And to make his plan even better was the fact that Ezra was making his way down to the boathouse. Surely he would only enhance his stealth by entertaining the Hufflepuff instead of him. It was a perfect distraction.
But, of course, his foolproof plan did not consider the fact that Auntie Grace's son would call out to him and proceed to trip over himself. Everything next happened at lightning speed. He could hear Anna shouting to catch the younger Gryffindor. Regardless of the warning, the fifth year instinctively grabbed hold of Ezra to prevent him from face-planting onto the ground. Hiya, cuz.
Despite his efforts, the blond's own balance was thrown off by the momentum of the fourth year. Like a set of dominoes, one tumbling Gryffindor made the other follow suit. Seconds later Logan was on the ground, his back and his backside really feeling the impact of that fall. Even more so if Ezra happened to use him as a crash pad.
So much for making a great escape. Quote:

Still hurt, but he was probably a little better off than the older Gryffindor.
Thanks, cuz. "Ugh, sorry, mate," Ezra mumbled, moving to push himself off of Logan and to lay on his back for a few seconds. Whoa, was the world spinning, or was that just him?? If he were in a cartoon, he'd probably have stars spinning around his head right now.
Merlin, no wonder his mum always got after him about tying his shoes.
Somewhere between her squeak and the boys actually falling, Anna had bolted inside the boathouse proper (and totally forgotten how she had come to investigate the alleged haunting) and popped back out cradling an oar in her arms and looking very much like a house elf trying to carry something too large for its scrawny arms. When she saw the boys still on the dock, however, she realized that neither of them had fallen into the water and therefore did not need rescued. "Oh, PHEW, you both are okay," she smiled. "I'll just go put this back and -"
Remember how the oar had looked entirely too large? Yeah, about THAT...
Anna's enthusiastic spin was not the greatest of combos with the oar and her arms being exclusively preoccupied with it meant that her center of gravity and balance in general were even more on the side of complete klutz. Meaning...there was another squeak followed by a SPLASH as Anna went toppling over into the lake and only the oar floated up to the surface amongst the ripples.
