The Creature Holding Room

http://i1265.photobucket.com/albums/...psb4711253.jpg

This expansive room is one of the noisest on this side of level four, second only to the bloodhounds kennels. This, the magical creature holding room, is a limbo room where all captured or confiscated creatures are placed until a permanent and more suitable home can be found for them. Enchanted to expand in size when extra room is needed, though it's already large enough, this room is lined with cages of all shapes and sizes. Some are clear boxes for the tiny variety and some are large and bared. All are dripping with protection charms to keep them in and you from losing a digit or two. If one seems to just be slumbering in a corner, don't worry, they haven't escaped, and are contained solely by magical barriers. The room is organized by species, ministry rating, and size; a supply closet is off to the left, full of everything needed to keep the creatures well cared for temporarily.

Even more charms are in place to keep the room from being too stuffy, and to prevent anyone without a magical creatures employee escort from entering (for your own safety of course). Feel free to clean up after some of the creatures or feed other. Just don't get too attached, they are only here temporarily.

OOC: Only magical creatures employees have access to this room. Other ministry workers wishing to gain entrance for any reason needs to first gain permisson from the current department head.

Jack went ahead his co-worker to the creature holding room. He opened the door and it hit something which he later realized was a broken medal cage and saw that the whole room was a disheveled mess and the smell was certainly worse hereBut he was not mad, nope, he was intrigued to find out what was caused this mess and cleaning up may actually lead to clues. So he began to pick up the mess in hopes maybe the fiend might make appearance or he find a clues that could lead him to it.

Yeah, the bubblehead charm would work, but still January didn't feel it was absolutely necessary. She wasn't going to whine about a little stench, she was just going to clean it up. She had followed her coworker back to the holding room a moment after he left and wasn't entirely surprised to see that that room was in shambles as well.

"Merlin's beard," she muttered under her breath. Her wand was still out, so January began cleaning up the droppings first. "I certainly hope we'll figure out what is behind all this." She was getting tired of cleaning up poop, guys.

Jose walked into the creature holding area.. he hasn't been in this room yet surprisingly but he was glad that there were people here when he arrived.. "Errr Hello" he said while placing the box down on one of the desks… "Harmony has asked me to hand out these bottles because we have a rather bad Chizpurfles infestation." continuing he gave the rest of the instructions "this pesticide works real well, all you need to do is spray it everywhere… don't forget the cracks and corners." he said.

Holding out two bottles he waited for them to take it.

Rosa Chispa Princessa 05-07-2014 08:22 PM

"Oh, chizpurfles, you say caused this. Those things are tiny little buggers, thats impressive", Jack grabbed a bottle, held it out, and put on his sunglasses. "Lets do this", and with the he began to spray the room down and hit every nook and crany he could find because no one wanted these tiny creatures to continue their reign of terror, but was it really just them?

Jose nodded "yes Chizpurfles… they are rather impressive and easy to get rid of" Jack was very energetic about spraying his work area. Jose made a mental note to ask him to hang out after work because he really liked his work ethics and for sure he would love how he handled himself out of the work environment.

"well I'll just leave you on your way to spray, If you need me for anything please let me know" he would be around the office somewhere probably spraying or handing out bottles.

The Announcer 05-19-2014 01:28 PM

With each spray from the bottle, dozens upon dozens of chizpurfles keeled over and twitched their tiny clawed legs. But only for a short time as the solution in those bottles of yours is quite potent!

IT'S WORKING IT'S WORKING! BYE BYE CHIZPURFLES!

OKAY. So. Ember was LEADING Derek here, to get him his mutant stuff. She was actually quiiiiite interested to see the poor little guys, too, and make sure everything was okay with them. Hehe. She beckoned Derek forward with her before entering the room, brushing her hair from her face.

She glanced around. Cages lined the walls. She didn't like the cages, but sometimes they were needd, right? At least she would tell herself that, hmm? "Umm--you do want the Chizpurfles, right?" she asked softly, looking around for the little guys..who had caused so much trouble, apparently. "What will you be doing to them, then? Hmm? Not hurting them TOO badly, right?" He just needed samples. But samples of what? She dind't know. "Derek, what exactly do you DO?" she asked. She knew she was doing all the talking and stuff, and that he might not answer her every question, but oh well!

