She nodded in acknowledgement and put out her hand as she had fully introduced herself, plus she got her new last name right thank Merlin.
She looked down at his shoes just to make sure she didn't really hurt anything. "Well I'm glad no harm was done, but I am terribly sorry. I need to stay focused on my surroundings a bit more it seems." Though she had just turned, but she could have looked first.
"I would recommend a gift basket with plenty of goodies as well as maybe some gift cards. They have done an excellent job as always." Last year was still her favorite, but this wasn't so bad either.

"No they wouldn't have lied to you. That is one thing I don't think the ministry would do." She'd hope not at least. "That is my department, well not mine, it's Mariel's, but I am the second in command when it comes to the quidditch side and I would know if we had places to fill. Like I said I'll keep an eye out for any." Though she did hope he'd give his new department a chance as well. He'd might like it if he was positive going in. "Good luck you and it was certainly a pleasure." She was always happy to meet quidditch people.
Simon approached more normally as Jory motioned for him to join the party. It wasn't like he could deny seeing the attention of the YATI directed his way and he wasn't about to be totally antisocial. The mention of Minister's office did offer some relief in providing identity to the other man in the equation. So not one of Jorge's colleagues but one of theirs it appeared. Gavin's department to be specific, one floor above them. All information that provided to be useful specifically in security-wise.
"Good day, Gentlemen," he greeted with a polite nod as he made his presence known instead of remaining sneaky about it. "Simon Bennett, MLE," he introduced to the unfamiliar man, offering a friendly hand. No sense in appearing to just be interrupting. No, he was being welcoming and acknowledging a co-worker...like noticing Victoria from Games and Sports over the man's shoulder. Another returning face.

"No, this is my third year.'' Jory had had two great years of training. Much excitement happened at the Ministry and he was always meeting interesting people. Hearing all the news before it actually became news and stuff like that must be cool.
Ezra laughed softly and replied, "No, fortunately not. At least not yet. I've only been here for a year because I took a couple years off to travel between University and work." Yes, yes. He travelled to. Wasn't he just marvelous? "But on the very first day last year I fell right through a chair in that makeshift conference room they'd scrounged up in an abandoned building." He chucked again, but shortly this time because let alone the embarrassment, that room had been GROSS. Anywho. Moving on. Stuttering? "Oh no, no stuttering." Couldn't Jory HEEEAR how well he was speaking? Mumbling was a no-no. As was stuttering. And fidgeting. None of that was allowed, nuh-uh.
Ezra smiled and nodded at the man. Two years, very nice. He'd surely become a good Auror one day, and one with very nice hair to boot. Yes, the hair. He still noticed it. "Ah, yes. The Minister's Office is quite a happening place." What with everyone being IMPORTANT and all.
Aha, another person! Good, good. Ezra gave Simon a firm handshake and a winning smile. "Ezra Bellamy, Media Liason in the Minister's Office. It's a pleasure to meet you." He looked at the two men in front of him and then down at his reflection in the face of his watch. STILL GOOD. Okay, he could keep talking now. "Law Enforcement, eh? How's that going?"

