As she sat listening she noticed Beijing leaning closer to her so Victoria tilted her head to hear what her colleague wanted to say. It seemed they didn't have much else to add, so Laura nodded toward Jasmine to make sure her colleague had gotten down all the notes before she moved on.

"I'm glad you asked about how to be more 'green,' Miss Smith," Laura said. Then, addressing all three of them: "Because for our second question, I'd like to know what your take is. What do you think you could do to be more environmentally friendly?" Merlin, she loved hearing about all this environmental stuff!

Victoria smiled feeling like a student who just pointed out something important. She missed those days at Hogwarts. It's been a long time, huh? She was hit with a surge of memories and nostalgia. Not that it was the time for that now.

She paused thinking of an answer. "I guess, there's recycling," She had heard about that being brought up on several occasions but to be honest she never gave it much thought.

Apparently, it was important. Because the environment was important.

Scribble....scribble....scribble.....Not to harm any tree or plant in public places....."Got it" she thought to herself and then she put her pen down to make sure she was listening intently.

Victoria glanced at the other lade whose name was Jasmine. She saw her scribbling down. She shouldn't have problem copying off what Victoria was saying since she wasn't talking fast and wasn't even saying a lot. It probably was showing that the secretary's knowledge on the environment was kinda shallow and needed to be revived. Good thing she was here when they showed up. The blond smiled over at Jasmine. Being nice and all.

She nodded her head in reply, not speaking so as to remain listening to the speakers from the environmental department. She was sure that Victoria being the secretary would be the one to worry about signing the meeting in, not Beijing.

As the questions progresses, Beijing laughs out loud when Victoria said I guess there's recycling, stating the obvious. "Haha, there's always recycling" she said light heartedly, answering Laura's question.
"And I'm sure there's lots of other things we could do too" she returned with a more serious tone. With wizarding innovations, Beijing was unaware of many of the green procedures that existed. She considered asking the same question back to Laura, to find out. Only this was more of a survey, not an information session. It couldn't hurt to ask she thought, she would not be doing anything wrong by asking "What are some things we can do to be more green?"

Laura nodded at the recycling suggestion that both Miss Smith and Miss Pain made and waited expectantly for a moment. Oh, was that all they had? No matter. There were plenty of ways to be environmentally-friendly that most people probably overlooked. Well, Laura wasn't sure if Roxanne had meant for this assignment to entail a brief rundown of information at the end of questioning, but since Miss Pain had asked, she didn't see any harm in it.

"Yes, recycling is important, but there are lots of easy ways to make your lifestyle more environmentally-friendly, although they're not as obvious as recycling," she said. "For example, skipping Muggle modes of transportation like cars and buses, which run on gasoline. Or being conscious of electricity, water, and paper consumption." Laura paused. Those were relatively simple examples and should be pretty easy to remember.

Taking a few fliers from her pile, she handed one to each of the Level One employees. "Well, that's about it. Thank you all for your time!" Laura said. These guys had helped get this survey off the ground smoothly, and she was grateful. "Does anyone have any more questions before we conclude?"

He listened to what his two colleagues were saying and nodded, they had a few really good ideas. But when he heard what Laura was saying he frowned, not using Muggle transportation's? No, that was not a good idea and he refused to not use them, so no, he didn't wanted to agree with that. He shook his head when he looked at her but needed to agree that it was a good idea to be careful with using water, electricity and paper consumption, he could TRY to do that, when he had time enough for it.

"No, i haven't any questions, you were very clear" said HyunJoong after he had accepted the fliers and he made again a polite bow with his head and looked at his watch to see if he had still enough time to do his work on time.

Living separate from muggles most of the time, Beijing had not considered muggle transportation. That was a good idea, muggles transportation was way more destructive to the environment compared to wizarding transportation. She would have to bring this up with her muggle sister next time they met and inform her of exactly how bad driving around in cars can be. She will never have guessed. Such a good idea.