Still slightly disturbed by the odd encounter with the strange Department Head in her weird office, Derek followed Amber to the Creature Holding Room. All the loud noises left him momentarily befuddled, but he blinked a few times and looked around trying to spot the creatures he was there for.

It wasn't until blue-haired girl mentioned Chizpurfles that Derek turned to look at her. "W-what? No, not the Chizpurfles." Did she know what Chizpurfles were? "We got rid of them all already." No more infestation, miss, thank you very much. "It's the uh... mutants. There were out about two years ago... um... they used to be normal creatures before being tested in a cosmetic lab. The yused to be clabberts, nifflers, murtlaps..." ...Why was he giving her so much information?? "Um, anyway... do you know where those are?" He remembered some of them being labeled Mutant X and Y so he started looking around the room for those ones first.

When odd girl asked him what he was going to do to them, wondering if he'd hurt them too badly, the lab technician couldn't help but stop searching the cages for a second. "I just need their drool..." He said with a sigh. See, he wasn't going to hurt them at all. Only if they decided to blow up his lab again. Then he couldn't be held responsible for his actions. Them mutants had better stay in there where they would be safe. "I'm uh... the lab technician for Accidents and Catastrophes. I work with Potions." He said, kind of trying to sound as casual as he could. Which wasn't very casual at all.

Why was he speaking so much that day, for Merlin's sake!!? Alright, he needed those samples right now so he could go hide in his lab again.

OOOH. Oooooops. Ember blushed. Welp. She had no idea! She had just started a few months back! "Oh. Right. Duh. Sorry--" she said quickly, sighing as she pointed at the cages with the 'mutants' apparently...there were definitely a few nifflers in there, yep. "Of course. They caused lots of mayhem...apparently..." yeah...She was forever making a fool of herself in front of Derek. And it wasn't like her made her nervous or anything--she supposed she just ran her mouth more so with Derek to make up for his lack of speech. That had to be it!

"And also, that's horrible, and I hope those people are behind bars..." or something. She had never been arrested before. Her face had taken a dark turn, though, and her eyes were all...narrowed and angry-looking. The former Hufflepuff...definitely wasn't always nice, and especially to those who mistreated animals...ESPECIALLY.

Ooooh drool, okay. She nodded. Right. "THats nothing horrible..." she said with a shrug and led him towards the mutant cages. "I was...decent at potions..did you go to Hogwarts?" she asked, tilting her head curiously. "I will have to visit you some time and see you in action! Because I'm very curious--wow--Derek! You must be really smart!" her face was shining in awe because in her opinion, if he could be a LAB TECHNICIAN he had to be A GENIUS. Hehe.

MUTANTS! 07-31-2014 01:59 AM

Sitting in its cage, the creature that had come to be known as Mutant X blinked its massive eyes at the two humans as they entered. Not nearly as wild as it had once been due to the kind treatment it had received, it chattered its over-sized teeth.

Had they brought him some treats?

"SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE! SQEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

Hey Ju 07-31-2014 04:10 AM

'They caused lots of mayhem... apparently.' Apparently? APPARENTLY?? Had this girl even SEEN what those things had DONE to his lab?? She sure hadn't. Otherwise she wouldn't have been so vague about the whole thing.

Ugh. The image of his destroyed lab came to him once again and this time he wasn't even having a nightmare. Well, he would argue he was, since there the image was in his brain again, the difference was that he was awake at the moment.

The lab technician shook his head slightly to come back to reality when Amber commented something about people being behind bars. He didn't have any strong opinions on the matter, to be fair, so he kept quiet. That, and also because he had done too much talking already and that was a bit uncomfortable.

Derek nodded his head when she said taking the creature's drool wasn't horrible. Good, she wasn't about to flip and yell at him and be all dramatic like she had done in that shop a few months back. "Yes." He replied when she asked about Hogwarts. Still looking for the mutant, Derek froze on spot once more when she said something about visiting him. Whaaaaat? She was kidding, right? Didn't she have work to do?? He gave her a confused look, but it only lasted for a brief second.

