her. Let them know she was avbible for feeding them. "Hey guys." She put her hand out toward a few of them standing together. "Hey, who's hungry? I know you all are." Poor babies.
Hey look! One was moving toward her slowly though. Don't get excited and scare it. "Come here." Yep she pretty much had the baby talk voice that she used on her brother and sister in full mode now. To her surprise the griffin hoped over to her basically bouncing her way. Eppp it was coming her way and bounced into her lap. "Hi." Patting the baby griffin on the top of the head. "Hey, there little... guy?" Maybe he was a guy. or maybe a girl. The griffin flairled its wings. She laughed. "Excited huh? You need a name, don't ya?" Hmmmm name, name, name.
Cinna was definetly thinking this griffin was a girl. She rubbed the griffins head as she thought about a name. The griffin flailed its wings again. "Flail?" The griffin folded her wings back under her in protest. "So I'll take that as a no then? Hoowww abouuut... Jean?" Since apparently the pair of jeans she was wearing seem appealing to the baby griffin. The griffin was nibbling on her jeans. Hehe yes, weather the griffin liked it or not HER name was going to be Jean.

Dot primly took a seat on the edge of the group, making eyes at the closest griffins hopefully. Any of them want to make friends with her today? Hmm? She held out her hands hopefully, but the closest griffins were fully distracted by her classmates.
"Babyyyyy griffins," she called softly, wiggling her fingers until one of the baby griffins wandered her way and bumped it's beak against her fingers. A little nippy and ouch! but Dot was so delighted that she'd been chosen that she was willing to put up with ouchy fingers.
'Baby griffin. Hi. You're so sweet, aren't you?" More headbutting, and Dot had to sort of force her cuddles in sideways. "I'm going to call you... Lorenzo." On account of how handsome he was.

"Thankfully that is not true Miss Wojack-Gusey." Adding on the reason, "They're orphaned for mainly natural reasons ranging from sickness to passing on after giving birth." It was quite unfortunate.
Professor Thompson may have been a little distracted with one particular baby griffin as one decided to crawl over attempting to nip at his suit. Cute little one, wasn't it? Looking back up as this spectacular timed question came towards him, "Ah, it's very simple Mr. Hwang." Why not, everyone could do this as he spoke loud enough for anyone of interest. This part was optional. "First you can gently caress their feathers," As he did so from the top of its head towards it back, as its own eyes closed seemingly at peace, "Then leaving your hand at the end, you can hold them before tilting them to quickly check for a stub." Not that he needed to explain what said stub was, surely. He gave his own Griffin a check, nope, no stub here. So he let it back onto its claws and feets not bothered by the movement at all.
---
Now for the real task at hand, "Over in the pile in the corner are some blankets. You can summon one over easily with the spell 'Accio'," Now that was mainly for the younger students who hadn't come across that spell yet. Anyway, for demonstration and possible review for others he made the wand motion of a wide frown shape over "Accio blanket," Letting one fly towards his other outreached hand.
"Wrap it carefully around the Griffin," Who proceeded to squawk a little from the sudden movement before settling into the soft texture of the blanket before standing up. "Now that you'll be able to hold it safely in your arm, we can then feed them." Once everyone has managed to retrieve a blanket, an open box revealing half of meat carcass and the rest of empty baby bottles.
Now the instructions were coming whilst Professor Thompson went on ahead with the demonstrating while speaking. "Keeping a hold of your Griffin, who might try to struggle out since they're anxious on testing out their legs. Take an empty bottle, make sure it's clean before opening the lid to scoop in some of the carcass. It will regenerate in the box on it's own so don't worry about the amount you take." Now then, "The tricky part will come in now. The meat right now is much too tough for their beaks to take in. So-" With his arm still keeping ahold of a moving Griffin in the blanket, his other arm aimed inside the bottle with the almost stuff meat, "Cast an 'Incendio' to melt it followed by 'Aguamenti' to keep it in liquid form." Which he then did so. "You can of course let your Griffin free so you can take care of the bottle.. but you'll have to try to get it to come back to you before the drink gets too cold." Some things just had to have their challenge, didn't they?
"And then you can go on and feed them." Letting the bottle reach into the little squirming Griffin's beak stopped it in its tracks before it began drinking. "Griffin's taste for raw animal meat has always been present for them. Typically the mother will regurgitate some of the meat leaving it heated and soft enough for them to eat." But luckily they didn't have to resort to any of it touching their mouths. "Eventually they should be falling asleep not long after they finish."
----
OOC: The following objectives you are to complete:
- Acquire a blanket to wrap around the Griffin keeping it comfortable.
- Clean the baby bottle before placing the raw meat in.
- Melt it with fire before quickly mixing it with some water.
- Feed it and watch over until it sleeps.
This should take about four labeled posts minimum. You have until June 17th, 11:59 pm EST to complete.

Vaska and Zhenya were still playing when Professor Thompson called the class to attention. Good question Jackson. Zhenya watched the demonstration of how to see what gender the griffins were. Stub or no stub. Zhenya was quite impressed with the way the griffin just allowed them to flip them over, so she tried it. "Hey there Vaska," she said calmly, changing the activity to a pet. She ran her hand down Vaska's feathers, top to tail, and watched as Vaska went into a peace-like state. Cool. She flipped her over gently and looked. No stub. Vaska was a no stub. She gently put Vaska back on the ground, where her eyes opened and she continued to claw at Zhenya.
Now they were going to feed them, how fun. She pulled her wand out of her pocket, careful not to put it near Vaska's curious eyes. "Accio blanket," she said, arching her wrist for the wand movement. A blanket came towards her, and landed just next to her lap. "I'm going to wrap you up," Zhenya told Vaska in a calm voice, slowly bringing the blanket towards her and wrapping it around her. No noises, that was promising. Vaska looked quite comfortable in the blanket, so Zhenya picked her up and held her.

Gosh! Henric was so focused when it came to creatures! Adi couldn't blame him so he shut up and gave his friend the chance to focus as best as he could. Where as him and Henric had gotten Griffs, AJ had lucked out. The poor girlfriend. "They can sense you want to make them your minions to go looking for unicorns,'' he whispered jokingly. Huh? Get over- Adi's eyes followed AJ's to see Benny by himself with only a Griffin for company. He looked away. "I don't know what you're talking about.'' But he was starting to miss Benny.
Two things happened almost at one. First, Henric fell forward face first and two, AJ got her Griffin. "Henny! Are you okay?'' Adi rushed to help his Housemate. "Didn't damage the pretty boy face, did you?" LOL! Anyway, Henric seemed fine so the sixth year turned back to his girlfriend. "Nice name, AJ. That Griffin looks sooooo brutal.'' Haha. Sarcasm, of course.
...................
Sneaking a look at Benny from the corner of his eyes, Adi couldn't help but feel sorry for him. It was like looking back when they were about to start their second year when he had encountered the lone boy with his owl at King's Cross. Benny was obviously retreating back into his shell.
But! No more time to dwell on that because they were moving on. Adi watched carefully as Thompson did the demonstration. Gosh, the man made these creature things look so easy! Someday, Adi decided he was going to be like that. The Master of all creatures. Hehe. Right now, he had to master the baby Griffins! "Accio blanket!'' He caught the blanket in his outstretched hand.
"Come on, Henry.'' Adi coaxed the griffin gently to remain with him as he spread the snug blankie around it. Awh! It didn't even protest! The Puffer was having the time of his life here as he held Henry. It was squawking now as Thompson's had done. Maybe it liked the blankie a little too much. Hehe.

Patience seemed to pay off, because the little Griffin was venturing closer. Slowly Lux reached her hand out towards it, and no surprise that gesture was greeted by a tiny nip. No matter because that didn't hurt in the least.
"Hello, little guy." Cooing, she gently picked him up and placed him in her lap. "I think I am going to call you George." She had no idea why... That was just the first name that popped into her head. Petting George, she heard Professor Thompson explain how to check their gender. "...Better make that Georgina instead."
Snuggling little Georgina, Lux listened to the next instructions. So she needed to get a blanket for her Griffin. That was very easy and could be done without putting down her new friend. Pulling her wand out of her pocket, she pointed it at one of the blankets. "Accio blanket!" There. Now she had something to wrap Georgina in before starting the feeding. Putting the blanket around her, Lux couldn't help but think of her soon-to-be nephew; of course he wouldn't be a Griffin, but he would be a baby and she could help look after him. The thought was exciting.
"Now you're all snug as a bug in a rug." Lux was doing good so far.

Henric laughed, pretty boy face?! Quite insulting...really...Adi had forgotten smart and charmingly brilliant in there...hehe. Right...nevermind Adi, Henric was finally bonding with the magical creature!(:woot:) Well almost... because it kept trying to peck on his head and it hurts. He got up a little too quickly, startling the little griffin. "Oh no...sorry little one,hey...its okay...come here,"Henric cooed. He glanced back towards his friends, oh.. they already naming their baby griffins?! Hmm...it was odd that Adi called his little griffin,"Henry"...a coincidence...nope.Anyway,AJ naming of the griffin fair much better though, she named it Brutus...not bad...not bad! He liked the name, he wanted to name his griffin strongly too!
"What should I name you...how about Casper...do you like the name Casper, buddy? Casper then.."he decided.
He looked around to see where his bestie at and wondered if she was successful in getting herself a baby griffin.Nice! She knew she could do it and and was fine interacting with the baby griffin...but she seemed lonely. He should go to her later, right after he kept his own baby griffin warm.
"Accio Blanket,"he summoned. He pulled the blanket over Casper's body. "Here you go buddy...hope you warm up enough,"he smiled, gently stroking the back of its head. He then tucked Casper into his arms as if he was cradling it."Good boy, Casper..."he whispered.

Not moving wasn't all that easy when she could clearly see everyone else had a little Griffin approaching them already. It was all about patients thought and Hady was doing her best. Her silence proved to work as soon enough a tiny little specked griffin edged closer to her appearing to keep her in it's sights. She could understand that, poor little thing was probably frightened with everything going on around them and being so young yet.
As it crept every so slowly closer Hady remained still. Well at least until she had the back of her hand nipped at. Flinching just slightly in surprise as thankfully the nip she'd just gotten hadn't hurt at all and she beamed down at the baby. "Well hello there..." she whispered softly reaching out and carefully picking it up. Doing as she saw Professor Thompson do she lifted it up and tipped him over a little finding rather quickly that she was holding a boy griffin. Good to know really as it made naming her new friend all that much more easier to do.
"Mind if I call you Charlie? I think it's suits you alright," she decided gently setting her small bundle of feathers on her lap and smoothing his head very lightly for a brief moment. He was just the sweetest little thing! However she needed to do as told and get this little guy wrapped up in a nice warm blanket. Flicking her wrist just slightly had her wand firmly set in her grasp. "Accio blanket," she cast firmly catching the item as it sailed her way with her free hand.
Setting her wand down right at her side she then went about lightly wrapping Charlie up in the blanket. "There you go Charlie, all nice and warm." Hady grinned down at her feathered friend.

Adi liked how Henric found his 'pretty boy' remark funny. He remained silent now, studying his friend for any possible signs of brain damage in case he had banged his head really hard with that fall. But nope! Henric looked fine as he busied himself with the Griffin... or Casper. "That's a really cool name. Watch out he doesn't scare you with his ghosty self.'' Hehe.
...................
Adi ruffled Henry's feathers as he held the creature in his left hand. Caring for any infant creature was practically the same as caring for human infants. He could see why Thompson had started off the class with that particular question. And the man was right. Henry kept trying to escape, yo! This was one of those times when he needed his very own invented Creatures' Calming Draught. "Come on, Henry,'' he said patiently to the Griffin as he tightened his grip around it but at the same time holding it gently. With a bit of difficulty, the Hufflepuff managed to snag one of the baby bottles which he then ensured was clean by casting the Scouring Charm on it.
Next, using the Levitating Charm, he got a great deal of the meat... whatever kind it was, into the bottle. Yep, he was feeding this still struggling to escape baby a healthy dose of protein.

Seemed like the baby griffin loved being called Chingu. Hehehe... Okay. Ooh, Professor Thompson had explained how to see the differences between male and female baby griffins. He gently caressed Chingu's feathers, then leaving his hand to the end and checked if it had stub or not. It has a stub so... Chingu is a male then. Male or female, he still called his baby griffin Chingu.
After he checked Chingu's gender, The Korean boy then summoned the blanket to wrap his baby griffin. "Accio blanket!" Then a baby blue blanket came toward him. "Oh, it's blue. I hope you don't mind with blue color." Blue was a good color though himself would choose dark red rather than blue. "I'm gonna cover you with this blanket, so you're not gonna feel cold anymore." He whispered and patted its head. Seemed like Chingu loved to be petted by him. Hehehe. Gently he wrapped the baby griffin with the blanket. Looks like Chingu loved the blanket, huh?

