Environmental Office Area The Environmental work room has undergone a complete renovation during the Ministry break. It now resembles a bright, open and airy loft space with a orange accent wall at the back of the space. The separate desks are all gone, replaced by two long white tables with nothing but very short separators dividing the various divisions. At the front of the room is another white table containing a coffee pot, paper cups and small individual packets of creamer, sugar, stirrers and napkins. Beside this table is the entry from the reception area, which has been sealed off with a clear glass door to prevent those pesky creatures from making their way over. It is also neater than one might expect, thanks to the department head's new rule regarding the cleanliness of one's shoes (believe me, it was needed). Along one wall, you'll find (in order) the entrances to: the Department Head's office, the greenhouse and the storage room. But don't expect to just able to go waltzing into these rooms. If you're not an employee of the department, you must be accompanied by an employee in order to visit the greenhouse and storage room. OOC: Any Ministry employee is welcome to play here, with special consideration given those who are a part of Magical Law Enforcement, Accidents & Catastrophes or Mysteries. ;) |
HI. Anyone from DERP or wherever?!? *beams* It felt good to be back in the proper Environmental Office area. Not that the BASEMENT wasn't okay, but like, who wants to spend their working hours in a basement where using magic could potentially put the wizarding community at risk? She had a job to do. One that required use of charms and her wand, thank you very much. First things first though; coffee. The brunette made her way over to the familiar table, pouring herself a cup and adding one packet of sugar and a drop or two of creamer, stirring it carefully as she glanced around the work area tiredly. Where was everyone? Jasmine? Pem? Katelynn? Or some others who she couldn't recall their name? Surely she wasn't that early for work.... |
I ish here! ^__^ Quote:

Pem was fighting the urge to go back and find the stray cat she had fed part of her breakfast to this morning. She walked into the office area where she was still getting used to her new life as an 'adult'. "Good morning." Pem greeted the only other two she could see with a smile and a little wave. "So, tell me...is it always this deserted here?" Pem asked with a chuckle as she joined for coffee. It was pretty empty but maybe everyone was hiding somewhere and waiting to join in? That was a possibility. "Are there any hiding spots we need to check?" Pem was mediocre at best when it came to hide-and-seek games, but she'd be willing to hunt down the rest of their department if it was needed. She would definitely make sure she found that stray cat. |

