Turned out, moving from his last position, so active and heavy on work out in the field, to head of the department, was not the dreaded lull in activity Jake had half-expected it to be. Actually, he was pretty sure he hadn't stopped since his promotion, and though that could have had a lot to do with the madness of dealing with the Neo-Alliance aftermath, he also knew this was not a job which would allow for a lot of relaxing even when (if) things were ever relatively peaceful. And that was perfect. It was good to keep busy, especially now, and he felt revitalised in a way that only a big change could have brought about in him.
Just a shame about the near constant paperwork. Administration. Who knew.
He'd just been by the Improper Use of Magic Office - part of his quest to update himself on all areas of the department as quickly as possible - but made it back to his office in good time. Very handy, by the way, having an office here in the ministry.
"Ferguson," Jake greeted the young man with a small smile as he stopped by the door and pushed inside, leading the way and holding the door open by his fingertips for the lad. "Come in and take a seat." At the desk or on the sofa, or he could stay on his feet, it didn't really matter; Ferguson could pick the vibe.