His eyes weren't on Professor Thompson, but Cutty was paying attention. Listening to what the Professor of Magical Creatures had been saying. His hands were busy, still scratching the downy neck of Phlegon. This gesture went from being done with both hands to being done with only the left as he reached for his wand with his right hand.
He concentrated on the spell and motioned his wand to summon a blanket not realizing he'd done it wordlessly. The soft blanket hit and then draped itself over Cutty's wand and hand. He deposited it, along with his wand into his lap and slowly, carefully swung it over the little orphan boy's back. He hugged the creature closer to his body and swaddled him more securely. Then as though he were handling a baby kitten he lifted little Phlegon into his arms.

It was time to get some food into this little guy. Hady shifted the bundle of wrapped up baby griffin on her lap a little bit smoothing the feathers on his head with one finger. Her gaze shifted to what her fellow classmates were doing to see which was would be easiest way to go about getting a bottle and filling it with the meat she needed to.
She had watched closely as the Professor had demonstrated how this was to be done. A little tricky but she was sure she'd be able to accomplish it. Raising to her feet she held her blanketed griffin gently but firmly to her chest as she went and collected a bottle. Shifting Charlie into her left arm she was able to get the bottle open, then came a quick casting of 'scorgify' with her wand.
A little more of shifting around she was able to keep a hold of a semi squirming about Charlie Griffin as she scooped some of the meat stuff into the bottle. A quick glance at it's contents showed her there was just enough inside the bottle and she was ready for the next step.

After he wrapped Chingu with the blanket, the Korean boy hold him safely. Seemed like he felt very comfortable in his arms, that's a good sign, right? "Don't go to sleep first because I'm gonna feed you with delicious meat," He whispered softly. Still holding the baby griffin on his arm, the Korean boy decided to summon a baby bottle. "Accio."
Okay. The bottle was here already! Be patient, okay Chingu?
He examined the bottle first. It's not cracked and cleaned... But better to clean it again so he was really sure that the bottle was clean and clean. "Scourgify." Jackson cast the scouring charm to the inside of the bottle. There, now it's clean and clean. Ready for the meat, buddy? He put the meat into the bottle. And then.. what's next?

With the baby griffin swaddled in his arm, Cutty put his wand back into his pocket and went over to grab a bottle. Carefully holding the griffin cub he unscrewed the lid and peered inside. It was pretty clean, but as he knew from potions class clean didn't ways mean sanitary or fit for consumption. So he drew his wand on the bottle. "Scourgify." He placed the cleaning charm on it and followed it with a heating charm to truly rid the glass of any remaining germs.
The griffkitten lifted and then pressed one paw and then the other against Cutty's chest letting a bit of it's claws out in order that it could cling. The boy made a face to show that that is what was happening, but he did not stop working, scooping a portion of meat into the bottle.

Now for the tricky part. Or so Professor Thompson had referred to it as. And yes, Adi could see the trickiness in that beacause Henry was really squirming to get out of his arms but hey, at least they could let the Griffin go for a while. "I'll put you down but don't go wandering off, okay?'' The Hufflepuff gently set the baby Griffin down and it promptly did a jump or two around him, AJ and Henric. Hehe. Such a bouncy little creature!
Wasting no more time, he pointed his wand at the inside of the bottle. This would be much quicker without Henry squirming around. "Incendio!'' Look at that meat cook, yo! When it was roughly the same texture as the Professor's, he stopped the spell them immediately followed that up with Aguamenti. Liquid meat for Henry! Ugh. Liquid meat did not sound too appetizing to him.
Now. Where was his Griffin?

Angel listened to the Professor and smiled this was going to be epic, she couldn't wait to feed the poor baby, she was sure that it must be hungry but first was it her or was it getting colder and she didn't want the poor creature to catch a cold that would just be so terrible.
Angel looked around and suddenly saw a blanket, though they were out of her reach. "Accio Blanket." Angel smiled as one came over to her and she quickly put it around her baby griffin. "I'm sure you must be cold right and we can't have that can we." Angel hoped that the Griffin would love the food she was going to get it next.

Hearing Thompson speak up about how to check if the griffins were boys or girls, Toby followed his instructions, running his fingers down Griffin's feathers from head to tail. Holding and tilting the creature, taking a look. Griffin was a GIRL. That was neat.
Toby gave her a hug. Just for being awesome. Though it seemed she was more interested in nipping at his ear and trying to climb all up over his head, a little like Staco had been as a puppy, actually.
"Ack! Griffin!" he giggled - yes, giggled... it TICKLED, okay? - squirming to free his oh-so-sensitive neck from those tickly feathers. "I gotta... get you a... *GIGGLE* ... Accio!" Toby had managed to point his wand towards the blankets and summoned one over while his Griffin baby crawled all over him. Maybe that's why she'd been drawn to him; they were kindred spirits with all the energy. "C'mere, you..."
He felt mean doing it, subduing Griffin by wrapping her up int he blanket, but he knew it was so he'd be able to feed her, and food was super important.

Marigold was loving this. Why had she failed this OWL??? This would've been a PERFECT job for her. Sigh. She could just handle muggle animals, then. That was fine. But she really liked magical creatures…was there a university that could take her and train her even without OWL scores? Yes? No?
Ahem. She cleared her throat. Lifting one of Godric's legs gently, she figured that Godric was, indeed, a boy. Nice. She put Godric's leg back down and patted his head. Yay. Godric was the BEST griffin out of ALL OF THEM. Not that this was a competition. Because if it was, Godric would TOTALLY WIN.
"Accio blanket," she said, holding her wand strongly, and neatly caught the blanket that zoomed towards her before dropping it. Oops. Gently gently gently, she wrapped it around the squirming Godric, and then scooped Godric up onto her lap and bounced her knee lightly. Babies seemed to like it, yes.

Oh. Figuring out the sex. Eden stroked the feathers softly and smiled...she lifted the griffin up and checked for...a "stub" right...and LOOK. HERS WAS A BOY. Well good, because she'd named it Hector. "HI there, Hector," she giggled a little and set him down, stroking his feathers some more. He seemed to like it, and was preening into her hand.
Cute griffin was CUTE.
She watched Professor Thompson carefully wrap his griffin in a blanket and pulled out her wand. She wanted to try this nonverbally first...lately, she just wanted to do it...and in seventh year, she certainly should be expected to do nonverbals sometimes. She squinted at the blankets....Accio blanket! she thought, clearly...and one of the blankets twitched, but didn't move.
Ugh.
"Accio blanket--" she flicked her wand in an annoyed way at the blankets, and one of them spirited itself over to her. Eden carefully swaddled Hector in the blanket and smiled because this was....an amazing feeling. Eden lived for this. Just..ugh. She loved it. "Ready for food, little guy?" she smiled when he squawked.

Okay, so now they had to- oh. OH. Toby made a FACE. You know the one. The face he always made when he needed to handle, like, icky gross meat and stuff. And it was... still in dead animal form kinda, which made Toby go a little pale when he looked at it. Oh boy. Nuh-uh. Not fun.
He took a moment, hanging back with a look on his face that said in no uncertain terms that he was not enjoying the idea of scooping meat straight from the carcass. But Griffin gave a squawk in his arms, and Toby looked at her. Was she hungry? She was probably hungry. And THAT was what she was meant to eat, and HE wasn't going to deny her that.
Anyway. Meat scooping didn't even need to happen just yet. First Toby needed one of those bottles. He picked one up with the hand that still held his wand, and moved it into the hand of the arm that carried the Griffin. Toby was basically a pro at this, kinda not really sorta, 'cause he had experience with Curtis. He'd learnt to be a little less clumsy when holding a baby human. And now it applied to baby Griffins, too.
"Scourgify," Toby said, pointing his wand into the bottle. And the outside. And the inside and outside of the lid part as well, making sure it was super clean. And then he repeated the process again.
Gotta make sure it was clean, right? Very important stuff.

Norah didn't pause her stroking of the little griffin's head as she listened to Professor Thompson introduce the rest of the activity. They were going to get to FEED the little cuties? Man oh man oh man this was the best day ever. She was pretty sure she said that every time she had this class, but it didn't really matter 'cause even so it was EXCITING when fun stuff like this happened. She kept one hand on the griffin as she pulled out her wand with the other, giggling again when it nipped her hand with its itty bitty beak. Cutie.
Aiming her wand in the direction of the blankets, she cast "Accio blanket!" and watched as it began to soar over to her...and fall to the ground halfway through the trip. Uh. Okay then. "Accio blanket!" she called, a little more forcefully this time, and watched it hurtle towards with more force until it hit her right in the face. Good thing they weren't summoning bowling balls, eh? The fourth year pulled the blanket off of her head and draped it over the griffin's body, pulling him towards her to wrap it all around until she was holding a little griffin burrito. She beamed at the little head poking out. Look. How. ADORABLE.

"Okay, Godric, you ready?" Marigold asked her griffin, smiling with big googly eyes, made especially for being nice to BABIES. Yes. "I know you're hungry, I'm getting you food now, okay, Godric?"
She picked up the bottle and, after a quick "Scourgify" inside and outside and on the mouth of the bottle, she was ready to tackle…the raw meat. Euuugh. Okay. She could deal with this, she could deal with ANYTHING for the sake of a BABY ANIMAL.
She scooped some raw meat in there, wincing at the smell and at the still wriggling Godric in her arms, before shifting the griffin to her other arm. There ya go.

Angel grabbed the baby bottle that was near here and looked at it, seriously couldn't the professor have cleaned them before the lesson... well she would now clean the bottle herself, she didn't want her little baby to get hurt.

Raw meat...Eden was glad she didn't have a hatred for the stuff or anything. ANYTHING for a baby animal...ugh. So SO cute. Eden wanted to steal this baby griffin and hoard it in her dorm and keep him FOREVER. Was this allowed? Would Thompson notice? WOULD HE?
Probably.
Ugh.
She held the griffin in one arm, and maneuvered around a bit to grab the bottle, she uncapped it(skillfully, too, with ONE hand) because the griffin was struggling a good bit. "Heey....hey....calm down, little guy." She said in soft tones as she grabbed her wand and aimed at the bottle. "Scourgify!" she said clearly, but not too loudly. She didn't want to scare the griffin. It was ALL clean now...
"We're gonna' eat soon...aren't you excited?" she smiled down at Hector, who had begun to stare at her when she spoke. "Food....aren't you hungry, baby?" she was....really and fully enjoying this. It was bringing out...all SORTS of maternal feelings in her.

Norah knew it was time to go get the bottle and all that, but it was just to cute to leave, y'know? With its little eyes and beak poking out from the blanket, she wasn't sure she was ever going to be able to leave it there. Except she did. It was totally sad and she watched it the entire time she walked towards the box of bottles and meat, even though it meant nearly tripping over another griffin or two on the way there. Oh, the sacrifices she made to feed her little baby griffin.
She picked out a bottled and aimed her wand at it as she cast, "Scourgify!" and then "Scourgify" again. Aaaand one more time. "Scourgify!" She had to be thorough, okay? This was her little baby griffin they were talking about. It was the real deal. Once she was satisfied with the cleanliness of the bottle, the fourth year cast "Scourgify"' on her gloves before slipping them on her hands and scooping some raw meat into the bottle. She threw a look back at her swaddled griffin just to make sure he hadn't somehow escaped, then rushed back over with the bottle of meat in her hands.
Pulling her gloves off, she gave the griffin another pat on the head, and hugged him close. Yeah, yeah. She had to make the food and stuff but she could have some cuddle time too, right? They'd determined that was important at the beginning of class. So there.

Shifting the weight of Georgina to her left hand, Lux tried her hardest to keep the Griffin in a firm but gentle grip within the blanket. The escape efforts got a giggle. "Not yet, Georgina. I have to feed you first!" She was so gosh darn cute and it melted her heart.
With no small amount of difficulty she managed to grab a bottle and cleaned it thoroughly with Scourgify. There was no way that her little Griffin would eat out of a dirty bottle just like she would never give her nephew a dirty bottle of milk. Lux wanted to be the best aunt ever, and that wouldn't happen if she was mean and made the baby sick. She wouldn't make her Griffin sick either. "Let's get you some yummy food!" Nommy.
Raw meat sure looked gross. Making a face as she continued to hold a struggling Georgina, Lux carefully scooped some into the bottle. Since Professor Thompson told them it regenerated there was no need to worry about how much she took. "There," she said to herself as she took what seemed to be a decent sized portion.

