Something she couldn't put her finger on other. "Don't get too close to the water, kid" she warned a younger, most likely first-year student. In the meantime, she would stand safely near this tree... Yes, a reasonable distance from the water. The first-year boat ride to Hogwarts was the last time she HAD to be anywhere near it. Why did Hogwarts have this stupid Lake in the first place?! Did no one else see the DANGER it possessed?!

The Lake was, of course, fascinating. Joel wished he could hold his breath enough to explore what was inside. He knew about Merpeople of course, he thought it would be super cool to see one in person too. Maybe, if he stuck his head in, they would come to him? He got up, but before he could go any closer, someone called out to him. He turned around, looking confused.

"Why?" he called back. It was an older girl who... didn't go near the lake? But why?

"What's in there?"
