For my MerMay 'Atlantis' prompt, I reimagined Kida and Milo as merfolk, holding a shard of Atlantean crystal tied to the Heart of Atlantis—the powerful, crystal-based energy source that sustains their ancient civilization in Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Empire.

I’ll admit, I didn’t fully appreciate this film when it first came out (I was deep in my musical-only Disney era and anything without a full songbook got immediately snubbed ). But rewatching it more recently, I’m struck by how ahead of its time it was—much like Treasure Planet, it feels like a classic that just released in the wrong era.

Anyway. It's cute ― if you ignore how derpy Milo turned out, an oversight in not using a thinner copic liner ― and I am especially pleased with how Kida's hair turned out.