Adi's comment got a laugh out of her. The griffins would make some pretty awesome unicorn hunting minions, but they were much too small for that now. It was for once one of the furthest things on her mind. Right now she just wanted to cuddle one.
Obviously Adi was still avoiding the problem, and she frowned at him. "Of course you do." He wasn't fooling her at all. It was sad to watch Benny be all alone especially because he wasn't anywhere near as outgoing at they were. Where was Angel? She figured her sister would be more supportive. During her internal struggle, she missed Henric falling over and their little exchange. They could have been talking about cars for all she knew.
They were going to wrap the babies up in their blankies and feed them from a bottle. Cuteness overload. This little activity only made AJ even more sure that the field she would be going in after school was the right one for her. Merlin, she loved creatures.
First things first. "Accio blanket." AJ grabbed the blanket as it flew her way. "Does little Brutus need a blanket and a snug?" Because that was what he was going to get. Gently, she wrestled him into the blanket. AJ made sure to wrap it nice and tight around his entire body. He looked as snug as a bug.

Angel had the bottle cleaned, she made sure that it was totally clean, she looked around to see where Benny was, she was going to spend some time with him after this lesson to see if she could cheer him up, he looked so down at the minute and she didn't like it.
Angel put the baby griffin down next to her so she could do the next instruction because this was going to be better with two hands than one, she was sure about that.
Angel added the meat into the bottle and then she took her wand. "Incendio!" Angel did the wand movement and waited until the meat was like the professor had told her it should be like. "Aguamenti!" Angel did the wand movement and added the water she stopped it before it over flowed from the bottle, she was now ready to feed her baby griffin.

So they were moving on.
Ben kept half of his attention on his charge and the rest on Professor Thompson as he explained what he wanted them to do to take care of their baby Griffins. It seemed simple enough...in theory and instruction. One just had to wait and see if it happened that way in truth since if there was anything he knew about babies it was that they could be unpredictable. His buddy Hiccup was already showing a little of that as he tried to play with him.
He was a he...the Gryffindor had already noticed something.
Slipping his wand out of his pocket, he began with the first step. "Accio," he summoned, watching as one of the blankets from the pile teasingly moved for a bit where it was before coming towards him. Ben grabbed it with his left hand and held it out for Hiccup to sniff. "See...safe..." he assured his companion while the creature examined the blanket. The sixth year then tentatively wrapped it around him before gingerly edging the half-bird/half-lion onto his lap.
The griffin sqwacked at his efforts, pawing at his human's legs before paying more attention to the blanket around him. Looks like Hiccup was curious too.

So next, she had to make sure the meat was...edible for the baby. Right. It needed to be watery enough to...drink. Well, that was super unpleasant, but Eden wasn't grossed out too easily...so yeah. She grabbed a glob of the meat and shoved it into the bottle....these bottles better withstand fire.
"Incendio--" she said quickly. The meat did indeed get all...melty...and she then quickly cast, "Aguamenti!" and using a mixing spell, as well, to help it out. All right. She had set the griffin in her lap, who was trying to get out of the blanket, but Eden quickly grabbed Hector and held him close, lifting the bottle a little.
"LOOK. FOOD, you little fiend--" she smirked as she teased the little guy, and his eyes fixated on her bottle almost instantly. "Ooooh you ARE hungry, are ya'?" Heh. That was cute.

As she gripped her wand and readied it for a spell, Kate's blue eyes flickered in the direction of the blankets. "Accio!" she said, and the blanket began its short trek to her. Once she had it in her hands, she began carefully wrapping it around the Griffin. This Griffin, whom she'd named Sparks for no particular reason, squawked, as well. It must have enjoyed the feel of the blanket, though, because it settled down soon enough.
"There now," she said, doubting it could understand her, "that wasn't so bad, was it? It's just a blanket, and it'll keep you really warm." Whether it could understand her or not was a moot point. It looked as snug as a bug and all ready for it's bottle of raw meat.
Ew, but whatever.

Angel was going to enjoy this next part, she got to feed Nibbles and she was going to enjoy every minute of it, she pick Nibbles up and started to stroke the blanket that had Nibbles under it, "This is going to be awesome!"
Angel took the bottle and started to feed Nibbles, whilst singing to him. "Twinkle, Twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are, up above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky, twinkle, twinkle little star." Angel had heard that song when she was little and it had made her sleep when she had been younger.
Angel continued to feed Nibbles and sing to it, until the baby Griffin fell asleep after it had eaten the food, this was awesome and she had totally enjoyed the experience could she do it again please, like could she come back tomorrow and feed Nibbles again.

Now this was going to be the fun part of this whole lesson. And probably the hardest part of the lesson as well. She listened to professor Thompson's instructions. Get a blanket. Hehe snuggle time with the griffin though, now she was wondering how snuggling would even be possible. The little griffin was very sqirmy, Maybe the blanket comforted them. She was sitting indian style she placed Jean between her legs, then summoned the blanket.
"Accio blanket." Holding out her other hand and catching the blanket as it zoomed by. "Here you go, Miss Jean." She patted the top of her head. What a good little griffin she was. Except she was still nibbling on her jeans. "Okay, Okay. I know you're hungry." Honestly she was getting hungry herself. How was the jeans, Jean? wrapping Jean up in the blanket she held the griffin before she going to go get the bottle.

Okay, it was decided. Cadfael was one of the cutest animals ever… not that she would ever tell Duchess or Chestnut that… or even little Boom and Ana; Adi’s fairies. But really… Cadfael was just adorable; and what a name for …. Checkcheck … him too. In Welsh, Cadfael meant Prince, or so she believed. She was sure that was right, she would ask her Tad in her next letter home just to make sure she wasn’t insulting her gorgeous Griffin.
HER griffin. Yup, she hoped Professor Thompson didn’t expect her to ignore the Griffins now that she knew they were here. Hehe.
Okay. She continued to stroke the soft, growing feathers on Cadfael’s head, smiling as they reminded her of the griffin feather decorations on her own wand. What a coincidence hehe. See, her and Cadfael were meant to be.
Blanket. She could do that. Accio. Accio… She listened to Professor Thompson say it, and then repeated it a few times, trying to get the pronunciation right. ”Ach-io. Ak-kio. Ack-kio.” Frowny face, as she couldn’t get the right collaboration of syllables to sound like the others in class. OH! ”Accio.” She said, copying one of the older girls next to her.
”Accio. Accio.” She said, pointing her wand at the pile. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. ”Accio.” Guh! In a huff with herself and her magic, she held Cadfael close to her as she shuffled backwards the five or so feet to the pile of blankets. Luckily, she was close enough to them to be able to grab one by streeeeeeetching…. but she really wished her magic was stronger and she could do more charmed already.
Sigh.
At least Cadfael was warm now.

Now came the tricky part. Professor Thompson sure was right about that. Lux didn't think she could do it nearly as smoothly as him, but then he was a professional and worked with animals for a living.
"Okay, here goes!" While still keeping a firm hold on Georgina in her blanket, Lux did some juggling to where she could safely light a fire and not potentially hurt herself or the baby Griffin. "Just a little longer." So PLEASE don't escape because it might be hard to get her back in her blanket and feed her before everything got cold.
Pointing her wand inside the bottle Lux said, "Incendio!" The meat melted which meant that Georgina could actually consume it. Immediately after she said, "Aguamenti!" in order to keep it in liquid form.
The little Griffin's eyes were glued to the bottle and that made Lux laugh. Someone was clearly hungry and it wasn't her for once.

Zander was actually growing quite fond of his baby griffin. To be quite honest, taking care of baby griffins wasn't really what he had in mind for the day... But these little guys weren't all that bad. Actually, he was kinda disappointed that they only got to take care of one 'cause Zander could TOTALLY handle two. This guy was so well behaved and such a good--OOF. Again with the nibbling.
Sweet. Merlin.
Zander scooped the little guy into his arms, to hopefully stop the whole nibbling thing. Especially since they were being more instructions and these ones sounded kinda crucial to the rest of the lesson. Ahem. Okay, first task sounded easy enough. Blanket. He could totally do that. Granted... He hadn't ever tried an accio before, but Kevin got it in his second year so it couldn't be all that bad, right?
"Accio blanket!" The Gryffindor mimicked the same wand movement as his Professor had done earlier, holding his hand out to catch the blanket when it flew over. Except... It didn't. "Accio blanket!!" He tried again. This time there was a glimmer of hope as a blanket lifted up into the air and flew straight towards... Benny?
GAH. Zander had half a mind to just go ahead and grab a blanket himself, but no. He was going to get this two work. Plus there was some sort of magic associated with the number three, right? "ACCIO BLANKET!" And HA blanket!! Except... He may have startled the baby griffin in the whole process...
Oops?
Zander was quick to apologize, well, not that the griffin could understand... But he still apologized in whispers and gentle touches. Letting the griffin go as it was struggling a bit... Sigh. Still he sat with his arms held out, trying to be as peaceful-looking as he could. Honestly, Zander didn't think the griffin would come back, but it DID. And man, Zander sure was grateful. Ahem. He waited for the griffin to do more nibbling or whatever, and this time Zander wouldn't even complain, before wrapping the baby up into the blanket. There. Done. Merlin.

Getting the blanket around the Griffin was the easy part. This raw meat, though? Thanks, but no thanks. If only it was that easy. Kate didn't have a choice about participating in classes or not. So as disgusting as it was, she would have to deal with the raw meat.
She collected a baby bottle then aimed her wand toward it. "Scourgify!" she said, and just for good measure, she decided to clean it again...and again. "Scourgify! Scourgify!" Okay, now the bottle should be clean, although it wouldn't be too clean after she put the disgusting raw meat into it.
Kate sighed to herself as she eyed the raw meat. Alright. Now or never.

Apparently that was enough snuggling with the griffin. Poor little baby griffin. Jean had enough snuggling she supposed. Cinna moved Jean off of her lap. She let Jean roam around with the blanket draped over her. How cute. Now she could go get the bottle and the raw meat. She got the bottle and meat. Heading back to the spot she was at with Jean. She gave her wand a wave "Scourgify!" Hmmmmm maybe she better try that again. "Scourgify!" There that looked much better.
She went back to got Jean to come back to her which was harder than she though it was going to be. She finally got Jean back in her arms. Holding onto Jean in her blanket the griffin still wiggling around. She opened up the bottle. "See look its food. I'm going to feed you, in a minute." She placed the raw meat into the bottle. She held onto Jean a little tighter so she wouldn't lose her. Now she just had to make it where Jean could eat it. Just like human babies Griffin babies couldn't eat solid food just yet.

Unlike some of her fellow classmates Hady had a different idea on just how she was going to do this. With the bottle of meat in her hand and Charlie still wrapped up in his blanket she made her way to an empty spot and sat back down. Setting the bundle of sweet baby griffin down on her lap she lifted her knees just a little to cradle him there, sorta holding him in place so her hands were free.
Using her wand she cast a quick "Incendio" at the meat inside the bottle. Keeping a close on eye on it until it was a nice smooth liquid form and then quickly added water to it using "Aquamenti". When it was nearly full to the top of the bottle she cancelled the spell and replaced her wand to it's holster. Placing the lid back on the bottle she gave it a few small shakes to make sure it was okay for her griffin to drink/eat from. It looked okay to her so far.
All the while she had been doing this she was gently rocking herself from side to side in a very calming soothing motion and humming some old random tune under her breath when she hadn't been casting a charm. As weird as she may have looked it was working for Charlie wasn't struggling to get away from her like she saw was happening to others around her.

Pointing her wand inside the bottle,"Incendio!" She waited for the meat to melt down, once it was all melted down she added water with "Aguamenti!" When the bottle was full she stopped adding the water. Shaking the bottle to get everything mixed up good. Again there wasn't much difference in taking care of a human baby and a animal baby. Not much at all. Now with a wiggling and squirming griffin in her arms she some how hold the griffin and feed her at the same time.
She felt that she had her hand on Jean tight enough that if she would show Jean the bottle of food that to would calm her down enough to get her to start eating on the bottle. She rocked Jean in her arms and held the bottle to its beek. "Come on Jean, you gotta eat." The Griffin had been so eager to eat not too long ago. The bottle was still warm so she knew that wasn't the problem. "What's wrong? Are you not hungry now?" That was nonsense. The Gryffindor sat up straight. Now Was that better little miss Jean? She put the bottle back up to the beek and the Griffin started eating.
Look at the she was feeding the little griffin and her was eating. Yay her! Yay Jean! She was way too excited, she should probably calm down before she scared the griffin. Not that she was really going nuts with excitement right now.

