It wouldn't be a perfect Pompion Potion, because of how the pumpkin would interact with the other ingredients and how it was technically an ingredient itself, but what would happen? Success in the activity didn't matter, because he much preferred to answer his own questions, especially as they already knew what the regular potion did.

Milo's main concern was that the pumpkin would catch fire before he could find out anything, but he headed that off by wiping the tray clean and setting it on the cauldron stand, and then the pumpkin on top of that. He fired up the burner below it just slightly above medium to compensate for the buffer; the heat would touch it, but the flame wouldn't. He returned the cups of seedless pumpkin entrails to the bashed up pumpkin cauldron, and added a cup of water too.
