The Room of Requirement was not Nem's favourite place in the castle, at least not for personal endeavours - the kind of projects and pursuits they'd rather keep away from prying eyes. They had several theories about this place - some of them completely fabricated for a little fun back in the day - and most of them came back to the fact that it was impossible to be sure of its allegiance, because it was so fickle.

The Room served anyone who happened to come by it, and though Nem could think of several instructions to stop their chosen set-up from being found, they just didn't trust that it would hold to them. Could even be some sort of record kept, like a magical history, accessible to whoever wanted to know what the Room had been, if they had the authority or even just the skill to ask for it. It would be pure stupidity to think that the Headsman had no way of knowing about this Room or what went on in it; even if he didn't yet know it, there was no doubt some way of figuring it out.

So Nem only used the place for activities that weren't clandestine in nature, even if they preferred not to be interrupted. Tutoring sessions with Limpet fell into that category.

They'd arrived much earlier than they were due to meet Limpet, and asked the room for the usual: a simple, comfortable room fit for practicing spells. As ever, it provided a space that seemed more office or living room than classroom, with chairs and armchairs, cushions, a rug spread out on the floor, and shelves on the walls, some of which held books, some of which were empty, ready to provide what might be requested later.

Nem had brought a book of their own, and was sitting sideways in an armchair, long legs dangling over one arm as they perused the metallurgy text. As they turned a page, they glanced at their stolen watch. Still a few minutes yet.