Once Vaska was nicely wrapped up, it was time to clean the bottle before feeding the baby griffin. Vaska was tucked in Zhenya's arm, so only her dominant hand was free. She had decided to keep hold of Vaska rather than let her go and risk her running off or not wanting the blanket on her again. Plus, the poor things mother had died, and she was all alone. Well, plus all the other griffins around. "I hope you're hungry," she said to her griffin, reaching to get a bottle. The bottle didn't look too dirty, but of course babies could only drink out of bottles that had been cleaned, even if they looked clean. So, griffins were probably the same. Something about their immune system not being mature enough to handle any of the germs they introduced to their gut. Poor orphaned Vaska, Zhenya certainly didn't want her to have an upset tummy.
It was quite difficult, with only one arm, but Zhenya put the baby bottle into the other hand, just to hold, whilst she cleaned it. She picked up her wand and pointed it at the bottle. "Scourgify," she said, twirling her wand into the S shape. She nodded. That was good, nice and clean.

With her eyes partly closed, Kate lifted the lid of the bottle then plunged the bottle into the raw meat. She began scooping the Griffin's meal into the bottle. This was the most disgusting looking meal she'd ever seen. She knew people cooked raw meat and then ate it after it was cooked, but it was just the thought of eating it raw that got to her.
When she'd scooped up enough raw meat, Kate retrieved her wand then flicked it toward the meat. "Incendio!" she said. She kept a careful eye on the raw meat as it began to melt. When she was satisfied with how much it had melted, she ended that spell and began a new one. "Aguamenti!" she added, giving the meat a bit more liquid.
The meal, if you could even call it that, was now ready for the Griffin. Dinner time!

Sorry, but what were they doing with that dead animal box? Melting down the meat in a bottle? Melting... meat? Dot pulled a grossed out face and considered whether or not she was going to make a real effort to complete her tasks with 100% effort or with 3% effort.
And then her friend Lorenzo nipped at her fingers again, and she decided it was a 100% day. He was hungry, and she was the chosen one. "Okay, sir, you can have food today, but remember it in a few years when I need rides to Paris." They were partners in crime now.
First things first. "Accio blanket," she grabbed the blanket out of the air and tried to tuck the ends around her baby griffin. Like... why was he so wiggly? Even Bubba wasn't this wiggly, but then... Lorenzo had two more legs AND wings. "Hold still, sir!"

Right, well with the bottle clean there was nothing more to do besides scoop some of the...erm... delicious food into it for Vaska. Carefully, carefully, seeing as she still had Vaska under her arm, she manoeuvred it just right so that she could scoop some of the carcass, with her free arm, into the bottle. It was done, and now she had to prepare the food for Vaska's liking. Mmm...
With her free arm, she picked up her wand once again and pointed it to the opening of the bottle, where the delicious carcass was. "Incendio," she said, a wave of her wrist up and down in the shape of a flame, and a small and controlled fire came out of the tip of her wand. She held it there for a few moments until the carcass had melted enough. But now, as Professor Thompson had explained, it was a bit too thick. She needed to add a bit of water. Plus, the meat was surely too hot for the baby griffin. "Aguamenti," she said, pointing her wand to the opening of the bottle, where the small stream of water was aimed.

Check... for a stub? Sophie heard Javy explain that to a Gryffindor boy, and the prefect snorted with laughter. Nice choice of words there, Javy. A stub. Please.
...But what WAS hers? She hadn't even checked - so she did so, and a girl Griffin baby had chosen her. "Cuuuuute. I'm gonna name you..." Hmmm, what was a fitting name? "Genevieve, I think, 'cause you're cute but feisty and you'd probably kill someone in a heartbeat if you had to." Genevieve was still nipping at Soph's fingers, so she was grateful when Javy gave them instructions to move on.
Not that it hurt THAT badly... because it didn't. She just wanted it to stop and love her instead, okay?
Directing her wand over toward the pile of blankets, Sophie cast, "Accio blanket!" A blanket flew her way and just about knocked her in the head, but she managed to catch the bulk of it with one hand. Yeah, great idea with that one, Javy. Merlin. She went ahead to gently swaddle the griffin with the blanket, just like she imagined she would with a baby, and gave Genevieve cuddles while she wiggled around in her arms.
"Don't resist my love," she lightly scolded, offering more nuzzles to the creature as it nipped at her hair. So resisting, this one.

Eden pulled the griffin close to her chest and held him like a proper baby. "Really, it's food time, Hector. So stay still, little guy." She said in soft tones, because he was readily struggling...but like, also properly curious in the bottle, too. Eden was sure he could smell the meat.
So she just held him snugly, tipped the bottle into his mouth, and let the meat drop drop DRIP into the mouth, like a little feeder...for a tiny bird. Oh. Hector REALLY liked that...he was gobbling it ALL right now...Eden was smiling as she fed him, too.
Wow.
She couldn't get over how cool this was...how...good she felt while doing this. His eyes were beginning to blink, slowly, as she kept dripping the liquid-y meat into his beak..and soon...his eyes were completely closed. Eden set the bottle down and just rocked him a bit, holding him close.
Why did she feel protective?! she felt PROTECTIVE. HER HECTOR.

Wrapping the griffin more securly in the blanket against the fidgeting and squacking of the creature, Ben was ready to chance moving on. He used the summoning spell once more to grab a bottle and some meat since it didn't seem like he should chance moving once he got his charge under control...for now. "Scourgify," he cast on the bottle to make sure of its cleanliness, nearly jostled as the griffin shifts around on his lap.
"Easy fella..." he tried to calm, giving it a few scratches. "Trying to get you fed." After a few minutes Hiccup seemed to catch on, either from his words or the fact he smelled the food and put two and two together. Benny momentarily let go of the griffin to relax peacefully on him so he could work with both hands. First things first...adding the meat into the bottle. It took some effort given it was tough as the professor had warned and because the neck of the bottle was only so big, but eventually it was in.
And now the even trickier part...getting it to the right consistency.

Genevieve did not want to love Sophie back, even though the griffin had CHOSEN her. It was very discouraging, really, and she didn't know how to be more lovable. But... maybe this grifin just had a short attention span, or wasn't naturally affectionate or didn't like humans. Or... well, it was a baby, right? So maybe... thinking about why babies could be restless... maybe the griffin was tired, or hungry. Hungry? Maybe... yes, that made sense. They HAD to be hungry, since Javy said it was feeding time.
SO THERE WAS HOPE YET.
"Don't worry, Genevieve, we'll get you some food soon. Y'just gotta hold on." Not LITERALLY hold on - Sophie was glad the griffin didn't speak human because she didn't want it digging its claws into her. But the Ravenclaw went ahead to gather up one of the empty bottles and peeked inside it curiously. It didn't look particularly dirty, buuuut... might as well be efficient with it, right? "Scourgify![/i]" she cast into the bottle, then held it up in front of her face to examine it - yeah, that was good. Alllllllll clean, then.
But now they had to... put raw meat inside? That was just a little gross, but it wasn't completely unmanageable, so Soph used her wand to levitate a little bit of carcass at a time into the opening of her bottle, bit by bit until the bottle was packed pretty well with the meat. Genevieve had a BIG APPETITE, Sophie was sure of it, so the griffin would need as much food as she could get.
Sophie had her back.

''Let's just leave it alone for now,'' Adi whispered to AJ. He was in no mood to talk about the whole situation. Especially not with Henric right there. What if he overheard anything about what the cause of the fight was? Nuh uh. Henric was better left to be a happy Puffer. Adi did sneak another look at Benny though. Yeah. He was starting to miss the Gryffindor.
..................
Adi EYED the mixture. Bleh. He would never want to eat THAT. But Henry might like it. Speaking of Henry... where was he? There he was! Right behind the sixth year, doing some more jumps. Man, this Griffin was full of energy! Like him. Yup, yup. Adi turned so that he was sitting the opposite way. "Come on, Henry.'' He held out his hand to coax the infant Griffin to him. Henry continued to jump around. "I've got food for you. I bet you must be hungry.'' He held up the bottle to show the mixture.
Henry's eyes fixed on the bottle and he stopped jumping to take a few steps towards Adi who snagged the blanket from the ground that had fallen off in the process of Henry bouncing around. He shook the blankie to get rid of any dirt and when Henry was close enough, he placed the plushy thing around him. "Gotcha.'' But Henry was still squirmy. The Puffer firmly but gently held the Griffin to hold the still warm bottle before its beak. That did the trick! Henry stopped squirming and opened its beak to drink the liquified meat.
Phew! At least the food did the trick of calming the feathered bundle of energy down. Even before all the food was done from the bottle Adi could see Henry's eyes starting to close. Annnnd just in time did the Griffin finish the food! Its eyes closed completely. Obviously Henry had fallen asleep. Pleasant dreams, baby Henry!

Smiling, Lux moved Georgina so that she was close to her chest and positioned in the best way for feeding. "I know you are impatient, but it isn't good to rush food or you will get a tummy ache." ...Did it even work that way for Griffins? She didn't really want to find out.
Bringing the bottle to Georgina's lips, she giggled at the eagerness she showed as she started to eat. "I told you not to rush it." But obviously Griffins didn't understand English so it was no surprise that the baby hadn't listened. Shaking her head, Lux began to hum a lullaby. Babies liked lullabies and they liked to be rocked. That part would have to wait until after the feeding though because it was good to do when the baby was going to sleep. She had been reading about babies in preparation of becoming an aunt because she wanted to do the best job possible.
After a little while it seemed that Georgina's eyelids were getting heavy. Yep, she was falling asleep. Carefully Lux put the bottle down so as not to wake her since that would be mean. Gently she began to rock Georgina while continuing to hum the lullaby. This lesson was so cool and she wanted to keep looking after baby animals. Could they do this more often please??

Norah hugged the swaddled griffin to her chest and gave it a squish. Not too tight, though, 'cause a baby grififn wouldn't be as fun if it was broken in half or something. How could she even THINK of such a horrible thing? She used one finger to pet its face and beamed down at the little dude as he tried to nip her finger. "You hungry, Georgie?" That's right. Georgie. The name was PERFECT, just like the itty bitty baby.
She shifted the griffin so it rested in the crook of her arm, and held her wand in one hand, and the bottle of raw meat in the other. Heh. A bottle of raw meat. That was just strange to think about. Pointing the wand at the meat on the inside, the fourth year cast "incendio!" and waited until the bottle grew warm in her hands before ending the spell. Alrighty. Now she had to...melt the meat? Liquify the meat? Whatever it was, Norah wasn't entirely sure how it was supposed to work, but Professor Thompson had said 'aguamenti' so it was worth a shot, no? Professors knew best, after all. "Aguamenti," she cast, still aiming at the now-warm meat in the bottle. Huh. It WORKED. She eyed the meat juice as it sloshed around in the bottle, before turning her attention back to little Georgie. "See what I do for you?" Meat juice. Honestly.

He got up so he could grab the things he needed to feed his griffin. The bottle seemed clean enough but why not taking precautions just in case it wasn't,"Scourgify!" Tadaa...clean baby bottle. Now put a whole lot of raw meat inside, melt it using the 'Incendio' spell, add in a bit of water, close the lid and gave it a little shake. Perfect! He hoped it was still warm enough to give to his little griffin.

Now that the right texture and temperature of the delicious carcassy goodness for Vaska had been achieved, it was Zhenya's job to feed the baby griffin, who seemed to be aware that there was food. Yes, Vaska, it would be coming soon.
Squark!
Squark!
"Shh," Zhenya said, calmingly, like she did when Teddy and Ava were n00borns. Zhenya smiled at the disgusting thought of regurgitating some of this ick into Vaska's mouth. Eww.
But Vaska was ALL UP in this carcass. Zhenya had been able to calm the griffin down enough so that she was controlling the dripping of the food into Vaska's mouth, rather than Vaska fighting her to get to the bottle. She didn't quite finish it, but most of it had gone by the time Vaska turned from the bottle. She must be full. Zhenya set the bottle down on the ground, and now it was time for her to go to sleep.
"I once was a little girl, and then I got my letter and I came to Hoggy-Worts. I had some warts on my nose but the hog made them disappear. Lullaby, lullaby, lullaby sweet griffin Vaska, close your eyes, dream of worts, and may Hogwarts be there for youuuuuu," Zhenya hummed to the griffin, making it up as she went on, watching as Vaska's eyes got droopy...
Droopy...
And closed.

