The tips of his toes just barely touching the edge of the water, Atlas continued to inch his way into the water...one centimeter at a time...and had just held his breath in preparation of submerging his toes when a voice coming behind him made him nearly jump right out of his goosebumpy skin. And his shin was even more goosebumpy now too. He really needed to work on his alertness to his surroundings, honestly. For as much self preservation as he liked to pride himself on...he was pretty pathetic.

"What?" he heaved as he pivoted slightly to look behind him, his expression peak kid caught with their hand in the cookie jar. "Yeah. Sure. Everything is fine." Mostly. Nothing to be done about the sanitation levels of the lake. "I'm good. Heating Charm and all that." A lie, he didn't have one in place but that was whatever.

Oops. Had she startled him? Keigh couldn't be too sure if she had or not, given she couldn't see his face at all since Atlas had his back to her. When he did turn slightly to look over at her and he spoke, it seemed as though she had. Perhaps it was due to the cold however. Neither was much of a big deal honestly. Not unless he got upset with her from keeping him from diving into the lake.

"Okay then, if you're sure." Who was she to question what he was doing? "That's good cause you could catch a nasty chill when you emerge from the lake again." It had happened to her before. All the shivering and shaking wasn't pleasant on an already cool day.

Running her fingers through Kanga's soft fur, the blonde was about to turn her attention back to her reading when she decided one more question couldn't hurt, right? "Why are you going swimming now, anyhow?" Consider her curious.
