| anyone feel free to grab her Baguette | there is no D in my name | TRAITORclaw | Queenie of Narnia Though Penelope had taken a few days off over the holidays, she had still taken several of her usual patrol shifts. They had kept her away from the Ministry itself, which was fine since the desk parts of the job were always her least favorite anyway. There was also the sudden Ministry renovations, but she didn't think much of it at the time.
Now though...
Her eyes were instantly drawn to the large and imposing new statue where the fountain had once stood. The Deathly Hallows symbol. The words engraved below.
She pulled her focus away from it, quickly scanning the elegant surroundings further. The bags were the next major thing to catch her attention. Groups of them were...oddly different in quality. Why?
A closer inspection gave her an answer. She found the bag that was labeled as hers, picked up the name tag...
Penelope Grimm. Auror. Half-blood.
This new addition...struck a nerve. Something that should have been long buried. Memories that she'd thought wouldn't affect her anymore, that she'd thought she had moved on from.
But with these bold changes to the Ministry right in front of her, well...puzzle pieces were quickly slipping into place in her mind.
She would have liked to think she was overthinking this. That maybe, somehow, the conclusions she was drawing were an overreaction. That perhaps there was a less nefarious reason to add her "blood status" to a name tag.
Not very likely though. "What is this." It was technically a question, but it may not have sounded like one, and it was directed at no one in particular; her voice was flat, her expression hard. The name tag was held tightly between her index finger and thumb. She was almost tempted to throw it into a rubbish bin.
Because that was what all this was. Absolute rubbish.
