She was still holding his donuts! "Sorry, I was distracted. Here, they're yours," she said, handing them over to him, but she kept her granola bar to herself that she had bought for the train ride. Speaking of, she realized she only had a short amount of time left when she looked at the skinny watch on her wrist. "I should probably get going anyway. Train to catch..." Eh, she had a few minutes.
Of course he would talk about his sister that way. "My memory may be lacking, but I only remember one Wanda at Ho--... H..igh school." Yeaaah. High school. They went to High School together. Not Hogwarts. One of a kind, right. William chuckled a little too and sort of pointed at her hair. "That's one of a kind, I'll tell you what." Her hair was like... like what came out of a firecrab's bum. Would it be weird if he told her that?
"Thanks, you want one?" He opened the package up and popped a powdery donut into his mouth. She had a train to catch? Funny, him too. He munched through the donut, swallowed, and gave her a quizzical look. "Late for a train? Where are you headed?" He surely still had a half hour to catch his.... but maybe he should check. Willy leaned in toward January. "What time is it anyway?"
High school. Haha yeah that. "Right, Wanda from high school. It's kinda weird seeing people you haven't seen in years outside of school, huh." Unless you hung out with them all the time anyway, like he still did.

Unless you hung out with them all the time anyway, like he still did. What, her hair? She let out a short laugh. "As if you've never seen red hair before." Sure, it was rare, but he was just being silly. Or was he making fun of her? She swatted his hand just in case.
January shook her head. "No, I'm good, thanks." She smiled at the offer, but there were just a little too many processed carbs in there for her. And she didn't want to get powdered sugar all over her face. Where was she headed? "Just north a ways, near Cambridge. Visiting my dad for the weekend." If she was lucky, her sister would be there, too. But they never knew with her. January took another peek at her watch, just as William leaned towards her. She held her wrist out. "It's about ten after. I suppose I have... twenty minutes or so." She always liked to be early, though.
Nodding in agreement, she rocked back on her heels a little bit. "Weird, but oddly... nice, I suppose. Especially since I didn't really keep in touch with anyone." She gave him a small smile. She wasn't one for really holding onto the past, but it was good to see someone again after so long. Good to know how small the world really was. |

Are you sure you aren't a Weasley?" He wrinkled his nose at her playfully but moved his pointer finger away. It was actually very pretty hair, in addition to being rare.
Alright, her loss. He probably had some powdered sugar all over his face but he didn't really care. So in went another donut. Aww, darn, Cambridge wasn't too far away from here. He had a much longer ride, so... maybe he should save these donuts. Willy folded over the package and tucked it away into a side pocket. "I'm headed to York. Same train, probably." Imagine that.
He returned her smile with a knowing one. "Well, if you ever want to keep in touch with someone..." Man, this was going to be weird. What if she said no?! Willy was pretty certain his face was starting to redden already. "You can owl me, sometime." And after offering that, he shrugged and started fiddling with his coffee cup in case she said no. It was just a friendly offer, was all. Just bein' friendly.

It was just a friendly offer, was all. Just bein' friendly. Now she was getting flustered. Flustered? THAT was rare. But he was teasing her! "Oh, stop, it's always been this red. You should see my sister's hair. It's even brighter." And her little niece's hair might have even been more so. It ran in the family. "I think I would know if I was Weasley." By the way.
York was north, too. So maybe they would be on the same train. "Oh, probably," she said with a small smile. What a coincidence. Maybe they could continue their small talk to pass the time on the train.
January may not have been incredibly observant when it came to... some things, but she noticed the red and fiddling. Noticed it, but didn't think anything of it, of course. Another smile spread on her face at his offer. "Yeah? I'll keep that in mind," she replied pleasantly. "What do you say we see about that train?" she asked with another glance to her watch. She was curious to see if they'd be on the same train now. |

She was curious to see if they'd be on the same train now. He was teasing her, and was maybe seeing how she'd react. Just for curiosity's sake. "Did your sister go to Ho--- uh, High School with us?" He'd think he'd remember a whole family of Weasleys there. Heh heh. "You'd think, but you can't be too sure. They had LOADS of offspring you know." Though a true Weasley would be in Gryffindor. Probably.
Well then. Willy calmly sipped his coffee, peeking at January over the edge of his cup a little bit, and waited for his cheeks to cool down. Whew, she seemed to be okay with the idea of owling him. Not that he, like, expected her to or anything. Whew. Whew.
Willy lowered his coffee cup and gave her a happy nod. "You know, we probably should head over there." He got the door for her, since they were going to the same place and all. Mostly.

