Alex stared at the blackboard for a few minutes, reading the instructions thoroughly. The potion didn't sound very hard to brew, but the again, Potions was definitley not one of her better subjects.

Frowning slightly, she picked up her quill and couldn't help but Notice that Branxton kept looking Nadia's way now and then. Once she finished writing down the directions and reading them, yet again, for what seemed like the tenth time, she pulled out the materials she needed and started crusihing the snake fangs. Once she was done with that, she set them aside.

She got up out of her seat, and slowly wandered over to the desk up front from where she took 4 horned slugs. As soon as she got back, she dropped them in the cauldron which was filled exactly with 500 ml of water. Quickly, she grabbed her wand from her robes and flicked it, making a small flame appear underneath the cauldron.

After reheating the mixture for ten minutes, Alex added 2 g of dried nettles and stirred clockwise for exactly five minutes. She peeked inside the cauldron and noticed it was bubbling slightly, so with another flick of her wand, the flame had died down a bit.

Once again, she glanced up at the blackboard, making sure that she had been following the directions correctly so far. Now for the sanke fangs. Grunting slightly, she reached over at the far end of her desk and grabbed the snake fangs that she had crushed earlier. Scanning the classroom, she noticed that Jaren and Noel were still crushing them -- with somewhat more enthusiasm than normally. Re-focusing on the potion, she sprinkled 0.2 g of crushed fangs in it and stirred counter-clockwise for seven minutes. While waiting for the potion to bol for another ten minutes, she noticed that Nadia had already finished brewing her potion. That was really no surprise, considering that she was one of the top students within the school.

Ten minutes later, she removed the cauldron from the fire and placed it on a desk close by. Flicking her wand and murmuring something under her breath, the fire was put out instantly, although the place where it had burned was still rather hot.

ACK, more and more people seemed to be finishing before her. She moved to her desk quickly and stirred the potion clockwise for two minutes. What was next? Procupine quills. Wait -- where did she put those?! Alex dived under her desk to look for them. Erm, odd place to start looking, no? Well, they were not there, that was for sure. As she got back up from under there, she noticed that the procupine quills were there, on her desk, all along. Jeez, she was really out of it today. After adding three porcupine quills she stirred it five times clockwise and five times couter-clockwise.

Impatiently, she stared at the clock and after about seven minutes went by and the potion was completley cooled off, she ladled it into a vial and sealed off the top. Quickly, she scribbled her name and the name of the potion they had just brewed on the vial and placed it on the Professor's desk.

That wasn't too bad.
