Still, he wanted to be prepared (and to give Ferguson a little back up should he need it) in case he or worse, his husband were called down there for investigation. So far, Sachin had managed to keep a low profile and for that, Conley was sincerely grateful.

He was paying more attention to the correspondence he was reading then to where he was going. It seemed things were not going any better in France than here in the UK and that was alarming. The French Ambassador, Valentin Roux, had been spending most of his time in Paris instead of in London and this correspondence had been sent to his home and not the ministry. Despite that, Conley hadn’t had time to read it that morning, not with getting Radhika ready to go to her grandparents. He sometimes missed dropping her off at the daycare downstairs, but there was no way he as trusting the Ministry with his possibly muggle-daughter.

Like Roux, he hadn’t seen much of the ambassadors that usually spent a good deal of time operating inside of the Ministry. So it was perhaps a good thing that Conley had managed to slip a few of the longer-serving and Conley-trusted ambassadors pins before they were recalled to the respective countries. If action was needed, then at least a few people in varying countries would be ready to answer the call. He stepped into the Mid-level corridor from the stairs, since Conley didn’t take the Lifts if he could manage it (he still didn’t trust them after they had trapped his husband and Roux together) as he rolled up the parchment in his hands.

Inhaling a breath in, Lucille spotted Conley. "Hello," she greeted him rather cooly. After all, he was of mixed blood hence her tone.

Because not everyone was drinking the Kool-Aid here. Right?

Funny, usually Conley was the paranoid one and now he was busy trying to justify people’s actions. He slipped the rolled up piece of parchment into his inner jacket pocket as he fixed one of his more chipper smiles to his face. ”Afternoon,” he replied, in chipper manner as if he hadn’t heard the tone. ”Busy day?” Might as well ask and get this over with right? If she was going to snub him for his nametag, then so be it. She could be on her way and he could go on his.

Oh how he longed for the days people when people didn’t realize who he was.

Restless.

That was the only word to describe how Sachin felt today. He couldn’t quite understand why today of all days he felt intensely so. There was a quick stop he needed to make in India but he wanted to see Conley before he left. Maybe it was him being sentimental but he went with his gut feelings and headed over to the Ministry.

At least their daughter was in the safety of her grandparents’ company. That was one less worry for him. These were his thoughts as he stepped off the lift, his feet taking him to the appropriate corridor. Speaking of the husband… Sachin recognised the form of Conley immediately. The woman was also familiar though she wasn’t on a buddy-buddy level with her.

“Excuse me,’’ the Ambassador told the duo politely by means of interruption. “Good afternoon.’’ he added to the woman. “Hi, Con,’’ Conley might be surprised to see him there right now. And more surprising was Sachin saying Conley's nickname when Sachin usually used the man's full first name while at the Ministry in an effort to keep things somewhat professional in the setting.
