Delilah smiled in return. It was nice to meet somebody here that she could actually smile at. So far, she'd only been met with fear and terror. "Nice to meet you, too, Avalon," she said. That was enough small talk for now. They had a maze to navigate and a cockatrice to meet. The first year had to admit that she was more than a little nervous. Maybe even excited about the opportunity to navigate a maze and try to work her way through it, but definitely nervous, too. The hooded figures didn't make things any easier either.

Had she known she was going to randomly find a partner, she'd have suggested they share a weasel. As it was, though, she and Avalon each had their own. Delilah followed the lead of the little weasel on a leash. Use her mirror around the corners... "Got it," she said to her partner. That part was a little unnerving. What if she wasn't fast enough with the mirror? Or Merlin forbid, too late?

There was certainly something ferret-like digging a little hole under one of the hedges. Just its hindquarters were visible to the girls as they checked around the corner.
She carried on, listening to the sounds of the nearby jarveys. Her heart was pounding in anticipation. She cast a sideways glance at Avalon, waiting to take the older girl's lead. When she saw Avalon using her mirror, Delilah did the same. "Hey, little jarvey," she softly called. It's what Avalon was doing, so she assumed the older Ravenclaw knew her stuff. She paused. Avalon was asking her what to do? "Uhh...maybe we should go...this way," she said, pointing to the right.

She decided to lead the way, although she kept the mirror fragment as closely as she could possibly could. In the distance, she could hear the sounds of her classmates, and something like a hint of fright sounded in their voices. She glanced back at Avalon. "Something's wrong," she declared. Really wrong. Not just 'we've been invaded by an army of hooded figures' wrong. Something else.
