Now, Charles knew he was more than a bit rusty when it came to giving and writing speeches...but surely it was not so bad as to warrant the reactions he was receiving now. Looks of utter horror and disgust spread across the faces gathered in the Atrium. It was difficult to hear, and not because of his old age, the various mumblings among the crowd as well. Though it took very little time to sort out that something was wrong, very wrong. It was actually the little gem of a soul in his arms, Elio, that alerted the Minister of where the unrest was localized and he immediately turned his head to see the fountain filled with crimson liquid. Liquid that reminded him awfully of...something else. His focus waxed and waned a bit, the curse of memory clouding his vision temporarily until dear sweet Genevieve slid up beside him offering her counsel.

"Yes...yes of course," he nodded while covering Elio's eyes entirely too late, though he tried to play it off as a playful sort of nose honk. Anything to try and not cause the same distress in the young child that was currently saturating the Atrium. Charles did loathe this necessary security measure, the constant ushering him away from this and that. Did he understand why it was required? Of course he did, but it made him feel disconnected from his people and restricted. "I'll be just a moment."

As swiftly as his limbs could manage, Charles made his way back over to Kaiser and Candela so he could return their child to them. A tender kiss was left on those adorable curls of the three-year-old's and fleeting words about how it would be a raincheck on that mug accompanied by the firm suggestion they head home early. He attempted to make eye contact with his department heads, namely Jake and Raini who would be the ones to take the reigns in this situation. It seemed that their teams were well trained as well as they easily fell in stride with emergency protocol. His reluctance to flee was obviously, but he had to trust the team to remember the emergency training and especially he had to trust Genevieve. If for no other reason than he would like to avoid her stink eye again.

Buttoning and unbuttoning his vest to occupy his hands, he returned to Genevieve's side. "Citizens, listen to the instructions of Magical Law Enforcement and especially the guidance from Upstead and Youngbird...and do not approach the fountain unless instructed to. We will get to the bottom of this situation." It felt weak, but it was the least he could do before Genevieve ushered him away and back to his office where they could speculate about what had just happened.

Certainly not the way he had hoped to kick off his triumphant return as Minister for Magic.
