He felt there was more pressure with Jake for whatever reason. Maybe because work felt more personal now. But ultimately, Tomasz was not sure.

What he was sure of, however, was the he would catch this lift before it left without him. Sometimes they were not so reliable and if he wanted to make it to level 2 anytime soon, he would need to catch this one now. As he saw the doors beginning to close, he sped up. "Is there room?" he managed to call out breathlessly, throwing his arm in the way of the doors to keep them from closing all the way. Then, when they opened up to reveal Gabriel inside, Tomasz gave him a polite nod in greeting. "Yyy, hello."

It was a little embarrassing to see his colleague after having clearly made a run for the lift, but Tomasz did not show the embarrassment in his features. He did, however, wait for the go-ahead to join his colleague inside. Just to be polite.