Sometimes it depended on the person to how she reacted to teasing. This person was okay, apparently, since she was smiling. But about her sister, "Not with us," she replied. "She's quite a bit older. 15 years, actually." For one reason or another, her parents had decided they wanted another child when their first was already a fifth year at Hogwarts. What a shock Katherine had coming home after the school year to find her mother looking as if she swallowed a whole pumpkin. "She was a Snake, though." Fun fact. She laughed again. "I promise I'm not a Weasley." But HE was a persistent little joker.
You know what? She liked this guy. Nice fellow. "Good idea," she replied, turning towards the door just as he opened for her. How nice. "Thanks," she said and slipped through with a shiver. Oh, yeah. Much colder out there. |

Artemis Pleasant Magical Games & Sports | Artemis couldn't help but drop into the convenience store, admittedly a place for muggles but then again she somewhat missed muggle life...
Somehow.
So she started looking around to see whether or not there were any magazines that caught her attention... and then she'd have to look for some snacks. Cookies, and chocolate and all those good things! |

Javier had gone into the first shop that he'd seen, not really knowing where he was. He'd finally settled into his apartment, but then again the only furniture there was currently a bed, and he definitely had to stock up on food.
And he knew that he couldn't just keep apparating back to his mums at odd hours in England for food, or in the middle of the night there to get some food to just quickly heat up. His mum was already making fun of him enough as it was.
So that's how he ended up at a muggle convenience store, noticing another woman standing in one of the isles looking at all those funny muggle magazines where none of the pictures moved. Somehow he wasn't sure if he wanted to approach her though, not sure whether she was a muggle or a witch.
Instead he just looked at all the muggle food, looking a bit like a lost puppy. This wasn't going to end well... |

Instead he just looked at all the muggle food, looking a bit like a lost puppy. This wasn't going to end well... As she kept flipping through magazines, the brunette thought that there was someone that was watching her, and looking around the store she saw a guy who was looking at all sorts of food as if he didn't understand what anything was.
Immediately she started giggling, figuring that he was probably a wizard who probably hadn't been at a muggle store before. "Need any help?" she asked him, right as she found herself next to him... though depending on what he ended up reacting she figured she might pretend that she was a muggle... that would definitely be an interesting conversation... of course that would also mean that if she ran into him at the ministry she'd have a lot of explaining to do.
Or if she saw him anywhere she'd have to try her hardest to run and hide. No... that would just be way to much effort. |

His mother had phoned and Jasper, not wanting to cause a fuss agreed readily to pick up some muggle medicine on his way home from work. It was out of his way. Far out of his way. But when you're considered the wayward son you took up the opportunities to prove you weren't as they came. It had been a while for him since he'd been in a completely muggle area and as he turned to head down to where they kept the medications he caught a small turnable, wire book-rack filled with paperbacks. He stopped and his eyes focused on some long-ago published relic of his childhood.

'Choose Your Own Adventure' it read. João didn't like cold weather, but London forced him to. He didn't like driving on the left side, but he had to. He didn't like hearing that stiff British accent every time, but he hardly met another foreigner. Naturally, he didn't like snacks, but he loathed British cuisine. He couldn't cook, didn't have a cook, couldn't afford world restaurants every day.
The result? A teeth-gritting, on-edge customer making his way to the muggle store to grab his usual hot-dog. He hardly looked around but saw the wizard (OBVIOUSLY) there looking at muggle medication. He wondered why for only a split of a second, then turned his attention back at the stupid hog dogs that had been his dinner for at least twice a week. |

Jasper parked the trolley nearby a man, who Jasper thought looked very cold. Very, very cold with his gritted teeth. Up close his small purple and green token could be seen more easily so that any of the magical world might easily identify him as one of their own. He had learned from previous experience that it was a good thing in case one found oneself in a situation that undoubtedly would call for back-up.
In the middle of studying the side-effects of an antacid, Jasper felt suddenly overwhelmed by the sheer amount of choice. He'd been living in the magical world too long, not that he was ever terribly familiar with muggle healing medications. His mother always having administered potions whenever the need was present. Maybe the cold man could offer some assistance.
"Ah, excuse me, but I was wondering..." Jasper and at least three different boxes were stepping over to João. "Do you know which of these might work best for stomach ailments?"

