After all that had happened on her very first day on the job last year at the ministry and the all out war that had followed, Penelope was highly skeptical that this event would be enjoyable. Hopefully with the Neo-Alliance taken down there at least wouldn’t be name tags displaying her status as a half-blood and references to a very backwards ideology. Even so, people were usually expected to be social at these types of events and she would be more than happy to just grab a quick cup of tea along with some fruit and yogurt and head into her quiet corner of the office to jump right into her research. She was currently learning about some very interesting ancient magic techniques that did not require the use of a wand, and that was surely far more interesting than anything at this event. Were there name tags here? Her face/name recognition was absolutely awful and it was always so awkward when vague acquaintances approached her and remembered her name while she had absolutely no idea who they were. The best strategy, therefore, was to find someone who she knew and hang around with them. With any luck anyone else who joined the conversation would be introduced to her. Penelope looked around the room at what was on offer. She wasn’t much of a heavy breakfast person so she would pass on the waffles and pancakes. Spotting her department head at the smoothie station, she headed over to greet him. ”Good morning, Raini.” Penelope grabbed herself a bowl of strawberries and blueberries. Did the fruit have to be smoothie-d or could she just take a fruit bowl?