She nodded and listened to the rest of Laura's answer and accepted the flier. She did have one more question. Holding up her paper she asked,"is there anywhere specific you would like us to put up the fliers?"

Laura smiled satisfyingly. She glanced over at Jasmine, certain that she had had no problem in taking down notes. She would offer to switch jobs with her next time and give her coworker's writing hand a break.

"Very well, if there are no other questions about the environment, then let's wrap this up," she said, getting to her feet. "Remember that if you have any questions or concerns along the road, you're more than welcome to come by Level Four." She offered a hand to each of them to shake in parting.

"Ahh, the fliers," Laura said, turning to Miss Pain. "You can keep them wherever you'd like. Put them up by your desks or on an office bulletin board. Just promise me that if you decide to get rid of them, you'll recycle them." she said with a wink. Then, she picked up her work bag and the rest of the fliers and headed out the door. She and Jasmine still had a lot of floors to get through.

Jasmine heard that Laura was wrapping up the meeting. She looked up from her note taking. Then she saw them and it look like chicken scratch but she can decipher them, that is all that counts right...? Yup.

Jasmine looked up and noticed Laura was getting the fliers around the table. She smiled and nodded to all the people who participated. She waved at them and then she made a suggestion...."Maybe you can give the fliers to your friends and family to remember to be green? I mean i know some people think it is lame to recycle but you guys can make a difference." she offered them the advice.

Jasmine packed up her stuff and left with Laura. They still have many floors to do. This was gonna be a long day.....

Victoria sat silent nodding to what Laura was saying. As the secretary lived in wizarding London she had no use for Muggles transportation ways. Why would she when she could just apparate or use floo networks. But it still was good to be reminded maybe she'd just pass it on to people who didn't know about that.

The secretary wasn't proud that her knowledge in the environmental field was that shallow. But it was the truth and she wasn't going to pretend that she knew much and make stuff. She just listened to the two level-four employees and her colleagues. They seemed to be interested in all this pretty much like her.

Once Laura said they were done, Victoria smiled at her and Jasmin, "Thank you for dropping by. This was really enlightening."She said to them and she meant it , it was good to be reminded of other things and learn about them too.

"We will hang those flyers around," She said looking around to see where the best location for them was.

When the two woman headed out, Victoria stood and walked with them. "Have a good day," Though it seemed that they had quite a long day ahead of them.

With that she looked around at the others. Time for all of them to get ack to their posts.

Default New Meeting ^^
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite

First meeting as Senior Undersecretary. His face would never give away the level of social anxiety he was feeling right now but on the inside he had to remind himself that this was the new job description, interacting with people more regularly then when he needed a potion tested.

Gavin straightened out his shirt as he entered the Conference Room. Forgive the smirk as he realized he would be the centre of this meeting as opposed to sitting in a seat and listening to a voice that wasn't his. The idea was growing on him quickly.

The man took his seat and placed the folder he'd brought with him just beside the small saucer currently holding a muffin. He leaned back in his seat, reaching for his cup of coffee, might as well while he waited. With any luck, these people were more punctual than the ones back in Mysteries.

The Minister would be here too if he was correct.

First meeting at her new job and Ainsley was excited and nervous... really she was a big ball of emotions. She loved to work and do a good job. She really hoped that everybody was nice. She could work with any personality, but people needed to have manners.

As she made her way to the conference room she looked down at her dress to make sure there wasn't any lint or wrinkles. Oh no, she took pride in her appearance and she wouldn't have it ruined by an unsightly wrinkle.

Ainsley was still pretty stoked that she had already met the minister. Maybe that was a sign that good things were to come when it came to her career. One could only hope. As she made her way into the conference room she only noticed one other person. She didn't know who he was, of course she didn't know who anybody was. She walked over to him boldly and held out her hand. "Hello! My name is Ainsley Scarsdale."

João WAS punctual--10 minutes before the meeting, to be exact. This was the first meeting ever, and he knew people conversed before meetings. As it was the first one, he was going to have a small chat with the new Senior Undersecretary and other employees that might have arrived early too. Impression was everything in politics, and he was going there to impress them.

