Boating Lake

Finally walking into one of the other areas of the party, Enzo thought that maybe a place away from all the people would do him good. Well maybe it wouldn't but he would like some peace and quiet after talking to his new boss. His new boss that was also new to the Ministry. Enzo didn't think that this party or these people were overwhelming because he had been to parties like these before for Quidditch but not being noticed is something that he isn't used too. He doesn't have to be the center of attention he just wished that someone that new a thing or two about Quidditch would pop up somewhere and know of him. He ran into one person that knew his name but he didn't know hers but that was alright because she knew of him and that was very kind of her to say something. |

The brunette wandered out towards the lake, her hand moving subconsciously to her protruding abdomen as she felt a few little kicks. Smiling softly to herself, she stood at the edge of the water looking out at the swans swimming nearby. It was really peaceful and beautiful out here. Quiet too as not many had ventured out this way.. though she did notice someone not far from her. Green eyes glanced in the direction of the man as she wondered for a moment if he could possibly be the man she placed into Patents, before realizing he appeared very familiar. It took her a moment as she tilted her head to look at him before she realized who he was. She had spent a lot of time with the Quidditch teams in the British and Irish league when she worked in regulations, so she was acquainted with quite a few of the players, having to visit their games and practices for work-related reasons, and she was sure he had played with one of the teams. "Enzo, isn't it?" she began, looking at him quizzically. Perhaps he'd remember her from her former job, at least by sight if not by name. "You played for.." She searched her mind a moment, "Puddlemere, yes? What are you doing at a Ministry function?" Had he gotten a job with the Ministry? That was news to her that he had retired from professional Quidditch, but that seemed the only logical reason. |

"Hey, there." He went up to the new guy and nodded, "You new around or something?" This seemed to be the year of people his age actually started working that the Ministry, "I'm Vincent." And don't try to shorten it dud... Vince was only for his bandmates or for their groupies. |
for monk Hands stuffed in his pockets, Legend allowed his gaze to wander on people as as they walked around the beautiful area that was set up for the meeting. He wasn't on duty or anything. At least not officially. Being part of the MLE always meant that he had to be aware, but no, he wasn't working. However the blond still stood by the lake, watching, and not entirely sure why he was here in the first place. This whole day was about greeting old friends and meeting new ones. But he didn't really talk to anyone out of the MLE. And he wasn't exactly up for making new friends. Not today at least. The idea just didn't appeal to him, mostly because....it sounded difficult. And almost pointless. Eyes flickering back to the boats he sighed and stood up a bit straighter. Who would have thought that Legend Chosen would have been one for solitude? |

And what a better way to celebrate being back at work than a nice party? She couldn't think of one. The red head sauntered through the place, speaking greetings to those she knew and snatching up a plate of what looked to be mini cakes when she had the chance. Now all she needed was some entertainment... ...... in the form of a tall blonde man. "If I let you ride in my boat with me," She made her way to his side, finishing off a pastry thingy. "Are you gonna try and eat all my food?" He was known for such things. |

Nature was a beautiful thing, it really made Enzo feel calm and happy. Even though he didn't want to be here right now just looking at the water, the boats and trees just made him fell a lot better than he already was feeling. Enzo thought about his childhood home in America when his mother father had first split up, he was only five years old at the time and his sister was two years old. He didn't know what was going on with his family only that his mother had stayed at their townhouse in London. That was the first time he had ever been to America. There was this lovely lake house that his father had bought, he loved that place. With everything that was happening at the time he could just go and sit by the lake and read a book and escape into a different world. Quote:
Enzo looked back out at the lake and every so often the swan boats. Not that long after the woman had shown up there was another guy. Enzo bet he was new guy too because he was asking so why not? Enzo nodded and looked at the man. "Hello." Nature was a healing power, really. He should have gone here before. The grumpiness had seemed to somewhat pass. "Is it that obvious that I'm new here?" Enzo let out a chuckle. "I'm Enzo. Nice to meet you Vincent." Try to make friends. Try to make friends. So far so good. The thing about Enzo was he never was good at making friends but when he did they would last a lifetime. |

Boats and more people and more boats but this time rocking. Legend raised his hand and scratched his head. Surely time would go by faster if he were actually talking to people. Ooor eating. Eating sounded better. Eating could lead to talking after all, but mostly it just lead to eating, and nothing was wrong with that. He turned just as a familiar figure with bright red hair approached. "Well...not all of it." He reached for a pastry and took a bite. "Sup, 'lani?" |

Alani popped one into her mouth, and started off for a boat, expecting him to follow. |

Or had. Before her absence, in which suddenly, it felt strange to still find his sandwiches in his pocket. His eyes flickered toward the boat. There had been zero plans of actually getting on one but if the redhead was offering, riding the boat actually seemed like more fun then standing there people watching. Not hesitating he turned and quickly followed after her. "I guess you can go in first since it's ladies first and all that. I'll hold your plate while you get in." Heheh. |