Toby was not thrilled now that the next step was here. He sorta wanted to upchuck, to be perfectly honest, because he could smell the meat and it just made him think of all the things and yep yep yep nope. But baby Griffin. Think of the children, Toby.
After a moment or two of psyching himself up, Toby grimaced and just did it. Scooped up a sizable chunk of meat into the bottle, giving a little shake so it thudded to the bottom, seeing the carcass replenish itself from the corner of his eye. Well. At least that meant nothing was going to waste.
Lowkey retching a little bit, Toby retreated from the big ol' hunk of meat and went back to sit where he'd been before, nice and out of the way. Griffin could clearly smell the meat too, except where Toby was grossed out by it, she was eagerly trying to get to it, making it all the more difficult to keep hold of here.
"Hold your Hippogriffs, Griffin." Ha. Hahahaha. That was funny. HippoGRIFFS. GRIFFIN. Hah. Haha. Heh. Uhh, ahem. So anyway. This part WAS tricky, mainly because Griffin was so determined to get to the meat and was generally being a total wriggle-butt.
Toby did his best to keep Griffin held (it was impossible to keep her to totally still) in the crook of his arm, just like a baby, and used his free wand hand to point said wand into the bottle. "Incendio."
... Huh. Melting meat. That was weeeirrrrd. Might have been cool if it didn't make Toby want to hurl. "Aguamenti."
It was perhaps even more difficult to get the lid on while holding Griffin, as she began wriggling even MORE. Probably the heat had made the smell even stronger, and she was so curious and eager to try it, and likely very hungry. A slight struggle ensued, and eventually Toby had managed to get the lid on the bottle, except that Griffin had also managed to get halfway to freedom and was eagerly trying to claw her way forward to get to the bottle that Toby had to now hold out at arm's length.
And one of her wings was hitting him in the face. Repeatedly.
"Griffin. Please." Toby tried to reason with the baby, but eventually resolved to the fact that he was going to have to quickly re-wrap her in the blanket. So he did that, setting the bottle down and making quick work of wrapping up the griffin, who seemed less than pleased that she was back in her blanket prison cocoon. "It's okay, Griff, look." Toby held up the bottle and shook it from side to side a little bit, to mix it all up. It was still warm. "This is for you, I promise. See?"
He held it out for her. Griffin squawked happily at him and latched onto the bottle.

Now that she had her little bundle of cuddly baby griffin settling down and the bottle in her hand was all mushy soft she was ready to move on to the next step.
FEEDING TIME!
Hady was quite sure Charlie would like this part very much. He already was watching the bottle in her hand like he knew exactly what it was. Maybe he did. She wasn't a griffin nor had she ever worked with a baby griffin so there was noway for her to know whether or not Charlie knew what this bottle meant. Giving it one more little shake to make sure it was smooth enough she held the bottle close to his mouth. Instantly Charlie took to the bottle like a fish to water and began eating/drinking happily. "Easy there Charlie, I know it's yummy food but I don't want you to get sick," Hady laughed softly shaking her head a little bit at the baby.
Before long the bottle was completely empty and Charlie's eyes were drooping shut. Gently setting the bottle down at her side Hady took her little friend up into her arms properly and slowly began the same rocking motion she'd used earlier to calm him. A little bit of continued humming didn't hurt as well. What the song was she was humming the young teen hadn't a clue but she knew she'd heard it a long time ago. Not that the tune mattered at all right now, it was just the fact that what she was doing was working.
As Charlie fell into a nice comfortable sleep Hady watched him with a tiny smile on her face. Was there anyway she could keep him? Please?

As soon as she had hold of the bottle, it seemed as though Griffin was putting all her energy into getting the food out of it. She reminded Toby of himself, kinda. Lots of energy, super curious, always moving around and getting distracted, but set down some food and all bets were off. Speed-eating probably might have happened if the mechanics of the bottle weren't specifically keeping that from happening.
"You're a hungry one, Griff," he said to her, watching her guzzle down her liquid meat and idly rocking back and forth to help soothe her. It was funny, because you wouldn't have thought that a beak and a baby bottle would work together, but Griffin MADE it work, determined as she was. As he watched her, a question occurred to Toby, and he looked up and over towards Professor Thompson.
"Sir," he said, and WOULD have raised his hand, but they were both busy. "Are Griffins mammals or birds?" He'd been wondering, 'cause of the mention of milk earlier and everything, and some other thoughts that had crossed his mind. "'Cause they're half of one, and half of the other. So... are they classed as one or the other or both or maybe neither and something else entirely? Do all magical creatures even fit into those classifications or is it different when they're magic?" 'Cause now he thought about it... that was potentially a thing. Maybe he'd look into it later.
Looking back down at Griffin, Toby noted that, though she was still staring right at him, her eyes were starting to close. Skjdhskklsdksdhs, she was so cute. But she needed to stay awake 'til the bottle was done, 'cause he wanted to make sure she was full. Toby used his little finger on the hand that held the bottle to softly caress the feathers on her face by her beak, which seemed to wake her up a little bit. She drank from the bottle again with renewed vigour, and then all too soon her eyes began closing again. This time Toby let it happen, because the meat was almost all gone. He smiled at the baby griffin, removing the bottle from her beak once he noticed she was finished, and sat there snuggling her in his arms, just like he did with Curtis. A few pets of her feathers later, and a lot of humming, and Griffin was soon fast asleep.
Guh. Too cute. Couldn't handle it.

Juggling a meat-filled bottle and his wand while trying to keep a young baby griffin wrapped up and calm was certainly not an easy task. After finally settling Hiccup down once more, Ben chanced doing the magical spells on the food that was needed per Professor Thompson's instructions. "Incendio..." he cast first, his wand tip inside the bottle to focus it on the meat rather than the exterior.
An "Aguamenti" soon followed, the sixth year hoping he was doing it all right to make the consistancy good for his charge to eat from. He was watching the spells work, but was it enough? The water spell cancelled out once there was enough within the bottle, not about to let it overflow, especially all over the two of them. Spilled ink had been bad enough in his list of distractions. Ben then recapped the bottle and momentarily observed the mixture.
Only one way to find out.

Ilia waited still and patient in almost a statue like way until one curious little baby toddled over to her. She waited as it nipped at her, her stoic expression becoming warm and tender as it did so. She lightly scratched its head , gently petting it until she could pick it up as the professor had shown them. They could name them......but that would only ensure the girls complete and total attachment to the little being in her arms. She would do it anyways. "I think I'll call you Sindri, what do you think little one?" She spoke to it gently and calmly as she summoned a blanket over to them with "Accio.". Wrapping the little baby up to warm it was slightly more challenging as it was trying to nip and claw in curiosity while she did so. "Shh shh little one." She managed to calm her enough to get a good hold around her, still sitting she was using one arm and her legs to gently keep the baby contained.

Bottle in hand, Kate turned her attention to her Griffin, who was still bundled up like a little baby and waiting for its bottle. "I think I did this the right way," she said. "Melted and in liquid form, just the way you supposedly like it." She lifted the bottle toward the Griffin's mouth. "Well, eat up!" she said, and on that note, she closed in the gap between the bottle and the Griffin's mouth.
The creature began slurping away at the disgusting mixture. "Cooked meat is good, too," she suggested to it. "There's hamburgers, steak, meatloaf..." She trailed off, knowing the creature didn't understand a word she was saying. As the bottle grew emptier by the second, Kate saw the Griffin slowly begin to flutter its eyes. "Goodnight," she told it.

One-handedly, Cutty lifted the bottle up to eye level to measure the portion of meat he'd put into it. He looked over at Phlegon and then again at the portion before deciding to add a bit more of the meat to the bottle. Placing it somewhere away from the flammable bedding, Cutty took out his wand and fired away at it.
"Incendio." He watched as the meat, a fatty cut apparently, smothered and clung to the walls of the bottle. The scent of it was pretty strong and the baby griffin in his arms began to squirm and make noises. Realizing he was now being timed by the creature he tilted his head against the creatures body to try to calm it as he placed his wand above the bottle's opening. "Aguamenti." He was basically making a scouse.

Now that Brutus was nice and snug it was time to get some food in his belly. What was better to eat then some nice raw meat? Obviously nothing because that's what the professor said they needed to eat. She couldn't exactly feed them with a dirt bottle, could she? Of course not. What kind of griffin mama would should be? A bad one.
"Scourgify!" Clean bottle. Raw meat was stuffed into the bottle. Apparently that alone wasn't good enough. She couldn't have her baby griffin choking.
"Incendio." Melted meat was where it was at, yo. It didn't take long for the spell to do what she needed it to do. A little water and a baby griffin would be getting some sweet nutrients. "Aguamenti." Shake, shake, shake.
"Ready for some melted raw meat, Brutus?" Only maybe it was slightly cooked since she had to heat it up to melt the meat. Either way it was dinner time.

Norah sat beaming down at Georgie until he gave a loud squawk. Oh right, the little baby was hungry. "Your fault for being cute." Heh. Apparently baby griffins' cuteness could be VERY distracting. Not that all cuteness could be distracting, but this was extra distracting. She hoped Professor Thompson knew that she was going to have a very hard time saying goodbye to the little baby. She'd even cry if she was still a baby herself, which she WASN'T because fourteen, remember? That was a lot of years.
She shifted Georgie in her arms again, bringing the bottle of warm meat juice up to his little beak. "There ya go," she whispered. The griffin opened it's beak and nipped her finger before taking the end of the bottle in it's mouth. She watched with big grin as he slurped down the meat juice stuff, glad it was him and not her 'cause that stuff looked capital G Gross. Oh, well. It was probably better than vegetable juice. Norah looked him in his little eyes as he kept going at the bottle. What a cutie. Did he love her back? He loved her back. She'd decided, and she was the mum so she got to decide. So there. "You're my favorite baby ever." Don't tell Sebby and Marcel, though, 'cause actual brothers tended to like to be the favorite.

What a trooper this one was in his arms. It seemed to be just about any little creature Javier held in his hands reminded him of when he first held Lala and his youngest son, Curtis. The Griffin was still sucking away at the meaty drink in the bottle. It looked like he did give it a little too much. Oh well. Better to overfeed than underfeed in his mind. Occasionally the Professor looked up to see the others interactions. Seem to be so far, so good right now.
"Sir," he said, and WOULD have raised his hand, but they were both busy. "Are Griffins mammals or birds?" What a great question, "They're a hybrid of both. So one could argue they're more of a mammal with the exceptional eyesight and intelligence a bird creature typically has." However, "A lot of magical creatures do face this predicament which helped invoke the development on the official classification for Magical Creatures. Adult Griffins are classified as Beasts officially with the XXXX rating after careful deliberation." He could go more into it, if there looked to be enough interest from the others.

Dinner time. Too bad there wasn't a bell she could ring to properly get this griffin feeding going. THAT would probably lose her some house points, and that was never fun. She didn't have the best track record with Thompson, and she was trying to be totally mature.
Ahem. Trying here.
AJ beamed down at her little Brutus and gave him what she believed were googly love eyes. In all actuality they probably bordered more on creepy and bugged out, but who was really keeping track of that?
"Here comes the train Brut!" Oh, it wasn't going to stop there. No. She needed a little bit more of the dramatic affect.
"Chugga... Chugga... CHO CHOOO!" She wasn't too loud this time. In fact none of the animals seemed to be offended by her this go round.
The bottle was put into the hungry griffins mouth. This was so precious. He eagerly started to chug the contents down.

...and that was to try feeding Hiccup with the bottle.
Putting his wand back in his pocket, Ben had a free hand once more. He moved his left arm to slip around the wrapped up Griffin, gingerly lifting it up as the creature was nibbling on the edge of the blanket. "Hungry...?" he absently asked as he tried to settle his charge into a better position so he could feed him, chancing a glance at others to see how they were doing it. "I've got something that will taste better."
Meat better than blanket....or hair.
"Open up..." Benny instructed, gingerly nudging the nub of the bottle towards Hiccup's beak, using the gap as the griffin squawked again as an opening. That seemed to work well as the creature closed his mouth around the intrusion in an attempt to keep it out, only to take possession of it. "There you go...squeeze on that." Then the food should make it into the griffin's mouth to feed it. Hiccup certainly was calmer now and relaxed in his hold as his right hand held the bottle in the right position.

The bottle slipped out of her hand and out of baby Brutus's mouth. Chaos ensued. Sweet baby unicorns did her little griffin get feisty when he was made to stop eating. "All right. All right. It was an accident." Keep your blanket on... AJ was fixing it. Only then he really did kick out of his blanket.
Good grief. Baby griffins were demanding. "I'm going to get all nice and snug again, and we are going to resume your feeding." Yeah, that wasn't a request... more like she was letting him know what was going to go down. Okay?
Gripping the blanket once more, she fixed Brutus back nicely. No blood or tears were needed. Only sweat. Picking up the bottle she slid it back into his mouth. "There. There." Better? No more drama? One could surely hope.
AJ continued to coo at the creature while looking at Brutus like he was her first born. She couldn't wait to have this sort of experience all the time. Well, she hoped babies didn't get abandoned, but she was glad to be the one to help them if that were the case.

