I thought you were… but what she thought Kinsay was would have to wait because a baby dragon had just bounded towards the group in all of its splendour!

“KINSEY! Kinsey! It’s a Chinese Firebolt! KiNSeeeyyYy! her mouth now open wide in absolute delight, the stupid Nem boy all but gone as her eyes drank in the baby dragon! It was real and perfect and of so incredibly beautiful.

“Come ON! Let’s go….HEY!

Why do people always ruin everything! “It won’t hurt us! See! Look, it’s trained. It’s listening to the whistle and everything. Kinsay, we can go see it! A real dragon!. Forget the stupid boy and his shielding charm, they could get around it!

It wasn’t until one of the hooded figures shouted however that Ingrid began to actually stop, her excitement dwindling. “Destroy their environment? NO! DON’T LISTEN TO THEM! DO NOT DO THAT!”. How dare they try and hurt these cute, amazing creatures! If the sound of her shouting didn't frighten the hooded figures then the absolute look of pure anger and heat radiating from her face would freeze them in place. Or maybe she just looked constipated, but like, scary.

Chaos may have been all around her but she was oblivious for the most part, as she stood there, in between the Nem boy and Kinsay, her eyes on the hooded figures as they hexed and cursed practically every adult in the vicinity. Sure, some kids might have been worried about their teacher or the random adults who had had spells thrown at them but, you know, BABY DRAGONS!

“Let’s follow the Firebolt! We NEED to protect it! her eyes now looking imploringly at her friend. “You saw the way it wanted to come see us and play!” Maybe to some, she would sound crazy but she knew Kinsay would understand. There was also the added bonus that they would then hopefully get the chance to escape the hooded figures and hopefully escape Hogwarts so that was also a plus. But, you know, saving dragons first and then escape. Maybe they could even ESCAPE ON A BABY DRAGON!

"Not a good idea to mess with a dragon's young," they said to the enamoured kids. "Even if it does approach you first." Which made it a good idea, really, depending on what it was you were aiming for.

All around them, a sort of entry-level chaos was starting to reign. Dragons were everywhere (in a dragon reserve, shocking), Weasley was down, kids were panicking and several looked like they were trying to get help. Adults were portkeying in - if the items they held were anything to go by - and it took a moment for Nem to work out whether they were dragon reserve employees, Neo-Alliance members or followers, or just people arriving from wherever that old woman's patronus had gone. The fact that they were swooping in to help the dragons and the kids implied the former or latter, and the portkeys suggested they might have come from further afield than the reserve itself. Ministry or some other specialist group then.

One such bloke had come to whistle for their dragon, and so Nem lifted the shield charm. This, as it happened, was the perfect opportunity to disappear, and while the others were more or less likely to be distracted, they rapped their wand down sharply on top of their own head, and felt the familiar cool trickles of Disillusionment. Gripping Limpet's shoulder and briefly squeezing it, they leaned down and muttered into her ear, "Stay near the nice fire-bender, look after the others, and be smart." And then quickly darted away... slowed slightly by the sharp pain in their knee, but not entirely hindered by it. If Limpet thought they were fleeing to find more help, that could work, but Nem didn't care to try very hard to convince her or anyone else.

Then things stepped up a gear. Nice call, Neo-Alliance Grunt, but Nem was way ahead of you. On their way to the grassy plains in the middle distance, however, they did pause to turn back, aim their wand at the do-gooder Luck girl, and shoot a nonverbal Oscausi at her. Not waiting to see if it hit its mark, they continued on their merry, Disillusioned way to the plains.

His thick boots dug into the dirt as he walked backwards, glancing briefly over his shoulder to ensure he did not trip over anything, and soon the elemental magic in his hand had accumulated to roughly the size of a watermelon, which should be plenty for him to manipulate for this young Fireball.

Pivoting suddenly as the beast charged on, Andrei wove the flame into the shape of three small hens and with a grunt released them from his hand in a similar fashion that one would use Oppugno - only his intention was not to cause harm but to distract and have the young dragon chase the fire hens around for a bit. They did not exactly cluck but each time their beaks opened there was a loud POPPING sound like wood in the fireplace.

He was just turning his attention back to the group of students when suddenly the people in hoods began attacking his colleagues. The 25-year-old had about a split second recognition that something had been hurtled his way and he just barely leaped out of the way of it. In fact, the spell just barely grazed his right shoulder as he dove but it was enough to render it dead. He therefore fell to the ground hard on his left side, his right arm hanging loosely across his hip and incapacitated.

Cursing to himself in Romanian as he jumped back to his feet, he immediately began to wandlessly manipulate the air once again to create more fire to his hand. Who were these people and what in the bloody hell were they trying to accomplish here?! Torn between retaliation and protection, Andrei wanted to check on the group of kids the Fireball had been previously charging towards...but dragons were the more predictable species here today...and thus he hurtled his own attack in the form of a bludger sized ball of fire right back to the hooded figure in hopes of incapacitating them temporarily.

"Move into the building!" he barked, his Romanian accent rolling off the tongue as fluidly as the flames from his hand, to the group of kids while blocking the path between them and these mysteries people. "Get inside and stay there!"

He was going to have to take care of his other shoulder, and arm, soon. But after he dealt with this figure who had first attacked him and only after he ensured that both the Fireball and children were in safer positions.

Everything was happening so much. Why was everything always happening so much? Kinsay was starting to feel herself freeze again. It always happened when things became Too Much. Her senses were overwhelmed, the brain fuzz was coming full speed ahead, and instead of hearing clear, distinct voices, she just heard a lot of loud sounds.

She only slightly snapped out of the daze when she felt someone gripping her shoulder. She turned to see who it was, but there wasn’t anyone there. Just a voice belonging to Nemesis Upstead. His instructions clear as day, but it still sent panic up Kinsay’s entire body. He was LEAVING them? But. But. But. He was supposed to protect them. "Wait!!!" But he didn't wait because Kinsay heard the footsteps.

And then the Hoods(TM) were yelling. And then Ingrid was yelling. And then the whistling man (Andrei) was yelling. Everyone was yelling and rather than responding well to any of the instructions (from the Hoods, from her friend, from the adult), Kinsay James’ knees buckled beneath her and she fell to the ground, palms pushed against her head as if it would stop the pounding headache.

This was too much. Everything was too much.