And there was their new permitting officer! "Morning," she beamed at the woman who was younger than Jazz, even. "... I think it's just early. Most people don't dwindle in here for about another forty five minutes. We're just early, getting situated and whatnot..." she surveyed the refreshment table a moment, before selecting a fudge cookie. "Cookie?" she asked the two other woman, before frowning at Pem's question. Hiding places? "Why would people be hiding? I think if they'd be hiding, they would hide at home rather than bother showing up early in the morning only to hide so early on ..." |
SPOILER!!: Pem :3! Jasmine smiled to the new person. She never met her before. "Good morning." she replied giving her a polite nod. She chuckled at her statement. "Yeah it usually is. Usually Alex and I are in here. Don't worry though. We won't bite you we promise." she joked just a little bit. Any hiding spots to check? Interesting. "Ummm nah I do not think people would be hiding from us. I mean look at Alex and I we are gorgeous." she said nodding towards her. SPOILER!!: Alex :3 Jasmine smiled and said, "I will pass on the coffee then. I should have gotten some on the way here. Ah well on my lunch break I will get some." she shrugged and sat down. "Yeah Alex and I are usually the early ones. I just like have the silence to myself for a bit before I start working." It was just Jasmine's thing. Apparently Alex like the idea too. She handed her a cookie and said, "Oh why thank you.." she took it and ate it. Yummmyy! She snorted a little bit at Alex's confusion. "So ladies how have you been!? How was your summer?" she asked both of them to get the conversation. |
Ronnie entered the office area, yawning as she walked in. This place was nice, unlike the basement. Ronnie hadn't really fancied working in there much. Glancing at her watch, she noticed that she wasn't too late. Phew! She had sort of slept through her alarm this morning and had to rush to get ready and out the door. Looks like she had made it on time. Making her way through the place, she saw that there were three others already there. "Hello," she greeted them all with a warm smile as she made her way to the coffee table. Ahh, coffee! Maybe that'd help wake her up a bit more. Pouring herself some and adding a bit of sugar and creamer, she began to stir it. As she stirred, she realized she didn't quite know any of the three in the room. She was still a bit new here. "I'm Veronica, but you can all call me Ronnie," she introduced herself with another smile before taking a sip of her coffee. |
Quote:
Ah, so she was going to pass on the coffee? "Its really not THAT bad. At least have a little bit to get you through to lunch break?" She blinked at Jazz's question. "Good, but Jazz? Are you feeling alright? Do I need to drag you to see a healer? I think you mean ... winter, as we're not in Australia." Unfortunately. "Is it your mystery man from the welcome back reception that has you all confusing your seasons?" Alex winked; yes she saw them dancing, no denying it. Quote:
She glanced around at the three and wondered if there would be anymore or if this was their entire team? She was sure there were more unless they quit after the holidays. Annalise or Perwyn or she wasn't honestly sure of too many others? "I think ... we're short on botanists, so we're going to have to work together to keep an eye on the plants in the greenhouses to make sure they're been watered and fed, even though its not any of our primary responsibilities. We should probably set up daily rotations where, Mondays for instance, I'll be responsible to check in there." Last thing they needed was a greenhouse full of dead plants whilst the botanist staff was lacking. |
SPOILER!!: Ronnie :3 Jasmine was still talking to the girls when she noticed someone came in. She seemed tired since she was yawning. "Hello.." she waved politely. "Rough night for you?" she asked her. Oh? So her name was Veronica! Nice to know! She smiled and said, "Nice to meet you Ronnie.." she held out her hand for a shake. She called her by her nickname since she wanted to be. "I am Jasmine but you can call me Jazz for short." she shrugged. Now they both had nicknames to use. SPOILER!!: Alex :3 Jasmine giggled when Alex was teasing her back. Oh? She she only bit on the days that end in Y. Awww man Pem better be careful! She even giggled at her last statement. Alex can be funny, good to know. They shared the same sense of humor. Ohh.... Alex was tempting her. "You know I might have a little.." she said since her head was pounding and didn't plan to deal with it. She poured herself some and mixed some french vanilla in it. Some sugars and milk and it was all good to go. She sipped her coffee when Jazz asked her question. She blinked and realized how silly she must have sounded. "Well you guys I just came back from a cruise so I thought it was summer. Don't mind me...I am just in la la land right now.." she grinned and still sipped her coffee. "I mean look I didn't even have my coffee this morning." Jasmine winked back at Alex and said, "Yeah you know...he likes for me to think it is summer all year around. I sometimes get fooled." "So what is this meeting for anyways?" she asked. Did anyone have any answers? |
Quote:
Ronnie gave a nod to what she next said, and glanced around them, sipping her coffee. There really weren't many people here. Had many quit, or was everyone late? She looked at her watch. It still was a bit early, who knew. People could show up just a few minutes late...she hoped. Quote:
But then again, she did kind of yawn on the way in. That could be a sign. She gave a simple shrug to her. "A bit," she admitted with a small chuckle, taking another drink of her coffee, which seemed to actually be helping her wake up a bit which was nice. "Nice to meet you as well, Jazz," she said, smiling as they shook hands. Jazz was such a fun nickname! Heh. Ronnie loved nicknames. |
Quote:
Ah well that explained it. "A cruise? You sure you only in la la land because you think you're still on vacation? Or is it some thing to do with that mystery man you were dancing with?" Hmm, hmm? "So what's his name?" Meeting? Huh what? "We have a meeting? Don't we need to wait for our department head for that?" she glanced towards Katelynn's door worriedly. "You don't suppose she got locked inside there, do you?" Or worse! What if she was grooming a plant it ATE her. You hear about that stuff all the time... Quote:
|
SPOILER!!: Ronnie :3 <3 Jasmine chuckled, "Don't worry I have been there done that." she winked. "Here take an aspirin if you need it.." she said handing her two pills incase she needed it. "Also drink lots of water." A little advice incase she had a rough morning. Well at least names were put out there. "Which department do you work in?" she asked curiously. SPOILER!!: Alex :3 Jasmine blushed a little bit. It did have something to do with the mystery man. She chuckled and still blushed even redder. "Well his name was Jamie. He was from the Healers department. He was really sweet....He wasn't the best dancer though but he tried." She was fidgeting with her hands while still laughing at her comment about the dancing. "Oh right we do need to wait for our department head for that....I wonder where she could be?" Jasmine looked around the room for her. |

