Entrance Archway
|
Well it seemed he was early to this little shindig as not many persons had even arrived yet. That was fine..he didn't like large crowds of people anyway. With his hands buried in his pockets Tyler strolled confidently into the garden with a look of mild interest on his face. Not.Quite.What.He.Expected. |
Vroooom! With one final revving of his muscle bike’s engine, Paxton switched off his mode of transportation with a key, and joined the rest of the employees at the Entrance Archway. The thing is, there was just one of them and he too looked…lost? Mid-way, the man fished another strip of gum from his pocket and plopped it inside his mouth. Well, he can’t be possibly lost now. The direction to the place was quite clear, and that it was impossible to miss. He’s still a professional traveller anyway, so directions are easy. Assuming that he was extra early to the event, Paxton walked back to his bike, sat on it, and coolly waited for the rest to arrive. He didn’t want to look like the eager beaver there, but at least he isn’t late. Adjusting his shades and crossing his arms, he’d decided to people watch for the time being. There must be at least one person who’d make a fool of himself on the first day…hmm. |
Tabitha fiddled with her necklace as she reached the archway. She was a little bit nervous about this party because this was very different to the last work related orientation that she attended. This Ministry of Magic orientation was looking promising as it was outdoors rather than in some beige office. Tabitha smiled and waved at the two gentlemen that were at the archway. |
STEFAAAN *grabs* *also says hi to Tyler and Tabitha* SPOILER!!: Paxton Having three cups of coffee before this event was probably a bad idea. It was like giving coffee to a chihuahua. She was winded up and now.....IT WAS TIME TO SPIN. Ember BOUNCED towards the garden thingy. A GARDEN??!!??! How LOVELY was that?! Oh Ember was positively TWIIIIIRLING at the thought of a lovely garden! And she had dressed brightly for such an occasion, too! Turquoise hair, pink dress--LIME LEGGINGS?! Come on! The REAL question was how could someone NOT dress brightly?! Hehehehee. HE. "Hi! Hello!" she said to a new face. He looked around her age. The twenty-two year old of COURSE felt much younger, but that was okay. "How's it going?" she asked him. Did he need...HELP? Ember LOVED GIVING HELP HGAAAHSHBDWJBDWHFWHFWHFREH Maybe she should stop bouncing. Maybe, also, grinning widely like an idiot at everyone would be ideal, too. But she was just SOOOO FREAKIN' SMEAKIN' HAAAAAPPPEH. Would there be food?! OF COURSE THERE'D BE FOOD. She wanted Food. But first she had to get into the actual event---- ANOTHER PERSON OMG HI. Ember waved SOOOO eagerly at the girl and SMILED. "HI HELLO THERE!" she cried, leaping in front of her and wanting to give her a hug but REFRAINING from doing so becaaaaause that was considered WEIRD. Andmaybeshe'dbearrestedorsomething. NOPE. Not today, Ember! She was ABOUT to possible graze inside WHEEEEEEEENNNNNN. She heard a VROOM. A VROOM. She whipped around, saw the MOTORCYCLE being parked, and oh MY. She just HAD to wait for it's rider to come along. SURE. IT might look creepy, but Ember didn't really care..... BECAUSEMOTORCYCLESWEREAWESOMANDEMBERWASFIVEYEARSOL D. He wasn't getting off though. HMPH. Ember siiiighed and began making her way towards him---"Excuse me--" She said excitedly, and bouncily...."I LOVE MOTORCYCLES CAN I TOUCH YOUR MOTORCYCLE PLEASE OLDER SIR I'D LOVE IT!" she was screaming... She was screaming. Yeah, three cups of coffee wasn't right. |
Mister Grumpy Gills everyone. What. In. Gods. Name. |
It took Erin a lot of encouragement from her sister to actually partake and arrive at this grand event. She'd never been a people's person, yet she valued her job and that had most certainly been the turning point when her sister had done pretty well to convince her. The brunette walked about through entrance and couldn't help but admire the flowers, yet a lot more than just her admiration passed through her mind. She knew some of the names and decided to see how many she could mentally name as she passed by. It seemed alot more appealing to her than striking up an awkward conversation with one of her colleges. Quite an entrance then, wasn't it, naming flowers? Somehow she wished she would survive the night. |
Strutting towards the entrance arch with his shades on and both hands in his jeans' pockets, Aron felt entirely in his element. It was too bad that he hadn't brought his son to this one, but Seren had really wanted mommy time with him and she deserved it. The toddler would have actually enjoyed the wide open spaces and fresh air. Certainly much more than the formal parties that Aron had lugged him too previously. "Nice ride there, mate," he said to the bloke with the motorbike, giving him a firm pat on the back as he passed. No offense to everyone standing around here, but he was just going to excuse himself right on in to the main festivities. Especially after seeing the way the first honking daffodil of the day was throwing herself at the new Department Head - whose name escaped him at the moment. Oops. Nodding his head to the rest of the group, the Australian made his way through the archway and towards some of the tables set up inside. Maybe some food first? |
