He just bet that she had thought about it a lot, it was probably all she had thought about over the summer. Marcus could just imagine her scheming a hundred and one ways to make his life a misery.

He groaned inwardly at the mention of her asking her peers on what they would do. No doubt Destiny would have had a lot of suggestions and Josh...

And then she shocked him with something totally unexpected.

Did he like to cook?

Does a broomstick fly?

"I love to cook" he said, making sure to keep the eagerness out of his voice. Yes he liked to cook and he was very good at it too but that didn't mean he wanted to spend all day in the kitchen cooking meal after meal for Evelyn and no doubt her friends as well.

"Is that what you want me to do? Cook for you?"

He was about ask her more but then there was a knock on the door, followed by another one and Marcus looked up to see Joshua and Adam standing there. He held up his hand for the boys to wait where they were and turned to face Evelyn again.

"Would you prefer this conversation to remain private?"