Well, the creature was causing mayhem again. Apparently. Pffft.

If only it wasn't in the cage right behind him, Derek wouldn't probably have reacted jumping a bit at the REALLY LOUD noise. He turned his now slightly red face to the mutant and eyed it seriously. Frowning, Derek tried his best to keep the image of the destroyed lab out of his mind as he pulled out a vial from his pocket. "Are there any.... specifications on handling them?" Because truth be told, Derek would have no problem stunning the thing to collect some drool and then leave immediately, but there was a creatures-freak right next to him AND that Department was probably full of those.

So... now what?

kayquilz 07-31-2014 04:06 PM

Oh! Ember jumped when one of them starting squeaking really LOUDLY, but then she smiled and grabbed one of the treats from of the treat bins, and she got eye-level with the little guy. "Hi, little dude...how's it going?" she said in a very kind and gentle voice. "You doing okay? Want a little treat? And some pets?" she asked, and giggled as she looked over at Derek.

Oh? He had to gone to Hogwarts! "What house were you in?" she asked excitedly, and flushed, too, because YAY he was a Hogwartian! Like her! "I was in Hufflepuff--if you couldn't tell--" heheheh! She giggled a lot and turned back to the little mutant. Oh, he was just too precious! Not the best looking creature, but it made him all the more precious to Ember! She just wanted to pick him up and hooooold him! Hehehe.

"And no. Just..be kind and nice and give him loooots of treats--not enough to make him SICK, though!" and she grabbed a few more from the bin before opening the little door and holding her hands for him to jump in. She didn't want to just go in and grab him--he might not like that, and she hadn't handled the mutants yet to be sure how he would take it. She smiled. "Hi, come on, he just needs some of your saliva..." she said gently. Now. HOw he would be getting his saliva...hmm...she looked over at Derek. "I'll hold him and stuff...just don't be mean and be VERY nice okaaaay?" she cautioned him.

Hey Ju 07-31-2014 04:54 PM

Derek watched with a blank expression as blue-hair spoke to the creature as if... it was a baby or something. All odd people, these creature lovers.

"Gryffindor." He answered, looking from her to the horrendous loud mutant. She was a Hufflepuff. Hm. Fine. At least she wasn't a Ravenclaw. Those were the worst.

But

...

WHAT WAS SHE DOING?

As soon as Amber opened the cage, Derek whipped out his wand and immediately pointed it at the door, which banged shut quite loudly. That creature was NOT going to leave the area and gotohislabagainanddestroyeverything. NO. Was Amber OUT OF HER MIND??? WHY WOULD SHE D--

Merlin.

Calm down, Derek. The door is shut now.

MERLIN, THERE WAS A REASON WHY THEY WERE IN CAGES, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.

Still with his wand at the ready - because WHO KNEW - Derek stared at the creature to see if it'd do anything mad. No. Just no. NO.

MUTANTS! 10-23-2014 05:55 AM

Sleeping soundly in their cages, the mutants had been adjusting to their new lives behind bars quite well.

However, the one known as Mutant Z suddenly jolted awake with an ear wrenching shriek of agony that echoed through the holding room and down the hallway.

TakemetotheBurrow 10-23-2014 03:19 PM

!!!

What in the name of Hippogriffs was that sound?!

The red head could hear the horrible shrieking all the way from her office and it shook her to her very core. She knew the sound of a creature in distress and this was that sound only magnified. Something was not right and her aura was all kinds of muddied blue, fear evident in her face as she walked as fast as she could down the hallway, hand over her heart. Surely she wasn't the only one stricken by the noise.

After letting herself in, the red head ran to the cage of mutant Z, all thoughts of keeping the poor creature quiet gone right out of her head. She wanted to know what was wrong and that was the only thing driving her. "What it is," she said softly, summoning protective gloves and goggles from nearby. "What's wrong?" Earmuffs needed to be summoned to as the shrieking was starting to make Harmony's head pound. She needed help in here.

The ear-piercing wail had reached Emmalee all the way at the entrance to the greenhouses and she wondered, for a moment, if one of the junior botanists had been clumsy with the baby mandrakes.... again.

