Andrei found his attention horribly divided between wanting to protect the dragons and wanting to keep all human life in the area safe as well. In each young face he saw his niece and nephews, which only made the Romanian yearn for some confirmation that they were okay. But now was not the time for his own personal agenda, however painful that was, and his instincts had him focusing on the kids. Hopefully the rest of his unit from the Ministry could handle the dragons...though out of the corner of his eye he did spot a few of them flying away from the sanctuary and he cursed harshly under his breath in his native tongue.

Somewhere between the screams and howls from human and beast alike, Andrei was able to refocus on the group of kids he had been addressing. "Keep moving, I'll cover you!" he barked, though not unkindly. At least the dragon was off chasing the fire chickens and that meant they were somewhere safe as well. He had turned his head away from the fray for only a few blinks, but it was enough for the one hooded figure to hurtle yet another spell at him. The slashing moment paired with the color flame that came towards him had his gut lurched horrible and it was only at the last second that he managed to retrieve his wand and redirect the spell towards the ground just to his right. Or so he thought. His attention divided had cost him greatly and while he had managed to prevent the spell from striking him square in the chest, the spell still managed to strike his knee before exploding an impressive hole in the ground. Crumbling to the ground on one knee, Andrei grit his teeth and attempted to deflect a few other spells tossed towards this particular group of kids...though not in time enough to prevent one from striking the one girl. Thankfully one of her peers was right there to scoop her up. "K-Keep...going..." he grit out, a shield charm in palce around himself for the moment, while he did a head count...and there was one less than when he had arrived.

Grunting and curling his fingers to once again charm the air wandlessly, his dark brown eyes darted around trying to find the missing kid. Poor thing had probably run off scared and was hiding somewhere. Andrei could hardly blame them, what with dragons and then these hooded figured casting spelled that aimed to kill. It left the worst kind of unsettling feeling in his stomach and adrenaline alone had him pushing through the excruciating pain in his leg. He still had an arm that had been struck by something as well and was worthless. Four limbs, two mobile. He had been through worse.

"There is a student from this group missing!" he called out to the dragonologist that had just been embracing one of the students, which only made that yearning to find his own niece and nephews more poignant.