Alright. So now that, that was taken care of... Y'know, this baby business was a lot harder than he thought. Especially considering that he was only a fourth of the way through with this task. He still had to clean the bottle, melt the meat, AND finally feed it. So much to do. Zander had always wanted kids... But this kind of had him making a few second guesses. Riiiiight. He was only a sixth year after all. Still had some time.
Not gonna even think about human babies.
He had a bottle to clean.
It was quite the task trying to keep Dory (his Griffin) to stay still in the blanket. But after struggling for a few minutes, Zander finally got him to stay relatively put. Well, enough so that he could work with the bottle anyways. "Scourgify!" And now that looked clean enough, so the next part was the meat right?
OI, STAY STILL!!
Right. Zander had this under control. Totally under control.

Okay. So now was the spellwork. Marigold kept hold of Godric by wrapping her right elbow around the body of the griffin and holding the bottle in her left hand. She pointed her wand to the inside of the bottle carefully, murmuring sweet words into Godric's ear (or where an ear would be, she couldn't see one) to calm him down. "It's okay, darling, food is coming, my sweetie."
"Incendio!" she said, then quickly followed it with an "Aguamenti!" It seemed good, but she shook the bottle a little to stir it up.
While stirring, she raised her foot (both hands were occupied) to catch the attention of Javy. "I'm curious about Toby's question. Do griffins lay eggs, or do they have live births? And what about the bone structure, because I know that birds have hollow bones to be able to fly, but do griffins as well? And can griffins produce their own milk?"
Lots of questions over here.

So basically they had to FEEL their griffin to determine gender? Tia really tried to keep serious as Professor Thompson explained about feeling for a stub. Couldn't she just LOOK instead? Surely it was rather personal and they were strangers practically. Feeling more tickles of the griffin at her ankles she smiled; not strangers enough for the creature to nibble at her skin.
"Alright, little guy, let's see you out..." She picked it up and looked underneath. She didn't see anything, but maybe she ought to feel it as the professor suggested. With one hand still holding it, she used her other hand to reach around quickly and AHA she had a boy! And she might have felt the stub too long (even if it was only a second) as she felt the little guy squirm in her hands and out of her hands back to nibbling at the ankles. REALLY? So he was allowed to touch her ankles, but she wasn't allowed to touch him? Hardly fair. Did she have to name him because honestly only one male name came to mind when she thought of a griffin and really she didn't want to think about him.
Ignoring the naming part - for now - it was time to summon a blanket so he would be comfortable. Easy enough. "Accio blanket," the fifth year called out, a striped blue and white blanket zooming overhead. She caught it and used it to pick the griffin up again, this time wrapping it in the blanket. "There, there," she cooed and smiled, holding it like a newborn infant.

Marsha knew that next she had to get the bottle ready to feed Cadfael, couldn’t very well have a dirty bottle. That was how germs and bacteria were spread. She knew all about that from Alis’ bottles, they were always washed in majorly powerful disinfectant and water so hot that she couldn’t touch it… and then because her Mam was funny, scourgified anyway.
Silly Mammy… but at least Alis was happy and safe.
Just like Cadfael would be. If only she could finally get her wand and her magic to co-operate and help her scourgify something. So far, she hadn’t been successful in potions, opting to clean everything twice in the sink. Today would be the day… well, at least it could be. Maybe. With a bottle resting just in front of her, and Cadfael wrapped happily in hollow her crossed legs made and her fingers petting at his head, she tried. ”Scourgify.”
Nope. Nothing. Sigh.
”Skourjify! Scurgofy. Scoorgify.” Siiiigh. She nibbled on her bottom lip, looking around to see if the Professor was free or if any of the older students could help her out. She just wanted to make sure that it would be safe for Cadfael to drink from. Why wasn’t she better at magic yet? ”Scourgeefy!” Nope.
”Um… Excuse me? Could someone clean this for me? I can’t manage.” SIGH. She wouldn’t cry though, ‘cause she was holding a BABY GRIFFFFIN!!!!

Alright. So with the bottle cleaned up and Griffin (semi)-under-control, it meant time to do the actual feeding. This was gonna be the hardest part. Zander had a feeling. Taking in a deep breath, the Gryffindor began stuffing the meat into the baby bottle. Kind of gross. But also a part of life, apparently. So he tried not to make any faces. Also, it'd probably discourage the Griffin from wanting to eat it if Zander made a fuss. So see, he was being considerate here.
Holding out his wand, Griffin still in his arms, Zander pointed and muttered a quick "Incendio," and let it go on for just enough to heat up the meat for melting purposes. "Finite!" Then he had to do the water thing, which was kind of weird... And very unappetizing. But if that's what Thompson wanted?
"Aguamenti!" he filled it up a little bit, then swished the bottle around. Man, this looked horrible. Couldn't the Griffins just eat some smushed up fruit or something? Wasn't that what normal baby formula was made of? Poor Dory, didn't even know what other kind of good foods were out there.

Now for cleaning the bottle, and based on how some of her classmates were struggling with the task, it looked like it wasn't exactly the easiest bit they'd do today. Dot summoned one of the bottles too, before dropping her wand into her lap so she could struggle with the top of the bottle.
The moment she let go of Lorenzo, he balked and tried to climb her. Not to go around her or over her, as if there was some special destination in mind, but he actually tried to get up in her lap and back in her arms. They were bonded for life, they were.
"You, sir, are not being a gentleman." She got the top off the bottle and slung an arm back around him. The actual cleansing of the bottle was happening right by Lorenzo's beak, but at least it was happening. "Scourgify." And clean.
One of her classmates wasn't having the same kind of success, though, and Dot waved the girl over. "I can help you. Drag that griffin over here."

OH! Oh. One of the other girls was going to help her. Whee.
Figuring if she was moving once, she might as well grab some meat at the same time. She wasn’t too bothered by the idea of meat anyway. So, buddling Cadfael up, she put the bottle under her arm and took (what she assumed as the right amount) of meat in her hand. ”Shhh. It’s okay Cadfael, we’re just getting help so I can feed you… See.”
Then she moved over to the other redhead. How cool was that? Hehe.
Sitting down again, she put Cadfael back in the same position and he stopped wringling almost instantly. Hmm, apparently he was comfortable there. Placing the meat on her spare knee, she held the bottle out for… she thought she was called Dot? Maybe. She might have heard Professor Culloden say that.
”I still haven’t managed to get my scourgify charm working… and while Professor Maddos just helped me with my fires - … Well I haven’t heard of augamenti before.” She sighed, pouting a little. She didn’t like having to ask for so much help - but Griffins. Cadfael was making everything better.
Looking at the older girl, she tilted her head a little. ”Thank you for helping me.” She smiled. ”Your griffin is cute, what did you call it?” ‘cause her Mama had taught her to be polite… and well, manners.

"Spells are hard," Dot nodded with great sympathy as she shoveled raw meat into her bottle. It was a little gross, but Lorenzo seemed really excited about the possibility of being fed. More than excited, since he was licking at her fingers with his little rough tongue. "Sir!"
That was not polite.
"Hold that bottle out to me and I'll Scourgify it," Dot juggled the wand and her bottle so she could clean the girl's bottle. "Scourgify. That should do it. Now you put the meat in and and since you're good at the fire spell, you can do that yourself. I'll help you with the water if you need it. Those are all spells you wanna perfect in your down time, okay?"
Speaking of which, Dot quickly heated her own bottle, wrinkling her nose at the smell of the meat and at the fact that Lorenzo was still licking at her fingers.

Zander was exhausted. If this is what having kids was like, well then it was a good thing he was still too young for that parenthood life. He didn't want it quite yet. But, he felt like he was still managing to do a pretty good job. All things considered, at least. Especially when his Griffin happened to be the least cooperative little creature out there. Merlin, why wouldn't it just stay still for maybe ONE MINUTE???
Zander tried not to show his frustration though. Didn't need the Griffin to start crying or anything. Did Griffins do that? He wasn't actually sure.
But not even gonna think about it. He was trying to put this guy to sleep. Feeding tiiiiiiiime. The Prefect held the bottle towards the Griffin, yet the creature kept refusing? What the heck? It was FOOD. Didn't everyone love food? Man. Of course Zander couldn't quite blame his Griffin 'cause this meat juice looked absolutely nasty. But it was the only choice at the moment.
"Here look, I'll eat some of it too," all lies by the way. "Mmmm.... So good," he faked eating some from the bottle, in hopes that it'd convince the Griffin to want some as well. Wait a minute. It worked??? That actually worked???? Merlin. Zander was more brilliant than he had thought. Totally had this father business down. Ah yeah, who would've known!?
Finally the Griffin stopped it's kicking and squirming. It was focusing on eating now. Which was absolutely brilliant by the way. Zander could get used to this. And look, it's eyes.... Merlin, were they getting droopy, or were those Zander's eyes? Maybe a bit of both. 'Cause watching the Griffin start to fall asleep was making Zander Adair want to fall asleep.

With her raw meat in the bottle and Genevieve finally burrowing in her lap, Sophie watched the others try to liquefy their meat before she made any attempt at doing theirs. So... just incendio to melt it... and aguamenti to follow? THAT would make the meat liquid, instead of just cooking it? Welllllllllllllll... okay.
She was uncertain about this, but it was working for other people, soooo... might as well just give it a go.
Grateful that her unruly griffin was finally seeming to settle down and make itself comfortable in her lap, Sophie held her bottle out to the side and squinted suspiciously at the meat inside her bottle as if it was going to jump out and bite her before casting "Incendio!" inside.
How long was she supposed to wait? She wasn't sure, but she watched the meat and could feel it start to heat up - she didn't want it to cook and become a slab of meet in there, so she cast "Aguamenti!" into her bottle, watching the pure water trickle around the meat and settle inside.
Capping the bottle, Sophie shook it up to mix the meat and the water better, trying to get the meat to liquefy as best as possible and be of a better consistency. All the while, Genevieve watched her with eager eyes, occasionally digging her claws into Sophie's leg as it tried to make an eager lunge for the bottle. "No, Genevieve, y'gotta wait. S'almost done." The griffin didn't understand, and every now and then she would try again to steal the bottle from the Ravenclaw.

Having decided to take the sitting-down-and-waiting-for-a-griffin-to-choose-you method, Jenna was sitting there for a few minutes before one properly came over. A few had kind of walked over to look at her before quickly scurrying away to be picked by others, but she was patient, and now one had walked over and stayed there to check her out.
She couldn't help but smile as she reached a hand out to it - which it nipped at, so maybe this one was the one. Jenna carefully picked it - her, apparently - up and set her on her lap even as the little griffin wriggled around excitedly. What to name her though?
Jenna thought about it carefully as the professor explained the rest of their task. Get a blanket, clean bottle, melt food, add water, feed griffin...not too much to do, and hopefully not too hard if her griffin decided to cooperate.
Which it so far was, but it was still wiggling about and clearly wanting to climb all over her. Better get that blanket then.
"Accio blanket." And fortunately, since she had practiced this spell numerous times before now, it came almost instantly.
"Now, hold still, c'mon..." she mumbled as she tried to maneuver it around the excitable griffin - who still needed a name.
Somehow, as Jenna was wrapped the blanket around her, the name Lightning kept popping into her head. And it seemed kind of fitting? "Lightning, c'mon now." And finally the little one seemed to settle down, and the blanket was wrapped around her.
Maybe she liked her name? Hopefully so.

"Alright Buddy, we're going to get you warm and comfy. Then it will be time to eat." Janelle believed in explaining things to animals and little kids. Even if they didn"t really understand. Sometimes they could get the message just by your voice.
Before she could carry out the next step, she needed a blanket. Janelle took out her wand and said, "Accio blanket." To her delight, the blanket made its way to her with no difficulty. She showed it to the griffin and said, "See, it's a nice blanket."
Janelle tried to speak in a soothing voice, as she carefully placed the blanket onto Buddy. "It's OK. You'll like it. it's nice and soft." Buddy gave a brief protest before he settled down and accepted the blanket. "Good boy. Now it's time to eat, but first I have to prepare your food." Hopfully Buddy was more patient than Janelle because this might take a while.

Okay. Now came the CUTE PART!!!! FEEEEEDING. Godric seemed hungry - he took after his adoptive mother (Marigold, obviously) and so she cradled him as he craned his lil head to try and reach the bottle.
"Hold on, little guy," she said, then moved the bottle to Godric's beak. Godric ate greedily, far too eagerly for a baby who was eating a reheated frozen raw meat concoction, but who was she to judge. The griffin finished off the entire bottle in an obscenely short time for such a tiny dude, but nevertheless Marigold dropped the bottle near her feet then bounced the baby griffin gently.
It took time, but Godric's eyes were opening and shutting at increasingly slow speeds. Marigold was expediting the sleeping process by humming Spella Luna's lullaby cover of History of Tragic, originally by Glitter Dragon. Sure enough, Marigold's humming helped, and the lil guy shut his eyes for what would be a peaceful slumber. CUTIE!GODRIC.

