Unfortunately, they were now out of time.
"That will conclude today's practical," he announced. "Those of you who successfully retrieved tokens are to hold onto them. They will be honored exactly as promised at a later date and I strongly advise against attempting to duplicate them unless you are exceptionally interested in discovering how unpleasant anti-counterfeiting enchantments can become."
The warning landed dryly, almost conversationally, which somehow made it worse.
He then snapped two inked fingers toward a dented tin resting near the edge of his desk. The runes around his knuckles flashed a dim ember-red beneath the skin. At once, the lid sprang open and dozens of peppermint chocolate toads began hopping neatly through the air in orderly arcs toward each workstation, landing with soft taps besides in front of students.
"By this stage the potion's effects should largely have dissipated," he continued, long fingers skimming briefly over the rim of a his own cauldron to extinguish the flame beneath it without so much as a glance, "however peppermint assists in stabilizing lingering magical overstimulation and chocolate remains one of the more reliable restorative agents for both magical fatigue." His gaze swept once across the room. "In simpler terms: eat the toad before your limbs decide they still wish to behave like overcooked spaghetti. If you are allergic, please inform me and I will offer an alternative.”
He reached out absently and plucked a peppermint toad neatly from midair as it headed doors of the storage cupboard. His expression tightened by the barest degree as he redirected it back toward the students with a flick of his fingers. The last thing he needed was another one melting into the shelving again.
"Make sure you have laddled a sample of your potion into a phial and have labeled it with your name, year and house. Those should be deposited in the box on my desk before you leave the classroom. Also clean your stations thoroughly before leaving, it would be inconsiderate to leave such work to the house elves."
Then, with the smallest tilt of his head,
"You are dismissed." OOC: That concludes this Potions lesson! Thank you all so much for sticking with it through the site technical issues and for bringing so much creativity and energy to the thread
There will also be a bonus Potions extra credit thread posted within the next few days, so keep an eye out for that if you'd like to earn a little extra credit and additional Elasticity Elixir chaos
This thread will remain open for another 24 hours for any catch-up or decloning from the lesson you may wish to do. Thank you again!
