And now back to more pressing issues. Kirby can wait, but his employee simply can't go unheard. Oh? Slipping? "I see...but would you like to discuss your issues with me? Tomorrow at my office?" He wanted to interact with this young man, really. He looked promising, and he, as his boss would like to help out in any way he can. That was his job. Yep.
Paxton grinned and gave the young man a gentle pat on the arm. "I've asked the higher ups if we can keep you employed," so...basically he owes it to him? "Because I will be needing each and everyone of you who has experience." Paxton nodded and kept his hands in his pockets again. "The issue may not be a big one in the broom industry, but I'd like to tackle it while it's still small. I will be needing you lot, for that." And maybe a trip to one of the Quidditch Games? Totes official business, ahem. Broom experts, you see?
He looked at him and gave a slight not, “Of course sir.” Vincent figured he would want to talk anyways should his attendance start to slip again… Maybe if he knew ahead of time of everything he was trying to do it would seem a little more understandable. He glanced at his clock, it was getting closer to practice but maybe he should skip practice. This was just a party but it was a ministry funded event… jumping up and leaving probably was not the best idea at the moment.
Talk to those higher up? That actually did worry Vince, did they actually think of firing him? Of course he couldn’t be shocked but he’d never heard anyone being fired from the ministry unless they’d done something horrible… He looked at him and nodded weakly, “Of course, I’ll be here whenever I’m needed to help.” He did mean it too… kinda, unless his band was going on an actual tour… but maybe he could still just apperate between the two.

"Come on venturing out can be fun. Have you check the croquet game over there?" she said pointing. "It sounds like fun.." she said looking at it. "You can still be your quiet self.." she added.
Vincent looked at her, “Hey, both sound better than my dull job.” He nodded, “All I do is come up with new charms for brooms and makes sure all of them are safe.” He sighed slightly. He did like his job really… But flying wasn’t his strong suit so he really didn’t understand why he’d been assigned there, and he hated Quidditch for the most part… It was rather dull to him. Vince looked at her, chuckling as she said he didn’t seem all that quiet, “Unless you’re around me during one of my concerts I’m not very loud…” Focus on what needs to be done and be finished with it. With a lot of things anyways… “You hate this kind of party? You seem to fit in quite well.” Vince smiled. He glanced over at the game and shook his head, “I haven’t really looked at anything, just got here myself not too long ago.”

Her brown eyes looked around as she suggested people were still dressed up. Yes she could agree, she had dressed up as well, but she wanted to look good. As a manager she felt she needed to present herself professionally. "You are right, it seems everyone decided to wear what they chose was appropriate for the evening." Which was fully fine, but she always enjoyed a reason to dress up. "It was black tie last year, so yes no formal wear tonight." Not that she'd be surprised if a few would come dressed that way.
Oh she chuckled with Amethyst comment about the stories. "Well my oldest son is a fourth year there, so yes I hear many stories about the things that go on there even when I'd rather not know." Some of the things she had hears about that school was just not what she needed nor wanted to hear.
Her brown eyes hit the faces yet again, "He'll be here, though I haven't seen him yet, but all the department heads make an appearance at orientation to introduce themselves to their new employees." It was expected she was under the impression at least. "Oh were you at home for awhile?" Was she a mother and possibly a stay at home mom? Victoria could certainly relate to that. She had been one while married the first time.
The longer she spoke to the older woman, the more Amethyst had found herself relaxing. There wasn’t anything to be nervous about. Everyone was there to get to know each other, and she’d already managed to meet a couple of people. It was an accomplishment and she knew that would make it that much simpler later on once she was actually at work. Talking to people had never been a problem for her anyhow, no matter the opinion some had of those who had done her previous job. She was out of the lab now, and she was back to work. “That’s always nice. Being able to wear what you feel comfortable wearing, that is. Even if it means looking a bit out of place amongst everyone,” she commented, glancing around at the few who had apparently chosen to wear jeans or other more casual items of clothing. “Black tie can be fun as well, however. I can’t say I’ve gone to many functions requiring that much formality, yet I can imagine it would have been.” She hadn’t seen anyone choose that for this event yet. Being near the entrance did have its perks.
Her attention had returned to Victoria as she heard the second laugh. She hadn’t expected her comment to have been that amusing, but then she also hadn’t known if her assumption there were stories coming from Hogwarts was true either. “Oh, I can imagine that would make sense. There are some things a mother would rather just not know.” With a teenage boy, especially. She remembered when her brother had been that age, anyhow. It had been interesting.
Apparently either her new boss hadn’t arrived yet or was choosing not to attend, as well. That was what she’d gotten from Victoria’s next answer, combined with what she’d already learned about Mr. Isaacs. “Do they? That’s nice of them,” she murmured, back to glancing around even though she wouldn’t have recognized anyone on sight in the first place. Being introduced now would save time once work actually began, yet she knew she could wait if necessary as well. “Well, I was living with my grandparents,” she corrected, as another question had been directed toward her that returned her attention to her companion. “I moved here, to Scotland actually, a few years back. Before I had my daughter. She’s two now, and visiting with her father while I’m here.” It was a complicated situation. One she wasn’t about to get into right now unless it was asked of her.

