Lost in those reasons he walked around the store looking for a soda or something he wasn't sure, but his mind was back in Spain. The fun they had together and how much his family liked Mariel. Was he crazy to be freaking out about a possible good thing? He knew his reasons why this sort of feeling was not allowed and his game was just to pick up women have fun and move on. So why was this so different.

He turned the corner in the aisle and found some candy, he wasn't really that big on just candy. He'd rather have dessert not just a candy bar, but this would do for now. Smiling at some of the muggle worker or well he figured they were muggle workers he wondered if some fun could be had and tried to shake the guilt off that was for some reason creeping into his mind. Jorge was off his game and he couldn't quite figure it out. Pulling a liter of soda from the cooler he started to make his way up to the register.

It was another one of those days, the type that seemed to drag with no end in sight. Emily had made the executive decision to eat out, and hide out, the cafeteria food wasn't tempting enough for her to withstand the queues and share tables with random employees, and she wasn't in the mood to stare at her office decor. No. Today she would venture out for some much needed fresh air.

Stopping into the convenience store, Emily picked up a pre-made sandwich pack - hoping it was at least half decent - and a bottle of water. Her bright idea was the head to the park and smell the roses so to speak, and to give her head some space to mull things over. There was perhaps too much going on in her life at this moment. Work, was high up on her list of priorities, though competition was slowly encroaching on the top spot on her list and this in itself would take getting used to.

Somewhat frustrated, Emily turned the corner of the aisle sharply, only to collide with another body and dropping her water bottle in the process. "Dammit," she huffed, pausing to identify the person she very nearly could have bowled over. To her surprise, and distaste, it was a familiar face. "Oh... it's you.." in which case, she wouldn't be apologising. Nope. Lousy journalists. The Daily Prophet was very quickly wearing out her patience. It was nothing more than a trash rag, designed not to inform or insight, but to bash the crap out of MLE any chance it got. For all she knew, the editor and his staff could very well have been Cultist sympathisers, among other things. Trolls.

As he grabbed his drink and made his way to the register Jorge did not get very far before someone was against him and with some force he stepped back to catch both their balance putting his arms around the figure for a moment just so they didn't fall further. He recognized the voice before seeing the face. Interviewing the MLE department head not that long ago Jorge grinned at her. The article had made the stands so he knew she'd be less thrilled to see him, but no matter that just made it more fun.

"Well hello to you too Senorita Brown. How are you on this lovely day." His signature grin on his face as he watched her. "What brings you in here not really somewhere I'd think I'd find you." Shouldn't she be questioning her own employees for working against her or something. Possibly finding where the old department head was so they could arrest him for working with the criminals. It was obvious he had been.

"Can I buy you a treat or a drink?" He was already buying himself something why not treat the beauty as well.

She resisted his arms around her, taking a step backward to put some distance between them. Personally, he was a little too close for comfort. The whole Senorita thing, didn't impress her either, manners were manners, but coming from him.. it felt slimy. "I was fine," she mused, bending to retrieve her bottle from the floor before it rolled out of reach. "I'd congratulate you on the article, but under the circumstances I don't think you deserve it..." it read like so many of the others the Prophet had published. He was merely a pawn, a copy cat, a puppet. Not at all original.

As for what brought her here, she held up her plastic wrapped sandwich, wasn't it clear? Food. Food brought her here. She did however manage a small smirk. "And how would you know where to find me?" she asked, considering he didn't know her from a bar of soap. Never mind the fact that he was right. Muggle convenience stores were not her scene, she avoided them as best she could... but he didn't need to know that.

"Thank you, but I can buy my own lunch," she replied with a nod contentedly pushing past him, opting to check the muggle news stand. Their publications were surely more tasteful. As charming as it was for him to offer to cover for her expenses, she wasn't interested.

