Right after he had asked Hardy to close her eyes, the commotion that was occurring on the other side of the door was heard. Leave it to Logan to be louder than he should have when telling everyone to get in their places. It took every fibre of his being to not groan and roll his eyes.
At least the surprise, which probably wasn't much of a surprise since Hady surely knew something was up, hadn't been ruined. That he had to remind himself as he felt his wife's hand join his and he saw that her eyes were closed. Cheekily, he took his hand off the doorknob and waved it in front of her face just to make sure. "Swear they're closed?" Of course they were. Hady was always one to play along with his antics. The trust was there.
Without another word, his hand returned to the doorknob. With a turn, it opened and he lead Hady into the next room where --
At this point, Logan had jumped off the stool and clambered over the sofa to get into the spot that he wanted to be standing: front and centre. He had, in the process, bumped into his sisters to wiggle his way between them. Muffles from the other side of the door hadn't been heard, though he did see the doorknob turning.
"SURPRISE!" he shouted at the top of his lungs as soon as his Mum and Dad had entered the room. From his pocket, he pulled out a streamer confetti cannon that Dad had snuck to them all the night before and gave it a twist. With a pop, confetti blew out and showered the room. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MUM!"
Was it time for him to do his drum solo that the had been working on for this particular day? Could they eat cake now?