Marsha nodded her head, agreeing with this statement. ”They really are. I’m practising as much as I can in my free time but some of the spells we need in class aren’t even in my textbook to practise them outside of classes… but hopefully if I can get the spells and charms in my textbook down, then the next ones I get will have the ones to make some classes easier.” She hoped anyway.
Aww, he was cute hehe. As she held the bottle out, she gave another smile of thanks to Dot for the help. Okay, so the meat went into the bottle now…. That was easy enough, and screw the lid back on. THAT wasn’t as easy, since y’know one handed… but she got there with a little help from her ankles and another ”Shhh, darlin’” to Cadfael.
Once the bottle was once again settled on the floor in front of her, the Welsh girl focused on saying the fire charm just like Professor Quiggley had learnt her too. Incendio! Yay, fire. She looked at Dot with another small, ‘I’m sorry!’ smile, “Can you cast the second charm or spell or whatever for me? Does it create water or liquid or…?” The redhead had no idea what it did… only that it must affect the way the meat was made from a solid thing to liquid of some form.
As she watched the older girl rock her spellwork, she rocked Cadfael slightly… he looked so peaceful. Except for the constant looking and searching for the bottle with his head.

Janelle held onto Buddy for dear life. He was not going to get away from her without a fight, but hopefully it would not come to that. So far, it seemed that the griffin was on his best behavior. That was, after his initial moment of feistiness.
The next part was going to be a little tricky. Holding Buddy with one hand, Jannelle took a bottle. Then she set it down and took out her wand. Just to make sure the bottle was clean, Janelle pointed her wand at it and said, "Scourgify". One could never be too safe where babies were concerned. Once her bottle was ready, Janelle prepared to tackle the icky part. She could stand many things, but raw meat was not her favorite thing to handle. Unfortunately, Janelle really did not have a choice. Buddy needed to be fed so she sucked it up and grabbed some of the meat and placed it in the bottle.
Holding her breath to keep from gagging, Janelle got ready for the next step. "Focus on Buddy, Focus on Buddy", she said to herself. As long as she kept that in mind, she was good to go. "I'm going to let you go now Buddy, but I need you to behave. Stay near me while I fix your food." Janelle hoped that Buddy was listening because she needed both hands to get the food ready.

Even with Lightning the baby griffin was all wrapped up, Jenna had to continue to do everything one-handed, as she was trying to keep her grip on the little creature. It wasn't wiggling around as much, but it definitely didn't want to keep still for long, so she'd need to somehow work fast too to get it fed and sleepy.
So she grabbed a bottle to set in front of her then pulled out her wand again to Scourgify it. That was simple enough. Now to get the meat...
It was kind of gross, honestly. Only kind of though, since she figured it could probably be much worse, depending on the animal. So, carefully, keeping one arm tightly around the wiggling blanket-wrapped griffin, she moved to scoop some of the meat into the bottle. It took a couple scoops to get a proper amount into the bottle, but finally it seemed like enough.
So onto the next step.

Alright time for feeding time for the baby griffin. It was too adorable and it finally trusted Kace enough to come over. I mean that's progress right? Now like Thompson said he needed a blanket. He got his wand over because he was the lazy wizard and he just wanted to use magic. He would walk over to get a blanket when he was home but until then...."ACCIO Blanket!" he called out and then the blanket zoomed over to him. Perfect.
Now to wrap the Griffin. This shouldn't be too hard right. Well Kace thought wrong. I mean he had a squirmer and he wouldn't hold still. He had to get up from his seat and chase him around. He didn't wanna scare the little guy. "Alright come on little fella.." he said laying the blanket down till the Griffin was sniffing and plopped down right on the blanket. Kace cautiously folded it and then wrapped it in it. It seemed to be sleepy and comfy because he saw it closing his eyes. Well I guess it had a lot of activity running away from him huh?
Now onto feeding time.

Okay, bottle time. She summoned a bottle ,"Accio." over to herself and placed it by her feet. "Scourgify", bacteria or debris in a baby bottle was a no go, even though she had never cared for a baby human before she knew about it with creatures. Alright, time to fill it, while doing her best to keep her baby calm and contained........which meant several pauses of rocking and shh and sweet talk / singing..."Sindri Sindri, feathered ball of joy.....Sindri Sindri nipping at my hand like its a toy...." ...also letting it nip at the hand of the arm around it. They couldn't do real damage, but she wouldn't be surprised if the baby griffin left baby bruises later. She felt bad for the creature, not having maternal affection and attention, all alone and having some strange creature (them) that didn't even speak the same language caring for you. She wondered if they could keep caring for them after this class.....maybe a bit every day for the school year. If the professor didn't mention it, she would be asking. She knew her best friend Henric would like the idea as well.

Jean was doing really good job eating. Cinna was very proud that she had gotten a very squirmy Jean settled down enough to eat something. But then again who wouldn't turn down food. The only thing was Jean seemed to be gobbling down to the way to fast. "Whoa, Jean. Slow down there." She moved the bottle away from Jean's beak for a moment. The griffin needed to slow down a bit.
"No one is going to take your bottle away I promise." She rocked the baby and contiuned feeding it. Jean ate the rest of her food slowly. Good, the griffin wasn't going to choke on his food. Cinna really didn't want to clean up griffin vomit. That would not be fun. But this, this was fun. It was justs like taking care of her little brother and sister. Jean finished her bottle finally after deciding to eat it slower.
Cinna started rocking Jean. Now she had to get Jean to go to sleep. This might be the hardest part of the whole assignment. The feeding turned out to be easy, easier than she thought. Which was great. But it looked like rocking the little griffin wasn't cutting it. So cinna started Humming a song that her nana used to sing to her. Cinna was NOT going to sing. Jean needed to go to sleep, not be scared for life from her singing.
Finally Jean was sleeping, or at least she had her eyes closed and not moving. Now she had two big problems, one she was sleeping herself and two how was she supposed to get up and move. She wasn't, so Cinna sat there with the sleeping Griffin in her arms.
Awww how cute.

With Dot’s help, Marsha easily managed to get her formula ready for Cadfael. Rubbing the nub of the bottle up against his beak, she managed to get him to realise that she was offering his yummy food… not that you woul catch her anywhere near it unless it saw a girdle first though… She much prefered her meat cooked, thank you very much.
However, as she sat quietly watching Cadfael “drink” his “food”, she smiled. Yeah, this reminded her of helping to feed Alis - though she couldn’t decide who was cuter and would certainly never mention it or bring it up at all to Alis in the future. Somehow she didn’t think she would like hearing that a baby Griffin was cuter than her…
However, by the time they were 9/10s of the way down the bottle, Cadfael was only lazily sucking on the bottle; not even really drinking the milk anymore. Wit ha small smile, she noted the action and figured he would be asleep soon.

Grayson wasn't sure how to feel about this. About any of this. Ever since the topic of what a baby needs popped up, the boy had been sitting there, as silent as ever. Don't worry, Thompson, he had still been paying attention. Kinda.
When was the end of the lesson?
Not yet, apparently, because they still had an activity to take part in. The boy glanced down at his baby griffin, a weird feeling settling in. Yeah. Whatever. The sooner he got this done, the sooner he could leave, right? Right. This was only being done for a class, anyways.
"Accio blanket!" A blanket came zooming over towards the seventh year who caught it up and............. hesitated. He kept his eyes on the griffin, who chose that opportunity to give him its own version of the puppy dog eyes. Swear to freaking Merlin, this was gonna be a loooooong activity.
Reaching over, Grayson carefully wrapped the blanket around the baby griffin before proceeding to pick it up and holding it as if hr was holding a baby.

Time to fill the bottle. "Accio." She summoned some meat over and filled the bottle about two thirds of the way full with the carcass. Yummy.....It was not probably the best idea to do it one handed, but she didn't want to chase her baby around once she was done. So instead.....she tried mommy multi-tasking. Which meant, her legs were corralling Sindri and her left arm stayed around the little feathered ball of joy. Her hand on that arm was petting and distracting and being nipped at.....while her right hand held her wand and was used to prep the bottle.
"Incendio" She aimed the tip of her wand just inside the bottle, watching as the meat began to melt, the somewhat sweet smell churning her stomach a little. "Aguamenti." She shot the stream of water into the mess of melted flesh. "Finite." She stopped just before it was most of the way full, she needed some room to shake it all together properly. Ilia tucked her wand away and placed the top on the bottle securely. "Shh shh its coming baby. That little beaky is so active..." She cooed at the little griffin soothingly as she shook the hot mess together with her right hand.

Now onto getting the baby bottle. He still held his Griffin with one hand to keep him cuddled, he got the baby bottle with the other hand and placed it on the ground and got his wand from his robes and said the spell, "Scourgify!" and he pointed his wand at the inside of the bottle and it seemed clean to him. Ughh he needed to let it go since he needed to make the food. He set down his Griffin Freddie and he hoped he would come back. Come back pleassee? He needed to heat up the meat and liquify it. Well that made sense since it was baby food. He went to the box and scooped up some carcass. After that he casted, "Incendio!" and then it melted for him. Then he needed to cast the water charm and he casted, "Aquamenti!" and then it liquified. Then he poured it into the bottle and it seemed messy. Errrghhh.
Now to find the little guy. Where was he?

Sophie kept shaking up her bottle as she watched some of the others - Tobes and Zander were cute with their griffins, as were Mari and Norah. Cutty caring for something so small was weird, though, and... was Dot calling her griffin "sir"? Hahahaha. Hilarious, she was.
Her bottle seemed ready to go now, though, and Sophie readjusted the blanket around Genevieve. "I know you're excited, but let's take it easy, 'kay? Don't want y'throwing up on me 'cause y'devoured this too fast." Genevieve was squirming eagerly and biting at her hand holding the bottle, and Sophie went ahead to tip the top toward the griffin and let it devour its meal.
And so it did.
While the griffin enjoyed the liquefied meat from the bottle, Sophie watched Javy and Tobes interact with admiration. The mammal-bird question was a good one, and Javy's answer was insightful, too. Hybrid creatures were mega cool, and she wondered what other kind of hybrids people could safely make a reality these days. Seemed like a dangerous and almost terrible thing to do to a creature, though. But... the griffins seemed to be doing okay. Lion and eagle combined...
Hey, that was like Gryffindor and Ravenclaw coming together. A smile briefly graced Sophie's features, and she glanced over at Zander at the thought-- until Sophie realized the bottle in her hand was empty, and Genevieve was turning around in Sophie's lap, readjusting her position before settling back down under the blanket and seeming to be ready rest for awhile, all done with the food.
Full tummies would do that to you. Sophie knew all about that, and she gave the sleepy griffin happy cuddles.

Once it was a blended soft, warm meat smoothie, she checked the temperature to make certain that it was warm but not scalding. Sindri had been watching intently....perhaps she had already imprinted on the bottle. That would make things easier. She re-wrapped her excited ball of feathers up in the blanket and smiled down at her. "Its yummy yum time baby girl."
Taking the bottle she offered it to the little griffin in her lap. At first the baby just sniffed at it, but when she decided to nip at it Ilia lightly squeezed just a little into her tiny open beak. Excitement.....that was the only word to describe Sindri's reaction. She squawked and eagerly nipped at the bottle wanting more. Ilia couldn't help but laugh a little as the eager ball of feathers frantically nipped for more and more.
It took a little time, but she slowly fed her baby the entire bottle a bit at a time so she didn't take it down too fast. Once the bottle was consumed, the baby was very calm in her blanket nest on the fourteen year olds lap. She saw the baby slowly start to seem tired, droopy little eyes. Her little beak clicking as she settled against Ilia. Her heart was stolen, hook line and sinker. She was head over heels in maternal love and cradled the baby against her, smiling in awe as she caressed Sindri's feathers. She really hoped the professor would let them care for them more than just this class.

"Now it was time to "cook" Buddy's meal. "Incendio", Janelle said, as she moved her wand. Peeking into the bottle, she saw that the meat had indeed melted. Somehow that did not make it look any less nasty. Trying to ignore that, Janelle followed up with with the next spell in the process. "Aguamenti" "That should do it", Janelle thought to herself. The liquified meat seemed to stay in its liquid form so she must have done the spell correctly.
Janelle turned back to Buddy, ready to give him his food. The little griffin had wandered off a bit, but he was close enough to be easily caught. Janelle walked over to him slowly. She certainly did not want to scare him off, but his meat-shake was cooling she couldn't waste too much time.
Fortunately, Buddy let Janelle approach him without difficulty. She had almost expected him to run away, but he did not. Maybe holding the bottle of meat out in front of her wasn't such a bad idea. "Buddy, time for din-din. The griffin must have been hungry because catching him was easier than Janelle expected. Once she was close enough, Janelle was able to hold Buddy once again. She directed the bottle toward his mouth and he went for it. The griffin was hungry because he drank the meat like it was going out of style. "Whoa there boy. Take your time. There's plenty." Janelle felt like the pround mama watching her baby eat.