Someone was definitely born on a cloudy…maybe stormy day. The kid, whom Paxton realized was a Pro-Quidditch player was definitely being…a party pooper. Shame. Stuff like outdoor parties should be appreciated, because hello outdoors! But then, the young man just might be having a bad day. One could hope.
“Enzo. Noted.” What didn’t made sense to the 37-year old was the fact that he wrote the name ‘Lorenzo’ on his application. He should have made a note somewhere that he despises his own name. Psh. Weird child.
He’d have to catch up on the new Broom Games Liaison Officer in a while, because there are other employees that he still needs to meet, like…the blushing woman he just saved from embarrassment. "I'll see you in a while."
Paxton will never get why women had to wear those ridiculous shoes in garden parties, though it sure looks good on them! “No need to apologize, miss.” The 37 year old grinned at the woman as he casually checked on her feet. Those things really looked painful. He too chuckled at her remark, and shook his head. “Today, we’re going to have fun. No face-planting on cakes.” It’ll be hilarious though! Haha!
Oh so that’s why she looked familiar. She does belong to his Department. He failed to remember what particular position though. Paxton returned the handshake with a gentle one as he introduced himself. “Good to finally meet you in person, Ms. Kyleigh Tanner. I’m Robert Paxton, your new Department Head.” Hi, hello. “Oh and you’re welcome.” He said as he let go of her hand. “Can you…walk though?” Merlin’s beard. Carrying a fellow employee inside the venue wasn’t part of his job description.
While waiting for more employees to arrive, Paxton saw another familiar face. Again, the man’s particular position in his Department escaped him. He really should review those bios again. As soon as he met the man’s eyes, Paxton gave him a polite nod of acknowledgement and a grin.
Wait, is he in a hurry too?
Garden Party. Sky wasn't so fond of these things. They reminded her of the snobs that vacationed in the Hamptons, the ones that looked down on anyone who happened to be the least bit different from them. Blech. But, seeing the clothing of some of the people entering the garden, well, they were the complete opposite of that. Especially the guy with the bike, who got a wave and a "Nice bike!" from her. She would've stopped and talked to him a little more, but one of the people who were surrounding him seemed a little TOO excitable for a grown woman. So yeah, just keeping her feet moving on the path.

Keeping her feet moving on the path until someone stopped right in front of her, that is. And now he was talking. Okay, that's fiiiiiiinnne. Just keep talking. Meanwhile, Sky would just scoot around here and pass. But dude got a dirty look and a very sarcastic "Excuse me," before she crossed over into the garden proper. Of course, she didn't really realize that the rude dude was the Minister. According to both the papers and her aunt, he hadn't been seen in public for weeks. So, she wasn't really expecting to see him here. Then there was the fact that she'd used her aunt's shoe silencing spell. All she knew was that guy was just being rude.

Releasing a slow whistle Stephen made his way to the entrance of the garden party. "Pretty impressive" he thought to himself,though this wasn't really the kind of party he would have had imagined himself going to as his last for his holiday vacation.
Still he wasn't complaining after all his break from work had been pretty intense,he'd gone out with his mates and had a blast with some pretty interesting ladies. Maybe a an atmosphere like this was best for getting his head back in the game and ready for work.
Taking a look around the garden, he noted that almost everyone from the different ministries appeared to be present.
"Well this should be fun" He said before putting on his friendliest smile,then making his way fully inside the garden. Honestly he really liked meeting people.
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when

"Yes I am, sir and I am really looking forward to working there. It sounds wonderful," Tabitha said to the Minister as she shook his hand and then let go. Tabitha waved a hand about the air and said, "The garden looks amazing and this the best party/work orientation I've attended."

She was talking to her boss right now he had the ability to fire her and all she could think was he had a pretty face and well…his jacket was nice. Stop eying your boss she scolded herself inwardly and knew that she was probably blushing somewhat – but she had just basically rambled on to her boss like a lunatic.
Paxton gave out a hearty laugh as he imagined her face-planting on food. It reminded him of the time where one Andrew Walton face-planted on his porridge because he accidentally slipped some strong sleeping draught in his drink, which was actually meant for William Williamson. That was such a classic prank! It went wrong, making it more funny. "I used to be the mischievous kind back in Hogwarts. I used to make my friends face-plant on their food during breakfast." Hehehehe. Fun times!
Paxton tilted his head in amusement as he watched her reaction. He was kind of...expecting it, really. "The pleasure is all mine, Miss Tanner." Yes, he could feel the awkwardness of the moment, but he instantly brushed it off because it would just be an unnecessary barrier to get to know his colleague. Then there goes her pointless shoes, again. Paxton's brain took a full 360 with what she said. Kyleigh must have spent hours picking her outfit for the day, and now that her footwear proved to be inconvenient, she was more than ready to toss it in the water! "...or maybe we could charm it into a more...comfortable pair of shoes?" Was she...good in transfiguring stuff? Hopefully.
The new DH also got confused with the excessive smiling. Merlin, he's got a handful of employees right there. One had the mood of a stormy day, and this one reminded him of spring time. Oh and of course, there's Patrick and Vincent who reminded him of summer. Late night summer concerts, that is. "We should go inside now, I believe? Food awaits." And more people to meet? Speaking of which...