this is my lame attempt at catching up Coffee in hand now Pem was quiet again as she watched the other talk and interact with each other. Pem liked meeting new people but more than couple at a time tended to freak her out a bit. After all she was used to living on her own in the middle of the woods, she was used to talking to animals not humans on a daily basis. There was Alex, a face that was familiar. Pem smiled in her direction as she sipped on her coffee. Jazz, whom she just met but seemed lovely. And the other one? Ronnie? Pem was wondering already how she was going to keep everyone's names straight. When Alex mentioned being short on botanists Pem's ears perked up. "I'll do a rotation." She offered. Plants were her favorite, in fact she was pretty protective of her own plants. |
... and we should probably wrap up this TL ;) considering its like from Jan-IC Quote:
She shrugged though when Jasmine asked about the department head. "I'm telling you, some of those plants are deadly. I told you we were short on botanists." She actually had no idea if the department head even dealt with care of the plants, but it made sense why she wasn't there for their welcome back.... Quote:
Quote:
"Good, good. Now if the botanists return than we'll abandon the rotation... but for now... Pem's in. I'm in. What about you Jasmine? Ronnie? Want to take a day to look after the greenhouses?" Four of them. Five days. They each have a day and then Fridays they all share the responsibility. |
Ronnie gave Alex a nod at her question about looking after the greenhouses. Why not? She was more than happy to help out. And plus, the greenhouses were quite nice to be around, she liked them. "Sure thing!" she said, finishing her coffee and tossing her cup into the garbage. She was now fully awake, which was perfect. If she was gonna be looking after the greenhouses sometime this week, she'd have to make sure to get up on time so that she wasn't so tired as she was when she had walked in this morning. "Which day shall we each do it?" she then questioned, tilting her head slightly. |
your new!old coworker :) Come play with meee Emmalee set her bag down at her workstation and looked around slowly. 10 years since she'd been part of the Ministry. Things had certainly changed. Her eyes lingered over each corner and details as she scanned the work area, the small smile on her lips growing with each passing moment. Smoothing a wrinkle out of her skirt, Emmalee opened her bag and extracted the clothes for her work in the greenhouses, folding them neatly before tucking them in a drawer and resting her workboots on top of them. Snapping the clasp on her bag, Emmalee settled into her chair and crossed her ankles. Now, where were her coworkers?? |

"Forgive me if I'm making a fool of myself, have I met you before?" Pem asked softly. No use in beating around the bush and acting like a real fool and not knowing one way or the other, best to clear the air and hope she remembered the woman's name the next day. |

"Pem Sparrow, permitting officer." She introduced. And yes I know I'm the baby of the group. Pem thought silently. "Felt like this one needed some extra attention." Pem mentioned when she saw Emmalee briefly glance at the plant she was holding. Besides, she didn't have enough plants in her little area. |
Quote:
She dropped her hands, smiling. "It's soooo good to be back, though." Emmalee reached out and gently ran her fingers along one of the leaves. "Your dracaena is still lovely," she said gently. "I've had the most success with aethonan dung mixed with drizzle of steeped thistle." |
Quote:
Back to the plant Pem smiled. "Thank you. My dad helped me plant this one. He claims he can't keep a plant alive for the life of him so he lets me do all of the caretaking." Not that she minded a bit. "I can't say I've tried such a mix on mine yet." Nope, Pem kept her planting pretty simple and easy. |
Quote:
"You know..." she said slowly, eyes squinting in thought. "I'll be those supplies are just in the storage closet or out in the greenhouse. We could try it..." she paused. "But only if you wanted to, of course. Do you think Mr. Howell would mind? It's not an assignment, but it would be easy to consider it an experiment in restorative fertilizer..." |
Quote:
Emmalee's idea sparked Pem's interest. Her eyes lit up and another smile appeared on her face. "I'm sure he won't mind." Pem said shaking her head. "Besides, think of it as a self taught learning moment or something." Pem mused. "You're showing me something new that could potentially become useful in the future." She added on, unsure if her explanation was clear enough. Regardless, Pem was down for the idea. |
Quote:
"I don't want to keep you from anything else, so why don't I let you get settled in and then I'll meet you in the storage room." She reached into her purse and grabbed her wand and wrist holster. Securing her wand 'round her arm, she smiled at the younger woman and started to walk away. She paused, internally chastising herself for her assumption. She turned back to face Pem. "Sorry. I get a little excited. Does that work for you? Or would you rather some other time?" |
