The building used for the Gobstones matches had had its doors closed against the early autumn morning chill. Its surfaces magically dusted by Professor Tanner and Mr. Kitridge, the school's Gobstones sponsors and made ready for the term's first preliminary match.

The yellow and green marbles were set out and the playing 'field' had been marked. Chairs were set out on each side of the arena creating a Viewing Area (http://www.snitchseeker.com/gobstones-club/gobstones-viewing-area-100712/) for those not playing to watch.

OOC: Remember only members sorted into Hufflepuff and Gryffindor Houses can post in this thread, it is not a chat thread and there is no rping.

Read the Gobstones Rule book (http://www.snitchseeker.com/gobstones-club/gobstones-club-rulebook-93273/) before playing and if you did last term, please check again for potential updates and changes.

Mr Kitridge had walked in with his hands stuck in his coat pockets against the brisk autumn morning air, the Arithmancy Professor had graciously set up the hall for the first match so Leo could focus on lighting the fireplaces and getting warmed up.

As the teams assembled he put his wand to his mouth to enhance his whistle to get the players attention. "Good morning and welcome to the Gobstones club, today's our first game of the season, I hope you're all as excited and geared up as I am." Not waiting for any responses Leo quickly signalled for the teams to choose their representatives for the first shot of the game.

"Let's begin!"

For the first roll with the shooters Gryffindor sent out Emmylou Duchannes and Hufflepuff sent out Leah Abbott. The two girls swung their shooters and kicked their stones forward in the court. The red stone circled a few obstacles before it lost speed and stopped. The yellow stone surpassed its opponent on its way to clear four more obstacles before it too stopped.

"The first point of the match goes to Hufflepuff!" Leo declared from the sideline.

Emmy and Leah handed over their shooters to Adi and Zander who eagerly marched out for their first battle. The two boys swung their shooters and kicked their stone's forward. The red stone shot forward and knocked head first into a obstacle causing it to drop to the court and stop. Oozing out some smoke but no gob. The yellow stone surpassed it's opponent and cleared 3 more obstacles before it stopped.

"2 points to Hufflepuff! Come on lions!" Leo announced and cheered on with a glance over at the stands that was filling up with spectators.

Valentine and Rehman took to the court again. Adi seemed to have picked up some sort of luck on the bench during the short break. He was getting his house's stone closer and closer to the Gryffindor's stone, and the goal in extension. "3 points to Hufflepuff at the end of the first round. Hufflepuff leads 6-0 as we head into the second round!" Leo declared.

Adi remained for the badgers while the lions sent in firstie Marsha Hanover. The two swung their shooters and watched their stones take off. The red stone just rolled a few meters before it stopped and sprayed up a gush of smelly gob. Eww, watch out! The yellow stone surpassed its oppent and cleared 2 obstacles before it stopped.

"1 point to Hufflepuff! Come on lions!" Leo cheered on. If the badgers got a too big lead his hope for a tight match would be ruined.

Adi kept on for the badgers while the lions switched in Cinnamon Bayless. Hoping that a fresh player would have better hand with the shooter and stones. The two swung their shooters and kicked their stones forward. The red stone sped off oicking up pace as it rounded obstacle after obstacle but suddenly it just lost all its speed and stopped. The yellow stone had been trailing behind its opponent and now moved to surpass and around another obstacle before it stopped.

"2 points to Hufflepuff! Come on lions!" Leo cheered on.

It was Duchannes and Rehman again for the next roll. "One point to Hufflepuff," she said as Adi's stone rolled true. "Let's go, Gryffindor!" She felt badly for rooting on one house, but it was obvious they needed the encouragement more at this point.

Fifth year Jackson Hwang now took a turn for Gryffindor's roll as first year Torie Yenorin continued for Hufflepuff. The match was beginning to pick up now as Gryffindor was mounting a comeback. Rehman stepped up for Hufflepuff and Rogers for the lions. They threw their stones, but a third one suddenly showed up. "Be careful, Bayless!" Tiara said as she saw the Gryffindor drop one of her marbles into the playing area. "Point to Hufflepuff." An unfortunate accident.

OOC: The Gobstones rulebook states: "If more than one student from the same house answer a question, the points go to the other house regardless of their answer. However, if the time gap between the two (or more) same-house answers is less than 5 minutes, then it won't be a penalty."

Once more it was Rehman for Hufflepuff, but Adair took the next shot for Gryffindor. Zander's roll came first and stopped just short of the Jack Stone, but Adi's roll couldn't quite go the distance. The smelly liquid immediately squirted into the badger's face. "Three points to the lion side!"

Leo had taken a back seat and let Tiara advise the match for a few rounds with good success. As it came down to the last two rolls of the match Leo took over the leading. Cinnamon Bayless and Adi Rehman marched out again with their shooters. A minute or two later the stones were rolling down the court. The red stone made it past a few obstacles before it caught some dirt and stopped spraying up foul smelling gob in the air, that rained over the spectators in the viewing area. The yellow stone surpassed it's opponent for the points.

"2 points to Hufflepuff!" Leo declared, holding a hand over his nose against the horrible stench.

The last encounter between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor was concluded by the facing off between Abbott and Toussaint. Both players did their best in this last turn with their shooting. The yellow stone raced towards the goal and was the first to touch the Jack Stone, causing Mr Kitridge to start applauding a little too enthusiastically-- not because it was Hufflepuff, but because it was finally over and they would all go back to their headquarters to eat some well deserved food.

"Hufflepuff wins!" He announced, clapping lightly, "Great game Gryffindor, you were fantastic as well. Thank you everyone for watching and taking time out of your leisure time to enjoy this championship match today. Today's player of the match is Aditya Rehman, thank you for your dedication to the game." He flashed Adi a big smile. "Off you go to your common rooms for hanging out with your housemates or even studying for your end of term exams." Leo ushered everyone out, out, out.

Final Match Standings:
Hufflepuff 22 points - Winner!
Gryffindor 8 points

Player of the Match: Aditya Rehman.
