See, this is the fin bro in Claude speaking. No way would dear Cella Archer ever come up with something like that. She should leave all financial matters in his hands as he was better fitted. She will try to negotiate that 20% cut, though. Pay your talents better, Claudykins! "You keep breaking my heart today, birdie. First, you couldn't point me to the direction of chickens in the Square." Because she was in her Granny Goose shoes then, but still! "And now this!" By the way, any drama that Cella was tangled in was always purely his doing. Claude was good at ruffling her feathers, it's true.
"If you can't take me anywhere, then we can't do this again." Cella raised her left hand and wiggled her fingers on it - her brows were also wiggling. Did he know what she meant? The thing where a certain fake ring was involved? What can she say - she was feeling silly today. This was his fault. Always!
Yeah, she was baiting him. And what about it? Take the bait, Claude, there was a café barista they had to convince soon.
And the pinch? He was getting a pinch back. So very many pinches up Cella's sleeve today, he ought to be careful!
Sucker for— "Hey, what about me?!" Weren't they married where it mattered? At least for today? "Now that's grounds for divorce. I can't believe this is how I find out you've had your eyes elsewhere!" Poor Cella Archer. A loyal wife wronged by the love of her life - something like that. She was going to let go of the whole liking-his-studies thing now. He knew where she stood in this, but who was she to impose her beliefs on him, you know? Even when he was openly ~cheating on her with demand curves, she will support him. Duh. That's the way the birdie cookie crumbles.
Who was he to judge? Well. Some questions were best left unanswered. Cella had no qualms calling him out, but she was feeling extra gracious. Couldn't have people going around claiming he was handing out special favors, could he? No, no. Claude was an equal opportunist. Famously so.
He didn't mind having the pen on their financials. She brought other, equally important skills to their platonic common law relationship. As for negotiation, best of luck. He's a tough one to crack. Famously so (x2). "Oh, please. Broken heart my--" Assuming he needn't finish his thought, he stopped mid-sentence. "Coffee shop's right here, but if you need to leave me to tend to that broken heart of yours..." Quaffle's in your nest now, nerdie. He offered her one of his very best Claude smirks. And! For! Free! ur welcome. "Mmm," he thought about her words, and nodded slowly. "So conniving, Ascella Archer." Yeah, no. He had no intention to discontinue celebrating their life milestone anytime soon. "Speaking of which, I heard someone managed to snag the most difficult reservation in town and needs a plus one." They were known for their hospitality when it came to guests in a celebratory mood. Perhaps, in part, why Claude took the opportunity.
And again, all her pinching and displeased declarations did nothing but ignite laughter in one, young (and ever-so-handsome) Claude Botros-Giordano. Laughter, which he attempted to stopper as he offered his apologies. "Demand curves will only ever be a side chick." Emphasis on chick. Ha. Hilarious. She wasn't the only one who could pun. "No need to see green. You've always been the main event." Tsk, tsk. Who knew Cella Archer could be sooooooooooooo jealous. He'd make sure they had fertile pastures too. And lots of children to play around them. If that's what she wanted. There were very few things that Claude wouldn't do for her.
Ah, his hero.
