Suddenly, he felt his face heat. But luckily his face was turned at the time, "Well, I like you too.." Then it clicked, "Unless you're planning to take that head on a date after this," Without missing a beat.
While she explained her unfortunate selections, as polite as he could put it, he couldn't help feeling a bit proud. "Hmm, that's rough. Perhaps I should send them flowers since it led to us ending up here," Before adding with a casual shrug, "Assuming, I meet your standards enough to continue seeing you, of course," Though perhaps he should share his own circumstance, "I won't front, I like being used.. to a degree. The girls I've been interested in before I assumed liked me as much back... you could probably imagine the rest."
Cue, the split. Curtis would've winced but the next set of words out of her had him looking in wonderment. Was he surprised? Amused? Or some other feeling that can't be said aloud. "Impressive," The choice of words, of course.
"I'd like that," Curtis smiled, "I usually use the small gym at my apartment but it's close enough to the University for me to head there," He couldn't help but listen intently as she shared a personal thought regarding family. The 20-something-year-old did indeed take for granted the love his own family shared. He wanted to start something just like it. Was Curtis really maturing at last? The next direction of the conversation was one that brought his trademark smirk.
"I'll take my chances," Curtis never backed down from a serious bet, but what could he wager? Hmm... "On top of that plant, if you get both, I'll fix you the next two meals. One, one meal. None.. you fix me a meal," Cue his innocent smile. He loved raising the stakes.