Kace had his bottle all warmed up for the little guy and now he had ran off. Well this was just perfect. Man this Griffin didn't like him at all did he? Come on Freddie just come for your food. As he was turning his head around he caught a glimpse of him. He was out of his blanket and looking at him. He held out his bottle and got the blanket and baited the guy. This was what he did on the farm, he baited his animals so they could get into the cages. "Come on..." he muttered quietly. It was walking slowly stretching its legs and the lure of the food was too strong and it smelled the bottle and began to sip it. Kace sighed in relief and was pleased Freddie trusted him enough to let him feed him.
He looked around while feeding Griffin and saw some were having success. He needed to cuddle his Griffin in the blanket he felt him shivering. He folded the blanket and he seemed to be warm and toasty feeding on the bottle. You know this was kind of nice.

Almost done, really. Just this step and then it was feeding time, and that surely wouldn't be very hard. So Jenna just needed to focus.
Lightning had other plans though. She'd paused in her movement for a moment, her eyes turned toward the bottle...and apparently she must've smelled it and realized how hungry she was. So now she was trying to nip at the bottle, wiggling around again to get closer to it.
"Merlin's beard, Lightning, patience, please." Why did she need to make this any more difficult??
Jenna set the bottle down in front of her again, readjusted her grip on the baby griffin, then used her wand to cast a quick Incendio...and then Aguamenti a few seconds later.
There....that looked liquidy and soft enough, right?

As Kace was feeding the little guy, he saw Freddie's big eyes look at him. I guess he could take it as a thank you. It seemed to be loving the food and it was finally relaxing and was drinking the food rather fast. "There you go little guy.." he smiled at him. As Freddie finished the food, it seemed to be sleepy because he saw him yawn. Awww that was too cute. He grinned and pet the top of his head. It seemed to like the gesture because Freddie closed his eyes and seem to the fall asleep faster. Kace repeated the head petting and Freddie was now into a deep sleep. Well at least he did the assignment and made a bond with a new creature. He wondered if this guy was gonna remember him. Probably not but at least he did a good deed.
He began to rock his Griffin back and forth since his hand was cramping from petting his head. It seemed to work because he wasn't waking up. Kace wished he could take a nap right now but class was almost over. He could push through.

The boy took a couple of minutes to just look down at the baby griffin in his arms, tucked away in a blanket. It was wriggling, as was expected, and while Grayson would have gotten slightly annoyed at all the wriggling, now he........ wasn't. No annoyance, no looks and no mental swearing. He simply just tightened his hold around the baby griffin, trying to hold onto it as firmly and gently as possible.
The next step sounded simple enough. Keeping hold of his wand, the boy brought a baby bottle closer towards him. Jeez, this was just gonna get worse and worse, man. He pointed his wand into the bottle and said, "Scourgify!" Cleaaaaaaan! And inspect, just to make sure. Like he would before using a cauldron.
When that was done, he went ahead to scoop some of the carcass into the bottle. "Shhhhhh!" Jeez, man, did this baby ever stop wriggling or what? Because completing this task was gonna be a lot more difficult if the baby griffin was gonna be a little rebel.

Buddy was doing quite well with his bottle. Janelle wondered if they would be allowed to come and feed their griffins on a regular basis. Since they had bonded and all, Janelle certainly wanted to come back and see her Buddy.
The little griffin seemed to be slowing down, as he was no longer chugging down the bottle. He had slowed his pace to an occasional sip. Janelle could see why because the bottle was just about empty. She let her baby finish the last bits of liquid meat and took the bottle away. After setting it down, Janelle held Buddy and gave his head a little stroke. "Good job Buddy. You're in the clean plate club.....or the clean bottle club. You'll be a big boy befor you know it." Janelle kept stroking the animal as she watched his eyes starting to close.
The second year was pretty pleased with herself. Buddy was on his way to sleep and his belly was full. Happy that she had a new friend to visit, Janelle made Buddy feel comfortable. She adjusted his blanket and made sure everything was alright. Yes, she would definitely have to ask Professor Thompson about her visiting privileges.

This. Griffin. Won't. Freaking. Stop. Wriggling!
He could feel his patience wearing thin -- about time, too -- as the Griffin almost threatened to wriggle out of the blanket and his arms completely. Grayson readjusted his hold on the baby griffin so that he was holding the creature with his left arm instead of his right. It was just gonna be easier and whatnot.
"Incendio!" Fire to the carcass to melt it. And.......... "Aguamenti!" There. Liquid form.
Griffin seemed to be kinda excited for the food, something he picked up when it started wriggling like mad again. He didn't know how or why but something inside of him could tell that it wanted the food, which only kinda amused the guy. "You know that you're gonna have to wait, don't you?"
More wriggling. This griffin was a freaking rebel.

With the baby griffins food prepared, Cutty stuck an rather uncautious finger out toward the bottle inside of which he'd just incendio'd the meat. The water had cooled it slightly, though and so it was not the scolding hot material that could've made him yelp and drop the baby. His wand still in hand, he cleaned the feeding end with a scourgifying spell.
Picking it up and nestling it into his armpit, he screwed the newly cleansed feeding cap back onto it and checked the baby griffin. Phlegon was still squirming and making noises. Oh yeah. He was hungry. In an almost numb fashion, Cutty turned the baby toward him and aimed the bottle for the creatures mouth. The forepaws drew up and padded around the cap as if trying to get more. And in moments Phlegon's eyes were closed.
This went on until high squeakish sounds of air came from the bottle and caused Cutty to adjust it so that the end of it was higher up than the cap. This only helped so much, though since the little orphan boy was so famished that Cutty thought for a moment there the glass might shatter under the sucking pressure. Eventually, Phlegiez slowed down as exhaustion took over. The creature nuzzled into Cutty not realizing that warmth shall be had from a reptile.
Carefully, but not caringly Cutty brought the bundled boy over to the floor and put it to rest by the others. Then, just as he would've done in potions class, he took apart the bottle and cleansed each end individually, "Scourgify. Scourgify." leaving them as clean or perhaps cleaner than when he'd found them.

"You're doing real good, though. Don't worry about it," Dot had finally figured out that she could pin the griffin in place by sitting on the ends of his blanket, and both she and Lorenzo were MUCH happier. Or she was, so... yeah.
"I'll do both of ours. Hold on a second." Dot pointed her wand at her own bottle and said clearly, "Aguamenti." Water filled around the heated meat, and she may have gagged a little. This was SUPER yucky. Baby griffin didn't think so, but what did he know? Now Marsha's bottle... also filled with water with a nifty jab of the wand.
"I think it draws water out of the air and makes it liquid. It can't really make something from nothing, y'know? But anyway... there you go. LORENZO. That's not food. That's my hair." She tightened the lid on the bottle and offered it to the very eager little griffin.

Sweet Merlin!
Another adjustment had to take place because surprise surprise, the baby griffin was trying to get out of the blanket again. C'mon, he wasn't THAT bad of a griffin parent. In actual fact, he thought he was doing quite well, considering. Some more shhhhhh'ing ensued once he had the grip on the griffin and he even bobbed it up and down a little. Again, as he would with a baby.
Yeah.............. he needed to find his girlfriend after this.
Taking hold of the bottle, the Slytherin started feeding the baby griffin, who had seemed much too excited at the sight of the bottle. Knew it. Of course it had been freaking hungry, the signs were all there. And he was glad that they had to do things this way because there was no way in Merlin that he was regurgitating anything for the baby griffin. No way.
It took a bit of drinking and some more shhhhh'ing and bopping of the bubble of blankets but, before long, the baby griffin slowly started drifting off............
........... drifting of............
................... and asleep. Heh! He was kinda proud of that, actually.

Now came the easy part. Hopefully.
Jenna didn't have to resist against Lightning's movements anymore and offered the bottle to her, which the little one took to almost instantly. And she seemed to be really enjoying that food, either because it tasted good or she was really hungry.
Probably both. That was what Jenna was going to assume at least. She definitely wasn't gonna try it herself to test whether it actually tasted good.
It wasn't long before it was all gone too. Lightning ate as fast as lightning clearly. Ha.
...yeah, that wasn't actually funny. But anyway.
The wiggling from before had definitely stopped, the baby griffin settling down in the warmth of the blanket, her tummy full. Jenna petted her softly to help her relax even more....and soon....after a few minutes.....Lightning was snoozing away.
Awww! She was even cuter when she was asleep. So adorable. Merlin. Could Jenna just keep her forever?

"Okay, Chingu. Time for your meal." The Korean boy said to his baby griffin. After the bottle had been cleaned and filled by the raw meat, he moved onto the next step. Prepare the meal.
Make the raw meat became liquid? Well, it didn't sound... appetizing for him.
"Incendio!" First, he melted the carcass. It took a little bit long time to make the meat melted. Then, he added some water to the bottle. "Aguamenti." He shook the bottle to make the meat and water well mixed. Ugh, like he had said before, it didn't look appetizing for him. But hopefully his baby griffin would enjoy it.

Another question, well, multiple good ones. "Indeed, Griffins can lay up to three eggs, slightly larger in size than Hippogriff eggs, Miss McAlister." As for the other two, "The bone structure in their wings are as hollow as that of the eagle their top half represents so they can fly. They do indeed produce milk just below the area were the feathers morph to the other half resembling of a lion." It was very intriguing as Javier's blue eyes gazed around to see nearly everyone's Griffins getting into snoozeville, including the little one in his arms.. where he could see the time on his watch. A slight frown for the time.
"Right. That'll do for today everyone." Yep, unfortunately it was time, "Do not fret, this won't be the last you see the Griffins here. Keep a look out for the homework on the notice board later on. You may carefully set your sleeping bundled Griffin down, they will be here when you come back." So with that, "Class is dismissed."

It kept squawking at him so he calmed it down by stroking the back of its head gently."Here you go,Casper...here's your food...bon appetit',"he mumbled and fed his baby griffin. He wondered what happened to Casper's parents. He knew most of the griffins here are either orphaned or injured but he was curious. Being left out alone to fend for yourself at such a young age, he knew that feeling all too well...he was glad Casper had survived and now been properly taken care of in Hogwarts."I will come and visit you more often now, Casper...I don't want you to feel that you are not loved because you have me now, your friends and of course the professor to take care of you..that's it,eat up...good boy...Casper,"he whispered softly to his griffin, lifting its bottle a little higher so it be easier for it to feed.He made sure Casper was bundled up nicely too and watched silently as it being fed.

Just as Genevieve fully drifted off into dreamworld - griffins dreamt, too, right? - Javy was dismissing them. But... couldn't they stay awhile longer? Just spend some time keeping their griffins warm and safe and cozy and content? She'd FINALLY gotten Genevieve to be cute and cuddly and they had to GO. Mega lame.
But... at least they got to come back to them later, right? This wasn't the end? Hopefully they'd get to do more with them for homework or something. Soph wanted to visit her new little buddy all the time.
Eyeing the leftover blankets in the corner, Sophie pointed her wand at them and cast "Accio blanket!" to summon another blanket, then she gently made a nest beside her. That way, Genevieve would be EXTRA comfortable, and Sophie gently lifted the griffin from her lap and set her aside on the little blanket nest, then readjusted the blanket that was wrapped around the griffin to make sure it was still nice and snug and safe and warm and content as could beeeee.
There. Now it felt okay to leave. Genevieve stirred slightly, but seemed comfortable enough that she went right back to sleep. Perfect.
Sophie uncapped her baby bottle and cast, "Tergeo! Scourgify!" inside it and at the lid, not wanting to leave Javy with unclean supplies in his possession. "I can collect the bottles for you, sir," Sophie offered, capping the now-clean bottle and putting it back in the box where they'd originally gotten them from, then making a move to offer to take them from others who were getting ready to leave, too. She'd collect them, clean them, put them back in the box - whatever needed to be done.

It was time to go already?
AWWWWWW.
Lux didn't want to leave baby Georgina even if she was fast asleep. Pout. At least she would be seeing more of her soon. If she had her way she would be seeing the Griffin all term. That would be absolutely amazing.
Gently she set Georgina down. "Goodbye," Lux whispered so that her sleep wouldn't be disturbed. "Thanks for the awesome lesson, Professor. It was so much fun." Smiling, she made her way back to the castle.
A warm smile was returned, "You're welcome, Miss Carrington. Have a good day."

"That's mighty kind and appreciative, Miss Brown. But I can take care of it, you can go on to your next lesson." He won't forget that though as he gave her with the other students a final wave followed by a, "Have a good day." Splendid turn out this was.