He watched her bend over to pick up her bottle and of course he noticed and watched. She was right there to look at he was going to look. What guy wouldn't? She was the head of the MLE so that was hot and she was hot in general, yep checking her out. "Of course you are." He might be saying that to mean different than she was though and a smirk formed knowing it.

"I don't deserve it?" A fake hurt crossed his face, "Hey I'm just putting facts out there. Your department has sucked for awhile, I'm not saying it was you, but I do think you should have your former boss in custody figuring things out." Grin back on his face he gave a little shrug, "Plus it was the perfect article to right after the De Talone trial, really pushed the issues that needed pushed." He was proud of both of those and like the fact it got under the skin of people that weren't really doing their jobs anyway.

A sandwich in plastic oh appealing Jorge wrinkled his nose a bit, "Why would you eat that when there are cafe's and restaurants all around. Come I take you to one. Si?" He'd make sure she was fed better than a sandwich in plastic. "I have my ways of figuring people out. My job depends on it for good stories. Not the type I would think to see in a place full of..." He glanced around, "normal things." Would that be a good way of putting it, sure why not.

[b] "NO.. no I insist, but not here not plastic. Come we go somewhere with better food than this."

[b] "NO.. no I insist, but not here not plastic. Come we go somewhere with better food than this."

Emily was well accustomed to the feeling of being watched, both directly and indirectly.. and frankly, there was nothing subtle about the journalist eyeing her off. The tone of his voice and smug expression also left little to be desired, resulting in her giving him a look which clearly indicated she was not impressed. Honestly.

Listening to his irrelevant opinions, Emily scanned the headlines on the various news publications, nothing catching her eye. Turning away from the stand, she indulged De La Garza by offering him one of her signature grunts. Still not impressed. Still not caring. "Forgive me, but I don't take conjecture or defamation lightly," she would know, it was an MLE thing. He had no hard hitting evidence that Wes was involved in anything, the man had earnt her respect and that aside, she trusted Izzy's judgement.

Wasn't it clear? Why else would she duck into a quiet store for take away food? "I'm not keen on people," she mused, "the idea was to find a lonely bench in the park and enjoy some peace and quiet." You know, away from pompous journalists. Ahem. So yes, this is why she was surrounding herself with normal things today, yep.

Emily raised a brow, he was insisting? The prospect of better food, for free, did tempt her, she wouldn't lie. But she wasn't the most trusting of people, and the man hadn't done himself any favours with the article. To his credit - at least, her image hadn't been terribly tainted, no, he just made it sound as if she was set up to fail. Not something she wanted to hear. There would be no failure on her part, thank you kindly. "Look, if you're after another interview, official channels only... I don't have time for this." She had time to eat, and eating is what she would do.

She was even more attractive when she looked annoyed did she know? Jorge didn't seem to mind the looks though barely registered as bad ones in his head to be honest. His mind was somewhere else already.

Was she trying to make him intimidated because that was something he really was. Intimidation never phased him and it only seemed more exciting. "Well those words usually come from someone that can't see the outside picture. Biased are people that are attached to something like you seem to be of a mere job. So close to it that you can't see the real light of how it does look and the possibility that a close friend coworker could be the problem." It's why people ended up in the mess she seemed to be in with that ministry right now. Let one person in charge way to long and let them shadow her on brains that something was up. "You've never wondered why such a smart beautiful and obviously excellent at her job person like yourself was working in a place that you weren't closing any cases and the criminals seem to be no where?" She was smart enough to question that, right or did he have her pegged as a different type of person.

"I don't want to ruin any reputations unless they need to be and right now they need to be to get some safety around here." Don't worry he was going after another big place next. Already started on it thanks to Mariel.

Not keen on people? "Shouldn't the head of the MLE be more social towards people to read them and know where to find them?" That could be the issue right there. All of them hiding in their offices or a lonely park bench blind to what's really going on. "Plus someone as beautiful as you shouldn't be hiding on lonely benches." His always charming grin on his face.

