The Weasley Christmas Dinner

Swarms of people were running around Hogwarts. Spells were being shot from every direction, she had just barely dodged one. She passed Cho Chang and Seamus by the fourth floor but she wasn't looking for them.Again she ducked as a spell was shot at her, she returned fire.
"Alright there Angelina?" A voice called from the fifth floor. She looked up and grinned. Oliver Wood looked down at her, bloody but grinning.
"I'm alright...Wood look out!!" A death Eater shot a spell at Wood which he skillfully blocked and began dueling. She continued down the flights of stairs until she saw the back of a head she recognized but then she frowned. His hair was sticking up at the back all wrong. That wasn't him. But where was he running to? Where were they all running to? Angelina too broke into a sprint in the same direction as everyone else. There was Fred falling, still smiling.
A scream shattered the silence of a dark flat and Angelina Johnson sat up in bed. Her face was washed with sweat and her heart was pounding hard against her chest. She wiped the tears from her eyes and fell back unto her pillow then sobbed. It was a dream she had at least three nights a week. Every time she had it the grief became fresh.

George Weasley was awoken by a similar dream, only his hurt more because he didn't save him. Fred called to him but he couldn't save him. He sat up in bed and pulled the covers off planting his feet on the cold floor. He looked at the clock, it was only 3 am. Sighing, he moved to the window and pulled it open. The cold breeze licked his cheeks and he closed his eyes, allowing it to caress his face. Fred has always been there when he had bad dreams, now his twin was the cause of his bad dreams, and he was all alone.

On the morning of the dinner, the Weasley house was buzzing with excitement. Most of the family had arrived the day before to help set things up and the house had been further expanded to accommodate everyone. The festivities however, was to be kept at the back of the house where Bill and Fluer had their wedding. Bill and Charlie helped Mr.Weasley to set up the tents while Percy and Ginny strung decorations. As usual Ron and Harry had degnoming duties and Ron complained bitterly.
"Hermione dear, that's a bit too much salt, that will do," Mrs.Weasley chided as her and Hermione worked in the kitchen. Hermione's ear burned red as she apologized.
"I'm sorry Mrs.Weasley."
"It's ok dear, I'll take it from her." She gently escorted Hermione from the kitchen and shut the door leaving Hermione to go chat it up with Fluer and her sister Gabriel.
One by one the guests started to arrive. Katie and Lee arrived together, followed by Alicia then Oliver and Jennifer arrived shortly after. Soon ministry members and other friends of the family started pouring in. Alicia kept watching the clock. The dinner was to start at four.
"Where the hell is Angelina?" She asked nudging Katie. Katie frowned and looked at the clock too.
"Do you think we should go get her?" Katie asked. Lee shook his head.
"I don't think that's a very good idea. We should give her some space. George isn't here either yet, but I'm positive they will both make it." Katie beamed at him and Lee kissed her forehead.
There was a knock on the door and Alicia rushed to go get it.
"I'll get it!!!" She flung open the door to see one of her best friends standing there.
"Lina!!! I'm so glad you came. Everyone is getting ready to move around the back, dinner is about to start."
Mrs.Weasley too kept returning to the house to check the clock. George's hand was still pointed to Weasley's Wizarding Wheezys. Her guests were becoming hungry so she went back to the back to announce that dinner would be served. The evening wore on beautifully as everyone laughed and chatted about past events and current ones too. The noise seized suddenly however as a new person entered the scene. In a flash Mrs.Weasley had left the table and had George in a tight tearful hug.
"Oh Georgie I knew you would come. I kept telling Author you were a strong boy. I have missed you so much." Georgie tightened his hold around his mother.
"I'm here now mum, I missed you too."he said quietly. There was not a dry eye among the women in the crowd as they watched Mrs.Weasley reunite with her son. Ron too was complaining of dust in his eyes. And so the festivities continued on into the evening. Though it was hard for George and Angelina they both laughed along with their friends and ate until they could hold no more.
After a while Angelina broke away from the group and went for a little walk around the field behind the Weasley home. Her and Fred took walks through the fields whenever they visited the Weasley's together. Her walk was becoming more painful than she thought but she wasn't ready to go back just yet. After sitting on top of a small hill to watch the setting sun, Angelina made her way back to the Burrow. As she had hoped a lot of the guests had left and a few were still at the back. She however stopped below the window of Fred and George's room and looked up. The window was open. A figure soon appeared inside the room and Angelina felt her heart pound. Red hair and same built as the man she loved. She watched him move about the room and her heart kept pounding on, then he turned and she saw the hole where his ear was suppose to be. Her heart sank and she felt stupid. Of course it was George. Fred was gone, but what was he doing up there?
Though for much of the evening Angelina felt like being alone, she wanted to talk to George. Somehow she felt that talking to him would help her feel better in some way, so she made her way inside and up to his room. She gently knocked on the door.
George frowned when he heard a knock on his old bedroom door. He was lying on his back on his brother's bed reliving a lot of the moments they shared there. Who knew he was up there, he told them he was going for a walk. He figured he would just let them knock until they went away but Angelina slowly pushed the door open. George sat up.
"Angelina.."
"George," she replied sitting next to him on the bed. He looked at her then looked down into his lap.
"I'm sorry Angie, I'm sorry I couldn't save him." George had tears in his eyes, a sight Angelina had never seen before. She didn't know what to do or say so she let him speak.
"We did everything together and this one time..this one time that I was off somewhere else he just.." his voice broke and Angelina felt for sure that this was the first time that George had really cried after he lost his brother. She hugged him and let him sob on her shoulder.
"It wasn't your fault George. It wasn't anyone's fault but those awful death eaters."
After what seemed like hours, George's sobs became sniffles until there was just no sound at all. She gently eased him off her shoulder and looked at him. He looked weary.
"Maybe you should lay down, try getting some sleep." She said kindly to him. George laid back unto his pillow and Angelina started getting up. He held unto her hand.
"Stay with me..please...until I fall asleep." She looked down at him then smiled.
"O.K" George shifted over and Angelina lay next to him on Fred's bed. They both lay in silence but were each comforted by each others presence. They had both loved Fred, although in different ways.
"Do you think he is Happy?" she asked after a while. George sighed.
"Fred can be happy in the gloomiest of places, so I think he's fine." She smiled and hugged him.
"Thanks George." He hugged her back and squeezed her comfortingly. Once again his room door pushed open. They both looked towards the door.
"Jennifer!" George let go of Angelina and sat up. Angelina sat up too and for a moment there was awkward silence.
"It's really not what it looks like.." he tried to explain. Jennifer shook her head and tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Classic line George Weasley." She turned on her heels and rushed down the stairs. George plopped back unto the pillow and swore.
"I think I should go." Angelina said getting up from the bed. George held unto her hand but she pulled it away.
"I'm sorry I really should go." She too rushed down the stairs only to bump into the trio of Alicia Lee and Katie.
"Angelina...what's going on?" Lee asked. Angelina pushed past them.
"Nothing happened!" Alicia and Katie looked at each other and grinned.
"No one said anything happened, but why was Jennifer crying? She left in a hysteria!" Lee sounded truly concerned but the girls both had half smiles o their faces.
Angelina stopped at the foot of the stairs and looked up at them, her eyes teary.
"I shouldn't have come." She turned and left the Burrow.