"Ah, excuse me, but I was wondering..." Jasper and at least three different boxes were stepping over to João. "Do you know which of these might work best for stomach ailments?" ...actually, those hot dogs didn't look very healthy and clean anymore. The more João thought about eating one again, the more nauseous he felt. So much that he was almost grateful for the question of the man--something to distract him from looking disgusted and offending the shopkeeper who he interacted with almot every day.
He fully turned to the man, taking the liberty to study his face more carefully, before his eyes fell on the boxes. "I think..." he said, examining the boxes one by one. He still wasn't overly friendly, but comparing with his entrance to the shop, he looked like the most helpful person on earth. "This should have the lightest side-effect. My father uses it too," he said and shrugged. He clearly was no expert on muggle medicine, but he was somewhat better at it than many wizards too.
Perks of being a muggleborn. Disadvantages of being horrible at anything related to 'curing'. |

Someone with Jasper's particular history made it exceedingly difficult to wash that comment away as mere coincidence for Jasper had learned that there were no such things as coincidences. The word 'father' in particular caused him to give João a certain...look. And he tried to remember. Had he said 'father'? Did he mutter something under his breath, perhaps?
No, he didn't think he did. Jasper gripped the box indicated by the man and set the others down before coming back. "Your father? That's funny. This medicine is for my dad as well." He said through an uncomfortable laugh. The man had an accent he noticed, but not one which he could easily identify right away. "Thank you, by the way. I'm sure he'll be very grateful."
"Are you from around here?" He was feeling a bit more like a bubbly Ravenclaw at the moment and he never minded befriending a muggle.

João wasn't a person to be intimidated by looks, so he just kept his casual manner. He didn't know why the man was observing him. He was trying to guess his accent, perhaps? He had surely got some fans because of it.
He smiled politely at the comment, though he failed to see the 'funny' part. Fathers that had sons their age were supposed to take medication. What was the big deal about it to laugh uncomfortably? "You're welcome, sir," he said and before he had any chance to excuse himself, he was asked the famous question. "No, I'm not." He didn't feel the need to say where he was from though, because that wasn't what the man had asked. "Are you?" More importantly, was he a muggle? Or maybe muggleborns couldn't bring their parents to St. Mungo's? He frowned slightly. He had never questioned that before... he had to ask it to someone. |

Or maybe muggleborns couldn't bring their parents to St. Mungo's? He frowned slightly. He had never questioned that before... he had to ask it to someone. Other than his smile, which seemed perhaps only polite, Jasper found the man to be quite reserved in his manner. Although, Jasper thought it a bit unfair to conclude that the man was unfriendly, perhaps just a bit on the surly side; saying only what need be said and unwasteful of words. His own father, the Admiral Mitterbill for whom Jasper was buying medicine, was very much like that. Yet another striking coincidence?
"Oh." He kept his answer short whilst still wanting to show a level of comprehension. "I'm from London, yes. But not originally. My family is from Portsmouth." The man hadn't said where he was from, although Jasper wished to imply an answer. He had decided that he was alright with that and that it would be rude to insist upon an answer. He liked his own privacy to be respected, afterall.
"And, I'm sorry. I wasn't laughing at you, it's just that...Well, do you believe in fate, Mr...? I'm sorry I didn't catch your name." He said indirectly asking the gentleman, before he thought that a more direct approach might be best due to the man's afore given short answers. "What was it?"