He laughed at her comment and enjoyed her fiery side. This one interested him more than just the looks. She certainly had the brains and the energy to go with the looks. Just like another adorable ministry worker he knew. Now if only to find a way to put that energy an attitude to better use. His grin continued, "No interview, I'm bored with the MLE they really need to get it together, but not my problem now that the public is aware of their lack of intelligence. Hopefully now that they have beauty and brains leading them something will change and I'll care to write something else." and if it wasn't anything with the brains at least her face would be nice on the front page of another MLE aren't helping article.

"I just want to take you to lunch. I friendly not business lunch. What do you say?" Come on she knew she wanted too. Who really wants to eat this stuff, really?

Oohhhhh burn. Was he implying she was closed minded? Is that where he was going with this? Emily took a moment to observe him, giving him a once over -head to toe. Nope. Not worth her time. "What would you know?" It was a legitimate question. He didn't know her or the way she thought, and he certainly didn't know that she was perhaps one of the greater skeptics in the Ministry, she trusted few people, truly. But it didn't matter, she was all for removing herself from this conversation. With the smallest of nods, Emily made to move past him, only having taken two steps before his next statement stopped her in her tracks. She could filter out the sucking up/complimenting part, because it was a load of drivel coming from him, but he did raise a fair point.

It wasn't enough to plant a seed of doubt in her mind, no, he didn't have all the information. She could, especially now, see some areas where they'd gone wrong. Funds squandered, people overpaid, resources had been scarce - that had been one of their key issues. Not anymore.. or at least, not once it was back in check, measures had already been taken to remedy that. "I have, but it's easy enough for you to judge and be wrong, looking in from the outside." She'd have invited him to walk a mile in their shoes, but she didn't want him anywhere near level two, or her.

Emily shook her head, yeah, right, not in the business of ruining reputations at all. Because his actions had done so well to help enforce security. He was ridiculous. "And like I said in that interview... I'm on it." Things were in motion long before he turned up to quiz her. His article did nothing for the greater good.

Be more social? To read them and find them? HA! What a load of croc! Emily let out a chuckle, definitely amused by his cluelessness. Pffftttt. "Yep, because our most wanted just love catching up for drinks after work." No. Social. No. It wasn't necessary to read people. Reading came from deducing, which came largely through observation, and yes, sure, interaction... via interrogation preferably. "Once you have formal training in criminal profiling, let me know." As for the beauty part, Emily rolled her eyes and continued walking toward the counter, stopping briefly to grab a chocolate bar, or maybe two... Merlin knew she deserved it after putting with this one.

He kept talking, and she kept listening... Why? Why did she bother? She was psyching herself up to ignore him, purchase her food and be on with it... and then he had to go and say that. Of all things. She turned on her heel so fast her head might have rolled. "Lack of intelligence," she repeated, eyeing him. He had no clue. No clue at all. Not to mention he was contradicting himself, lack of intelligence, lead by beauty and brains... please. "I've been with the DMLE for close to ten years now, I promise you intelligence wasn't handed to me with the title." So he couldn't judge her or her people. Half of them weren't so bad. "And fat lot of good beauty will do you..." she muttered, moving on again.

The lunch offer, was becoming less and less appealing, especially if he was going to continue to insult her and flatter her at the same time. He lacked class and finesse. It was a real turn off, waste of time and energy.
"You insult me, call it friendly, and expect me to go along with it?" she questioned, placing her goods on the counter for the clerk, rummaging in her pocket for the bills she'd slipped in there. Sure she'd have lunch with him, in his wildest dreams. No, she was most definitely going to the park. Breathing space would be appreciated, she only hoped he wasn't the lost puppy type, she didn't do well with others chasing after her.

