Jude found that he liked to hear about his classmates’ favourite toys. It was definitely the moment to get an insight into those he didn’t know that well. Soon enough, they were moving on. It was just a matter of minutes before they found out exactly what the contents of those boxes were. He joined the line, collected the box handed to him then eagerly returned to his seat.

A purple pogo stick!

Neat!

"Bouncing Bulbs, Professor,’’ the seventh year replied, dead serious. Feirgrund hadn’t mentioned that the stick had to be equivalent to a piece of wizarding equipment so a form of vegetation should be acceptable as an answer. “They both bounce around though the Bulbs do so on their own.”
"That is true.." Quite a unique answer, Feirgrund nodded. He certainly hoped students wouldn't play with bouncing bulbs though.

"Is it like...a crow bar thing?" she suggested. But this lesson was about TOYS. Did muggle children play with crow bars? She was so confused.
"Not quite, though would make an interesting attempt if the bottom portion could fit into a slot," Attempting to pull could prove disastrous if anything.

She couldn’t help but to keep her ever so curious eyes on the box. So the first question she kind of didn’t even answer the question because she was so curious about the contents of the box. But once she could go get one of the boxes she went up and picked one out and took it back to her seat. She could not wait to open it.

A pogo stick!

How neat! And it was a pink one! Even better. ”In a way it’s like a broom, you have to keep your balance while you are on them.” Were they going to get to ride them later?

She'd had a huge collection of dolls that came in little cradles with fake bottles and fake pacifiers. She had even kept her favorite doll in her room as a keepsake, although she didn't play with it anymore.

She joined the already-forming line, and when it was her turn, she took a box then returned to her seat. A peek inside revealed a pogo stick. Oh, awesome! This class would turn out to be really fun! Unless, of course, they were just learning about the history of the pogo stick and not actually riding it. Seeing as she was already familiar with the pogo stick, she raised her hand to answer the second question. "I agree with Maisey. I'd compare it to a broom, because you have to stand on the pogo stick in a certain way in order to balance, and you can ride it from place to place," she said.
"That is true," Feirgrund nodded at both young ladies. They both made excellent points.

She was a bit disappointed to see other people got colors and she had a boring gray one. Woe was her, as her mood slightly decreased - but not by too much because it was still November.

Um... Pogo stick. Yeah, she didn't know that one or what it was similar too, but it certainly didn't LOOK like a broom to her. As for how it looked though, she did think it looked kind of similar to something she'd seen on the streets with Papa once, some construction gents were using it. "This is the thing that muggles like pound into the earth over and over again to break it, right?" The earth, not the toy. Though if this were a toy, she wondered why it was only marketed to adults.
"Well, yes, but no," Feirgrund smiled, "It is used against the ground but not for that purpose exactly," So half-right.

After falling in line and retrieving a box for herself, Yukie made her way back to her seat and wiggled off the lid of her box to reveal its contents. She knew it was a pogo stick, used for fun and games and stunts or whatever but she'd never really held one. It looked fun, though, but definitely more of younger Yukie's thing. It didn't mean she would pass on the chance to try bouncing with it now, if that was something they were going to do in class! Although there were things that did remind her of the pogo stick, like a bouncy castle and a trampoline, they weren't wizard-equivalent. The Hufflepuff definitely agreed with Jude and the younger Slytherin (Maisey). Bouncing bulbs and broomsticks definitely had similarities with the muggle pogo stick.

Yukie decided to sit this question out and listen to others. The indirect mention of the jackhammer made her smile a little though. That's very cute.
Though this student didn't respond, her full attention was noticeable and appreciated.

Snakes and ladders.. ah.. Feirgrund had a moment of misunderstanding. "Ah, yes, it can be a game in fact." Nodding.

Because that seems like it would be similar if it existed." He smirked a little as people mentioned crow bars and jackhammers. He wasn't laughing at them, he promised! And it wasn't at all obvious that he thought it was funny. It was just... he had to imagine a pogo stick-jackhammer combo now. And he sketched one into his lesson notes where he was writing people's answers.
"It is possible," Feirgrund nodded. That would definitely be an exciting activity.... Hmm... The gears could be turning.

She was too curious about the contents to concentrate on anything else! Fortunately she didn’t have to wait long to find out what was inside.

She retrieved a box from the front, thanking the professor when it was handed to her, and eagerly opened it the second she got back to her seat. Ooh, a pogo stick! A blue one. She would’ve preferred pink or purple, but blue was okay too. That color reminded her of the Beast! She had fond memories of playing on pogo sticks in primary school gym class. Those were fun… not as much fun as a doll, but still fun!

As she considered the question, she couldn't think of a single toy in the wizarding world that was even remotely similar to a pogo stick… except a toy broom. Both were sort of stick-shaped, and both sort of allowed the user to hover over the ground. But that answer had been said several times! So what else could she say? As she listened to her classmates, one answer (Brandon’s) gave her an idea. She’d been so focused on thinking of a toy that she didn’t consider spells that might be similar. Duh, Des! She didn’t have much experience with wizarding world toys, but spells were something she knew! It was just a matter of finding a way to word her answer that didn’t sound like she was showing off.

“I think Brandon’s right,” she said after raising her hand, giving her younger housemate an encouraging smile. “There’s a softening charm. It makes its target soft and spongey, so you can bounce if you jump on it.”
"Indeed, there are multiple spells in fact to have you take flight in many forms," Though which spell in fact, depended on the matter.

After the questions came the explanation, "A number of you were on the right track if not only correct," Feirgrund continued, "The pogo stick that we know of today originated among muggles in the early 20th century. It served as a potential transportation device with the user being able to hop along to their destination, but not quite as common as the Muggle Bicycle," Anyway, "Not long after the invention it became popular among the muggle youth with forming games over it and even serving as exercise equipment for adults due to its required strength and dexterity used to stay on over time," With that explanation gone out of the way, "It's one thing to hear about an invention, but who wants to give it a test drive?" A rhetorical question, since the students likely came for the action. "Let's head to the hallway to get a practice before we make a game out of it."

Feirgrund collected his round waiting on the other students to pile right outside the classroom door, "Alright, line up everyone but make sure to keep a good space between everyone to avoid bumping into the other." This had taken some time of re-organizing but eventually an even amount of space in the entire hall was spaced out. "Okay, not to worry I did charm the entire flooring here so if you happen to fall, you should be able to bounce back up to your feet again. These toy pogo sticks also won't go up too high as other versions. So for now let's practice staying on the pogo stick before we continue on with the game." Now how to stay on the pogo stick.

"First with your back against the wall, have the pogo stick resting above your belly button area here, " Feirgrund did so whilst holding onto the handles with both hands. "Then lean against it before stepping onto the foot rests immediately," First placing one foot before the other. "Once you're on the stick, you can hold one hand against the wall to help you turn your body with the pogo stick to the side and try to keep your balance as long as possible." Feirgrund added, "If you feel yourself slipping, that's okay, take your foot off to readjust and keep trying again until you're steady. If you're feeling confident, you can try to give it a jump," With that, the tall Feirgrund did a single little hop with the pogo stick, "But don't try it just yet if you're uncomfortable," Though the ground was safe to fall on, it could still get bumpy. "When you're ready... go!"

OOC: Alright, everyone! Now we can get to practicing with balancing on the pogo stick. Follow Feirgrund outside the hall before attempting to balance onto it with the help of the wall. You have around 48 hours from now to get acquainted with the pogo stick.
