"Oh, the experiments are going fine, just fine," murmured Jane as she also looked over Lauren's boils over Adam's arms. She thought she probably also had a boil cure around somewhere, perhaps on her, as she was used to carrying around such things from her term as a governess. But Lauren seemed to particularly want Adam's help, and he seemed eager to give it, so she hesitated to interfere--unless the boils were truly serious. "The experiment reached the stage where it could not be continued in the Love Chamber--the vibrations would hinder it, you see--and so I've been working in the Death Chamber. But one can't stay there too long at a time, so I've come here for a break and some coffee." |