There goes the Minister in the flesh. Excusing himself from Kyleigh, Paxton confidently walked up to his boss. It was just right to introduce himself on the first non-official working day of the Ministry. "Minister Kettleburn? Good day." Paxton held out his hand with a grin on his face. "I'm Robert Paxton, your new Department Head for Magical Transportation." There. Now he knows who the biker guy is. Hopefully he's into those things too...

The honest truth about Enzo was he was horrible at first impressions and he normally was never this grumpy but then again he was having a bad day and he might just have to apologize to this woman about it. "I must apologize for my grumpiness, ma'am." should he add that he isn't having the best day? No because he didn't want to bother the woman with his woes. When the woman let go of his hand he put both of them in his pockets. "I'm in Magical Transportation. What department are you in?" Enzo nodded. "I don't know anyone here either."

Edward walked through the archway, trying to look out for Krel. Spotting the wonderful woman as she spoke to another person, he walked over and stood beside her in her line of sight. He smiled at her, waiting for a break in the conversation to see if she needed 'rescuing'.
“International Magical Cooperation,” she replied, waving off his apology with a roll of her hand. Nobody needed to explain their emotions to her, especially at work function. “Truth be told, I often find functions such as these superfluous, but in their way, they do have their uses. After all, I probably wouldn’t have met you.” Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Edward walk in and stop nearby. Edward would be nay impossible for her to miss, just his presence in the room made things better. She smiled and gave him a wave, letting him know everything was alright. It also gave him the option of staying or moving on should he choose to do so.

Another male passed by and then stopped to look around. Krel glanced at him just in time to see him lick something off his tie. Alas! He had missed a spot. There was something near his collar. Krel coughed, discreetly and then made a motion towards his collar.
Before she could say something to the male however, the Minister of Magic walked in. He appeared to be the kind of man who filled up a room, at least with his ego, if not his presence. Krel hadn’t the pleasure of meeting the man personally, yet, and she tried to reserve her opinion of him until she did so. She watched him walk around and mingle with a few people before turning her attention back to the gentleman (Enzo) in front of her.
"Hello, Vincent. Robert Paxton, and I believe I'm your new chief." Some introduction right there, because the kid looks like he's in a hurry. Vince paused slightly. What was the title for his job again? He worked with the brooms and coming up with new charms... He'd had a small hand in the flying carpet... He sighed, "I think the proper name for it is Brooms Division Charms Developer... Or something like that." He shrugged, "But I work with making new charms and all of that." Yeah, he was probably making a great first impression now of a slacker... He wasn't one really, he just... was slightly slower than others and much less of his attention had gone to this job than his other, "But I'm sure it's a pleasure to meet you, sir."
Enzo let out a light chuckle. "I guess throwing parties are more important than getting jobs done around here." No wonder why nothing seemed to get done or got done way too late. "Nice to meet you, Benji." That was an interesting name but then again so was his in a way. Enzo grinned, it was about time that someone noticed him and a smart man as well. "Yes. I played for the as a keeper for the Fitchburg Finches and beater for the Puddlemere United. I think I've seen you before. " Enzo gave the man a nod. Now looked at the Benji guy more he seemed a bit familar as well. "The names Enzo Abernathy."
"Or so it would seem.." he said and shrugged.. It seemed to be a bit true, you know except for his own department. He knew that Games and Sports were all dedicated and hard workers. "You too, Enzo." He seemed like a good upstanding guy, unlike some of the people who worked for the ministry, like those two blondes from the Specialty Area, or the loon from Creatures..
"Right! Abernathy.. i'm pretty sure Interviewed you once or twice, when you were at Puddlemore. Played Beater myself but only in University." Which was Benji's biggest regret now, not going pro before he was too old. Because he was sure that 28 was too old to go pro. But he also thought if he hadn't maybe he wouldn't have met Carrie, so maybe it wasn't a regret.
Patrick waved back at the dude and was starting over when he noticed the chick motion toward his collar. Crud. With a swiping motion he smeared the salsa and sighed. He needed a bib. And this was all left over from lunch. Blah.
Making his way over he nodded at The Minister as he went. He hadn't actually spoken to him, but he seemed pretty cool. Mhm.
Reaching the dude who had waved (Paxton) he extended his hand. "'Ello. Patrick McAllister. I'm with Transpo." That was how people greeted strangers, no? Cool. And the lady person (Krell) got a wink. Like... a thank you wink. Not to be confused with other winks he gave. Not that he gave too many...Heh.