Certainly not professionally, but now she was stepping back into that and company was definitely welcome. Especially when it was from someone who would be just as new to the Ministry as herself. “When you’re not alone, you don’t feel quite as lost anyhow,” she pointed out with a smile. At the very least, it meant you were lost with someone to talk to. If the British Ministry was anything like the American one, it could be very easy to get a bit turned around if one wasn’t careful. Having someone else to find her way with would be nice.
“Oh,” she’d said again, as the question of where Lara was working was answered. “Congratulations.” Victoria had spoken of how she’d be working under Gavin, but Lara would be even closer to the action. So to speak, anyhow. “I’m to be the new administration supervisor. Overseeing the secretaries and messages and such. I guess the office in general, to be specific,” she continued, as the question had been turned to her. It still seemed like her new possible friend had the more exciting job, yet it still meant possibilities of them seeing each other.
Administration supervisor. That sounded really important and was certainly lighter to say than Lara's new position. And since she was familiar with the rankings she could fathom an idea on what did Amythest study or work before. Which brought a question to her. "Where did you use to work before? If you do not mind me asking." Would she? She didn't look like someone who would but it did not hurt to be polite. At least until they got to get to know each other more.
Casting a look around her, Lara noticed that she's been at the entrance for quite a while now. Well, longer than people were intended to spend time here at least. "Did you happen to see Mister Isaacs going in?" She asked. She intended to catch the man and start her job as his PA RIGHT AWAY. She'd been unemployed for a while that she looked forwards to it. She did not know though if the undersecretary was as well.

She hadn’t known how the new information would sound to Lara. As it was, it was still strange to Amethyst, saying what her new position was. Considering it was so different from what she was used to, but she figured it had likely been her liaison work that had influenced them here. She couldn’t think of any other reason, as it appeared obvious that the Ministry had no difficulty in hiring women in any position at all. She hadn’t exactly expected the question, either way, but then it made sense. There would obviously be curiosity. “Of course I don’t mind,” she assured her. “I worked for the American Ministry, the department of Magical Law Enforcement. Evidence retrieval, and I also was the department liaison to the Minister. I haven’t worked for the past two years however.” It was a complicated situation, honestly, even more than what she’d actually stated.
The glance around at the people filtering in through the entrance hadn’t surprised her one bit. She had done that often enough by now that it was almost understandable. They’d been standing here talking for a while, after all, with the party going on elsewhere. “I haven’t. I can’t say I would have known what he looked like had I seen him, but I’ve been told he hasn’t been seen,” she answered. By Victoria, and she hadn’t seen any reason not to trust the older woman when she’d said she hadn’t seen their boss. It really would have been nice to meet him before their first official day of work, yet she wouldn’t have blamed him for declining to come either. There was a lot going on.

"I've never been, actually." She nodded if Bart was there Cinna was probably there too. They were kind of like that.
Mercedes laughed a bit. "We'll see if my opinion changes." Though she doubted it would. She seemed laid back and all. Just do your work and everything would be fine. "This is my first job. I'm completely nervous." Should she admit her nerves to her manager like that? Probably not.
Coffee cart? Good. "Something to wake me up in the morning." Exactly how early did she have to come in again? She was taking a few classes at the uni. So she maybe up half the night working on class work. So coffee Yes that was a good thing. The game room too that sounded cool. Now she wanted to ask Chris if they could get a pool table. Glow in the dark pool, anyone?
She had never been? Well that was interesting. If her mother grew up there, why hadn't she been there? Trying to remember exactly which friend's family member lived in Florida and why her son was so eager to go on a family vacation there, Victoria got lost in thoughts for a moment. "Well if ever the chance you should. They have some very nice places to see." That Disney one was quite fun if she recalled.
Mercedes seemed like a very enthusiastic, nice girl, but her words made Victoria give an inner cringe. First job, so young. Why was the ministry always hiring these right out of school children. She never understood that. Why did the ministry bringing on such inexperienced people? Oh well, that's why she was manager, right? To train them into successful employees and make sure they don't screw up. She had faith in Mercedes, Cameron wouldn't have had her get a job at the ministry let alone a department he worked with closely if she was not going to do well. Giving her the same smile without a change she nodded, "Well I'll help you get settled into the position. We will be working very closely together." This might actually be good. "PR was the position I started in, so it's a great place to start and get your experience in the department." Though she was much older, but that didn't matter right now.
"Yes it comes in very handy right outside our office." She never really needed it to wake up until the girls were born, then she found herself needing it more then just for the taste and the small break with Mariel.

