When living in his own little bubble amongst his siblings and parents, Eli wasn’t immune to behaving his age. Visiting the Dragon sanctuary with Great Uncle Nathan had been a blast and the eleven year olds face had been full of wonder and awe as he saw his favourite creatures in the flesh for the first time. It had been a valuable bonding experience for the brothers as well as an opportunity to socialise with a Greenwood who wasn’t exactly ‘in’ with the rest of the family.

Uncle Nathan thought too highly of those the rest of the family (well a lot of the family) considered far below them.

Elias idea of a great story wasn’t as ‘fantastical’ as his brothers, ironic considering they were Wizards and therefore their entire world was set in a fantasy land. “Do we have to look at brooms? Our Mum and Dad didn’t give us anywhere near enough money to afford one of those.” It was more of an excuse not to considering their parents had a little warped perception of money and likely have them more money than necessary. As for the Menagerie, other than the aforementioned Dragons, creatures were really not his ‘thing’ but he SUPPOSED he could put up with it for a second.

His eyes rolled as Ezra ordered him to stay put. “I’m not going anywhere, there’s too many children out there.” Over-enthusiastic children with no sense of personal space boundaries and who were incapable of controlling their excitement.

Speaking of..

Suddenly a peppy curly haired girl skipped past humming annoyingly to herself. She got a glare in response for daring to even encroach on his bubble.

Eli was intimidating with that look, even to his older brother who knew him like the back of his hand. Ezra just wished and WISHED that his brother could let go and lighten up—life would be so much easier for him. He cared about the boy deeply and did worry about him even when things were all of his own making. Ezra had adored the time they spent with their Uncle Nathan at the dragon sanctuary. Seeing Eli's face alight and full of wonder and they had BONDED. Over DRAGONS. It had been the best time of Ezra's life.

Ezra also loved spending time with Unky Nathan. He had taught him the piano from a young age and he loved to look at his collection of muggle artefacts. It was all so fascinating. Another world that the Greenwoods liked to shut themselves away from.

Yes, Elias, they HAD to look at brooms. “Yes but I have savings. I can use my own money to get one.” Ezra, despite his young age, was responsible in a lot of ways. You had to be growing up in that environment. And he made sure to save some of his pocket money every week. He'd even put aside that little bit of money Nathan had given them as a treat while they were away on holiday. “And don't you want a pet for a school? We're allowed to take one and mum said it would be okay.”

Ezra turned to leave and was almost swept over by a cloud of hair that whooshed passed him. He gave her a sweet smile. He looked back at Eli and tried to give him the 'Eli warning look', but failed and just looked bewildered. 'Don't start anything, you!'

He dashed out into the street to search for the shopping list. Right and left, high and low. ...And then remembered he was wearing his backpack. He opened it. And there, sitting right on the top, was the now creased parchment.

Oh Eli would be pleased!

He ran back into Flourish and Blotts brandishing it in his little hand like a trophy. “I FOUND IT!”

Tah dah!