if anyone wants to grab her. Mercedes was slightly nervous, just slightly though. She had only moved over from across the pond 7 months ago. And here she was with her first real adult job. She was excited too, it seem that everything was starting to come together here now. She had a new boyfriend here too. Her only reminding family member her cousin all though she was back at school now. New York would always be her home, but she was happy here now too. She stepped under the archway and looked around, she wondered if anyone from her new department was here yet, not that she would actually know any of them. By name or face. She was starting to wish that she could have bought Chris with her. He seemed to help her out a lot breaking the ice with new people his bubbly personality and all. She had a nice bubbly personality too. But these were her work colluages. No Glow in the dark Soccer games here. But there was food and plenty of it. |
Anyone? Ezra strode through the entrance archway with his hands placed artfully in his pockets. Yes, he was here. Hold the applause. Reaching one hand up to brush an invisible strand of hair from his forehead, he took the opportunity to swivel his head around and flash a smile in every direction. The Media Liason nodded at each person as he passed. They would be following him to strike up a conversation soon enough. He was sure of it. Just in case, he shot another smile at nobody in particular. Fall in line, folks. Fall in line. |
Penelope would've expected this sort of thing to be a lot more fancy and formal, but this was okay too. Sorta. It just made it a little harder for her to decide what to wear - was it still supposed to be formal or more casual? So she kinda just went with some in-between. Sorta formal but also still pretty casual and not too fancy. She was still a bit nervous, though she wouldn't admit it. Her application had been accepted - which was super exciting and something she'd been worried about for the past few weeks - but now that the time came for it to actually be happening and for her to actually be there and begin working...that was a bit nerve-wracking too. But she could do it. Totally. She'd be fine. Text Cut: Paxton & Ember On her way in, she noticed the guy sitting on a bike just outside of it. That was pretty awesome. It'd been awhile since she'd been around one of those things. "Cool bike," she commented with a grin. And then came a pretty familiar loud voice. Merlin. "Hey there, Ember!" she said. At least there was one person Penelope already knew here then. That was nice. |
quick post, if anyone wants to claim (mention of Paxton because yeah. Motorcycle. xD) She hadn’t had any idea what to expect when she’d gotten the owl informing her that she was employed again. It should have been simple. Amethyst knew Ministry work, but she had never known this Ministry. Plus, two years had never seemed so long as she had walked up to the entrance to the orientation. A part of her wondered if children were allowed, just so she had a distraction from feeling awkward. But Jemma was off with daddy for the day, and she was going to face this alone. She could face this alone. She’d survived everything else, so one little party shouldn’t be that hard. Besides, she’d be spending just about every day with these people so getting to know them was advisable. At least she wasn’t going to feel over- or underdressed. Not with the other females who had arrived before her, although she’d turned a curious glance toward the man on the motorbike as she’d passed. Apparently not everyone was choosing to dress up, and as she’d peeked through into the event itself, she saw that most of the other men had dressed casual, although not all. This would certainly be an interesting event. There weren’t any giant bears to act as a distraction this time either. Just socialization with people relatively her age. |

...... Friendly bunch. "Umm.no thanks..just looking around." She got a head tilt in her direction. |

The result of not watching where he was going? The YATI walked right into some unfortunate soul. It was needless to say Jory was brought back to reality. "Sorry about that.'' He brushed away strands of hair that was blown in his face because of the wind. "I was admiring the arch a little too much.'' Jory didn't even know who this person was whom he had bumped into. |
Amethyst.. and if anyone wants to claim =) Needless to say that the blond has been looking forwards to this day for a long time. It has been close to seven months as an unemployed. And starting the new year with a job was a great start. And the Ministry, too. She had experience with another ministry but she was more excited and optimistic about this one. Because here it felt at home. Lara didn't get long to get ready and be on her way. She made sure she was well-dressed but not too much. She wanted to give a good impression but also not flaunt it. As she got to the entrance, the twenty-four year slowed down and tossed a strand of hair over her shoulder. Her attention was completely on the people who were lingering there. Was that a motorcycle? That earned an eyebrow raise. But moving on. Maybe she'd find someone she knew? It's been a long time since she spent a long time in the London but who knew. And meeting new people was always cool. Lara had no problem with that. Quote:
