Brody was… coping without having Gabriel around. He missed his boyfriend a great deal but Brody had been spending an increased amount of time with Gabriel’s mother and sister. This actually helped him and he supposed it worked the other way around too: he was helping Mama Melo and Isabelle. The Consulate got onto the elevator, a file held open in his hands because he had chosen to get some work done on the go. Recognising Kendra he gave her a smile in greeting. These days he hardly spoke; it was only done when necessary. Once in the lift, his head once again bent over the file but the words and images on the pages seem to be a blur.
He wished desperately that he knew that Gabe was okay and not for the first time, he silently cursed at the Merpeople. Not for the first time Brody also wished he had gone against his instinct of maintaining diplomacy and Gabe’s warning of doing anything rash to just fight that merguard.
