Penelope had just been trying to take her lunch break when she heard the news about the Neo-Alliance infiltrators being uncovered, her boss among them. Wow. It was fairly obvious that the Neo-Alliance had taken root in the ministry and infiltrated it to the highest degree, but really, Sian? Penelope really hadn’t pegged her boss as an evil mastermind. Sure, there were some things she didn’t like about her boss like Sian’s gaudy office decorations, but this was on a whole other level of bad. Did Sian know that word was out about the Neo-Alliance? If not, surely it would not take long for Sian to hear and try to escape. Penelope was very much panicking because she knew her boss couldn’t be far, and apprehending people was not in her job description. She was a researcher, not an auror. The biggest risks she had thought she would encounter in this job were her own experiments with spells. Experimental spells could backfire, but they didn’t fight back to cause intentional harm. Merlin, she was NOT paid enough for this. She had taken this job at the ministry to get her research funded and because she hadn’t found any open professorships at wizarding universities, not to save the world. If she survived this, she was absolutely going to ask for a raise, or at the very least, a bonus.

Now that was done, and she had the opportunity to stretch her legs, she was strolling around the Level Three work areas with some PEP in her STEP, and another coffee in hand, even more weighed down with sugar than the last one.

Everyone was doing what they should be doing, hmMmMM?
Making her way back from the break room as silently as possible with her wand drawn, Penelope cautiously poked her head around the corner to see if the work area was clear. Nope. Boss lady was here. However, Sian was holding a coffee so maybe she would be slow to react. Raising her wand and aiming it at Sian, Penelope cast a nonverbal Petrificus Totalus, followed by a non-verbal Incarcerous in case the first spell missed its mark. Quickly, she ducked back around the corner in case any spells came flying back at her. Why oh why was she the one who had to do this? Hopefully some reinforcements would come soon. While she was capable of performing powerful advanced spells, she was rather out of practice in dueling.