Knocking once on the door, he stepped in just in time to hear the lady's name. His black suit's jacket was buttoned, it was neatly ironed and not even one piece of dust could be seen. His hair was combed heatly--seperated from the middle to both sides--and he had shaved that morning.

"Good morning," he greeted them kindly and walked to them. "João Neves." Once they were done shaking hands, he offered his hand first to the man, then to lady and smiled at both of them politely.

The first few people were beginning to trickle in. These were the early ones by his watch and the clock staring at him from just across the room. He liked that. Punctuality said a lot about an individual. It told him they weren't keen on wasting his time which, as you can imagine, is a precious commodity.

The first of the two to greet him was a woman. A hand?

Oh...

That was apart of greetings, was it not? The whole contact thing? He would have suggested everyone simply nodding in greeting but that wouldn't have been very professional. Gavin took the woman's hand and gave it a firm shake, here's to hoping she wasn't a clinger. They were the reason he disliked handshakes. Holding on longer than they should. Merlin! "It's a pleasure meeting you Ms. Scarsdale--may I call you Ainsley?" He'd be working with her afterall and on his former level he didn't take to going around, calling everyone Mister and Miss.

He was set to offer his own name when they were joined by the second of the two. Gavin jumped at the second offering of a hand, leaving the first hand shake somewhat short. The second was too. A firm shake then he let go. "Hello Mr. Neves." Again, he was going to have to settle a naming arrangement thing. "The name's Gavin Isaacs. Gavin works fine."

He looked around, still not many people. They could hold off a bit longer. "Are you both new to this level?"......Because people did small talk....right? He needed a manual on all things social, it was official. Siiiip.

Queen of Typos | The OTHER OTHER Roro | WICKED is Good

She had a long and enjoyable holiday. She wished it had went on but do holidays ever? And despite her wanting the holiday to last she missed her job. It was a big part of her life and she couldn't really imagine being away for long. Such a dilemma she had there.

The blond received the note of the meeting they were having and immediately left her office and headed to the conference room. A new senior undersecretary, huh? She was curious to know about this new man. Is he anything like the former ones? Only one way to find out.

With her high-heels clicking against the floor, the secretary entered the room and was seated in her usual seat. Good thing no one occupied it, she was too used to it.

She looked around taking in the faces. The new faces. "Good day, ladies and gentlemen," Although it was only one lady. "Victoria Smith, secretary," She introduced herself to the new peeps. Oh, and they were shaking hands? She would have totally gone ahead to shake hands with them all but she already was seated.

Siiiip.
A nice firm handshake said a lot about a person, and she could tell that this one was very businesslike and perhaps didn’t like the whole contact thing. Oh well, introducing ones’ self with a proper handshake was good manners no? Oh well, she let the thought roll right off her shoulders. She was always going to greet new people with an extended hand.

Her eyes were bright and she had a constant smile. Life was beautiful mmmkay! ”The pleasures all mine sir.” There she went with her manners again. It was something that she couldn’t just turn off. ”Ainsley will just be dandy for me dear.” He wanted them to call him Gavin? Well, she personally didn’t like that, but she would do what was asked of her.

”I’m new to the ministry actually.” She tried not to ramble… she was good at that sometimes.

Oh dear, in her haste to shake Gavin’s hand she had completely left out a guy that was trying to introduce himself. ”Where are my manners?” She offered him her hand in greeting. At least this one knew that handshakes were the way to go. “It’s nice to meet you João.” she said returning the smile.

Ainsley turned to the sound of high heels making their way into the conference room. She watched as the lady went straight for her seat. Hmm… maybe this was not her first day on the job, but didn’t see realize that there were new faces. Ainsley herself was new at least. Tsk, tsk. Manners really did go a long way.

