Her mind was buzzing with possible scenarios. Maybe the house elves were shirking their chores. Maybe someone left them as a prank… though if that was the case, she had no idea what the joke was. Maybe someone was trying to sneak into the castle and planted the footprints to throw everyone off their trail.

As she moved in to get a closer look, she noticed the older girl. ”Do you think these footprints happened naturally, or did someone leave them on purpose?” she asked.
Alissa was drawn out of her private contemplation by the arrival of a younger Slytherin girl. She didn't know her, but she have her a friendly smile anyway as she joined her in looking at the footprints. And though Liss knew that she probably hadn't meant her question to be a philosophical one, she couldn't help but take it that way, at least at first. "If you think about it, all footprints happen naturally and on purpose." If 'on purpose' just meant walking somewhere, since footprints were a natural consequence. But that answer wasn't very helpful at all, and probably not what the girl was looking for.

"If you mean did someone intend to misdirect, I'm not sure. It does look like more than one person. Or perhaps one person with a lot of different shoes." She smiled a little to herself at that, imagining what that might have looked like. "Did you see anyone around before you came out here?"