Enzo looked at the man and then back out at the calming water. Playing a professional Quidditch mat was on his mind right now. It had only been a little over a year and he was losing him mind over this. He didn't know what to do with himself. He was glad that he had gotten to travel around the world last year at his own leisure but now that he was done with that he couldn't help but think about Quidditch more often that he did in the last year. "I am new and I am out of my comfort zone here." No sense in lying about him feeling out of place. "I'm sure people around these parks haven't see that many people twice in the Ministry unless you work in the same department or go out of your way to see them." Enzo shrugged. He wasn't going to ask the guy what he was busy with because he really didn't give a damn. |
Dani! There wasn't a lot that could get her away from the marquee, but there were two advantages to declining food. The first was the escape from the crowds - people she cared very little for, people that were grubby, self centered and more often than not, painfully disappointing. Then there was Gavin, and he was reason enough to move to a more secluded part of the park, away from the delicacies of the day. For once she wouldn't be hovering around the food table filling a plate, but this wasn't so difficult to imagine considering half the Merlin forsaken foods had little edible flowers on them. Was there anything she could dislike more? The croquet set seemed to be virtually untouched at this point, and she was a little tempted to give those mallets a shot. Unfortunately Gavin had other ideas. "Swans?" she mused, an arm casually entwined in his. He was making her ride a swan? It was hardly what she had in mind where escaping the crowds were involved. "Really?" |

So he had retired and the timing would make sense as to why it escaped her notice, not to mention the reason why he was here at a Ministry function. Apparently he was working for the Ministry now.. but what he said next threw her for a minute. "No openings?" Eyebrow raised, she fixed him with a curious look. "Your application did not come across my desk, Mr. Abernathy. If it had, I'm fairly certain I would have offered you a position." Former players often ended up in the Quidditch division of her department, though sometimes elsewhere. But their expertise was usually helpful in Games and Sports. Transportation though.. "I suppose someone in Human Resources saw something in your resume that fit well with Transportation," she added, lips pursed slightly in thought. It was too bad for her though having lost two in Quidditch and only gaining one. She likely could have used him. But maybe Transportation needed the position filled more.. not that she cared about that. Her department needed people too. Pulling herself from her reverie, she offered the man a small smile to introduce herself as it seemed that he didn't quite place her after all. "Mariel De La Garza," she said, holding her hand out to shake. "I'm the Head of the Department for Magical Games and Sports. What is your position with Transportation? We often work closely with that department.." If it involved brooms, that is. She eyed him up, thinking a moment. She wondered if she could work something out and eventually get him into her department, since he seemed so eager and all. |

"You can pretend it's whatever you want it to be but it's away from everyone else and allows you some one on one with me. It's a brilliant deal, you have to admit." His first conceited statement of the afternoon, it'd been long coming, even she had to admit that. "Could change the design if it bothers you that much." But then everyone else would and he wasn't sure the owners would appreciate that. Lead by example Ms. Browne. |
Quote:
As for changing the design, well now that was appealing. But she had always endured her hardships, faced them head on, and in the grand scheme of things, this was just a swan shaped boat - it was hardly worth the effort. "I'm confident I'll live," and therefore, no need to kick up a fuss, right? Emily dropped her hand from Gavin's arm and lightly stepped off the jetty and into one of the boats. It wasn't so bad once she was in it, didn't look as much like a swan from the inside than it had from the outside... she could ignore this now. |

Better paid, better fed, better at their job. She passed by the first two boats, deciding on the third. "I'm not just any lady, Chosen. I'm multi-talented. One of them includes getting into a boat while holding onto food." To prove herself correct, she did JUST THAT. |

Gavin would have offered her a hand into the boat with it decided she'd live through this ordeal but typical, independent her, she was already helping herself in, leaving nothing for him to do but follow suit. Nothing new. "You don't think those things will try having a go at the boats do you?" He asked, nodding to the swans in the near distance as he settled in next to her. After that one year with the demon bird flying into their condemned building he didn't much trust anything covered in feathers. |
Quote:
Once they were both settled into their cosy seating arrangement, Emily claimed his hand back and laced her fingers together with his. Let he boat ride commence. The real swans though, now that was something. She'd almost forgotten Gavin's aversion to birds... until now. ... "Yes, I do," she replied truthfully. There would be no sugar coating it. "If they're used to being fed, then they may display aggression... but it's okay. I'm here to protect you." Did he doubt her? |
SPOILER!!: She's so mean XD "I never see the need for urgency and haste with work. That's how errors come about and I'm usually on top of things regardless." He corrected casually. There were times when Gavin displayed urgency, Emily of all people should have known that, but it was never for work. No. The man would never be fussed. "I'm simply being a gentleman, saving you from the swooning damsel in distress bit that might come about as a result of my dashing good looks. Most people I know would have said thank you." Or kissed their boyfriend but you know, however she wanted to react was fine too. Her fingers entwined in his did little to calm the small panic rising. They were headed out onto a lake filled with potentially demonic birds and if they all decided to tag team, you could only hex so many before you became overwhelmed and gave in to your bitter doom. His poor face. "Good thing I already commissioned you for face protection, yeah?" Eyes completely on the birds. To think Emily use to think he was joking about face protection. |
Quote:
Well...maybe. Multi-talneted lady. Okay then....uh...."You're sorta weird." That being said, Legend followed her lead, stepped into the swan and took a seat. |
