This one... he wasn't sure about it. He switched it between his hands three or four times, trying to figure out if that made the wand feel more or less right. Nobody seemed to mind that he was taking his time. He settled on the right hand.

He waved it, creating a beam of brilliant light. He looked at the shopkeeper again. Brandon wasn't sure if that meant the wand was his or not, but he did know that he felt a wave of strong reluctance at the thought of giving it back. His fingers tightened around it, holding more securely.

He'd created a light. That meant the wand was his now, right? Nobody was going to suddenly make him take a different one? Because this was the one he wanted. It was his. and he would cry if anyone tried to take it away because it was his it was his

It was doing the light thing again. "I need this one," he said firmly. "How much should I pay for it?"

When the boy looked at him, Zeke smiled in what he hoped was an encouraging sort of way. From what he could tell, the beam of light had indicated a match, but still, if the individual still felt as though something wasn't quite right...

And then he grinned - the sudden firmness to the boy's voice, the confidence that this wand was the one, was the clearest sign. "Wonderful," he said, most sincerely, before adding, "Well done."

He would, of course, get to the price in due course, but first Zeke went through some of the finer details of the match. "This wand is willow, twirly, and twelve-and-a-quarter inches in length. The core is unicorn hair." And, though Zeke was loath to make assumptions or judgements on face value, he sensed that it was a very good match, if he did say so himself. Which... he did. "Willow is well-suited to healing spells - and is well known for its suitability for advanced non-verbal magic. Something to keep in mind for when you start learning such magic later in your schooling." Of course, it did also depend on the individual performing the spells too, the work they put into it, and their natural aptitude. "An excellent wand for water elemental spells too, for that matter. The core makes for a very faithful wand, very consistent and reliable. Again excellent for healing spells, and for charms and transfigurations."

Specifications over, Zeke moved towards his cash register and began ringing the wand up. "By itself, the wand is 11 galleons, plus anything else you might like to go with it."

Taking it waving it a burst of sparkles came out of if making her squeal and giggle happily before looking at him. " That's good right? It means the wand is for me right? Cause it feels perfect in my hand nice and warm too."

Biting her lip she looked down at the wand in her hands, it wasn't spluttering or doing anything bad. She felt like it was meant for her, she loved how it felt. She was muggleborn but she knew when things felt right.

Well now, would you look at that. "Yes, that's very good indeed," Zeke said reassuringly, with a nod of the head. Yes, they really did seem to be ticking all the boxes. "I can say with great confidence that this wand has chosen you. Congratulations."

And, as far as he was concerned, it really was something to celebrate. Nothing quite like the feeling of matching with one's first - and often their only - wand. "Now then, your new wand is nine and three-quarter inches of robust beech, with a jobberknoll feather at its core. Beech encourages learning and knowledge, and, should you ever wish to pursue the subject, you will find that rune magic will come easy to you. Really a very charming wood; capable of wonderful artistry and subtlety in the magic it produces." Whether that was anything to do with the fact that beech owners often possessed creative souls was a matter up for debate, but it was true that that was also the case. "Jobberknoll feathers make wands that are excellent for use in brewing potions and in charms, and which tend to choose individuals with a good memory or intellect."

That was plenty to be getting on with for now. Zeke smiled warmly, and stepped over to his cash register to start ringing up the wand. "The wand will be 10 galleons, plus anything else you might like today." He gestured towards the board upon which were listed the various products they sold here in the shop.

“I’d like to try another please,” she admitted, carefully handing back the offensive fire-starter to return to its box. Dy might have lucked out on her second choice, but maybe just maybe for her the third time would be the charm. It would feel better than just settling on a possible match…right?

"Oh, no need to apologise," Zeke reassured the girl, opting to ignore the slightly elevated heart rate that often came with a scare like fire in the shop. "No harm done. We get all kinds happening in here, after all." Paid to be on ones toes, as it were.

He nodded then, and picked up the third option. "I think that's very wise," he said, opening up the box and offering the contents of that one now. "Here we are then. Let's see if this isn't the one."

