He handed over Brody's placard and then stared down at his as if trying to commit the information to memory. Was it the fact that they were some of the first people here that was making him feel weird? Or Brody? For some reason, Brody always made Kalen feel like an inept bumbling babbling fool. It was probably because Brody was so proper and mater-of-fact compared to himself. "I think we are this way," he pointed over his shoulder with a thumb and then turned leading the way to their table.
Colour Brody Hawthorne surprised and flattered when Kalen asked him to be his date plus one to this event. This meant that the entire, small Hawthorne family had been invited to the event. Brody was outfitted in an entirely black suit, complete with a matching tie. Looking over Kalen, he decided that his date looked so devilishly handsome. Had he known about Kalen’s plans for him to meet his girlfriend, he’d already have been completely uninterested.
Smirking, since he had given this bit of eye candy another head to toe glance, Brody actually turned his attention to the guests milling around so far. He spotted his uncle and Level Seven’s Head. He wouldn’t worry about going to say hi right now. Peggy probably was tired of seeing him around as he was always making trips to that department in his free time.
Their table? Brody quickly looked over to where Kalen was indicating, glanced at his own card then nodded. “Not babbling too much tonight. You okay?” he asked, purposely brushing his hand against one of Kalen’s. |
