What's your favourite series?

Outside the Harry Potter franchise, what is everyones favourite television series or series of films?

FearlessLeader19 06-01-2018 07:18 PM

For movies, its definitely the Marvel ones xD
TV series: The CSI Franchise, How To Get Away With Murder and Shandowhunters. Of course I have lots more and it would be a lengthy list xD

DeanThomassSpectacle 05-13-2019 09:46 PM

I really enjoy The 4400 and the other stuff that most people discover on Netflix. Harry Potter is not even something I know a whole lot about, the fanbase is just usually fun to interact with (comparatively).

Harron Peasley 02-08-2021 05:10 PM

I'm not sure I can pick favourites! But I have been rewatching Bones recently and am nearing the end. It's definitely up there as one of my top TV series - detective, science, mystery and Seeley Booth. What's not to love?

Nemesis 02-12-2021 10:20 PM

I really enjoyed "Dark" the most. The story is complicated, yet makes total sense. It's scary enough to keep you on edge, but not enough to make a coward like me stop watching. :D

For those that haven't watched it, it involves time-travel and non-linear understanding of time (as well as romance). So if you're into that, this might be your cup of tea.

BanaBatGirl 02-12-2021 11:39 PM

I love The Office (US) and Black Mirror. I don't rewatch/reread many things, but I could honestly watch Black Mirror once a year and not get sick of it. I love The Office because it's just... a love story/tribute to the average American midwestern life, in a way. It also reminds me of happier times as a teen when I'd watch it and then go to school and talk about it with my fave teachers, and come on SS and talk about it with Kelvin. I think we both watched all of it one summer, maybe around when S3 or S4 or S5 was airing/had just aired...? I'll have to Google what year that was. (09)? Ok after some Googling, the date was right, had to be 09, but I cannot keep track of the seasons of that show. GUESS I'M DUE FOR A REWATCH.

My favorite film is, and may ALWAYS be, The Dark Knight. :banabat: So many reasons here, but it has such a tight plot/iconic dialogue/excellent cinematography/complex meaning/commentary/I could go OFF.

Anything with a lot of interior meaning and layers of complexity gets me.

ArianaBlack 02-13-2021 12:19 AM

Oooh, I'm with Roro on The Office (US), that's a great one!

My FAVORITE SERIES of ALL time though is and will always be LOST. I do a full rewatch at least once a year, sometimes twice. I really don't know what it is that gets me. The mystery? The Sci Fi? The complex characters? The way it messes with my brain? The dialogue? I love it all, I really do.

RandomRaven 02-13-2021 06:01 AM

Grey's Anatomy :xd: I know it's getting downhill since 2015 but somehow I just can't... Stop watching it? I lost count how many times I watch this series yup.

Aside that I love Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Friends  although the joke of Friends could be a little bit irrelevant for nowadays but it's the product of their era (and I grew up at those era so I can still find it funny just for nostalgia purpose).

natekka 02-19-2021 11:02 AM

I'm deeeeeefinitely the type of person who rewatches their favourite shows instead of watching new ones. I've got better at watching new movies, but with TV shows I still tend to stick to my favourites. I think it's a comfort thing tbh. But there are several shows that I consider to be my favourites and I've rewatched them qUITE a few times now.

Bones is top of the list, I think. I can't even really explain why. I just love the characters SO much and the dynamics between them and the plots. It makes me feel ALL THE THINGS and I've rewatched it at least 4 times, which is a lot considering there are 12 seasons.

Another favourite is Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It makes me so happy. And at this point I have no idea how many times I've rewatched it. :lmao: I'm so sad it's ending but I have no doubt that it will feel complete when it does.

The last one I can think of off the top of my head is The Good Place. I've only watched it through twice so far but oh my gOODNESS, I love it so, so much. The characters. The humour. The depth. The lessons it teaches you. If you haven't watched it, I hiiiiiighly recommend it.

Other shows I enjoy: The Umbrella Academy, Death in Paradise, How I Met Your Mother, Lucifer, Chuck, Teen Wolf.

BanaBatGirl 02-19-2021 10:39 PM

You guys are naming some good ones!!!!!!! I came back because I remembered two OTHERS. How could I NOT NAME THEM!

The Great British Baking Show (see my MoTM interview of essentially the same name) is a fave of all time. It's so feel-goodsy and it inspired me to try to become better at baking. I actually get people at my workplace who come up to me and tell me they're watching this show now because they know how much I love it. This is one I never tire of rewatching. (I think Nancy's season is my fave!!? Though I also LOVE Nadiya. Bruh. I might go fire this up on the Netflix right meow.)

And

Westworld is my jam. I honestly wish the Nolan brothers weren't taken because they're such perfect psych nerds and it really shows in the shows/movies they write. Uh. Man I love Westworld.

:butshy: that's ALL from me this time

Harron Peasley 02-19-2021 10:54 PM

Okay - Grey's was up there for me for a while, but I haven't watched it recently. I should catch up and see if I still love it.

