Oh, a basilisk! That pretty much clinched it for Celyn. She was sure she knew who that founder was even as Mercer was grabbing her hand to pull her along to the next one before the portrait could answer her own question. She certainly didn't mind. Mercer was a cutie pie and she could just be led around helping him with his questions.
She did hear something about a secret chamber as they made their way towards the third portrait which just confirmed that the second one must be Salazar Slytherin. And oh! How sweet, Mercer was calling her beautiful. She smiled softly, but pretended not to hear since he was whispering it to the portrait, though she gave Cooper an amused little glance.
Truly, she only needed to hear the portrait's voice to narrow down who it might be. They already had Ravenclaw and Slytherin, so even if the answer about pizza wasn't particularly revealing, since it was a feminine voice, she deducted that it was Helga Hufflepuff. And just in time for the activity to come to an end. Even if they hadn't gotten to the fourth portrait, it was easy enough to figure that it must be Godric Gryffindor.
"Yes," she agreed with a soft chuckle as Cooper voiced the same thought to her. She finished up her notes - A. Ravenclaw, B. Slytherin, C. Hufflepuff, D. Gryffindor - then looked back up at Cooper. He... looked a little zoned out. She watched him for a moment more, then smiled again when he turned his attention back to her. Obviously the two of them plus Mercer would be a group. She'd even suggest Milo to join them too, but.. where had he run off to? Hopefully he didn't leave class.
"Oh I think Branxburry sounds like a great name for our school!" Celyn told Mercer encouragingly. She really did think so too. It was a nice mashup of their names, but also had a certain ring to it as well. "That could be your founder portrait," she added, grinning down at his little drawing. How cute.
She paused a moment to think about the assignment. "Do you ever think," she began, mostly asking Cooper, but also addressing Mercer, "that rigid house systems do more harm than good? Like maybe it creates division among students. And tells them that certain qualities are better than others." It was just musing aloud. She'd still happily do the assignment, but it was a thing that she'd considered.