When it came to herself, it seemed as though she had struck gold {figuratively speaking, of course} on only her second attempt. How lucky! Gone was all the uncommon hint of the distress Dy had been feeling minutes ago. It was replaced by pure excitement and another toothy grin. “Thanks a whole lot, Mister!’’ Here was her very first {and hopefully only} wand. With abnormal and rapt attention, each of the shopkeeper’s words were mentally noted. Why did it sound as though this was exactly the type of wand one should have, one that would remind them that they could do anything they set their mind to? Creature magic! The girl was delighted. This was perfect for her since lived among creatures all her life! Already she was in love with this wand; every aspect of it was wonderful! “I think I’ll be very happy with this wand.” There were nods on her part to support this. Oh, what else did she want? “A satin hip holster and a wand polish, please.” Clearly she cared very little about spending her fathers’ money.

Nads… did not have any luck with that wand. Dy looked around in alarm and out-of-the-ordinary concern as flames made a sudden appearance. “Are you okay?” Papa Benny wasn’t panicking, right? He needn’t because Nads was already off to try another wand. “Fingers crossed for better luck this time!’’ Cue her waving her right hand around where four of her five fingers were crossed.

"I'm very glad to hear it. I hope you will be," Zeke said, nodding approvingly. Always good to hear his-... uh... his customers' wands being respected, and welcomed warmly by their new owners.

He retrieved the other items that the customer had requested, and rang those up along with the wand. "Right then, all told that's 19 galleons 8 sickles, please."

It didn't feel quite...right as she held it. Then again, she'd never held a REAL wand before. Toy wands, sure...

She took a deep breath and waved it, and when she did so, one of the boxes on the nearby counter SHOT off the counter and into the opposite wall, hitting the floor loudly as Nancy quickly placed the wand back on the counter like it was made of lava. That was gonna be a HARD pass from her. "No, that's not it," she said softly. Hopefully there wasn't anything expensive or fragile in that box....

Zeke could not help it. When the box hurtled itself from the counter into the wall, he flinched like it caused him physical pain. Maybe it did. Spiritually. Spiritually physical pain. It was a thing.

Beyond that, however, he maintained his composure - had had a lot of practice in doing so, in fact, being in this line of work. Zeke was used to mess (though he didn't like it) and potential damages (though he went through the however-many stages of grief over it) whenever wands were being tested in his shop, and as far as he was concerned, part of the job was to take it in his stride and ensure the customer remained at ease. Most of them being... well... kids.

"No, I think you're quite right," he said in agreement, drawing his own wand and wordlessly summoning the box back from the floor, and setting it aside so he could check on its contents later. "Not to worry, though. Let's try another, shall we?" He considered their next options thoughtfully, then picked up a second box, and again presented its contents to the girl. "Perhaps this one..."

He took a step back. With the same aggressive attitude Ewy swung his arm though in a slightly different motion than before. As his wand arm crossed over his chest a slimy purple substance formed out of midair and then shot across the store at probably was definitely light speed for sure until it splattered against the window of the shop. He looked at it in shock, and then awe as he chuckled similarly to how he had been tickled only a moment ago. "Ew...that's gross!" He said gleefully. As he looked at the wand with a nod. He chuckled again because Ew....Ewy...that was him.

These kids... these kids did their best to wound him sometimes, didn't they? Zeke's beautiful windows...

Okay, so he was being a little dramatic, but he had only just cleaned them this morning. On the other hand, it wasn't as though he disliked the task.

Looking from the purple goop to the young boy, Zeke nodded to himself as well, and attempted to gauge his expression. "Am I right in thinking that this wand feels like the one?" He did not believe he was mistaken, and in fact was already half-turned towards his cash register to start ringing things up.

But he just wanted to make sure.

He was trying to remember who the shopkeeper was back than. he old. At least mum was behaving. She looked around before nudging Giselle

"Look at this place"

Meaning look at all the wands and one of them will be hers and one will be Giselle's. She gave Xander a look hoping he wasn't too distracted. Seems there was a tiny bit of a wait before it was her turn to go in front of the tape. Shame she didnt bring a book. Would have been perfect. When it was finally her turn she made her way in front of the measuring tape with her arms spread out.

"Please be gentle"

she had no idea if it could listen or if it even worked that way. didnt with the things at home. But there was always a chance.

Zeke had heard the instruction to his tape measure from the other side of the shop, where he was finishing up with another customer. Once upon a time, he might have made sure to keep an eye out, just to make extra sure the tape measure was, in fact, behaving - though even back then it only ever seemed to want to strangle Zeke rather than his customers, which was... something of a plus - but by now he was confident in letting it do its thing.

Once he was done, he turned his attention to the next customer... only to very quickly realised she was only the first in a large party. Well... best to fit all three at once, in that case. Zeke waited to retrieve the first set of measurements, collected wand boxes accordingly, then did the same again, and a third time, and only then did he approach.

