He had been at the Whomping Willow earlier, sneakily throwing rocks and small debris from the ground at it to elicit a reaction but that became boring after a couple of minutes. He'd try some other time.
A bit later, Sailor found himself by the lake, close to the forest so he wouldn't easily be spotted. If one sat still enough, nobody would notice. He stared at the lake for a while, hoping for a Giant Squid sighting. He'd wait for as long as he could, until it was dark of when he was hungry. Instead of the squid, however, the Ravenclaw spotted his dorm mate after some squinting and making sure it really was Phoenix from afar. Abandoning post, Sailor moved from his position, choosing the path where he'd least be seen, and made his way towards the other boy.
"The squid is probably not out today," Sailor said out of the blue, announcing his presence. He assumed that's why Phoenix was here, anyway. His eyes cast across the lake, Phoenix waited. And he waited some more. His eyes scanned for any movement further out, then drew nearer to see if there was any sense of movement closer to him. But there didn't seem to be anything going on. Not even so much as a ripple. This was honestly boring, even by Phoenix's measure, and he was about to give up or maybe go for a walk. But he knew sometimes patience and waiting was necessary for the best observation and experimentation.
He reached for his journal to record some facts, just as he heard a voice, causing him to turn. .....where did Sailor come from? Had it been that obvious what he was doing? Though to be fair, he wasn't JUST looking for the giant squid, but the confidence in his dormmate's words made Phoenix curious. "Oh? Why is it probable?"