"Excuse me," She cleared her throat once she was close enough to be heard. "I'm new here." She paused wondering if that was a good thing to reveal. But it wasn't like they were at school or something. "Are you a returning employee?" So that I could stick with you to know the ins and outs and what needs to be done. But the girl was trying to be less straight forward than she usually is. And it wasn't that Lara was an opportunist but she knew how to handle things to her benefit. |
Daphne McKayla Addison had arrived. That was sort of how Daphne felt as she approached the garden party. Not because she thought she was special or anything, though. It was because she'd been waiting to return to the UK for years, and it seemed kind of surreal that she was finally here. She'd visited any times but never actually relocated herself and her family back to her home country. Now if Silas could snag an open position, too, they'd be all set. She paused to look up at the hanging flowers as she took a deep breath. She hated attending events where she knew absolutely nobody. She always felt like she was begging for friends or something, but maybe that was just her. These were her co-workers...all thousand or so of them, it seemed. She had to start somewhere, and that somewhere was right here. She stepped a silver heel forward and watched it press into the grass as she moved through the entranceway. |
For Anna/Daphne. Mention of Enzo. Quote:
As she looked around, she saw a woman about her age by herself hesitate before heading through the arch. Emmalee didn't recognize her, but that didn't mean much. She'd only been at the ministry a few months before the holiday. She also saw someone who seemed to be not enjoying himself, or his eyes had come loose inside his head and had started rolling around on their own. Emmalee offered him a small smile and wave, before following behind the woman. "Quite the party," she offered, as she stepped beside her. "I'm Emmalee. Are you new or...?" Had they just not met? |
*claims a few of you* So it was time for the ministry to open again. Victoria was always so excited for this day to come. She wasn't a big fan of the closing for the holiday, she would rather work and most of the time did work over the break, but this year it was different. Very different, the recently married thirty six year old was supporting a new ring and was not as thrilled to be back. Her being back meant Cosgrach was back at Hogwarts. Though she couldn't help, but be a bit happy to be back to work. Walking into the entrance way she looked around, it was a very odd theme and things just well she wasn't sure how exciting the event really would be, but she came to greet some new people. SPOILER!!: Mercedes and Enzo The first new person she saw she recognized and new to be her new coworker. "Mercedes." She waved at her son's girlfriend's cousin. She had met the young lady a few times in the past year and moved over towards her. "Hello, are you having fun so far?" She hoped she was at least. "Welcome to the department by the way. Mariel told me you will be in Games." They were in need of some positions filled so it was very exciting. Glancing over she noticed a familiar face. She didn't know him personally, but she knew who he was. Giving Enzo a small wave, it was her job to know the new and old quidditch players. She couldn't help but be surprised that a man of his Quidditch background wasn't wanting a position under her and Mariel. "Good evening Enzo" She nodded at the man as she stood with Mercedes. SPOILER!!: Amethyst After speaking with Mercedes and Enzo for a bit, the blonde thought she'd go in search of her own boss. She figured Mariel would be around somewhere, but where she wasn't sure. There seemed to be many new employees this year, she just hoped many would be sitting in Games with her. Seeing someone that seemed to be new, Victoria smiled and walked over, "Hello, having a good time?" She hoped she was at least, "I'm Victoria Maroon, oh I mean Culloden. Victoria Culloden." She giggled at herself for the mess up. She hadn't been use to saying Culloden out loud yet, but she did love the ring to it. Victoria Culloden, yes she loved it. |

Enzo sighed and rolled his blue eyes again at everyone that was showing up and not recognizing him. Did he really play Professional Quidditch for well ten years to not have people know who he was? He was and always will be a damned good Quidditch player and people were just be bopping along like he was some ghost that you weren't able to see. "I'm surrounded by a bunch of losers." He muttered to himself. No too long after he had heard his name from a female voice. Uh oh. That was never good. Enzo turned towards the voice and looked at the woman. "Yes. Good Evening, miss." He said smoothly. The Brit looked at the girl that was standing next to the woman. Not much there to look at and then put his attention back to the woman. |