Bones always reminds me of Natalie :loved: it's one of our mutually loved shows and I could talk to you about it for hours, Nat. ^_^

RORO. You have epic taste - I too ADORE Westworld and Black Mirror. Bith SO COMPLEX and intriguing. Personally, though, I loved Black Mirror more when it wasn't on Netflix - it's such an unpopular opinion, I know, because obviously Netflix is HUGE and we get more episodes more regularly now, but idk - when it was on C4 it was like Brooker had more time to completely perfect eVERYthing because there were less episodes per series and more time between series...? ON SAYING that though, I think the first series they released via Netflix had some of my fave episodes, and the 'chose your own adventure' on was SO CLEVER. It was like, Black Mirroring Black Mirror. Makes my brain hurt and scares me in such a REAL way because most of it seems so possible.

Another fave that I need to mention is The Night Manager. It's one of the few things where the adaptation is GENUINELY better than the book - in my opinion, anyway. The casting is absolutely superb and it's such an incredibly written and acted series. I love that multiple big picture companies tried to make a film and failed, but BBC perfected it with a 6 part drama. I'm obsessed with it. The fact they made Burr a female as well and then wrote Olivia Coleman's pregnancy into the script because they couldn't see anyone else as the character is just.. so right.

Ghiocei1989 02-24-2021 11:29 AM

I think I liked Chuck Norris and Dog the bounty hunter series if you ever lived in the US. I like a bunch of stuff, just not enough to remember to post it here. Cause it kinda confuses me for the moment. I have Netflix and Tubi to watch em.

Harron Peasley 03-22-2021 08:26 PM

LINE OF DUTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The sixth series just started here in the UK and once more I am HOOKED. Some incredible acting and plots, and the surprises always keep coming with this one. It's one of those series that you REALLY have to concentrate on, and sometimes you wont pick up on everything the first watch, but that's something I enjoy immensely.

Ghiocei1989 03-27-2021 03:30 PM

Id also like Tubi movie series History documentaries and movies. World War 2 and Civil War.

Sangeetha 03-28-2021 03:31 PM

I love the MCU! Have grown up with Marvel movies, so they hold a special place in my heart!

Shows - Schitt's Creek is one of my all time favourite shows! So heartwarming, progressive and wholesome, it is like a hot bowl of chicken soup on a cold day. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is another favourite.

Dark is a show I really enjoyed watching as well.

General Hospital
Dog the Bounty Hunter
The Kitchen
Symon's Suppers

If I could recommend one TV series, it would HAVE to be Crazy Ex Girlfriend on Netflix. It has everything… absolutely hilarious as well as touching on serious topics regarding mental health, too. It is also a musical, with the best original songs ever. I mean - what MORE could you need from a TV show? It’s absolutely hysterical, and it’s my life ambition to spread its amazingness!! Currently rewatching it for the fifth time, I think. :xd:

WATCH IT, YALL.

YESSSSS!! Such a good show! :loved:

Right now I've went back into old shows that I have loved. Man Vs. Food, Hoarders, and Storage Wars, but a newer one that I have loved is Atypical.

DeanThomassSpectacle 09-04-2021 03:22 AM

Comic book stuff. Definitely one of the hobbies I’m most passionate about.

ArtemisJoy 11-30-2021 10:28 AM

There a couple of TV series that I love so much that I re-watch them all the time.

The Big Bang Theory (I am re-watching the series again now)
Lucifer
M*A*S*H
The Good Place
Brooklyn Nine Nine
Witcher

DeanThomassSpectacle 12-24-2021 10:09 PM

Finally watched the Bones pilot and loved it.

YESSS!!!! Like I 1000000000% agree on this. I've watched it at least twice all the way through and go down a rabbit hole of just listening to the songs on youtube/spotify every couple months, because it's just one of those shows that's like down-to-earth enough to be able to connect to the characters, but also far enough removed to be able to know it's a tv show. Also.... the INCLUSION. LIKE, you get openly bi characters of a middle age man. How many shows offer that kind of representation :x3: I could go on and on about it... because it's just THAT AMAZING :xd: The way it approaches mental health topics, in this serious way, but also poke fun at it... and like, say that it's okay to not be okay

'Dark' was wonderful. The story was convoluted, yet interesting. It also had one of the most satisfying finales ever as well.

^ We have very similar tastes! :D

'Brooklyn Nine Nine' is one of my comfort shows. I've lost count of the number of times I've watched it
It's super progressive, and it tackles serious issues with humour. It's absolutely beautiful.

'The Good Place' is my favourite sitcom. Period. It's such a unique show that makes you think as much as it makes you laugh. I never thought I'll see a show as heartwarming, soulful and hilarious, which talks about heavy topics such as moral philosophy, ethical capitalism, etc with humour in such a light-hearted way. The characters, the plotline, the performances - everything is perfect!

'Schitt's Creek' is also a beautiful beautiful show. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry. The character development is fantastic and it is also a superb show with wonderful performances and a wonderful plot with amazing humour.

aRogueOne 09-26-2022 09:17 AM

My favourite series is 'How I Met Your Mother'. No matter how many times I watch it from start to finish, I will never not get emotional and love every minute.