But seeing as she felt only annoyed and not ready to pass out, it was clearly not that. It didn't take long to determine that it had come from the creature side of the floor. Arms crossed in front of her, she walked briskly over to the room. Sure, she was concerned that something would make that sound, but she was more concerned about what the noise would do to her precious plants.

"Don't you have silencing charms on these doors," she said abruptly, as she strode through the doorway.

Merlin's beard. What was that awful looking thing?

kayquilz 10-23-2014 06:36 PM

<3

Ember had been going about her USUAL workday--you know, helping people with PESTS and doing PAPERWORK and eating FOOOOOD--when she suddenly heard this HORRRRRIBLE noise from the holding cells---SWEET MERLIN'S POTATOES! Ember had HOPPED up from her workspace and RUSHED here--

Looks like Harmony was already here, and Ember quickly followed suit, grabbing some gloves and slipping them on. She grabbed some goggles, too, and slipped them on. MERLIN Ember couldn't even THINK straight because of this little guy--SHe glanced at the woman who had walked in, too, and just raised an eyebrow--"WHAT?" she asked, hardly able to hear the woman--MERLIN. How was she going to help Harmony if she couldn't even HEAR. She covered her ears with her hands and wondered if Harmony was fluent in SIGN LANGUAGE? Because Ember was--and she would sign and stuff--

She gestured at the cage, though, and shot her boss a questioning look.

TakemetotheBurrow 10-23-2014 06:57 PM

*apologizes for her dramatics* XD

The poor think looked like it was in pain, didn't it? Harmony's eyes widened, full of sadness and worry. Her gloves were on by this point and earmuffs cupped firmly over her ears. It hadn't even crossed her mind to silence the mutant as the shrieking was an alarm, warning her and the others that something was wrong. Silencing it was the last thing on her mind, or at least until a woman she didn't recognized barged into the holding room.

"You're not meant to be in here without permission," The red head snapped loudly. It was a rare occasion when the department head wasn't relaxed but a creature in pain had the ability to throw off her peaceful nature.

"I don't know what's wrong with the poor dear!"

Ember's confused look was returned and Harmony felt pounding; whether it was coming from her heart or her head, she wasn't sure. And perhaps the pounding was what she needed to finally make her grab her wand.

"Silencio!" She cast on the mutant with apologetic eyes before using a wand to summon a blanket. The mutants liked dark spaces and if she was going to check it out, wrapping it in a blanket would hopefully help to keep it calm. Merlin knew William's trousers had helped in that way back when the mutants were running wild around the ministry. And so blanket now in hand, she approached the cage and went to unlock it.

AmbiguouslyMe 10-23-2014 07:03 PM

sorry >.<

Oh. That was the Department Head for Creatures, wasn't it. Whoops.

Stepping aside for the other woman - Ember, she thought? - Emmalee stayed just outside the door, fingers in her ears.

"Sorry, she responded once the silencio had been cast. "I just heard the shriek and wanted to make sure everything was alright. You seem to have it, so, I'll be going." She tried to appear conciliatory, but honestly, you share this floor. Be considerate of the noise.

She turned to go, but hesitated. "But, please, if you hear something like that come out of my greenhouse, do come see if we're being eaten by a venonmous tentacula, even if you're not supposed to be in there." She kept her tone light, so as not to appear sarcastic.

Looking at the cage, Emmalee cringed. What were they keeping in here?

And with that, the woman turned to leave. Even a bloodcurdling human scream probably wouldn't get her back in this room.

kayquilz 10-23-2014 07:23 PM

Lulzz.

Whoah whoah WHOAH. Harmony needed to calm herself. Ember's lavender eyes widened as she snapped at the woman--and Ember tried to smile at her apologetically--"Harmony--we should try to keep our energy POSITIVE for the poor dear--" she said--nicely, though--but smiled a lot. The silencing charm was definitely helping, though, and she glanced at the woman. "Harmony--do we need her help?" she asked softly.