He said indirectly asking the gentleman, before he thought that a more direct approach might be best due to the man's afore given short answers. "What was it?" João nodded as he had completely turned towards the man and showed he was focused on their conversation. It was rude not listening to what people said after all, and João was careful to pay attention to their words. He considered telling where he was from too, but he had already lost the chance. Besides, he barely knew the man but had heard a lot of stories about attacks on foreign people just because they were a foreigner and weren't supposed to know the country well.
Fate? He chuckled. "Neves, João Neves." He didn't directly ask for his name as many people would say it without his asking. Instead, he took his time answering the question as he thought about the best and honest response. "I'm testing it," he said at last, eyes back on the man's. "I don't want to believe, but the circumstances are forcing me to. I take it you believe in it?" |

"João Neves. Oh, you're Brazilian." Jasper said with a smile. He was no expert on accents of the world, but he felt reasonably certain that Neves was either Portuguese or Brazilian. With the fifty-fifty odds, he took a swing at it figuring that the the worst that could happen was he would be wrong.
His pleased expression intensified and mingled with curiosity at João's unusual answer. Most people Jasper had met wouldn't even entertain the thought of their destiny being controlled by a force such as fate, much less shared that notion. They tended to be either firm believers or hard-nosed skeptics. It gave Jasper the impression that João was unusual himself. Not one of the sorts to lie to himself. He probably faced everything head-on and when he was done with something, quit cold-turkey and never looked back.
Hehehee. Cool.
"I do believe in it, João. Very much so. There again, I have spent a large portion of my life studying it. And although there are some exceptions to the rule, most of us do no escape it." And then Jasper's curiosity got the better of him. "What do you mean you're testing it? Do you mean that you've been giving the rare opportunity to see the results of your fate-given choices right away?" Oh, how interesting! Jasper was glad he'd asked the man about stomach soothers 'n such.

Jasper was glad he'd asked the man about stomach soothers 'n such. João was sure that with the blonde hair he looked more of an European, but the man must have seen something else in him to guess correctly. "Yes, I am," he said and expected him to tell his name in return, but he was served with the subject of fate. That made him smile faintly. This man wasn't any softie. He LIKED that.
With a habit that passed onto him from his girlfriend--the word still felt funny at times--he studied the face of the man as he spoke. The Brazilian was interested in the subject and it showed on his face. He cocked his head to one side as he tried to guess just which profession could deal with 'fate'. "What I mean is..." He paused as he thought the correct way of putting it. "I'm questioning my control on some events in my life. I'm trying to see whether I had a choice or whether a set of consequences led me to where I am." He opened his mouth to continue the conversation, but noticed the muggle shopkeeper there. Although the man never confirmed it, João had a strong feeling that he was a wizard and 'fate' couldn't be discussed in front of muggles. "I believe we are blocking other customers' way," he said with an edge to his voice. He wanted to ask questions to the man but he was afraid it would be rude. He could see the man was interested in the subject too, but João wasn't in any position to demand anything. It would also sound intimidating to him to meet at somewhere else later. "I hope that helps," he said, nodding slightly at the medicine. "It was nice to meet you." Whose name he still don't know. He lingered there one more moment to see whether the man would follow him, then slowly got out.
He meant it when he said he was interested, but he wasn't going to directly insist on continuing it. |

Ethan glanced curiously at the Muggle convenience store from across the street, walking towards Diagon Alley after his brief visit with his aunt at the Ministry. Not that he had never been to one before, though he had never been to that particular one, but the thought hit him that he might go in and get a couple things before he went home. Like Diet Coke.
The Muggle stores near home had them, but he didn't venture out of the wizarding community all that much. So since he was here, he figured he could take a look inside and see what he could find. Ethan quickly crossed the street, then headed inside, slowing his steps as he entered. Yeah, this one was not unlike the others he had visited with their rows and aisles of sustenance and necessity. It shouldn't be too hard to find what he was looking for. He began wandering down an aisle prevalent with bags of pretzels and crisps.

You'd think three years of walking in Diagon Alley would get Wade use to the entire area. He had enough time left over before going to meet up with Luc and Bart again, wherever they went. Wade was a little hungry too, and craving a nice pickle sandwich or something made with pickles.
He headed towards the local store outside the area, where most Muggles usually were but mixed with other wizards and witches. Wade had it planned out, he could get some crisps and a nice bottle, before heading back to-
*Blink* Wade tilted his head slightly, squinting a bit, before the left corner of his mouth curved upward. " Ethan?" What a coincidence. " Hey, how've you been?" His arms reached out to give him a hug. Hufflepuff habits died hard, you know.

