Ore-son Welles in hand, unearthed once again from the tin Atlas kept the pet rock in and had done so all of first year to defy and hide from The Hoods™ and subsequently forgotten about and remembered and then forgotten again only to be remembered again, Atlas was on his way down to the lake to wash him off when he came upon a group of his peers all huddled around...something. It was a little hard to see because of the glare coming off the water.

But then there was no glare, only tentacles, and the SQUEAL that was drawn out of the Gryffindor's mouth was almost so shrill it was for dog's ears only. Unfortunately for everyone else, however, it was still very much within the human ear's range.

"BARTHOLOMEW HENRY! BARTHOLOMEW HENRY! BARTHOLOMEW HENRY! BARTHOLOMEW HENRY! BARTHOLOMEW HENRY! BARTHOLOMEW HENRY! BARTHOLOMEW HENRY! BARTHOLOMEW HENRY! BARTHOLOMEW HENRY!" the third year chanted as he marched ~~and pushed a little~~ his way over to the giant squid he had heard SO much about from his mum and dad, entirely forgetting how uncool it was that he had a rock with googly eyes glued on to it in his hand. He overheard some of the conversation prior to his arrival, but he did not exactly acknowledge all of it before asserting his presence.

"Is it true that Godric Gryffindor was an animagus who took on the shape of a giant squid and you are from the offspring of said squid family?" Just something he had seen carved into the underside of a study table in the common room. Along with instructions to a game that he and Remy enjoyed playing together now that they had perfected enchanting pillows to act as their lava monsters. And then there was some talk about a message being passed on...so Atlas pulled out a bit of parchment from his pocket (and shoved his pet rock INTO the pocket once he remembered he had it and hoped no one else had seen it) and a pencil he had whittled down to practically nothing. For note taking.

Had to make sure he had the answer to the animagus question AND whatever this message was down pact, after all.