Did she detect....sarcasm? Normally Ember did have an ear for it, but she did smiled..knowingly...at the woman. "We'll check, don't worry..." she said, and she turned back to the Mutant. SHE FELT SO BAD. He looked sooo...SAD AND UPSET. Ember wanted to cuddle him and stuff. "

She then turned back to her boss. "Do you want me to help you with him--so that he doesn't....escape? I can do whatever you need, Harmony." She nodded. For once, Ember was very serious. When it came to her creatures--she always was. She had her wand at the ready, though, iN CASE OF ANY FUNNY BUSINESS.

TakemetotheBurrow 10-23-2014 10:16 PM

lol

"I think we've got it covered, yes." She looked from the woman to Ember, answering both in one fell swoop. And she simply couldn't experience positive vibes when a creature-even a mutant creature-was in distress. Harmony Skylark followed her true emotions, however they made her seem. She knew no other way.

It seemed to Harmony that the woman had come to make a noise complaint, not check on the members of the creatures department, so the apology and request that followed were questionable at best. (And yes, the holding room was equipped with charms, but apparently not enough to suppress such a shriek) She did nod her head in acknowledgement, though. At least to show she'd heard what the woman said. Her eyes remained on the environmental employee for one more second before she focused all her attention back on the task at hand. Ember seemed to be doing a good job mediating anyway, lovely soul that she was.

"Ember, please stay and assist. I'm going to blindfold mutant Z and then take him out. They seem to relax slightly in the dark but I don't want to take any chances. Here, take this blanket." The red head handed it over, her gentle demeanor returning now that the noise level and initial shock of the situation had subsided. She was still extremely worried, obviously. It was written all over her face.

MUTANTS! 10-23-2014 10:36 PM

Mutant Z continued to open it's mouth to shriek, only now thanks to the Silencio no sound came out. Perhaps giving the mutant an even more terrifying appearance. Pink drool began to ooze out of it's mouth and drip on to the floor where soft hissing sounds could be heard as the ground eroded away.

As Mutant Z was being handled, mutants X and Y too began to shriek and howl in pain. Mutant Y curled up in a ball in the back of its cage as it did, whereas Mutant X stumbled around its cage and slammed into the sides.

"REEEEEEEEEEEK REEEEEEEEEK! NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARF!"

kayquilz 10-23-2014 11:02 PM

Ember WAS calm. She WAS. She took the blanket, ready to assist Harmony in ANY way possible. But then--suddenly--ALL OF THE OTHER MUTANTS WERE SCREAMING. Ember suddenly DROPPED the blanket and put her hands over her ears---MERLIN. Her ears were EXPLODING. Her heart rate had increased by TENFOLD--MERLIN MERLIN MERLIN. She was dying. Trying not to PANIC at all. She needed to be here with Harmony to make sure everything was okay!

She reached over to pick up her wand and quickly waved her wand. "SILENCIO!" she cried, trying to silence it all so that they could THINK straight--Ember was trying to remember training from Uni--the KEY was to stay calm, but it was hard when that pink SLIME dripped from the mouth of Mutant X----IT WAS GOING THROUGH THE FLOOR. Ember's eyes were REALLY wide now--MERLIN!

Without thinking, she cried, "EVANESCO!" she cried, hoping that the stuff emitting from the creature wasn't weird enough NOT to disappear--but this was BAD. Very BAD. Her hands were shaking and she shot a look in desperation at the other woman--"H-Harmony--" she reached over and picked up the blanket and eyed all of the flailing and frightened creatures--"What should we DO? We need backup--like now--" she said in a DEEPLY WORRIED AND CONCERNED WAY.

Lauralicious 10-23-2014 11:34 PM

Charlotte was just about to get down with some business as something reached her ears. Something so shockingly high and piercing it gave her goosebumps. WHAT ON EARTH WAS THAT?!

Okay so she hadnt been here for a long time but that sound...that couldnt be normal. Seemed like there was no quiet start for her then. With a grin on her face the brunette went looking for where that sound came from. Her first adventure, this was exciting. Being an adult was a good thing so far. She could still party during the weekends...now for work adventures.

And then she heard it AGAIN! MORE THAN ONCE! OH MY GOD HAD EVERYONE GONE MENTAL NOW?! Entering the creature holding room, the girl had to cover her ears. By merlins beard! "Is everyone okay in here?Whats happening?" Looking around Charlotte noticed that the department head and two women she didnt know where there already.