Text Cut: AmbiguouslyMe A few moments later, Daphne realized she was still watching her heeled feet press into the grass rather than looking up and watching where she was going. She wasn't even that nervous. She was just mesmerized by the look of the grass waving beneath her feet. Glancing up, she thought about how ridiculous it would be the run into somebody else her first day on the job. She was technically not 'on the job', but it was close enough. So many thoughts were running through her mind, so she tried to clear them and focus instead on making a decent impression. She wondered if anybody she'd been to Hogwarts with was here today. Class of 2067, anybody? She was almost stepping into the actual party itself when she heard a voice nearby. It was too close not to be directed to her, so with a turn of her head, she was met with a redhead about her age. "They really know how to put on a show, don't they?" she remarked. "I was expecting some big auditorium filled with folding chairs and guest speakers." Truth. A party was a welcome sight, though. Then there was the inevitable question. "Do I look lost or something?" she asked with a smile. "I'm the new Senior Dragon Researcher in Creatures." Pausing, she added, "Daphne Addison." |
Gregory walked into the orientation and looked around nervously. Besides the owl post job this was his first real job and somehow even though he liked people he was never sure if people would like him. He looked around spotted a girl that appeared to be his age but his ability to speak around girls his age tended to falter spectacularly. Usually not in his favor either. He sighed and looked around at the archway as he passed under it. He stepped to the side to analyze the flowers a little more and smiled. It was pretty cool. Looking up again he spotted the girl had now been joined by 2 more. If he was bad with one...imagine three....nope he was just gonna look at these flowers a little more. |

"Unless they've completely renovated during holiday, our departments share a level," she offered, matter-of-factly. They'd likely see a fair bit of one another. Emmalee welcomed that possibility, her social life being generally a blind date followed by ice cream with her kneazle. Or just... ice cream with her kneazle. "What did you do before this?" |
Text Cut: AmbiguouslyMe Daphne extended her hand and completed the shake. "That makes the number of people I know here a grand total of one," she said with a grin. One, meaning this woman right here. She listened as Emmalee talked about her own job, and remarkably, it didn't seem all that different from what Daphne was used to. "I was actually doing the exact same thing before now," she answered. "I worked at the Norwegian Ministry of Magic as a Dragon Researcher. I'm not Norwegian, though. I was born and raised here and went to Hogwarts before university. I took an open spot at the Norwegian Ministry, because it was in my field, but I've always wanted to come back home." So here she was. Sharing a level sounded different but fun. "Creatures and plants together? Hmm...that's new, but I guess it makes things more interesting," she commented. "Do the two ever clash? The creatures and the plants, I mean." Not the employees. As she finished that question, she looked into the area and noted they were still standing in the entranceway. "You want to head on in?" she asked. |
Quote:
"I know what you mean about coming home," she said as she starte dto walk into the party. "The year before I started here, I was traveling for a private greenhouse. Always somewhere but here. It was nice to come back and settle into a place." Emmalee gestured over toward the food. "That seems as good a place to start as any?" She began to walk in that direction, pulling a hair tie from her jacket pocket to loosely tie back her hair. "Our work areas were mostly separate. Every so often a creature being transported in would react poorly to a new plant that was also being moved at the same time, but really, nothing much." The... characters on that floor, however, were a differently story. But Emmalee reserved comment for the time being. |
*should be working in the backyard, posts anyway* (Lara, Victoria, anyone else?) Quote:
She hadn’t noticed the girl who had sort of sidled up next to her, either, until she heard her voice. “Oh!,” she said, turning and already prepared to apologize had she been in the other girl’s way. Apparently that wasn’t the case, though, and she gave her a rueful yet still friendly smile at the question. “Unfortunately I’m new as well,” she answered in her soft sort-of-hybrid accent. She was beginning to hear more Scottish in it, but there was still evidence of everywhere else she’d been. “Maybe we could find our way together,” she continued. “I’m Amethyst. Amethyst McCrae, hired to work in the Minister’s office?” Hopefully the introduction would make the other girl feel less awkward, or whatever the sense she was getting from her was. Quote:
She had smiled at the question, however. At least there hadn’t needed to be any apologies here either. “I’m having a lovely time, thank you. Everything is just so beautiful here, isn’t it?,” she replied, glancing around again although still making sure the two near her knew her focus was still on them. She could multitask. Besides, that little name slipup told her quite a bit. “It’s nice to meet you, Mrs. Culloden,” she continued, smiling again. Just because her life was complicated didn’t mean she had to be jealous of others. She had enough for now. “Amethyst McCrae.” She left off any other information for now. It hadn’t seemed quite necessary when that hadn’t been asked. |