His smirk stayed on his face as he watched her try to walk away. Really the more angered she got the hotter she got. Why was this about women at that ministry? He really had a thing for pushing their buttons. Just to see them get flustered or angered. “I know more than you would think.” He stepped aside as she tried to walk past him he wasn’t going to force her to stay, but he sure wanted her to a little longer. “It’s my job to read people, honestly you should friend more journalist they could possibly help you better than your employees could.” Merlin knew they weren’t doing well. It couldn’t hurt to try someone else.

His chuckle grew to a laugh with her words and her obvious irritation with the man. He wasn’t familiar with such irritation, but he didn’t mind it either. “Oh sweetie I don’t judge. I find my facts and talk to sources before I right. I learn more than you want to think I do.” He was aware of things even if she didn’t think he was. He had even snooped visited the ministry a few times to look around and talk to people. Get opinions and peoples accounts for the crimes he had wrote about.

“I never said you weren’t. I’m pretty sure in my article I said your old boss should be the one being questioned not you. You weren’t in charge and allowed things to happen. “ On the contrary he’d love to write a piece just on her succeeding. Not that he’d ever admit that.

Oh she was being funny now? Jorge laughed again, “They actually are if you can figure out their favorite places. It’s not that big of a world you can always find someone who knows someone. I do it all the time.” He was confident his people skills could help with finding some of these criminals and in all honesty he would have loved working in law, but writing was just his true course. “You know I thought about that formal training before.” His grin a playful one, “But using my ability to write and bring out truth just seemed so much more rewarding.” Plus the lack of MLE case closing reassured him he went the right way.

He had to admit he was getting bored with this, there was no real lead to any new story, because he was honest he was getting bored of writing about them screwing up after the last two articles. Plus his new thoughts and ideas were going towards that school. So now it was just the fun of getting her irritated and frustrated. He enjoyed this more than he should. “Than I would say you were one of the only ones in that place with brains going in. The rest of the group I’m sure were hired from favors.” He had seen that before so it wouldn’t be a big surprise.

Pretending to pout and act offended he shook his head, “Insult? Senorita I am so sorry I never meant to insult you at all. Your department maybe, your old boss definitely, you personally never. I find you very interesting to be very truthful.” He pulled money out of his pocket as she was going through her things and looked at the clerk, “These are on me.” Grinning back towards her, “A peace offering and I’m not taking no for an answer.” If she wasn’t going to go to lunch with him he would at least buy it for her here.

And so he continued to be utterly ridiculous... that being said, having journalist friends wasn't necessarily a bad thing. She eyed him skeptically. "So... if I was to friend you, you'd help me?" she asked, tempted to see what could come of it. The man was all talk, but intel was intel and if he was half as snoopy as she knew some journalists could be, then he might be useful for something. Emily made an executive decision to ignore his sweetie comment, decking him would be counter productive to his proposed friending idea. Not that was would be his friend. It was an idea. But she did wonder... "so what fact do you have to support your claim that Mister Ferguson was corrupt?" Hhhhmmm? Where was his evidence? He'd written it, so where was the proof?

Jorge's continued flattery got him nowhere, she wasn't interested, it wasn't how she rolled, rather she waited patiently for the clerk to scan her items... honestly, what was taking him so long? It wasn't alchemy! He was right about finding someone who knew someone who would then know others... but the point he was trying to make was moot. One did not simply engage in such behaviours with criminals, or suspected criminals... or at least, not very often. She couldn't deny it didn't happen, but it wasn't as casually as he made it out to be.

The fact that he thought writing the 'truth' was rewarding amused her to know end, and she couldn't help but let out a light chuckle. "Flapping your lips and flexing your wrist is rewarding? Oh please.." again, he was rather good at being ridiculous. She began fiddling with the notes she extracted from her pocket, uncrimping them to note their values. His comment about her having brains and others getting in on favours, slid right off her. Again, she wasn't interested.

She knew Jorge was stubborn and persistent, that much she had figured from their interview, but she thought she was handling this ignoring thing quite well, that he'd get fed up and leave her be. Apparently not. Her hazel eyes locked on his, an eyebrow raised skeptically. So he hadn't meant to insult her, well he hadn't done a very good job at that. "Mmmmmm..." she grumbled, again, ignoring his flattery. Interesting? Her? Pfffft.

