Looking towards the door as it opened, Charlie resisted the urge to raise an eyebrow at the antics of the woman who entered. Professor, whichever. If he had not already seen enough of how Fergersnout operated, he might have suspected that this was another case of someone noting his height, his cherubic features, and his status as a first year, and immediately deciding he was something more on par with a five- or six-year-old. Ultimately, however, he suspected this was just the way she happened to be.

Captain. Hm. Not what he was going for - had he been going for anything? hard to say - but Charlie went with it. He didn't bow back, but span the sword once more, and offered a grin. "Madam Historian."

Even with all he'd observed about the woman so far, Charlie could not honestly say that he expected her to initiate a fake muggle duel in the next instant... but then, he wasn't surprised either. He held up the sword, eyes darting briefly to the floor where the hem of the professor's robes reached the ground, and then around her immediate vicinity for any potential trip hazards. If this was where he now found himself - sword-fighting with a teacher, and not even with real weapons, but playing - he may as well have fun with it.

"I'm not much of a fencer," he said, so very humbly. He supposed it was true, anyway, though not for lack of trying to get into some kind of swordsmanship. More of an archer. His dad, for some weird reason, hadn't wanted to arm Charlie or his quadruplet siblings with swords of any kind, but had finally relented with the archery, probably after Mum told him off for saying 'no' to everything else. That wasn't to say Charlie hadn't done his fair share of wielding sticks, old piping, misplaced wands, or any other pseudo-swords throughout his childhood. In that regard, he knew how swordplay was done, and so he did it - though those days were, in his opinion, far behind him - leaping forward and brandishing the foam weapon in challenge.

Far behind him the days of childish games may be, but more important games lay before him, like, for example, finding favour with the powers that be.
