Rajesh chuckled softly at the toad’s antics, turning and watching as the creature hopped off to be closer to a fellow creature. “Well, he can’t exactly share flies with you,” he absently mused with a one-armed shrug. Humans and animals only had so much connection. Maybe Naveen was just finicky and wanted a change in companion or location. At least he wasn’t being shy and trying to hide or escape further than a few feet. No grand amphibian chase across the grounds outside the Reptile House.
“Huh…” he questioned, turning his attention back to Mouse and then realizing what she had said and how his words could have been taken. Oh Merlin, had he called her boring? And that was why her familiar was unhappy? “No…no… nothing of the sort,” the seventh year half-stammered, feeling just a touch awkward. “Though I suppose I do sometimes feel more connected to creatures.” It was something he figured he might have in common with the Disney characters his companion liked so much.
As for hanging out with owls and being in danger, he had to admit that it could be a valid concern. “Well he would be better with some of the smaller owls, like a burrowing one. Or maybe it would be best to test with one that is a friend’s familiar rather than one of the school owls.”