Oh, she speaks? She was just going to return the greeting from where she was standing, but decided that she would not shout across the room. Ainsley walked over to where the woman was sitting and extended her hand. ”Pleasure to meet you Victoria. I’m Ainsley Scarsdale.” Maybe she would learn from her example? Ainsley loved helping people after all.

An undersecretary who hated hand-shakes?

...okay, not. It WASN'T okay. João's mind couldn't understand the concept. It was plain stupid. Politics was ALL about contact. Maybe this wasn't the politics floor? Maybe these Brits got his application wrong? Merlin. Rising the steps in here shouldn't take him long.

"Pleasure to meet you, Gavin," he said kindly to him, his features hardly betraying his BAD first impression. The lady? He had yet to decide, but she didn't cringe at hand-shaking, at least.

And no, 'just João' wouldn't work for him. Not for the time being, at least. So he didn't say anything, and instead shook the lady's hand.

...then a rude one that went to sit BEFORE looking at the faces. Merlin. Although they were two different floors, João could see why Aspen disliked it here a lot. They got even ruder every year, these Brits did. The idea of sitting straight without acknowledging the woman crossed his mind, but he was new here and one never knew what the other was capable of. So, although he was SENIOR to her in position, he still went to HER to shake hands with a polite smile. Surely she had heard his name? Because he wasn't repeating it, in case she missed while looking for a seat.

After the handshakes were done, João sat somewhere in the middle too and turned to Gavin.

"I am new too." Surely they must have noticed his different and somewhat curt accent?

Then clicking of heels caught his attention long before the woman entered the room. Yet another employee he would have to know the name of. At first he thought it was good he'd brought his files, what with the way she just immediately took her seat but then she gave a brief introduction. Did he mind terribly that she took a seat without coming to greet him first? Not at all. One less handshake to smile through. Were it him he'd have done the same, in fact it was what he was used to doing. "Good day Ms. Smith. Glad you could join us." While the others had been early, she'd merely been on time. Nothing he would complain about.

And she was the secretary, he would probably be working with her quite often, no? "Please, help yourself to come of the snacks, we'll be beginning in a moment." And someone had taken the time to make these. No need to make them go to waste.

And there it was, that subtle look the woman wore. As he'd proven before, he was excellent at reading others. It came from years of sitting on the sidelines and merely observing everything as opposed to jumping in and getting himself involved. Still, he appreciated her effort at passing off her disapproval. Not willing to speak against authority, she was a keeper. He grimaced somewhat at the 'dear'. That would have to be a no.

"The Ministry itself? Well then, welcome. You did the right thing coming to this level, no greater service than to the Minister who directly impacts the wider wizarding world." Oh so he'd been told. For now, he would go with it. "I look forward to working with you."

And what do we have here? Another stick in the mud. He supposed it was to be expected. This was the Minister's Office. Everything here would be a bit more formal? There was no point in changing it, too hard with the mindset of people. Something he'd have to bring up once the meeting started.

Given his current position, he couldn't yawn his displeasure, no, he sat upright and nodded at Mr. Neves. Also new.

He glanced down at his watch. It was about time to start. "I think we'll begin the meeting now. The Minister will arrive when he does and will be briefed on anything he might miss afterwards." That was the best he could do. There was a thing about punctuality. Once people made the effort, it was only rude to make them wait.

"Right off the bat, I can tell you're all at least willing to follow instructions." He glanced first at Ainsley then at Mr. Neves, an amused smile on his face. "Neither of you are taken in by first names, but neither of you spoke up. Whether that's a good thing or not, I don't know yet, but it's promising. I'll accept Mr. Isaacs." That was going to take some getting used to. "But we aren't here to discuss the naming arrangements on this level. As you've all heard, or walked in here today and suddenly realized, I'm the new Senior Undersecretary." They all knew this, yes?

"Now I understand the major project at the moment is..." He flipped through the folder for a moment, "Redecorating for the Minister. How's that coming along?" From what he'd come to understand, even the new employees had been briefed, yes? Input? "And the dress code? How's that?"