"Well hello there," he said, rather genially, setting all the boxes down. He didn't like to assume, but he suspected the three were related somehow, going by resemblance. If those adults nearby were the parents to all three then... yeesh. This was a lot of galleons to drop in one go. "Ready to find your wand? Go on ahead and give this a wave, and tell me if it feels right."

As he spoke, he unboxed the first option, and presented the wand inside.

So long had he waited for this moment. So, so long and now it was finally here. Whatever was said between his parents of siblings as they all entered the shop went straight over this kids head. The only things Xander was paying any attention to was the amount of wands that were stacked around all over the shop and the line of kids ahead of them. His gaze kept bouncing from left to right, up and down and then behind him to back in front of him. One of those boxes held HIS WAND! Which one though?

It was with one of these many glances around that he actually did catch that look from Phoebe. The slightest grin was given to her before he was right back to checking everything else out around him. The reaction of some of the kids when they first held their wand was kinda funny. That held his attention for a little. At least until it was Phoebe's turn to deal with the measuring tape. Then he focused solely on that and nothing else. Yeah, he was going to be protective even when dealing with tape.

It didn't seem all that bad and before he knew it, the tape was right in front of his face causing him to blink at it. Erm, well alright then. Hello, to you too. Standing as still as he could, which was kinda easy as it didn't take all that long, he let the measuring tape do it's thing. Arm length, his head, finger, an.. eyebrow? Strange but whatever made the tape move alone onto Giselle made him happy.

Was it time to get his wand now?

... and then he turned to the second child in the group. "Now your turn, young sir."

Zeke turned back to where he'd stacked the wand boxes on the counter, and considered them for a moment, before pulling out the middle box from the middle stack, opening it up, and presenting the wand inside to the boy.

"Give this a wave, and we'll see what it does. Let me know if it feels like the one, or if we ought to try another."

Plenty of options, after all.

She only felt sad for Rora and Damien since they couldn't watch; the twins being watched by Aunt Hady while mum and dad were with them here. She loved her ickle siblings, but this was way more important than that. She'd even agreed to let Mysaria stay home, so of course the twins being elsewhere was also okay.

She knew her siblings had been looking forward to getting their wands too. It was only for that that she had given a pointed look in the direction of the kids in line ahead of them, before she had heard her sister's comment (and felt the nudge). "I am. Do you think we ought to ask for special consideration?" , she responded in a stage whisper that might've been a bit louder than it ought. Oops. Sorry, not sorry. Mum would've gotten it for them.

And then it was their turn, and she stepped aside as the tape first went to Phoebe and then to Xander, sighing only a little at being relegated to last. It just meant she was the best.

And she gracefully pirouetted as the tape had begun measuring her, pretending it was a strange pas de deux partner. Or maybe measuring her for a new costume. Maybe that was a better comparison, although why did it need to know the length of the space between her eyes?

... and now the third in their party.

(And, for the record, no special consideration, alas. Only two customers could receive that, and they'd both been fitted with wands a year ago.)

"And last, but by no means least," Zeke said, by way of greeting, smiling at the girl and then turning to his third small stack of wand options. This time he retrieved the one from the bottom, opened it up, and presented the wand inside to the girl. "Have at it. Give it a wave, and we'll see what's what."

She didn't know how to duel, for obvious reasons, but she thought she would make an excellent revolutionary someday. If there was something to revolt against. She was trying her best to make mental notes of everything the wan man was saying, but he was saying so much! She still had all her other shopping to do, so she hoped she could remember it when she got home.

But she'd just gotten her first wand, and it was beautiful. Prettier than her brother's or sisters' wands, in her opinion. "Thank you, sir, I love it so much," she said when he'd paused.

Oh, and for the price. Sophia's parents had told her, just the wand, so she counted out her ten galleons. "Just the wand, please," she said, polite as could be. Her very own, pretty, dependable wand!!!!! Her granddad would be so proud.

"You're quite welcome," Zeke replied, with another beaming smile. The work in itself was thanks enough, but he appreciated the gratitude all the same. "Just the wand it is," he added, scooping up the galleons and adding them to the cash register. "You're all set, then. Best of luck with your wand."

Not that luck was likely to come into it. The two had found each other, and would soon become highly attuned to each other, with time and work. But still. Best of luck all the same.