...
...

And Merlin, now he was paying for her? "That's not necessary," she tried to protest, even though it was futile. "Fine, thanks." Annnddd she supposed if he wanted to tag along to her lonely park bench... she could hardly say no. She'd handle it. Noticing a charity collection tin on the counter, Emily stuffed her modest wad of notes into it.

This was getting more and more interesting or at least in his eyes it was. “Would depend on what I’m helping you with. You don’t know what I’ve done to get stories in the past. Everywhere I’ve worked.” He had been many places in the world. It was the excitement of finding the story that kept things interesting or was it the pushing of buttons especially cute ones. Both seemed just as fun to him. “The facts are right in front of you. Give me one case the man closed the entire time he was a department head.” He shook his head at the disbelief she had. Was she that blind or was friendship clouding her vision. “Kind of funny that a case that he was head of went to trial and she got away by portkey. Something internal had to have happen to let two portkeys slip through. My guess he was being paid off by her and her attorney and now him and his wife are enjoying youthfulness with her where ever they live now.”

He chuckled, she sure had a biased opinion about his profession, but of course she would. She was at the bad end of the stick when it came to articles. “It isn’t all flapping lips and flexing wrist. I am not afraid to go to any length to research for my stories. I’ll find those criminals you can’t if I have too. I’ve been to those pubs that you so prefer not to go to.” He had connections in some of those places as well. He was really hoping one would have spotted De Talone by now. How famous would he be if he could get an exclusive from the fugitive herself. “When I make a group of people has heated as it seems to have made your department it is rewarding, because now maybe some cases will get closed just to prove me wrong.” In the end inspiration was there in that article even if it was the negative kind.

He grinned as she realized he was paying whether or not she wanted him too. “It’s the least I could do.” He grinned and watched her slip money in the collection jar, “Well that’s nice of you.” He set his items down and paid for them as well. “I guess I won’t keep you any longer. It was very nice running into you Senorita.” He gave her another grin knowing it wouldn’t be the last they’d see of each other.

Was that his way of making himself sound all tough? She didn't know what he did to get stories? HA! He didn't know what she did to run down leads. In the end though, Emily came to two conclusions. The first, that he was immature and egotistical -- and not in an endearing way. Secondly, that he was blowing smoke up her skirt. He was, quite literally full of rubbish. None of it tangible.

As for the facts, it was still conjecture... nothing concrete and certainly it wasn't evidence. So she ignored this, she ignored him. Not worth fighting him on the topic, her energy would be conserved for more appropriate things, like work. Her brows did raise considerably at his comment. 'I’ll find those criminals you can’t if I have too.' He was looking to get slapped, wasn't he? He was asking to be hexed. Cracking her neck, because of the kink he was putting in it, Emily inhaled a deep breath and exhaled before shaking her head in response. She was disappointed, that's what she was. On the plus side, she didn't have to kill him, it seemed he would do a good job of getting that done all by himself. No blood need be on her hands.

Instead, she decided to focus on the gooood that could be taken away from this experience, he had a little bit of chivalry in him... even if it was fueled by his ego and... something else. "Like I said, thanks," she repeated, only her tone was a bit more pleasant this time. Ugh. She couldn't help but grin and shake her head at his remark though. "What can I say, I'm a nice person..." on the inside. And charity was her thing, she did it regularly, even if it was for selfish reasons. Glad to have the opportunity to leave, Emily nod her head goodbye, "sure... though hopefully next time it won't be so literal." The running into each other that is. Honestly though, if she never saw him again, it would only be too soon. She could live without the journalist in her life.

Water bottle, sandwich and chocolates in hand, she finally turned to leave the store. She still had enough time to stop by the park, even if it wouldn't be long before she had to return to work.