"Thank you for the warm welcome." Even though it really didn't seem so warm to her. She knew when people were genuinely nice and when they were only being a certain way because they didn't have a choice. She didn't think the new senior undersecretary was necessarily rude, but he was not warm by nature. "I happen to think that I have made a good choice in applying here." Too much? Obviously, everybody in this department would think that it was a wise choice right? "I look forward to working with everybody and utilizing my skills to the benefit of the ministry." She was shutting up now. Everything that she said was true, but she didn't want to sound like a butt kisser.

How did he know that the didn't like to be on a first name basis with authority? She could have sworn that she did not give off a vibe when she first learned that about the man. This one was good... she was going to have to keep her eyes on him. She would do what she needed to do to impress who she needed to impress. She had bills to pay you know!

Major project? She hadn't been breifed on much of anything. She didn't want to bring this to Mr. Gavin's attention because she did not want to throw anybody under the bus. She hoped that the others would speak up about it.
What about the dress code? Err... if he was taking ideas she would say that they should be yellow because that was the color of sunshine and sunshine was nice. Still, she kept her mouth shut. The last thing she wanted to do was sound like she was not an educated woman!

Zach walked in on the conversation with the new employees and the new Senior Undersecretary which he hasn't formally met yet, due to the mountain of paperwork on his desk. He looked at Ainsley and João and then to Victoria whom he gave a smile to. He then spoke, "Good day, Mr. Senior Undersecretary." he said in a polite tone, then listened in to the discussion.

Aha, the new project. Zach raised his hand and said, "Please, sir." he said trying not to interrupt. "The project is on its initial phase, I have asked the Admin Supervisor and the Secretaries to ask around and do some research which will be due on the day after tomorrow." he said looking at Victoria.

"Once that is finished, we will formulate the proposal and present it to you, and the Minister for approval." he said looking satisfied and confident.

Mr. Isaacs was better for João too, but he didn't say anything. He simply looked at the man with interest to what he had to say. He kept silent as first Aisnley spoke, and had to stiffle a snort. Whether that had been her intention or not, she did sound like a butt kisser, but who was João to be rude to ladies? Instead, she got polite looks too and his attention turned to the Junior Undersecretary.

Hmm... João didn't know any of these.

Once he was finished, he cleared his throat to indicate he was going to speak.

"I know my job description, sir," he started, addressing Mr. Isaacs, "but it's my first day here, as well as Ms. Scarsdale, I believe." He glanced over her before continuing. "So I haven't had any chance to see how it's going yet." He didn't know about Ainsley, though, so he left her out of his explanation.

Albert was not late, although he certainly arrived later than everyone else. He simply had too much on his plate, and he was pleased to have Gavin around to alleviate some of that responsibility. It left him to do the work of the Minister and not to administrate his own employees. The Minister for Magic entered the room and paced up to take a seat at the head of the table.

"Pardon my tardiness, Gavin, but the time go away from me. I hate to interrupt when I know you're settling everyone in, but perhaps I might say a few words?" He raised an eyebrow at the man before glancing across those gathered. Not everyone, but certainly a good turn-out.

Ms. Scarsdale was good at saying what sounded like a politically correct response. She worked here, it was expected she would only have nice things to say about her expectations thus far. He hoped she'd still be singing the same tune in a few months when the workload possibly doubled. Her lack of response to the actual question posed didn't go unnoticed but he wouldn't call her out on it. Better she'd remained quiet than if she'd said something stupid not entirely correct.

He looked to the man that entered the room shortly after his question. Now this man, he obviously knew what he was talking about and what was going on around the office. While he spoke, Gavin took to discreetly flipping through his files until he found what he was looking for. Zacharias McMillan, Junior Undersecretary. He liked what he saw. Clearly this man was well aware of the happenings around this level, as he should be given his job title.

Gavin was scribbling down the comments made by Mr. McMillan when Mr. Neves spoke up. First day here and he hadn't bothered to check the noticeboard before heading over to the meeting? The young man got an eyebrow raised in response but before a vocal response could be added they were joined by the Minister himself.