Tyler could actually hear Charlotte as she walked up to him, so he didn't have to turn to know when she was right next to him. He wasn't sure he would call it fancy, but it was indeed a lot of things, and he was still trying to figure out if he liked the lots of things that this ministry was.
"It does have a feminine touch." Did that answer her question? He finally looked at her and away from the flowers that surrounded him.

"Yeah, I see!" Penelope replied with a laugh. She hadn't thought to ask where Ember worked the last time they had met, so this was a cool surprise. "And I do. My first day today." For the most part, at least. Since this party thing wasn't really work, but it was her first day at an actual Ministry thing.
"What department d'you work in?" Seemed unlikely Ember would be in MLE too but...you never know? And Penelope was curious either way.
Oh, whoops, had she cut him off? That was...probably rude. Not quite the impression Penelope wanted to give on her first day, even if he wasn't someone she'd be working with often.
"Sorry," she turned back to him with another quick smile. "I'm Penelope." Introductions were appropriate, right?

If only she were better at household charms, she might have offered to help with the mess. As it was, she would probably just make the stain grow until it covered his entire shirt. And then he winked at her. She gave him a small wave in response and then turned back to Enzo, who was otherwise engaged with another gentleman. She nodded to Enzo and then disengaged herself from the conversation.

What...in the world? No, this dude can't be in his division. Maybe he overlooked this one? Maybe he belonged in the Creatures Department? Nonetheless, Paxton held out his hand and returned the handshake.
Paxton made a mental note not to visit his office cubicle. Merlin knows what he'll find in there given the man's...appearance right now. "Transportation, I see." Nodnod. Jory couldn't help laughing. The thought of Ezra falling through a chair was too funny. He hoped Ezra wouldn't be offended. Well, stuff like that happening was to be expected. It had been crazy working in those terrible abandoned and other places. Travelling was cool though. "Where did you go?'' Was he being too nosy? All Ezra had to do was tell him was he was getting too personal.
"Hey, Simon,'' Jory responded as the Auror joined them. He was still in awe of the man but not as star struck as he had been when he was a newbie a couple of years ago now that the two were friends. "Good holidays?''
"Charmed, I'm sure." He smiled at her, for once not adding on his smart alec side show with his typical 'Though it's more your pleasure'. Hey, the girl should feel lucky to talk to him. He was the greatest after all. He had his job here, and was starting to hit the road as the lead singer in his band... She should really be in awe of such an amazing guy. Vincent shook his head to her question though, "I've been here three years now... Just don't venture around much." Not that he had time to anyways, again, he was important. He didn't have time to try to be buddy buddy with people... Normally anyways, Jasmine just got lucky.
Jasmine smiled and liked his proper manners showing. "Where are you from out of curiosity. I am liking your manners." she grinned. She never met a guy like him before. Oh? He had been here three years now? That is impressive! Jasmine was sort of newish. "Well I was working in the Environmental Branch for a while but then I wanted to change departments. So I guess I may have been here for about as long as you have." She was just happy to start new. "Ah I think you should venture around a lot. You can meet new people like me for instance." she pointed to herself and chuckled.