Yeah.. that looked like the familiar silver with red stripe and lettering and he steered his steps deliberately in that direction. But.. where were the cans? He saw the bottles, where they that different other than the amount of liquid inside? He thought not and reached for one of the 2 liters just as he saw a case of the cans on one of the lower shelves out of his peripheral vision.
Yeah, he thought Min would prefer that and he started to crouch down to pull it off the shelf when a voice behind him made him stop and turn around. "Oh.. hey Wade." The 19 year old's initial look of surprise soon transformed into a grin at the sight of his friend. Oh and hugging was happening.. Ethan was cool with that and returned the embrace. "I've been good. Recently got a job with the German Ministry and just taking care of things.. what about you? Good summer so far?" It hadn't been all that long since he had seen Wade, but you know, what was new?

It had been a while since Ethan and Wade got to catch up. Wade thought of Ethan as such a cool guy, and Ethan.. well, Wade was never really too sure on how exactly Ethan thought of him, but he knew he was being trusted. Trusted with him looking out for Min while he couldn't the whole year, and now that they were together again, it made Wade super happy to know they both were happy again.
Releasing him along with those sudden thoughts, he beamed at the news, " Really? That's awesome man! So what department do you work in?" Just another reason to be happy for him, now as for Wade. " I've been alright.. Just been spending most of my time with the family and Indy. Helping take care of my little sisters and all." Shrugging like it was no big deal, when it actually was in a positive way. " So.. what are you up to?" As if it wasn't obvious where they were, but there was always a reason for doing things.

Ethan stood back a bit, the Diet Coke forgotten for now, and looked back at Wade with a small, friendly smile, eager to catch up a bit. No, it hadn't been long since he had seen him last, but they hadn't had much time to talk and catch up last time he had seen him, which happened to be at his wedding. Not that he was all that sure they have a whole lot of time today either being a chance meeting at a little Muggle store. They'd have to set aside some real time to hang out or something.
He smiled a bit bigger as Wade seemed genuinely happy about his news. "Yeah, it's not bad, I'm enjoying it.." Well, as much as anyone could enjoy a job, he supposed, but he thought it was a pretty decent one. "It's in environmental protection, working with plants of course." He chuckled a bit. Anyone who knew him would know that would be no surprise. "So, I hear you're planning on going to University? Studying Magical Creatures, right?" At least that's what he had thought.. but he knew plans could change at the drop of a hat. Oh, yeah.. sisters. Ethan thought he had heard something like that. "Twins, right? I'm sure they're great," he said with a grin. And probably a lot of work, he couldn't imagine to be expecting two at the same time, but a blessing all the same.
Up to? Ethan looked at Wade curiously for a moment before realizing what he meant.. and remembering the Diet Coke. "Thought I'd pick up a little treat for Min," he said with a knowing smile. "She loves this Muggle drink." He reached down and pulled a box of the cans off the bottom shelf. "What about you?" What was Wade doing in a Muggle convenience store of all places?

| Puff by day, snake by night | Mj's bestie | Always UP to Something... Jorge had popped into the muggle store. He looked around. He had been coming from a meeting at the ministry and had avoided level seven today for his own freaking out reasons. Lost in those reasons he walked around the store looking for a soda or something he wasn't sure, but his mind was back in Spain. The fun they had together and how much his family liked Mariel. Was he crazy to be freaking out about a possible good thing? He knew his reasons why this sort of feeling was not allowed and his game was just to pick up women have fun and move on. So why was this so different.
He turned the corner in the aisle and found some candy, he wasn't really that big on just candy. He'd rather have dessert not just a candy bar, but this would do for now. Smiling at some of the muggle worker or well he figured they were muggle workers he wondered if some fun could be had and tried to shake the guilt off that was for some reason creeping into his mind. Jorge was off his game and he couldn't quite figure it out. Pulling a liter of soda from the cooler he started to make his way up to the register.