"Not a problem Sir, go right ahead." He said, giving a firm nod to the man. To want to interject, it must have been something note worthy, if only a little. In the mean time, he finished up the little jottings he'd begun taking.

Albert nodded to his Senior Undersecretary, who was a bit reticent but was extremely efficient. He had absolutely no doubt that the rest of the office would see his worth in no time at all. The Minister stood again and gave each of them a piercing look and a nod.

"For those who are new to this office, I am Albert Kettleburn, the Minister for Magic, and I welcome you to our inner sanctum. If you are returning, I hope you had a pleasant holiday and are prepared to return to work. Last year was a learning year for me - learning to do the job and learning who I could trust. This year is a building one, not just for me but for this entire office. We now have people in place throughout the building who are firmly onboard with our vision for where the Ministry is heading, and I trust them to do their jobs."

He looked once at his junior undersecretary and the secretary who had been so useful to him last year. They'd been invaluable, and they knew it. With Mr. Isaacs here, he had a solid core team, and with his new employees adding their skills to the mix... well. He was very satisfied. "I can do nothing without your assistance and hard work. I expect professionalism and loyalty from you, and in return, I promise the same. We will be loyal to each other, and I will be advocates for all of you in your career trajectories." So basically... if you did your job well and you were trustworthy, Albert was willing to take a personal interest in your career progression.

"That's all, Gavin. Please continue."

Ainsley listened intently to everything that was said. She even jotted down notes. She was always prepared, and you just never knew when you would need certain information. Sure she was new, but she wasn't going to let that hinder her. She would soak in all the information that she could.

Then the minister of magic himself entered the room. Ainsley couldn't help but to sit a bit straighter, not that she didn't already have perfect posture. She listened to his speech without taking her eyes off of him the entire time. Ainsley could read between the lines and she knew that if she played her cards right she would flourish in her career. Not that she would ever try to take advantage of anybody or go about it the wrong way, oh no Ainsley didn't operate like that... she was far too kindhearted. She would advance by doing the job, and doing it well.

She focused her attention back on the senior undersecretary eager for what else the "touch me not" man had to say.

He set his quill down, giving the Minister his full attention when he began speaking. If there was anything to be said, it was that the man had a way with words. Gavin didn't have trouble comprehending things. He could see how his time in the Minister's Office was to be spent and he'd already made the committment--he was sitting here wasn't he?

And he was through with his small prep talk. Good good. Gavin gave him a moment to settle back in his seat again before clearing his throat to draw all attention back to him.

"Right....what I'm understanding from some of you," the new ones, "is that you're not exactly clear on what you're to be doing." Because it was so hard to check the notice board. "Luckily I brought these files here with me." He looked first to the woman. "Media Liaison correct? We'll need you to get friendly with the press. Most of the details have been posted but the long and short, as you can imagine, we're trying to build and maintain a good image." He flipped another three files down in the folder before looking next to Mr. Neves. The one who'd been quick to admit he hadn't read the notice board either.

"Personal Assistant to the Minister, again, the task in it's entirety has already been posted. You'll be working with the secretaries as well as paying special attention the the Specialty Area's Food Court." Would he say more, or about what exactly? No. No. "Are we clear on this?" And the one's who hadn't spoken up...they were fully briefed, yes?

Onto the next matter? "What's our position with the Uniforms?"

Zach moved his attention from the Minister for Magic and then to the Senior Undersecretary before he cleared his throat and raised his hand.

"Personal opinion, sir, I will be great for the Ministry to have uniformity, that is to suit everyone's needs and for everybody to recognize in which department he or she is from." he said scratching his chin.

"On that note, I am to suggest each department have their own uniform because for example, the Law Enforcement can have their uniform that can be good for the office and the outdoors if the scene asks for it. While for others like the Mysteries department, who never needed to go outside can have their own." he said sighing as to say that he made his point and if the point will be taken into consideration.