"Yes it is. I think it makes people more willing to socialize and get to know one another." She was happy in the dress she picked out, but her position as a manager made her feel she needed to present herself a little more. Though wasn't that a new department head in jeans? Hmm that was sort of interesting to the blonde. Though some decision that were made never seemed to surprise her. Turning her brown eyes back to Amethyst, "They are fun. Getting all dressed up and your hair done. You feel like a celebrity for the evening. I've been to a few Quidditch functions that need to be very formal, so I have probably one too many dresses in my closest I'll never wear again." She should maybe donate them now that she thought about it.
Things a mother would rather not see as well, but that was a story she would not be getting into with a stranger. No, Mariel was told these horrific stories, but no one else needed to know them. "Yes, it is better I'm left in the dark on somethings, but others I try to stay up on. His father isn't very active in his life, so I feel the need to be both many times." Jon was off being teenage boy himself with his wife, she forced her eyes not to roll at the thoughts of her ex-husband.
It was nice of them, but she figured it was part of their job as well, so it was just second nature to expect them here. "Yes it is. They work hard to put these orientations together so they should come and enjoy themselves too." At least that's how she felt about it. She listened to Amethyst story and gave a smile, "Two is a fun age isn't it? I have twin girls that are two and a half." She smiled wider thinking about Alana and Elisa. She couldn't help but understand the visiting with the father thing, "It's such a hard thing, isn't it? The splitting time between you and her farther? The girls father is very sweet and we still have a very good relationship even though things didn't work out, but it's still so hard to have them not at home for a few days." As grateful as she was for Charely and him being such an amazing dad to their daughters, she still hated evening she was all alone in the house.
This was nice, what department did this guy work in? Benji was sure that he had to have been put in Games and Sports, but maybe not? Did he say what Department he was? Maybe he was..
"My father convinced me it was a bad idea, he said something along the lines of 'Once you're old you won't be good at much else' He also mentioned cutting me off so i ended up taking a job at a Quidditch Magazine in California for a few years.." Sure it was something he wished he'd have done now, but he loved his life. "Ahh so you started in America? What did you think of it, like i said i was there for a few years." How did living there compare to good old England, Benji loved them both but in different ways.
"What department are you in?" He wasn't sure if he was told. Enzo knew that he was listening to this Benji guy but he just couldn't remember of they had talked about departments and what not. "I'm in Magical Transportation because they didn't have any opening spots in Games and Sports so they put me here in a pointless department." He knew he wouldn't like it at all and he already didn't really care for his boss.
Enzo nodded and couldn't believe what this mans father had told him. "I myself find that as an insult because I do know what I want to do with myself after Quidditch." Now working in the Ministry wasn't what he wanted to do but he did want to become a manager of one of the teams. "Living in America is like living in a whole other world. Their customs are very different than here in England. It was nice but I do prefer to live in England." Nothing against America but England was his true home.

Jasmine smiled and heard what he did and seemed similar to hers. "Well ours jobs seem similar. I mean I need to test and come up with new charms for the charms committee. Shall be interesting with my new partner.." she shrugged. "But I would love to fly a broom someday, I haven't been able to in years.." Her mother would abandon her from flying. She would prefer Jasmine to go on horseback and be the typical rich girl. It just wasn't her. Wait he was in concerts? She quirked an eyebrow. "You are a musician?" she asked. "What are you doing here working in the ministry?" she asked. She didn't wanna sound rude. "Surely you can make a career of doing concerts?" Was she right?
She smiled, "Well you see I had a lot of practice with this sort of thing. My mother is sort of the rich women in my neighborhood. She made me be the perfect daughter and learn manners and all that rich girls should learn." Don't get her wrong. She wasn't the typical rich girl everyone thought people should be. "Well I mean if you want to try a game we could.." she offered.

He looked at her, “Well, maybe sometime we could go out together and fly.” Vincent smiled weakly. It wasn’t like he never had a broom on hand with his job anyways so… yeah, they could do that if she’d like to. The twenty three year old nodded to her question, “I am but we aren’t exactly famous yet, and the ministry is also a good place to be should that fall through…” He nodded. There was also the fact that his music reminded him a little bit too much of his first inspiration… but he’d just met this girl, he wasn’t going to get on about his cheating ex-fiancé quite yet. He smiled weakly, “I mean, I get enough money for myself with my singing, but I also have a house to restore.” Again, that had to do with his ex… She’d ended up burning the last one down before she left.
“Must have been nice, I grew up just helping Mom and Dad around the bakery.” He smiled, “For the most part my only socialization was at Durmstrang or my old friends from childhood...” And of those five friends he had one left. Vince looked at the game and gave a slight nod, “Sure, we can go play a few games.” He smiled weakly at him.
She had never been? Well that was interesting. If her mother grew up there, why hadn't she been there? Again Mercedes didn't talk much about her parents since their accident. But she hoped that they would be proud of her. She was sure they would be. She really didn't need to not think about it much anymore. The blonde nodded. "Yeah, I bet it would make a nice little summer vacation." That's what her and Chris should do over the summer. Flordia.
She was very eager to get started. Yes, she knew that working and trying to finish up uni was going to be hard. Very hard. But she was determined to do her absolute best at both. "Good. I'm ready get in and get going straight to work." She gave Vic a smile.
Oh right next to their office that was even better. Of course she would have plenty of coffee to help her get threw the day. It wasn't like she's be needing it all day. That was just too much.