And hugs were happening now, alright. Penelope hugged her back and grinned. "Cookies sound awesome," she said. Cookies on her first day were DEFINITELY okay with her. This job was just getting better and better all the time.
Ohh, creatures! That had been Atticus' department like....forever ago, hadn't it? Penelope didn't exactly remember. But it was probably a cool department as far as she knew. "Cool! Are pests fun to take care of?" Or get rid of or whatever they did with them. "I'm on level two. YATI." And she tried not to show it TOO much, but she was EXTREMELY excited about it. She'd been working and hoping for this for awhile and it was finally, ACTUALLY happening. For real. It was great.
But then Ember stopped and was looking towards something...? Or someone apparently, once Penelope had followed her line of sight. That was the Minister, wasn't it? Which was...pretty cool, actually. And Ember seemed strangely quiet and stuff all of a sudden, which was amusing. "Maybe you should go say hi to him," Penelope suggested, smirking a little.

He looked at the two men in front of him and then down at his reflection in the face of his watch. STILL GOOD. Okay, he could keep talking now. "Law Enforcement, eh? How's that going?"
More and more fellow ministry workers arrived and then the Minister himself. Simon saw the behavior of those around the man change just before noticing him himself. Probably getting about time to go further, he supposed, couldn't spend all the time outside the event. Not that he wasn't used to it doing what he did.
It seemed Jory's companion was a pleasant man who returned the handshake in kind. "Nice to meet you as well," Simon returned politely once introductions were made. "Yes," he confirmed, "Auror first and formost but I also spend time in security as well as serve as a department liaison." Geez, was it just him or did his title and job description get longer each year? As for how they were doing, the former Gryffindor chose to answer diplomatically. "It has its moments."
Simon nodded in affirmation as he turned his attention towards Jory and his question. "Uh huh, it was one of my better breaks," he admitted, having had his fair share in his 28 years. "And yours?" he questioned, returning the favor as he allowed his gaze to flitter around slightly.

"You ran off so quickly. Before I got a chance to ask you... can I take you to dinner sometime? Or... be an escort at this Ministry event." GRIN!

It hadn’t really been much more than a rhetorical question, yet Amethyst still was rather surprised by the answer. It would be interesting to work in that kind of environment again, honestly. That was one thing she couldn’t deny was similar to her previous job. “It seems like I am,” she agreed with a soft laugh. She wasn’t about to deny Victoria that truth, nor the fact she rather looked forward to it. Not to mention what else she might get to experience if she managed to stay for longer than unfortunately had happened in America. “There still is a bit of dressing up here, however,” she commented, as the discussion of what she’d missed over the last few years continued. “At least, some of us seem to have dressed up, yet I can’t disagree that none of us are particularly in formalwear.” The latter half of the statement was rather more intriguing. “Is he? That must lead to amusing stories, I’d think. Being a professor and around the students for months at a time,” she added. Not that she particularly was familiar with what went on at Hogwarts. She read the paper, anyhow.
At least she hadn’t been mistaken as to her superior. She felt relief at that, considering she’d been more concerned with the part in the letter regarding her position than the sender. “Has he made an appearance here today?,” she queried, curious again. Yet she’d smiled at the comment as well. “I’m sure he appreciates your friendship either way.” There needed to be all types in situations like the Ministry, she imagined. She’d certainly met people like she imagined Victoria was talking about before. Luckily, she could work with them as well. “I have to admit I’m relieved to hear that,” she concluded, “It’s difficult enough finding my way back into the workforce without having to work for unpleasant people.” That might lead to questions, but she figured it would end up known eventually anyhow. She couldn’t leave Jemma with Gran all the time, and she knew Parker had work as well.

Ironically enough, as a commotion had broken out nearby, she had glanced over to notice that it seemed the Minister had arrived. Victoria had spoken to him, anyhow, as well as several others. As the crowd had thinned again, however, she had stepped forward. She may as well introduce herself, even if she wouldn’t be working directly with him. “Good day, Minister,” she said, stepping forward slightly and feeling rather tiny at the moment, extending her hand politely. Perhaps there was a point to wearing heels, but she’d personally never bothered with them.
“It’s lovely to meet you,” she added, almost as an afterthought. “Amethyst McCrae.” There, she’d remembered to actually introduce herself, although the thought of establishing her position had slipped her mind amidst everything else.
